We've not explored them and mainly visit for the beaches. Military can receive a free lifetime pass for national parks so the entry fee is waived here. I greatly appreciate. My husband loves to bike here. I love to come and see the Inlet. You can go to the Bayside or you can go to the Oceanside. There's also some older probably early 1900 homes scattered about the property from another iteration of its use. There's also I believe World War I one or World War II bunkers present here so this state Park has had many different lives and leaves quite a legacy. We've driven through the campgrounds which look really nice. And the stretch of golf here is substantial. You could definitely find a place to be all on your own if you were willing to walk. The facilities are nice. There are restrooms but parking can be limited at the beach lots on the gulf side when driving in. It's an extensive park and a very long stretch. The water is incredible. It's turquoise jello on the right days.

It is a beautiful stretch of beach there isn't much out there once you pass Peg Leg Pete's, but some designated areas to park for beach access, on the Gulf of Mexico side. You can see some remnants of the old Fort areas on the sound side, they are restricted areas, it's kinda of eerie, like time has stood still. Not a lot of people use this end of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, there is a unspoiled beauty about it. Untouched beautiful beachside paradise. There is a overnight camp/campground area, within the park, at the end near the Fort. It's a great place to camp while exploring the Gulf Islands National Seashore "Fort Pickens area." Lots of boardwalk areas combined with well maintained sand trails, nice picnic areas and bathrooms along with camping areas. We just stopped in to hike the 3.5 mile loop. We followed the trails which for the most part are well marked but realized somehow even though we were on the main sand trails we weren't on the loop that the ranger told us to follow so it's not hard to get off target. Your phone GPS combine with the provided map proved to be the best solution for us. Peaceful trails, nice bathroom facilities and scenery combined with wildlife made for a great two hour excursion.

This turned out to be quite the find especially in the off-season, it's rare to be able to enjoy such a place with an unobstructed view and isolation except for a few birds chasing sand crabs and bait fish. If you only focus on the beauty it hard to believe you're only a stone's throw from civilization. The only thing missing was a beach covered in beautiful shells and maybe a few well placed palm trees to add a little shade and some ambiance. Well there were some small shells and a slight breeze so I was happy happy happy to steal a line from Bob Ross, I think this is a scene he would of painted, maybe add a little "Yellow Ochre" and a touch of "Phthalo Blue" yeah I think those would complete the painting. There are a few amenities here, a restroom, a few pop machines and two extremely long board walks to get you from the parking lot to the sugar sand. I don't know if I've really ever experienced a perfect day I know I've been blessed to have had so many great ones but this is a bucket list place that I wasn't expecting. As others have said, yes, the beaches are bright white and the water truly is crystal blue! We've enjoyed countless fresh oysters here, especially delicious are the Murder Point Oysters when they are available, and tons of Royal Red shrimp, which are also, truly delicious! The Orange Beach area is where we charted a deep sea fishing boat for a six-hour deep sea fishing trip during Red Snapper season to celebrate a milestone birthday and it was the most memorable experience!! [Thanks so much Captain Troy Frady and Distraction Charters!!!!] We typically visit FloraBama and get scratch off lottery tickets, get a drink or two and again, some raw oysters. The Gulf is another fun place to hang out, eat, and drink - their Grouper sandwich is delicious and their bloody marys are good too! Typically, we visit Sea and Suds and enjoy the balcony area that sits above the Gulf, and we always enjoy a visit to Cobalt, which has delicious food, beautiful water views, and live entertainment. Orange Beach offers a good variety of public golf courses, too and I've played on several of them. Orange Beach is such a lovely asset to Alabama! It's just a little over five and a half hours drive from my house, and it's worth it for the lovely beaches, the friendly people, the delicious eats and the recreation!

That leaves you with three choices. Pay your tribute to the local government and chair mafia, bake in the hot sun, or sit so far back all you can see is umbrellas and there is no way to properly watch your children as they play by the water. ​ Oh and before the city tries to defend themselves, our canopy was shorter than their pet umbrellas and we were out before them on the (not) public beach.

The pier stretches about 1,471 feet out into the Gulf, and the water is so clear you can see straight down like you're looking through glass. Schools of fish cruise by, anglers line the rails pulling up mackerel and pompano, and every once in a while you'll see something bigger glide through the blue. I've seen rays, sharks, and more fish than I could count swimming right below my feet. It feels like standing above a living aquarium. The original pier here dates back to the 1930s, but the modern one was rebuilt stronger in 1998 after storms took the earlier versions. Today it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, and it's easy to see why. The beach is bright white, the water is emerald green, and the whole place has that laid-back Gulf magic. Not great water pressure though. Great place to camp. Clean bathrooms and really nice water pressure and hot water showers! The sign says no golf carts but there were plenty of them! The Outpost is a little store but they don't carry much except some drinks and you can rent some sleeping bags. It leaves the impression that so much more could be sold/rented there! I needed a 50 to 30 amp adapter for my power cord and the camp host (space #10) had an extra one to lend me. Sweeeet. Great couple. If i would suggest MWR improvements, i would say......fix the ice machine! Fix the coke machine! Add some items to rent/sell in the outpost (like firewood). No propane right now, don't know why. Boat wash needs a better hose. Still, we love the place.

There is off-street parking, so that is definitely a plus. If you are into disc golf, I would definitely recommend here.
