Another place we selected during our trip because of the wife's always thorough pre-trip research. Good call by her, without a doubt. The place was packed when we got in, so we were obviously in the right place to be. We were lucky and got a couple of bar seats. Will was our primary bartender (although we met a friend of a friend behind the bar later during our dinner). Spotless service, great personality. Wife had the Black Lotus drink, and it was...amazing. Not too sweet, like she prefers. I had the Highlander "Salmon" IPA. There was nothing fishy about its great taste, and I loved it. I guess we continued the salmon theme by ordering the salmon toast. Ridiculous, and a perfect start to the meal. For the mains, she got the pappardelle, I had to try the burger. Both were fantastic. I am known to rank my burgers, and it does indeed make an appearance on the list. The salmon starter still might have won the overall food battle for my visit though. One other thing, I love hot sauce, especially house hot sauce, and fun things to dip my fries in. They supplied three containers of awesomeness. No TV's to watch sports, but the overall experience and atmosphere, along with the flawless service make you not need them anyway. Everything was tasty, described accurately, and efficiently delivered. The place has energy without bordering on obnoxious. It balances perfectly going to a nice, classy meal or just going out for some drinks and fun. This was one of our favorite stops during the trip. We came here for dinner during our honeymoon and loved the ambiance and food. Yelp reviewers raved about the skirt steak, and I'm so glad I ended up ordering this dish. It was incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. We also split the smoked salmon toast and really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the braised short rib and was pretty satisfied. We ended our meal with some delicious dessert. We were overall pleased with our visit but were a little disappointed that after they asked if we were celebrating anything, they didn't say or do anything after we told them it was our honeymoon. Went here for my birthday dinner, and it was pretty good! We ordered Ken's biscuits for appetizers, braised short ribs and sourdough pappardelle for entrees, and the warm cobbler for dessert. Ken's biscuits were AMAZING. I guess they change the flavor seasonally. The ones we had were the smoked bacon and chives and they were delicious, especially with the maple butter. The braised short ribs that my hubby ordered were good especially with the mashed potatoes, but it got pretty salty the more you ate. My sourdough pappardelle with short ribs ragu was better. It had the right amount of flavor, so it didn't feel too savory or salty as I kept eating. For dessert, we got the warm cobbler. I guess depending on the season, the fruit they use also varies. The one we had was with tart cherries and pears. It was tasty, but not amazing. I think the biscuit they used for the cobbler was a little too thick for the amount of fruit underneath. Overall, it was a good experience! We'll definitely come back to try their brunch menu too. At the very least, we'll come back for Ken's biscuits . We came to Boise to visit family and Percy was our first meal out and it was an excellent start. Our foods were amazing but the service from our waitress, Shanell, was exceptional. On top of being professional, friendly, and efficient with managing the rest of the team attending to our party of 5, she was extremely knowledgeable with the menu items including the most minute ingredients used in the dishes. We ordered fries as one of the starters and we could tell it was cooked in animal fat due to the richness of the flavour. They were so good. We asked if she knew how the fries were cooked. With no hesitation, she said beef tallow. That was just an example. My pappardelle with short ribs was a perfect rib-sticking dish for the winter. The star to me, however, was the apple cobbler. Atmosphere - Having enjoyed a really satisfying visit to our first Wylder Hospitality Group restaurant (see my earlier review on "The Wylder"), we anticipated good things at The Percy. We were not disappointed. The vibe between these two restaurants not surprisingly is quite similar, but distinct in many ways as well. Both are tremendous, very casual places at which to socialize and dine. I really enjoyed the music that was piped in - classic, somewhat nostalgic songs such as "At Last" (Etta James) and other soul-reaching tunes. The music was loud enough to "hear" but light enough to enjoy all table discussions and easily discern what our server was communicating. Our server (post-water and drink orders via another) was Morgan. You could feel her confidence