I pigged out on a delicious Boise Beni with a heaping stack of crispy hash browns and washed it all down with a deliciously sweet Almond Joy ice latte. My husband enjoyed the popular John Wayne platter that he wolfed down like no one's business. My only gripe - the steep prices. Both our dishes were $19.95 plus drinks brought the total to over $60.00 before tipping. For breakfast? Even in this economy?! I don't pay much attention to prices when looking at a menu, but this has got to be one of the pricier breakfast options in the valley. Would I return? Sure. I get it, rent is due. I hadn't been there since they moved out of the old location where the soda fountain was. Lots of great brunch options. Vegan options too if that's your thing. the servings are very generous! We were greeted promptly and seated by the window, that overlooked eighth Street. A couple of things to note is they do not validate for parking and parking in the garage is pretty much the only option. I think it was an exception, but after our waiter took our order we did not see him again. My omelette came out almost cold. We had to ask someone for boxes and our check . Hopefully this is not the norm. The prices are on the higher side but it is downtown. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for breakfast locations. read more

It's been months since my husband and I have been to Moon's. We were downtown for doctors appointments so it was only right to have a meal here. It has felt like forever since we have had one of their beignets. It was a great day to have one. We noticed that they updated their menu and we were excited to try something new. My husband got the Loaded B and G. It was right up his alley! Biscuits and gravy loaded with onions, green peppers, green onions, cheese and bacon. My husband did omit the veggies but what he got looked so good! I got the Country Scramble. Scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, cheese, veggies, country gravy smothered all over potatoes. Both plates were massive! My country scramble was so good! I swear country gravy on anything is so tasty. The potatoes were soft and savory. Plenty of eggs, meats and cheese on top. I only finished a third of my plate. It's enough to share! My husband's biscuits were smothered and covered. The biscuits were soft and paired perfectly with the gravy. We ended up taking half a biscuit home and I look forward to tearing it up tomorrow for breakfast. Moon's has and will always be one of the best local joints to have breakfast at. I was also able to get a side of lemon curd for the pancakes. It was a beautiful match. I recommend. The beignets were ok. They aren't as good as going to New Orleans, but they are mid tier. I recommend the pancakes and lemon curd on the side. One bad thing about the restaurant, is that the music is so loud. Other than that, loved the restaurant. This place was one of the top rated breakfast spots in Boise so we decided to try it out. You may miss it because it is inside a mall type of building. As soon as I got on the 2nd floor where it is located, I saw many ppl waiting around. I assumed they were waiting for a table. Once we checked in with the host, she let us know it was a 20 minute wait. It was not bad so we waited. Once inside we were greeted by our server who was honestly one of the top servers ever. She took our orders and once our food arrived, she continued to check up on us all throughout. There were other people walking around with coffee refills too. The most interesting thing about eating at Moon's is actually just finding the darn place. While it's address is on Main its main entrance equipped with escalators to the second floor are located off of the pedestrian plaza without a street number address to be found anywhere. I was pleasantly surprised with, considering how hard it was to find, that it was as busy as it was and with predominantly a younger crowd. Something about the decor really clicked with me and Becca who attended to my table was especially pleasant and very attentive. Another funny thing was the pollished concrete floor and how it interacted with the ball type castors on the bottom of the chairs. This combination made it especially easy for my chair to move around and glide away from the table when I applied any kind of pressure against the table. Kind of had to wedge my feet to the floor to keep me in place. Would you otherwise notice this; I doubt it. But I'm off that way. A nice old school diner that has the nice new city building feel. It's located on the second floor of a building which is very modern but one you step in but has the diner feel. The moon babies are like crepes meets pancakes. They are good if you're interested in something sweet. It is also topped with their homemade jam. The country scramble is a large portion of really good food if you're craving something savory. I couldn't decide between the biscuits and gravy or an omelette so the scramble was a nice middle ground. The gravy on the scramble is really good and helps elevate the dish. Love, love Moon's. The new location is worth seeking out, on the second floor of a building on the Eighth Street restaurant corridor. It's got great sunlight and open seating that feels invigorating at breakfast. And oh the breakfast! They make "pancake babies" that are opals little pancake bites perfect for a little dip in syrup. Another sweet choice is their lovely beignets which are served with just the right amount of powdered sugar. I got a latte here and I'm something of a coffee snob, so when I say it was perfect you can trust me. Rich espresso, creamy foam, and just the right temperature. They have both brewed coffee and a full espresso bar, and I've never been disappointed. My recent hostess, Emily, was an absolute delight. She made me feel very welcomed and made sure I got a great seat. My server was also very accommodating and helped me navigate the menu to find choices that would work for my dietary restrictions. I always appreciate someone who doesn't make me feel like a problem when I need a few modifications. Prices here are a bit high, but what isn't anymore. With a tip and a beverage you'll spend over $20 a person, but I think you pay for quality and good service. I always recommend Moon's for anyone looking for breakfast or brunch downtown. read more

This is a good breakfast place. But, me and my wife felt like the portions were too big. Everyone I saw had a take out box. For two people, we ended up paying $60+ which is too much for diner breakfast. I would rather pay $40 for a portion size that's enough for us to finish. The quality was okay. Our hash browns were burnt outside and a bit too raw inside. The chorizo egg omelette did not have the Mexican chorizo. It was flavorless sausage. The service was good. I wish the tables did not wobble. But the ambiance was okay. Just noisy and crowded. My main issue was the price and the quality. Too much food and too expensive for breakfast. California Benni was fresh and perfectly balanced ( avocado was perfectly ripe) the Monte Cristo was warm and done just right (my husbands fave) and the kids' pancakes were a hit. I also loved the iced pistachio latte, which was unique without being too sweet. The only downside was having to pay for parking, which was a bit of a bummer.
