I had two wedding dresses brought in for emergency alterations (one was my reception dress, suffering from a wrong size and poorly done work from a prior seamstress; the other was a dress for a courthouse ceremony which needed hemming and the bust taking in slightly). The entire experience was so refreshing in the midst of stress of whether my reception dress would fit and look halfway decent. Jill and Maria were confident from the start and immediately got to troubleshooting my reception dress. Within minutes, Maria diagnosed the issues and assured me that it would all be fixed. What a RELIEF! Granted, I still had to get into the best shape of my life in the month or so that I had before the wedding, but knowing that I was in Maria and Jill's expert hands meant I didn't have to scramble for a new dress. Both dresses were completed to my satisfaction in a timely fashion. Jill was always responsive to my requests and calls and so kind. Maria is a wonder and I am so thankful for her skilled artistry. What hole? :D I recently took my daughter's school cardigan to Perfect Fit. The uniform store where we purchased the cardigan had embroidered the school logo way too low, making the cardigan unusable for my daughter. I figured I'd try to remove the embroidery by hand and maybe use the cardigan around the house. As careful as I was, removing the embroidery still left a quarter-sized hole. I took the cardigan to Perfect Fit to see if anything could be done. When I got it back, I couldn't tell where the hole had been! The seamstress painstakingly rewove it - it looks brand new! I am so appreciative of the great work she did and of the excellent customer service. In this age of technology and mass production, it's great to see quality craftsmanship is alive and well. Jill did an amazing job with my wedding dress alterations! I had one dress for the main wedding day that needed to be hemmed and taken in at several points (straps, hips, chest). Jill and her team did a great job of making all the adjustments perfect for my body and the dress looks great! The second dress is for a separate wedding celebration the day after, and it only needed a hem. They were able to accommodate and made sure to do the job with care and precision. I brought the dresses in about 6-7 weeks before the wedding, and they were both ready to be tried on after just 3 weeks. I'm really disappointed with this place. The ladies that work there are really nice but that's the only good thing I can say about them. I brought a skirt that doesn't fit and asked her to just put an elastic band on top of the zipper so it can fit. She literally just sewed on a band, incorrectly may I add, and now the zipper doesn't even zip up half way. Definitely not worth $40. Would not recommend this place. read more

Went to pick it up and it was $250...it was a $200 dress! If it cost that much it should've taken a lot longer than one day to get it back to me!! I was shocked! The elderly gentleman and lady were very when I first went to drop off the cloth & materials to get a quote on a custom tailoring work. However, that's where to good points end. In order to reference some of their prices, I asked how much it would cost for a normal dress shirt sleeve shortening work. They said it would be $68. You read it right! That's $68 for ordinary dress shirt sleeve length work!!! Absolutely ridiculous price.... I have had professional tailoring done to my suit and dress shirts many times before. Men's dress shirt sleeve length work averages $18~$28. I told them how much I normally pay and they brushed it off with no comment. Still, wanting to give them a chance, I left the materials at their store and waited for their quote. I needed to turn my 4 yards of cloth turned into a small table cover (30"x20"x29"). Nothing special done. Just needed the ends sewn together to cover the table and drape over the edges. They called me an hour or two later and quoted me $120!!!! I told them it's too much and will come by to pick up my materials. They said they will close at 4pm so I'll told them I will be there just before they close. They called me at 3:15pm saying that they wanted to close early but they couldn't leave because of me. Their specific wording was: "because of you, we can't leave." Very unprofessional and a rip-off store. I went down to another alteration shop only 1 mile down the street and got the same work order for less than $50. Just DON'T go here. read more