in answering our questions about the menu and provided a cheery public-facing presence for Percy. Atmosphere summary - I would be happy to dine and socialize here any time. Food - Another vis-a-vis comparison with Wylder: Percy's menu is broader and less-specialized than the great pizza-focused baseline at Wylder. Percy's offerings branch out in many different directions; more in line with a modern American restaurant that is able to cater to many diverse culinary wants. The dinner options are many - and indeed it took our group of four at least one adult beverage in time to make up our minds. Our choices completed, we patiently waited to share two appetizers. Appetizers - Ken's Biscuits: fried sage, gruyere cheese, apricot butter; Percy Potatoes: crispy coal roasted, pickled shallot aioli, black garlic, fresh herbs. Tough for our group to decide between all of the apps offered - our server Morgan was helpful by providing descriptive input beyond the printed menu text. Our choices as we soon found out, were well-worth the pondering. Plenty of bites between the four of us with this duo of starters. Sorry that my pictures were taken midway into enjoying each. The Percy Potatoes were nicely roasted, then smashed slightly (skin-on). Served with a pickled shallot aioli, black garlic, and herbs. A substantial, satisfying start. Even better, in my opinion, were Ken's Biscuits. Two huge (plenty for four of us) homemade biscuits. As impressive as the native taste of the biscuits were alone, I was so pleased with the apricot-laced butter, which in reality was in viscosity akin to a thickened dip. The blend of the savory-sided biscuit with the minutely-sweet apricot butter was a winner. Two apps we'd all order again on a return visit. Entrées - From a taste perspective, I can only provide here my thoughts from my plate as well as my wife's. I thought it a bit intrusive to stick my meandering fork into the plates of the couple with whom we dined. I did however, take a very close observation of their choices. Skirt Steak (me): certified angus, lizzy's backyard marinade, cheesy green chili rice; Organic Rotisserie Chicken (wife): apricot glaze, mashed potato, braised greens; Percy Burger (dining friends): local wagyu beef, sesame bun, idaho cheddar, caramelized onions, house sauce. First, both of our friends selected the Percy Burger, altho one went "sans bun". The Wagyu patties (both medium by choice) looked excellent and the bunned (sesame-semolina) version held up well to the size of the patty. Both plates were loaded with seasoned fries (perhaps too many, if that is possible). Both friends were pleased with the taste of the burgers. My wife was thrilled with her Rotisserie Chicken plate. She is a fan of good veg, but quickly mentioned how exceptional the braised greens were. I also took a forkful of the greens - wonderfully braised kale, possibly in beef tallow if I heard our server Morgan earlier mention. The chicken appeared to be an entire half - it was huge. Lucky me! My wife could not finish this bird and over to my plate (already finished by the way) it flew. The chicken was so moist and tender. Enjoyed each bite. Again apricot slipped into our meal via the glaze used on the skin of the bird. I frankly did not think the apricot made a huge impact on the taste overall, regardless, the chicken was great. I did not happen to try the underlying mashed potatoes (they disappeared prior to my intrusion). On to my entrée. In what looked to be the most elemental dish of the night, I had chosen the Skirt Steak. Very simple yet pleasing presentation. Just sliced skirt steak (medium by choice) plated next to a small vessel of their cheesy green chili rice. The steak was simply butter. Fantastic taste by way of the marinade used and so tender. The rice was also very good, but if I had a bone to pick, I would hasten to say that if you are going to call it cheesy green chili rice - it should reflect green chili a bit more. Don't get me wrong, the rice was really good and I devoured it. Would gladly reorder it - the cheesy rice by the way is available as a side option with any meal. read more

