This place is under new ownership. Pretty much over night they got ride of most of the staff and took away the personable atmosphere. Prices increased and they added so much more for them to do to make this less of a quick trip. The only reason I came to this place was because the service was so friendly and they had great prices and made me feel good about coming here now it's quiet personality-less and just depressing. Place has gone downhill. I moved away from the area but came back and went to what used to be my favorite club. I was shocked at how downhill it's gone. The guys behind the counter were scummy---they looked like they hadn't showered in days. One guy kept trying to sell me his own stuff (way uncool). They dont test the strength of their cannabis...so how do you know what youre getting? Just because it smells good doesnt mean it will medicate properly. Also they sell straight trash pre rolls. I broke open two of them. One was filled with dry, brown shake, and it smelled like dirt. The other had dark green plant leaf that was crushed and had no scent. read more

Conveniently located just off hwy 50 @ Stockton Blvd. Very nice, secure, family owned and operated shop. They will help you pick the best medicine for your specific needs. Very generous and will give you a fatty for coming in. Try the little chocolates, took one for a migraine and it made the day so much easier to cope. Last time I went in they had cereal (fruity pebbles and fruit loops and some others), they also have medicinal pizza! They have a good selection, I just wish they had more price options. But I love their daily specials! And when they have smalls it's half price. So nice! No other club I know does that. Their staff is nice and will you take care of you of if you keep coming back. I've been to many all over sacramento and I'd say this is by far 1 of my favorites! I have been going to this dispensary for years and find it to be the best in sacramento. No, they don't have fancy displays or BS steep hill THC testing (in reality percentages mean very little), or overpriced concentrates. HOWEVER they offer high quality meds (esp great outdoor!) and great customer service. There is also no wait time and parking is very convenient. It does not have all the bells and whistles of many cannabis clubs in the area, but they make up for it by providing great, decently priced meds-what cannabis clubs are meant for. read more

I was on my way to UC Davis Medical Center and I started having really horrible back spasms from a recent spinal tap. I saw Hugs from the street and went in to see if I could find a medication that could offer some quick relief. I'm very new to this type of medication for my illnesses so I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to strain names and available types. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and empathic to my current pain. I feel like they really cared about me as a patient. The two budtenders offered me several solutions including a dermal patch and CBD honey since I am not a cannabis smoker. They were a bit pricer than expected compared to the few other places I've been... and the germaphobe in me wishes they didn't touch and pack the buds with their bare hands (tongs would be nice guys) but overall I was very happy with the experience and I would visit again. read more

What really made my mind up about this place was the service I received. Brittany genuinely took the time to ask questions based off my responses to what she was telling me about the facility and their options, and even gave some advice based on her own experiences. I was originally referred to Hugs by some helpful folks at the UC Davis Cancer Center. Hugs is a nice, safe, respectable place to buy your medicine. Unlike some dispensaries, I feel completely comfortable going in, shopping, and coming back out to my car at Hugs. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They have many strains to choose from and the knowledgable staff can help you find the perfect strain for your needs. In addition, they also carry a wide selection of edibles. I even found a gluten-free brownie treat. I've had my medical card for over 5 years, and this is the first dispensary I have felt comfortable in. They have a "mom and pop" feel to their store. After finding Hugs, I have not gone anywhere else for my medication. I have referred other cancer patients/survivors to Hugs and all have come back to thank me. *Hints: -Check their daily specials. There is always something for everyone. -As a new customer, you get a gift -Each time you get your meds, they include a little gift. I normally don't make small things a big issue but today I was very dissatisfied with my visit, I come here almost every day and there are 2 people who make me feel very comfortable and welcome and also the security guard is amazing with his greetings to the patients at the door HOWEVER, I now suggest patients to take a careful look at the scale when given their meds. There is a heavy set tall guy in there who once before definitelyB didn't give me the right amount. I didn't say anything because I didn't feel I needed to tell a dispensary professional how much to give the patients, I wanted to wait for the guy with the gauges to help me because he's always super cool but I was forced to go to the guy with the glasses and AGAIN, he said he was giving me a certain amount for what I paid and he tried to hurry up and pour it in the bag off of the scale so I wouldn't catch it but I did, and thank god j spoke up for myself and said he got over on me, he poured it back on the scale and I was right and to my dismay he replied back with "well, I don't know what to tell you, next time speak up, you gotta speak up." I fully regret to inform all patients not everyone is bad there they are mostly...actually ALL of them are extremely cool except the guy who continues to take away from people instead of give the fair amount they pay for, watch the scales and don't let him take advantage of you. Honestly, I have been to plenty dispensaries, and tried several delivery services, and I always end up back at Hugs. The staff is all pretty chill, they're very helpful and personable. Yeah, the place is sort of a dump, but I don't care about that. Their flower prices can be a little more than other places (Jack Herer is 20/g versus 17 at most collectives), but their concentrates and edibles are way cheaper than what you find elsewhere. (MediX Cartridges for $30 versus $40/$45 at other collectives) My absolute favorite part is the convenience of it. You NEVER have to wait to go back, there is rarely a wait for a budtender, and the parking is right up front. Its centrally located to freeways, so easy to get in and out. Other collectives, it's like a 45 minute ordeal just to buy anything. Not at Hugs! I'm in and out in under 10 minutes, and I'm a pretty busy person. I'll take convenience anywhere I can :) read more

I was not overly impressed with Hugs. First the good. The intake was fast and the man at the desk was pleasant. That was the only good. When you get buzzed in, you enter a narrow room with dirty carpet. It was unclear if I was supposed to walk up to the counter or wait to be called. One of the guys behind the counter was really loud and seemed to be extremely stoned. The other guy who was the one who helped me, seemed to randomly talk to other people in the middle of our conversation. I wasn't sure when he was talking to me or one of the guys next to me. The selection was about 1/10th of what was listed on their website menu. To be fair, the did state on the very bottom of the website in subdued font, "Menu updated 14 days ago". The weed was dried out and was stored in tupperware like containers that were open most of the time. The used their hands to get the weed out of the containers. They offer a free a "Free Doobie for every Newbie" which there were out of. read more

Just when I thought that I found a regular place, they change up ownership. My dissatisfaction couldn't be resonated more after my last visit. It's utterly choatic with new system in place. When I arrived, there were two people ahead of me. When I left, the entire waiting room was filled and the line was wrapped to the door. The new register system was failure. It took about 5 minutes to get an eighth that I preselected in line. Wow. It put me in an uncomfortable position with the other patients like I'm trying to be the one rude guy abusing sampling privileges. Left a weird, pungent taste in my mouth. The greatest disappointment is the product change out. You won't be finding anything that you loved here before because they are planning on carrying an entire new inventory when it comes to alternative medication. 15 dollar eights are a thing of the past here now.
