We take our dog there for grooming, training classes and also when we go away on vacation. The nightly rate for his stay is on the pricey side, but they take great care of your animals! It is well kept kennel, and we asked them to take a tour around the kennel and you could see they take good care of the pets. I also like how they have "day care" for your pets where you can drop the dog off on your way to work and pick him back up. You can get texts from them on the status of your animal and photos as well. We used to go to a different kennel until we discovered this place, and though it was farther from our house it is worth it! Additionally, it is obvious the attention to detail that went into the layout of the facility (take a tour and you'll see for yourself!), and the accompanying services offered. Whenever I step foot into PPR, its atmosphere is calm and quiet. The dogs are tired from playing. I've had my dog bathed there, trained with one of their trainers, and gone to seminars hosted at the Pet Resort. We've taken our 2 dogs (border collie mixes) here three times so far. I'm impressed with how clean the place is, the friendly staff and the genuine concern for them. The girls are happy to get out of the car when we arrive and are jumping around like crazy when we get inside. I've been to a couple of other kennels and there is no comparison. Perfect Pet Resort is the best. I would have given it 5 stars but it is kinda pricey. That's probably the downside. read more

I 'd give them more stars if available on customer service alone , there is not one employee that I've come in contact with who wasn't as kind and caring as could be . The resort is clean no smell Dakota was in a presidential suite I call it , perfect for my baby with anxiety a bit scared being abused before rescued . April for one employee I never met her but I called making sure Dakota was ok , I apologized for bothering them she said quote your never a bother , you can call anytime and let me check on Dakota . She came back to the phone , she's doing great we love her don't worry and call anytime . My mind was at ease, then I got to meet Tyler I asked please the truth was Dakota ok he smiled and said she did good I see no issues . I have taken my dog here several times and still have mixed feelings. Once when they groomed her, they cut her nail too short and she bled all the way home. Honest mistake I guess. Another time we took her she came hime sick with diarrhea, vomiting and an ear infection. No way to prove she caught anything there, but she was healthy prior to going. The last time we took her, the attendant caught my pups foot in the door as she took het back. She yelped very loudly and the girl just kept walking! I thought once again, accidents happen. But I just read that another person had the same problem! This issue should most definitely be addressed by management. It is unacceptable that it has happened on more than one occasion. I have had dogs my entire life and not once have I shut their foot in a door. PPR is lucky that they haven't severely injured a dog yet! read more

I stopped by to meet with staff and tour the facility before bringing in my dog for day camp or boarding. Sounded like a great place despite being expensive. Wrong! For day camp at $30/day, I was told dogs go out for play 3 times per day with small play groups, and that on the first visit they will be evaluated with each group to see which is the best match. At pickup, staff would discuss details of how the day went. Not true. Young female staff were very friendly, but the two older males were rude and getting any info from them was like pulling teeth. After continuing to ask questions, I learned my dog went out at most twice, and with all dogs in one play group. And he was soaking wet from rain - not even towel dried. Worst of all, my joyful & energetic dog seemed nervous and upset when we brought him home. We've never seen him like that, not even after surgery. Agree with other reviewers- awful place. Try somewhere else. Dogwood Acres or Beechnut or...don't bring your pet here. read more

This place really is as good as it gets! These people love animals, and they will take care of your dog as if it's their own. Every time Max goes there he loves it! He goes on Nature walks... Has extra play time, and he love his baths they give him. He sometimes get dry skin but that baths they give him clears it right up! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE-Would not allow me to leave 0 star On the weekend of August 16-19, 2019 we put our two dogs in your Perfect Pet. We visited the facility and dropped off the pups for the trial day on August 14, 2019 and was pleased with the cleanliness and friendliness and felt comfortable leaving my babies there. That day went fine. We picked up our babies on August 19, 2019 and received a very happy and positive report card on both pets with no incidents recorded. That evening, we noticed one dog had a cut on her bottom. I thought maybe she scooted on the ground and had cut herself. The next morning, she had difficulty urinating. We took her to the vet. The vet determined that she had been penetrated by a male or by something and had trauma to her vagina externally and internally. She had a bladder infection and bacteria in her urine as a result. I was never told that anything happened to her while their care. This would have been something that we should have been told. If they were not aware that this happened to our pup, then when the dogs are socialized, they obviously need to be watched and supervised more carefully. I had no idea that the male and female dogs would be together and that this could have even happened. This is just not right. I don't know any other way to say it, except our dog was raped. Three days after this, both dogs came down with kennel cough. Much added worry and expense due to placing the dogs in Perfect Pet Resort. I am so angry and upset about this, I don't even know what to do. I can maybe understand kennel cough but there is absolutely no reason nor any excuse for the trauma that our pup endured. The response from the kennel was basically, we don't believe you, we need documentation from the vet. We provided our vet number, but the vet did not receive a call. read more

