It's sad because as a young black woman there's so much trauma surrounding getting your hair done. Came in and signed in; was not asked what service I booked, was instead told I needed a relaxer ($$ grab) and when I declined was told my hair would be "cute, but not that cute" within minutes of sitting down with Shawna. Sad. :( Washed my hair for legitimately three minutes and was put under the dryer. Got into styling my hair and rushed away from me without warning to go outside and record her previous client. I usually don't mind things like this but she was already rude so no. I paid and left. The saddest part is I was never going to say anything had I not got a call later on in the day from the salon insinuating that I skipped out on my remaining balance of an itty bitty $35............. Realizing their system's error, they apologized and I hung up, not making a big deal of the ignorance I faced today. Young girls steer clear of this salon. read more

So excited to transition into a Pixie look for 2026. Just retired after 30 years of teaching. Did the research, read reviews, saw people with the style, and the name Paula Pixie Perfect came up multiple times. Got my hair done and the more I look at it the madder I get. BEWARE of Shawn Perkins at Pixie Perfect if you do not have 6 weeks to regrow and redo your hair, and $350 to waste. She will not follow your instructions or consider the photos you share, instead will RUSH in to cut away without discretion. This hussy unevenly CHOPPED UP MY HAIR while smiling in my face. So do not be taken by the "fake" niceness or her website bio showing years of experience. I left thinking Shawn secretly dislikes Black women and sabotaged my hair. Shaw was late and unapologetic and when I pointed it out, she was salty. This is where I did not follow my intuition, but nonetheless I thought, this is a Black owned business with a husband as an operating partner. Will make the investment. In more ghetto terms, Shawn did my hair and f'ed it up!!!!! and I am embarrassed she got away with it. I am upset not because of the money, but out of frustration of the fake setup. Either the stylists at Pixie Perfect can provide the level of service Paula, the owner can, or there needs to be a sliding scale. Only Paula is worth $350. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I got my hair done at PerfectPixie Salon on July 3rd -- a perm and a style. The stylist, Courtney, did the service. When I left, I noticed a raised, irritated bump on my forehead. I hoped it was just a temporary reaction, but instead, it got worse and now appears to be infected. I had nothing on my forehead before I got there and she insist that this has nothing to do with her and I have "acne". I contacted the salon , expecting at least some concern or accountability. Instead, the owner Paula completely dismissed the issue and told me she has nothing to do with it, that it's not a chemical burn, and that there's nothing she can do. Her only advice? "Go to a dermatologist." The owner Paula has been SO DISRESPECTFUL her nonchalance and negligence has been truly shocking and something must be done because she clearly does this to people This is absolutely unacceptable. I trusted this place with my scalp and hair -- now I'm left with a painful, possibly serious reaction and zero support from the people responsible. Whether it was a chemical reaction, tool mishandling, or poor hygiene, I deserve better than a shrug and a referral to a doctor on my own dime. DISGUSTING This experience was not only unprofessional, it was negligent. Please think twice before trusting your hair or your health to this salon. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Unprofessional experience. Met Shawn in Walmart and she gave me her business card to do my hair. Called her and made an appointment only to show up and she was not there. I note the salon she mentioned she worked at and card had different phone numbers. Either way, do not waste peoples time girlfriend. I can not stop smiling every time I look in the mirror! Paula gave me the perfect pixie and I mean perfect. My hair has never looked or felt this fantastic. The cut is sharp, flattering, and so easy to manage, yet still soft and feminine. What makes Paula truly special is not just her incredible skill with the scissors, but also how she listens. She understood exactly what I wanted (even when I could not fully explain it) and then elevated it beyond what I imagined. The shape, the texture, the way it frames my face, it is absolute magic. This salon is awesome! I had a very bad haircut somewhere else and called on Friday for an appointment on Saturday. Netta was amazing!! She worked me in her schedule. First, my appointment took 7 hours and was charged $350. Second,, salon owner, paula Hawkins, applied chemical that burned my neck area, likely neglected to remove perm from neck area. Third, Her shop freely gives out alcohol to clients which impairs their judgment to dispute services in real time. Additionally, she applied perm and color with no base even though I had just taken out braids and as result she over processed my virgin hair. Lastmy, Paula, refuses to take accountability and attributes my chemical burns to an allergic reaction which 4 well know Maryland cosmetoli have confirmed was neglect from perm she somehow got on my neck. I am beyond disappointed in her lack of empathy. i had to seek medical treatment and incur medical expenses. read more

It's unfortunate that my review rating went from a 5 star to a 2 star but here we are. While The Perfect Pixie does great work and I love my cut, earning them their 5 stars along with the fact that they offer mimosas, tea, water etc., my trust goes a lot further than a few drinks and a good cut. When I rebooked I rebooked in salon, the appointment date comes at the same time that we are getting out of a snowstorm. Understandable as to why they hadn't answered the phone days prior to my appointment date so I could cancel. The day comes and still no answer so I keep calling until I finally got an answer. I understand same day cancellation comes with a fee, fine. The owner Paula Hawkins, who is also my stylist, texts me asking would I like to reschedule for later in the week and we're discussing rescheduling. I check my email to see that I have a receipt from the salon of a charge to my card for $170! Now once again I understand a cancellation fee but $170 when my shampoo and style service was only $85 is crazy. When I text Paula to ask about it all of a sudden no response, not even the next day! When I call the salon, as soon as I mentioned what my concern was I get hit with straight attitude from one of Paula's stylist Diamond. And a response of you could have canceled online. Now even with my first service I didn't book on their website so I wasn't aware of being able to do so. But like I said it wasn't about having a cancellation fee it was the fact that it was double my service price. Paula gets on the phone with attitude as well basically saying that it is what it is, also telling me I could have cancelled online. After a little back and forth she asks me to screenshot a picture of the receipt and send it to her and I can get the number from Diamond because she's in the middle of a shampoo. I get a call back from the salon saying they apologize something was wrong with their system and they'll Zelle me $85. Even after several hours I still hadn't received my refund. So once again my trust goes a lot further than a good cut and a drink. Great work terrible problem solving and because of that I will not be returning. Once again unfortunate because I love my cut, but I can not bring myself to give my money to the salon after this situation again. read more
