Came here to try their food and buffet on a Sunday and I was pleasantly impressed at the selection of food they had to offer. I have never seen so many options at an Indian buffet so that was huge plus. The food was very fresh and tasted great. There's also a lot of vegetarian options for people with dietary restrictions. I had the chili chicken, chicken tikka, noodles, biryani, and shrimp fried rice and all of them were delicious! The resturant was clean and well kept and the food was being refreshed regularly. The only bad thing was the service was very slow, even though there wasn't that many people in the restaurant. Anytime we needed anything we always had to grab the attention of the wait staff to come help as they weren't regularly checking up on tables. Overall a great experience and for the price it's a very good bargain, would definitely be back and would recommend to anyone that want to try good Indian food buffet. read more

This plate was so PACKED with chicken, I fear the rice may have been a little lonely! :) Jokes aside, the dish was aromatic and enjoyable. But not to be undersold was the lamb vindaloo. Food very good, service awful. It was like I was invisible. They forgot my soda, it took a while to get my food, nobody came to check on me. It took forever for me to get my check. While I love good Indian food, the service is a big part of the dining experience, and it was very lacking. The chaat was delicious as was the chicken tikka dosa (a real treat!). But feeling invisible, really spoiled the whole experience for me. The dining area also lacks a lot of ambience, but I could get past that if everything else fell into place. Since working at an Indian-owned firm in the late 90s, I've been a fan of Indian food. Many members of my work team have been raving about the Pepper House and recently our boss took all of us there for lunch. People who really know the food did the ordering and we feasted on dishes like Gongura chicken, Andhra chicken curry, and of course Chicken Tikka Masala. As half our team is Vegetarian, we also had Saag Paneer, Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka Masala and one of the Biryanis. All were stunningly good, with far more delicate flavors than I've experienced anywhere else. We ordered everything at the medium spice level which is legitimately quite hot. As sides we had both the buttered and garlic Naan, both of which are also just amazing. I didn't get to take any pictures because with such a large group it was quite the feeding frenzy. It's shocking how much this place has deteriorated in quality and standards even with the same management. The food used to be very good a few years ago. But sadly not anymore. The dosas were soggy and sambar & chutney were tasteless. Aloo parantha didn't have anything with it - buyer or dahi or pickle would have been nicer. And it didn't taste anything. But a new name, new management, and a new look is just what this place needed. My fiancé and I love Indian food. We have eaten at dozens of Indian restaurants in and out of NJ. For us, especially around this area, this is the place to go. There are many new or well known options close by but I promise you, they do not compare to the flavors of Pepper House. This is not fine, fancy dining. The service is so-so, nothing stellar to note. However, if you're looking for really flavorful Indian food at a reasonable price for the quantity of food, look no further. We have tried a lot of the menu and have never been disappointed. Our favorite appetizer is the Gobi Manchurian. Another highlight is the Saag Paneer and Veggie/paneer Biryani. Their dosas are also delicious. My fiancé enjoys the Lamb Rogan Josh and gets it most visits. I took off one star due to them forgetting condiments (when we do take out) and the naan has shrunk in size (I'd rather be charged more and get a regular sized naan). My biggest complaint and frustration is they are totally inconsistent with their spice levels. There have been many times I order "mild" and get "medium" or "hot". If you're not wanting more than a mild spice level I suggest asking for "extra mild". My fiancé loves and can tolerate extremely spicy foods so he always asks for the highest heat level. He reports that it is usually "hot" but that sometimes it seems more "medium" or even so hot he could barely tolerate the spice level. Since they can no longer do a buffet due to covid, we ordered takeout. Everything was really good and portion size was great! Rice was included in our order, too. We ended up going back the next day to get a couple more orders of naan to go with our leftovers, as well as another order of samosa chat. The food is really good. A small, family staff leads to some communication issues, but nothing that can't be worked around. The location near Rowan makes it a perfect place to meet family, and everybody loves this place. Authentic means spicy around here, so medium is PLENTY for me. The samosa chat is an appetizer we always get - it's fantastic. I've not been disappointed in any dish in several trips, and I plan to return. For dinner my family and I got the Samosa Chaat, Butter Chicken., Curry Goat, and Garlic Naan. Firstly the naan was one of the best I ever had and actually had a strong garlic flavor which I loved. Naan order is pretty small so I would reccomend getting 1 order per person. The portions were large even for the Samosa chaat which had all the authentic flavors and the right amount of spice. I don't know if it's a matter of new ownership or shear arrogance. Their prices have gone up, serving sizes have become smaller, and you receive an embarrassingly small amount of meat in meat dishes. The worst cuts as well, mostly bones. This is not a one-off incident, we are regulars. No more, however. Poor customer service, high prices and low quality are the 3 strikes we needed. read more

