This place is super popular with the locals. Had an okay time. They have a big Gatorade cooler that's self serve your own water but there was no water and ice in it. This little family restaurant was a nice find for us. My buddy and I were staying in Frisco for our ski trip to Breckenridge. He is gluten-free, so we did a search for a place nearby that we could both eat at. We found out that Peppino's makes a gluten-free crust, so we headed on over for late night dinner. Peppino's is in the heart of Downtown Frisco. Peppino's Pizza & Subs has been around since the late 90's and is well-known with the locals. They were hopping when we arrived. It was a cold night in January, so takeout orders were going out like crazy. The dining room area is chill with a couple of TVs that were showing some sporting events. The room itself is not very large, so be prepared to sit close to strangers. I grabbed a salad and the Sweet Basil BBQ Pizza and enjoyed the sweetness from the BBQ sauce with the spiciness of the pepperoncini's. Peppino's Pizza is a very casual pizza joint and while not my favorite pizza, was tasty and pretty good. The Cheeseburger in Paradise pizza that my son choose was not my favorite but my kids liked it alot. We also got a make your own Tomato Basil Pepperoni pizza which hit the spot after a long day in the mountains. The service is just okay. You order at the counter and then get your own water and soda refills. I wished the place was a little more updated. It seemed a bit outdated. Peppino's had always been our go-to place for seriously good pizza & salads. A few months ago everything changed and it feels significantly more commercial & like a tourist trap. Catering more to the tourists with signs like those you expect to see in Miami Beach, than those who live in the county full time. Prices have increased, significantly thinner crusts and overall just a very different experience. I sincerely hope the new owners make some changes and hear the people out. Parking is easy to find, not wheelchair or stroller friendly but that is true of a few spots along this area. read more

The smell of pizza when you walk in must be what heaven smells like! You place the order up front and pay, then they direct you to a table. Hmm. I've never been a fan of the whole "decide an amount and tip ahead of time" policy. But we let it go. There isn't a lot of indoor seating space, it's a bit cramped. They also placed a party of 5 next to us at a table for 4 and a bench/booth type set up. I felt bad for the family as they were pretty smushed in. They were actually nice and we struck up a conversation with them, so it was fine. On to the menu: lots of variety here! From pizza to calzones, lasagna to wings, salad, oh my! Something for everyone. We arrived on a Friday at 4:40 and it was hopping. Always a good sign. We tried two different pizzas: cheese and "here's the meat". We also ordered garlic knots, and a garden salad that was big enough for two to share. The calzone was wonderful: a little crispy on the outside and well cooked and delicious on the inside. I wish it came with a little side of marinara but no biggie. Pizzas were crispy all the way around, and had terrific flavor. We would pass on the garlic knots next time. Way too much garlic and what looked like oil all drippy at the bottom of the basket, as well as a little cup of it on the side. It also came with marinara which was used for the calzone instead, and made it that much more amazing. But after a bite of the knots, no one wanted them. When we told the server, she was very understanding about it. She could not offer to take it off the bill since well, we already paid for them. She asked if we wanted to replace it with something else from the menu and after a little discussion, we decided on one lava cake and one cannoli. Wow! Are we ever glad we made that decision! The lava cake was perfection and the cannoli was everything you'd expect from a cannoli. We would definitely return to Peppino's when we visit Frisco again. Maybe we'd try to find a quieter time, but my guess is, it's busy here a lot. It's that good!! read more

You're welcomed with a hearty aroma of PIZZA as soon as you open the entrance door, and it was at this point I knew our food was going to be great. The garlic rolls were very well seasoned! So yummy. The margarita pizza was one of my favs with the white sauce. The bottom crust was baked to give you that crisp munch with every bite - it made me want more and more! The garlic knots were ok....They put way too much garlic on them and served it with cold marinara sauce. It was also freezing in the restaurant, as the front door was open and no heat was on. The Pizza was good but the salad wasn't great. They had a Greek salad but only had ranch, blue cheese, or low calorie basalmic dressing. It's NOT kid friendly. A LOUD group of men sat next to my preschooler and every 2-3 words out of their mouths was an F-bomb. Purchased a large sausage & mushroom on Monday evening and we devoured it. The sauce is special, the crust homemade, and the price reasonable. We ordered another pizza on Friday evening and the kitchen was busy- lots of walk-ins and call-ins. The staff is pleasant and hard working. During a snowstorm I had to stop riding for the day since I wasn't used to all the new powder. Since traffic was horrible on i70 (shocker), I had to plan ahead of my trek back home. Finding Peppino's was hilarious cause I actually went downstairs first, looked around and then went back up the stairs until I saw the nondescript door. I was immediately greeted by a taller gentleman with the coolest plugs. We exchanged some small chatter about the snow and riding and then I jumped straight into my order. I ordered the "here's the meat" pizza and what attracted me to it was the addition of chicken along with piles of other meats. While waiting for my pie, I saw numerous repeat customers show up and were even greeted by their first names. 12 minutes later I was presented my pizza and quickly hit the road. I turned on my seat warmers on high to keep the pizza toasty while I made my way. When cars started to slow down and traffic stopped I reached over to my trusty box from Peppino's and started digging in slice by slice. The crust, sauce and toppings made for a memorable meal in the car. The sauce reminded me of the better part of my childhood. If I could put it into words I would but this is the part where I tell you to try it yourself. The crust was perfect and toasted along with super fresh meats. A great balance of taste, temperature and texture was achieved to the nth degree that night! I'm looking forward to my next trip to this side of the tunnel not only to ride but also head back here! Ok, I hate to write this but I'm done with Peppinos. We have been loyal customers for 4 years, ordering almost weekly. New owners took over about a year ago. They have slowly changed almost everything, unfortunately not for the better. What used to be fresh ingredients have been replaced by cheaper versions. What used to be fresh, crisp salads made to order are now premade, put in plastic and kept in the refrigerator for who knows how long. Homemade dressings replaced by nasty kraft packets. The dough is cheap but the cheese is far worse. I guess they made the changes slowly hoping we wouldn't notice. Well, we noticed. read more

Suffering under new ownership! It's a shame, this place used to be the best in the county. Food was over 30 min late. Staff was incredibly rude. The food is completely different and borderline inedible. The worst part of the experience was definitely the staff, very unfriendly. Literally yelling at customers.