I dropped off a jacket that needed the cuffs repaired. Since they had to be replaced, I knew it wasn't going to be cheap so when I asked the lady about the price, she couldn't quote me a price so when I asked "$200?", she said no it wouldn't be that much. A few weeks later, I picked up the jacket and of course the cost was about $200. I was satisfied with the work even though the colors were off a little. About a couple months later, the cuffs that were replaced are just a bad as it was when I dropped it off to her. The material that was used was of poor quality. They have sewn patches on a leather jacket for my son, repaired two tweed sport coats, and done useful, utilitarian changes to clothing vital for my work. Wow this place is great. I need some fixing with my long bridesmaid dress because it's too large although this is already the 00 size from anthropologie. I was referred to Perfect Fit by the bride and I just called and made an appointment on the same day. The fitting only took less than 30 min and Jill was able to quickly identify what to do. I expect the tailoring to be done in 2 weeks, but she called me the second day and said I can pick it up. I tried it on and it fits perfectly! Jill Aghassi was my contact at Perfect Fit and she was just absolutely perfect! She was able to accommodate me for my tailoring needs. I had a few patches that needed to be added to a military jacket and needed it fairly fast. Not only did she do it quickly, she also did it the right way. She didn't do it the lazy way just laid the patch on the arm and ran it through the machine, she literally took the lining off and sewn it up proper! She also repairs moth holes in your winters sweaters so make sure you bring them here for treatment. read more

I wish I had taken photos of the before and after, but the several centimeter wide hole in my cashmere sweater is gone! My sweater cost about $300 and I thought I would have to part with it, but for $28 the hole was gone and I got my sweater back the next day! This is not an update to my review. Apparently the seamstress/owner who ripped me off...oops I mean helped me, has decided to post a comment about my review 5 years after the fact. That's awesome. Since 2007, I've been in more than a handful of weddings (5+) where my bridesmaid dresses required extensive and detailed alterations.....so I was fortunate that because of this horrendous experience, a fellow yelper introduced me to LAM'S ALTERATIONS in Rowland Heights, where 'great pricing' and 'attention to detail' is their first and last name. From wedding dresses to designer suits....people are willing to drive from Newport Beach and distances beyond just to have them tailor their specialty items, and now I'm a loyal customer as well. I don't mean to trash this Perfect Fit place, but I believe that rather than attempting to show "good will" (as Jill A. states) by means of giving a discount only after a customer has grown angered; this place should really focus on good business practices first. If a price is going to be higher than the initial estimate (especially if the increase is more than 50%), the proper etiquette or honest practice would be to CALL and inform the customer of the price adjustment, so they are aware of the increase in costs before proceeding. Don't just do the alterations and then hand a bill over, expecting the customer to be gleefully happy in paying you more. If this was done in the first place, the integrity of your business would never have been questioned...and an angered customer wouldn't have to post bad reviews on yelp. I am glad that other consumers have had positive experiences here, but thank you Perfect Fit for bringing Lam's Alterations and me together! read more

If you want service by an Expert, this is the place I took in some pants and jackets in to get altered and was completely blown away by the work they did! I don't think i'll ever have to buy new pants again b/c this place makes ur clothes fit like a glove. Sure it was a tad pricey but the quality was there and i really like my clothes. I took in a sport coat and asked to have the sleeves let out a little and the sides taken in very very slightly. I just picked it up and they charged me $236.00, I was absolutely completely shocked!!! Obviously like most people I have had this same type of alterations done before and I have never in my life been so overcharged! Wow! Any kind alteration, whether is is a simple hem or a complete overhaul of a prom dress, is done here with beautiful handwork. Always on time. They make you feel good when you are trying things on that have to be "let out," which can be an agonizing moment. I bring my designer pieces here because I don't want to take the risk with another tailor who definitely will mess it up. I know this because I have tried various tailors before and they never know what to do, and in the end, the original style of the clothes is gone and the clothes just looks and fits funny. I took in 5 items to get tailored, which consisted of a dress and a shirt that needed minor alterations & 3 draw-string pants that needed a bit more altering. I was not contacted with an estimated amount only that my items were ready for pick up. Upon pick up is when the shop owner decides to tell me I have to pay $350 for my items. I was beyond shocked, it's like paying for new clothing items, not just for the small alterations that they did. And the alterations on the pants are BARELY noticeable. It's not like they took my items in and entirely fixed them, they only, focused on one or two alterations per item. read more

I walked in to the store trying to get stitches on a velcro that has already been glued to my kid's athelete pants. It is just a few stitches on a small rectangle shaped Velcro but the manager wants to charge $14 due to the "time" that it is required. I can't imagine this will take much time. But she insisted that she needs to change needle, thread, etc. Also I have to leave it at the store for pick up hopefully next day since they are so busy. I was very confused how hard could it be. So I exited the store and went to a tairlor half a mile away, got it fixed for les than $2 with 2 minutes waiting onsite. It is awesome that I don't have to make a second trip.
