Cannot say enough great things about either Perfect Edge location. We have been going since two mishaps, one at a chain and the other at a local shop that both incorrectly fit our boys. Our last skate purchase at Perfect Edge confirmed that we won't shop anywhere else. My 13 yo, who is VERY brand loyal and has expensive taste for everything went in with his mind set on a specific pair of skates. After trying multiple pairs on, at multiple price points he walked out with a completely different brand, and they weren't the most expensive. We will not shop anywhere else and they take their time and don't rush you. Some of them will even chirp at the kids which makes the process a little more fun, the old man is the best at chirping. We live in Lansing and we were told this was a good place to go for hockey skates to get either sharpened or something done for them We usually go to Pure Hockey so we decided to try this place for the first time we called the day before talked to the gentleman that does skates ,told him my son wanted swap out the skate blade holder to his skate they told us it would take a day possibly two , we told him we'd be out the next day which is a Friday upon Getting there he goes inside and the gentleman that does the skates said his brother is the one that does the work and would not be back until Monday would've been nice to know that When we called the night before , before driving from Lansing We'll take the extra 15- 20 minutes to drive out to a place that we've trusted all the time read more

Horrible customer service by the owner I assume.... the guy sitting in his office stuffing his face while one employee is out working with everyone else - went to get skates sharpened - skates that we purchased from them and we inquired on time frame he didn't say hello or anything just grumbled 20 minutes. After 10 minutes of nothing I asked if they only had one person working and he said "why do you need" rudely I said we'd like to get some skates sharpened where he rudely barked at me 20 minutes..... will not return. read more

UPDATING MY ORIGINAL REVIEW! Apparently they did attempt contact through FaceBook but I never saw it because it hit my "other" box. the lack of response was my chief issue with them. Since the product is good, I rescind my 2 stars !! I'm not even as disappointed in what I got as I am in them as a company. My 7 year old spent his birthday money on a Bauer jacket. He asked them to embroider his name on it. In doing so they sewed the pocket shut. I posted a comment on their Facebook page just saying that if they couldn't do what he wanted without rendering the pocket useless, they should have told him that so he could make an informed choice. Instead of responding in any way they just deleted it. A simple "we are sorry that happened" would have sufficed. To ignore it and only leave up comments that are positive is misleading. Good customer service is not about being perfect, it's about how you respond when things go not so perfectly and in this case, FAIL. read more

This is strictly a review on their customer service. Never once have I ever walked in here where anyone says "Hi, how are you?" I will stand at the drop off skates counter for 5 minutes until I have to find someone to assist me. Every time i ended the store, there is no one there. Today i am here and there is one guy getting fitted for skates.. Mind you, I'm bringing in skates on behalf of someone, but I don't know much about hockey or skates. Some assistance and clarification would be nice. Last time I was here, he asked me how I would like the skates sharpened and I told him I wasn't sure. He huffed and rolled his eyes asking me what kind of skating he does, etc. I told him what I know and everything else I didn't have answers to do, I told I didn't know. The store is owned by an older gentleman and his kids (from what I hear around town). One of the sons is super friendly while the other, I have yet to speak with. The father isn't very helpful to me, probably assuming that I don't play hockey or know anything, which is besides the point. If there was a better place in the area, I would gladly drive to them.. until then, I'm stuck dealing with the grumpy old man and his poor customer service. read more

The lady at the counter was quite rude and not very friendly. First when we came in looking for rollerblade wheels, she made it seem like we were bothering her when we asked for assistance. Then when I came back to return them because I couldn't get them in my blades. I would not recommend this place...rude and unprofessional. read more

Great knowledgeable staff and great variety of equipment for all price ranges. Spent about an hour there today with a 2 year old and a 4 year old that both got fitted for the correct skates. I came into the Hockey store to pick up my skates that I had dropped off on the previous day. I said to guy sharpening skates Hi how are you doing and he said nothing in response barely acknowledging me. Looking at the counter and seeing all the skates up there I said I will just leave these and get them tomorrow if thats okay. I came in and the owner was very rude to me. I guess due to me being there right before the close of business. I have spent a lot of money over the years in this store. The customer service, friendliness, atmosphere, and mood has never been positive in this store. If Harvey's were still in town I would be so grateful to spend my money there. I told the owner while in the store picking up my skates that I will never be back and his response was good I don't need your business anyway. read more

Buy from people that know hockey. This place has the best knowledge about products and actually care about making sure that they put you in the product that fits your needs. They spend a couple hours working with the kids when they need new skates making sure the fit is right and they are comfortable and the performance will be where it needs to be and they spend twenty plus minutes on the sharpening the first time so it is perfect. That is why the name is so appropriate. We have been buying our skates from them for 15 years and we drive the 40 miles each way to have them sharpen our kids skates. There is a difference and our kids will not skate on blades that were sharpened anywhere else. Sure the old guy is blunt, but he will take good care of you and so will his family. This is a local family run place. They take the time to do things right for their customers and are fighting against the online giants that don't have to rent a building and don't provide the hands on service, knowledge or expertise. So if you want to support them buy your equipment from them, we do! read more

I went in to get my skates sharpened and the guy at the sharpener told me if I wasn't going to wear a mask then I had to wait outside for my skates to be sharpened. I did as he said and waited outside and went in fifteen minutes later to get my skates. The man sharpening skates was very rude and YELLED at me to get out of the store before I could even ask if my skates were done or find out at least how much longer I'd be waiting. I did as he said again and waited right outside the door and scrolled through Instagram for another 20 minutes before he came out with my skates (not sharpened) and told me he wasn't going to sharpen my skates because I didn't have a mask on. It was a complete waste of my time and I left the store furious. I then headed over to Perfect Edge in Brighton and got my skates sharpened in five minutes and left with sharp skates and no issues other than the typical busy Brighton traffic. read more

We have been driving out to this location to buy skates for our hockey players for over ten years now. My kids have small ankles and wide feet with thick toe boxes and the staff here are the only people I trust to find a properly fitting skate for them. The extra time taken to mold and adjust the boots is always a good investment. read more