The food here is excellent; I've tried a variety of dishes and each one has been great. Each dish comes with a generous portion, and is much more reasonably priced than other Indian-style restaurants in the area. Service is always friendly and usually takes 10-20 mins after placing my order over the phone. If you are ordering via Grubhub, they will default to mild spice level; comment if you would like it to be spicy. My only complaint is that during the pandemic, one of the employees who takes payment/hands over food does not wear a mask inside, which I have observed on 2 or 3 pickups. It makes me uneasy to be inside paying for my takeout food when the employee doesn't wear a mask in close contact to me (even though there's a sign on the door saying masks required). Im not going to rate below 5 stars during this time for this minor and temporary issue, but I hope that the staff is taking precautions especially in preparing the food. read more

We couldn't possibly be happier. The food was hot, even for Indian IMO, but it was delicious and they really care about making customers happy here. The service was amazing, they really went above and beyond to make us happy! My wife and I stopped in with our kids (3, 6 and 8) who love Indian food but are a bit picky about new things and can't handle spice yet. Some of the food here was way spicier than we were expecting (even the egg dosa and the tandoori chicken!) and the kids were upset. We didn't even complain but our waitress (who I think was a manager also) saw the kids' reactions and insisted on fixing it for us. The food is excellent and authentic, however for taking out menu is unorganized, we were waiting for one hour and half instead of half hour and there were more than ten people were waiting as same. One lady had cancelled her food, she couldn't wait after an hour waiting and one couple walked out the door after seen people in the line waiting for To Go food. They might had short staffed in the kitchen. Onion pakora very flavorful without a lot of breading. Garlic Naan actually tasted of garlic. My wife had Chicken Chettinad, which had a an excellent mix of spices and was quite hot. I ordered the butter chicken which also was flavorful and mild. I actually ordered the butter chicken to hot, but it wasn't, so I suspect the heat level may have been reversed (though the invoice showed the order the way I placed it) Nevertheless, this will be our go to Indian restaurant. read more

Don't waste your money. Go to Monsoon !! This place is way too expensive for what you get. There is very little chicken in the Masala. We spent almost $76 bucks at this place and the portions are very very small. The Tiki Masala and Butter chicken had very little flavor or color. There was more cream than tomato almost white in color. Also had Dosa which had a very large dosa skin and hardly any potato mix to fill the thing. No chutney or tamarind for samosas which were soggy , not crispy. There was some ginger sauce that was not a good combination with anything we had. And on top of all of that the chicken dishes were ice cold it's like they took some chicken out the fridge and just threw it In The hot sauce but didn't bother to warm it through. Faisal who is takes the orders and prepares the meals, he is very pleasant and always takes cares of my Mom and I. He pays attention to details. Called them to place an order for chicken biryani, a curry and an appetizer.Went to pick up the order and was charged about 5 dollars more than what it adds up to on their website.Tital adds up to $45+tax.Instead was charged $52.Called them and asked them to explain.I am told there is additional charge for protein of $2 though I ordered chicken biryani.In addition, the person tells me there is. Surcharge of $2 for paying by card vs if I place an order online.Unbelievable!!.She didn't tell me any of this while placing the order.