If you go to a stylish place like Percy, you go to relax and enjoy the ambience, food, drinks, and service - not to be tormented by noise that almost makes yelling mandatory. We were seated immediately, and the waitress was really kind and attentive. We ordered their steak, chicken sandwich, and the special - which was a gnocchi and meatball plate. Food took close to 40 minutes to come out, but we were enjoying our time and cocktails so it didn't bother us much. Percy was great! We made a reservation for 4:30 on Friday evening. We were able to grab a spot at the meter right outside. We were seated immediately. We decided to skip the apps to save room for the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. We started with the old fashioned and sleepy hollow cocktails. Both were delicious! I ordered the skirt steak and subbed fries instead of the cheesey rice and my husband and the homemade sourdough pappardelle with short rib ragu. The entrees were great! The marinade on the skirt steak had a great flavor and the fries were delicious. Moving on to the pumpkin cheesecake - so good! Far superior to pumpkin pie. The caramel sauce complimented it so well. We had a great dinner and would 100% return! WOW! Honestly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, genuinely. I first have to start off with our server, someone at my table didn't finish their food (simply because she was full, but she really enjoyed the food) and the server came back asking if the food was okay, if we'd like to order something else, etc etc. That care and concern honestly was super nice to see. Now let's talk about the food. I had the seared salmon and finished everything. When I first saw it, I was thought to myself maybe I should've ordered something else. I was glad I was wrong because everything about that meal was delicious. The fish wasn't too oily, the meal overall wasn't too salty, and everything just kinda fit together. The star of the meal was the dessert. THIS COBBLER, WOW! The sourdough biscuit was so soft and so delicious. Didn't overpower the fruit and honestly the fruit didn't overpower the biscuit. Every bite, you could taste both the fruit and biscuit and none overpowered each other with each having a distinct taste. Lastly, the ice cream on top was a great choice. This is a stunning place with modern decor, including a unisex group bathroom (ie: Ally McBeal style), nestled in downtown. Parking is kind of a bear with apartments close by, but the ICCU parking lot is open after 6pm for use. My party of 8 opted for outside seating which was nicely shaded. Despite being a very warm sunny day, outside seating was very quaint (with exception to a few very loud people that walked by). The service was beyond impeccable...very attentive, personable and prompt. I ordered the chicken sandwich and the party ordered appetizers of shaved Brussels sprout salad, artichoke and Percy potatoes. I wasn't a fan of the salad, though everyone raved about. The artichoke was perfectly grilled. The potatoes were crave-worthy. As for the chicken sandwich, I wanted to love it but the chicken patty was so thin and overcooked that it was dry. The marinated tomatoes feel clunky and in the way. Otherwise the pesto and aioli were delicious, the fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I was excited to try this restaurant while in Boise. On my first night, I called on Sunday and found out they were closing early at 4 PM, which was disappointing since it wasn't listed anywhere. I decided to make a reservation for the next day. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the staff didn't seem very friendly. My girlfriend and I were seated in a small booth, even though there were larger booths available. I ordered a drink from their menu, only to be told they no longer carry it--frustrating since menus should be updated regularly. While the ambiance was cute, the food was underwhelming. Overall, I had much better dining experiences during my time in Boise. I give this place three stars for the ambiance, but the lack of specials and the quality of food and service just didn't justify the price. read more

After looking at Percy's online menu, I decided to give them a call to ask for some specifics on their vegan and vegetarian menu options. I spoke with Izzy, who then proceeded to give me some of the best customer service that I have ever received. She gave me her personal recommendations on favorite menu items that could be made vegetarian, and even went as far as pulling out the recipe book and going into detail about each dish. If that wasn't enough, when my girlfriend and I showed up for Mother's Day dinner, we were surprised with a complimentary order of Percy's sourdough focaccia (which was insanely good). Indoor and outdoor seating and if you don't make a reservation, there's outdoor and bar seating. Service was excellent' it was a hot summer evening and we were outside and our water glasses never went below half-empty. Cocktails were spectacular. I had a vesper and my husband had a boulevardier. Both were perfect! We started with the focaccia which comes with a chili oil that was eye-wateringly spicy, but we couldn't resist it with the delicious focaccia. I was worried I'd filled up in bread, so I ordered the little gem salad. This was the only disappointment. It was fine, but I wish I'd ordered the salmon, which was excellent!