If you have the money and want your pet to stay someplace they will be happy with staying in while you are away or on vacation, etc, then this is the place for you. This isn't the run down motel you stay at when you go to the beach, its the good hotel you stay in and enjoy the indoor pool, hot tub, restaurant, and room. So if you want to just put your pet in a kennel when you go on your out of state vacation, this isn't the place for you. Friendly great place for pets, a place that takes care of them, has fun doing it, and has plenty of staff to handle the job. My boss lives right down the street and they are a staple of his pet handling needs when he goes out of town with the family. Of course he makes enough money to do it, where as a regular Joe like myself wouldn't use such a place way out of my price range. This place is the best! It really is perfect. I've done training here, boarding, Everything. This is the only place I trust with my dog (who is an 85 lbs HANDFUL) and if you'll believe it they are on the cheaper end of the boarding facilities that I've considered. The owner is awesome and all the staff know what they are doing. They all seem very professional. They team your dog up with dogs with the same energy level for play time. And I do the bath add on every time. And they are great with my dog who can be a little mouthy when he's getting bathed. read more

Absolutely love the Perfect Pet Resort, and so does MAX our German Shepherd. We got MAX at 7 months old as a rescue, and he needed training and had some defensive behaviors to overcome. "Butch" the trainer there, gave us six classes and all the help we needed to set MAX on a secure path to being a happy, well-behaved and well adjusted dog. He is 6 years old already. We give MAX doggie day care from time to time, to keep him socialized with other dogs. He LOVES the place. And we board him there whenever we need to be away. We like the staff and are so grateful to have a place we feel so good about. It is MAX's home away from home. read more

Very disappointed, we boarded our dog 9 days, picked him up and he was 3 Lbs lighter(he only weighed 23 lbs), dehydrated and hoarse. I had specifically asked them to keep an eye on his hydration since he won't share a water bowl with other dogs, they said they would, clearly didn't. He previously was dehydrated but seemed ok once home. This time they didn't have a report card or have any real info. All new people isn't an excuse. For $49.00/day this is not worth it, he is depressed and unwell. Ashame we need to start over finding a nice place that will pay attention to all dogs. read more

My original dog trainer recommended the facility and the lead trainer to me as my Dogo/AMSTAFF rescue was a hard head with socialization issues. It is pricey. However, the cost does reflect the quality of care. This facility was my last resort to get my pup the help and training he needed. My dog is/was/working through fear aggression and I was afraid that they would evaluate him and tell me they couldn't care for him, for safety reasons. Well, was I wrong. He was a bit skittish walking in, but on the first day he came trotting out as happy as could be. The staff took the time to explain to me that he was welcome at the daycare and boarding facilities and he was a gentlemen the whole day. He was kept in a private indoor run and received private time in the play yard, as he was not ready to play with any of the play groups. Every time we go back he races for the door to the building, dances while he waits for one of the dog handlers to pick him up and never even looks back when he leaves to go into the kennel area. To say he is happy is an understatement. Boarding him there is a dream as well. The staff know his name on sight, though they sometimes have to look me up :) He did so well at boarding I started working with the lead trainer, who is a quiet, serious person that is excellent with dogs. We spoke of my hopes and issues with my pup and setting achievable goals. My pup knew basic commands before we started, but tends to make "poor decisions" when he gets excited. After a few months of one on one training and a board and stay program, he is becoming much more reliable in temperament and follows commands, even when excited. read more

We boarded our dog, Millie, at the Perfect Pet Restort since my wife and I were out of town on business. Our dog is a "senior" dog and we felt very comfortable leaving her at this boarding facility. Our dog became ill a few days after we left her and I was not going to be able to pick her up during normal business hours. The owner was exceptionally accomodating by meeting me at the kennel at almost midnight to pick up Millie. She could have just as easliy told me to come the following morning to pick her up but she was concerned for our dog and knew the best place for her was at home. Imperfect pet resort really doesn't care to answer our phone calls or emails. Don't spend your money on this over priced dump. We are really dissatisfied. You can't call yourself perfect if our dog was sick while he was in your hands and you didn't take him to the vet or call us. Isn't that what we payed you for. How perfect of you. He was Diagnosed with facial paralysis he can't even shut his own eye. It could have been permanently damaged if it wasn't treated on time. This is very unprofessional. read more

My usual kennel was booked for the weekend I needed boarding for my dog, so I scheduled with PP. Considering the cost was $44 per day, I assumed it would be worth it. I was wrong. The staff couldn't have been more disorganized. You would think they'd want to make a good impression on someone visiting for the first time. They weren't terribly busy either so that can't be an excuse. While I was waiting for them to bring our dog, I watched a staff member taking two standard Manchester terriers back and one's paw got stuck in the door. The poor thing cried out but the staff just tried to walk it off like nothing happened. They also forgot to give me back my dog's stuffed dragon toy and my pink carrying bag that I use for all her overnights. I'm highly unimpressed with this place and will continue to use beechnut kennels as I've never been disappointed by them. Usually they say, you get what you pay for, but in this case...it's just an overpriced pain the ass. read more

This place is awful. Sent my dog here for a week so I could go on vacation, he comes back with rashes where a collar would be which leads me to believe he was choked or not taken care of properly. This place has changed! My dogs have been going to the Perfect Pet Resort for the last 2 years and the staff was great. HOWEVER, recently I picked up my dog a day early and he appeared drugged! Also, none of the dogs were barking in the kennel. When I took him home he couldn't even walk 2 feet from the door. He slept for the next 24 hours---he didn't want to eat. I chose not to take him to the vet because he is a rescue and has difficulty with vet visits. This is a terrier who has a lot of energy. He really appeared drugged. Some of the regular staff has left. Why weren't the other dogs barking? Be careful! We definitely won't be going back again. read more

Great Experience! This is our first pet and we were very nervous about leaving him behind. I visited 4 kennels before selecting this one and so glad we did. The staff never made me feel rushed when I called or came by for a tour, I even toured again with my 9 year old and he approved too. Great staff, very clean and our pet did not even smell bad after being there for 5 nights . I added extra service such as brush out and extra play which I could tell they actually completed since his fur was perfect without a bath. While away I phoned twice and they allowed me to speak directly with the person caring for him and that was comforting. At pickup I received a summary of his visit and then a thank you card in the mail. This will be our second home when needed. Only wish there was technology to allow you to view him while there or they send you photos even if for a fee. Some other facilities offer this service. Michelle read more

We have used Perfect Pet Resort a couple of times. Our children live in MD, not too far from the Resort. They both have dogs who do not like cats. After having him traumatized by his stays at the local vets' places, we were really excited to come across Perfect Pet Resort, where he was attended to as cats are want to expect, and I could visit and be at ease. If we are coming to MD for more than a day, we will not come unless Spunky can stay at Perfect Pet. He is away from the dogs, and the atmosphere is extremely calm and serene -- which he needs, since he is one of the most skittish cats I have ever seen in my life. Without a doubt, this "pet resort" is not only good for the animals, but it is extremely good for the "parents". I can relax, knowing he is well taken care of and not being traumatized. read more

I don't normally take the time to post reviews for local services but knowing how difficult it can be to find a good pet boarding/kennel facility, I wanted to post this for the benefit of all dog/pet owners in the DC area. I checked my dog into Perfect Pet Resort (they don't like being called a kennel) for 8 days this winter. I've tried several boarding facilities in the DC/VA/MD area and this impressed me by far more than any others. It was secluded enough to be quiet, had incredibly clean facilities, including the dog and cat quarters/rooms and play areas. The cats were able to roam freely at times within a large area. There were larger suites for dogs that included couches, pillows and a lot of space. Surprisingly, the interior of the resort was rather calm/relaxed which is usually not the case in a kennel. The pet cages which are in plain view from the front desk are actually not cages at all but glass-front sizable spaces (even for small dogs). The grounds are well manicured and play areas a good size. The staff were very friendly and responsive to my calls before and during the week my dog was with them. When I picked my dog up, she was as happy to be up front and play with the staff, particularly the manager, as she was to see me. She usually just bolts to the front door. Based on what I saw, I highly recommend the resort. read more

Although I fully understand that dogs, in social environments, have a higher likelihood of contracting an illness, it would be my preference if this kennel was better about identifying them in pets, and communicating illnesses to owners. It would then make sense to isolate / take actions to limit its spread. Our dog stayed with Perfect Pet Resort for 10 days and was sick when we picked her up. It was even apparent that something was wrong with her before we even left the kennel. She lacks energy, consistently sneezes and hacks, making prolonged wheezing noises when inhaling. The vet says she contracted canine cough. When calling Perfect Pet Resort to inquire, they claimed we were the first customers to let them know that our dog was released sick. However, we traveled with family members who also left their two dogs with Perfect Pet. Both of their dogs are experiencing the exact same symptoms and likely have contracted it as well. They have called to complain. Given the large number of dogs left at the Resort, it seems highly unlikely that our three dogs (between two families) are the only to contract it. It would be nice if, in the future, the Resort's staff would take action to notify owners on pick-up or via phone (earlier) if signs of an outbreak were occurring. Given the fact that I see another member posted an issue with this below, I'm more likely to believe the staff exhibited complacency or ignorance toward this issue. For $44/day, cleanliness of the facility and a more proactive response toward issues like this should be benefits. Luckily, there are plenty of other options for pet care. We will not be returning.
