Amy is a perfectionist! She takes time to frame your eyebrows to be perfectly even and equidistant, while making sure the brows look completely natural with the beautiful strokes. Each stroke mimics an eyebrow with amazing accuracy. I needed my brows darker so that I can get up and go in the mornings without spending a great of deal of time, touching up my brows. This was perfect. My brows are darker and more refined now. It's amazing what Amy does. If you are not sure about getting your brows defined and nicely framed for your face, don't hesitate to see her. She will turn your brows into gorgeous brows. I've been going to Amy since 2009 and I seriously wouldn't let anyone else touch my brows. She's been amazing from day one. This experience happened a few years ago during pandemic, but I feel it's still worth sharing for anyone considering this service. I had my eyebrows done twice by Amy. The first visit included both microblading and machine work. I liked the results from the machine, but the regular microblading didn't take very well, she mentioned several times that I was bleeding heavily and asked me if I was on any medication or blood thinners. Since it was my first experience, I didn't know what was normal. It was also quite painful, but again... I assumed that was just part of the process. Where things became uncomfortable was her demeanor. When I asked for a slight change in my brow shape, she seemed frustrated and repeatedly insisted that "this is what works for your face." While mapping my brows, she looked me up and down in a way that made me feel self-conscious. She also made several comments about my "big brow bone." She kept adjusting the shape and would take a deep breath and sigh loudly and say it's because of my bone structure and huge brow bone. (Definitely not her problem as my face is to blame apparently) She was dry and somewhat rude, but I just went along with it because confrontation is hard for me, plus I did not want to upset someone who was about to work on my brows with a sharp object, and I definitely don't want any tension or frustration to affect my end result. During the appointment, she took a random 2-3 minute break, and I could hear her slurping food nearby before returning to work on me. Under her mask, she kept quietly burping, which made the experience very uncomfortable with her being so close to my face. Take a lunch break. Being so focused on cramming in as many clients as possible in a single day that you have to eat while you work is just ridiculous. I get being busy but this was unprofessional. The second visit was for a touch-up about two years later. When I came in, I struggled a bit getting onto the tall stool (I'm short, and also on the plus side). And the stool creaked, she flinched SO dramatically, looked at my body, and said, "Did you gain weight since last time? I was completely embarrassed and caught off guard. I awkwardly replied, "I don't think so." The rest of the visit felt tense and uncomfortable. After that, I realized there are many other places offering this service with kind, professional staff, and I decided I would not return. I also want to add that since switching to a new place, I haven't experienced the heavy bleeding or pain I had here, which makes me feel that Amy may have been heavy-handed, or maybe the numbing cream wasn't great for me. This simply wasn't a good fit for me. If she works for you, that's great, but I felt it was important to share my experience. I really have light to no brows because I used to tweeze them in my younger years and totally regret it. My brows never grew back normally. I just finished my appt with Amy and she is absolutely amyyyyyzing!! I am confident to let her use my face as her canvas. Describing her as a perfectionist is an understatement. She's extremely meticulous and spends more than enough time simply just drafting your eyebrows your liking before taking any tools to them. Brief history: I first had my eyebrows done with permanent make up in 2007 at Venus Permanent makeup for more than $500! As a second year college student, the price was a bit steep for the results and the PAIN that came with it. I didn't get my eyebrows redone again until 2014 with Amy, who I found on Yelp. After much research I decided to take my business to Amy, as she was nearby with ample parking, had stellar reviews, and more than fair prices. She's a little quiet but that's because a lot of her focus and attention is toward her work, which I appreciate. Her English isn't the best.. But she can understand it as well as I understand her Cantonese. (She speaks to me in her mother tongue as I respond in English..) 8 months ago, I made the mistake of going to another place to get my eyebrows done in San Jose, only because a friend lived down that way and wanted me to get them done with her as it was her first time. The results were mediocre, and unnatural looking. The appt was very quick .. a lot quicker than what I was used to with Amy, who spends time adding strokes after strokes to make sure it's perfect to her and her clients' standard. When I called Amy last week explaining that I wanted to see her and that I was unhappy with the previous place I went to, she was concerned she might need to do a correction procedure. After reading her policies on her website, I was expecting her to charge me $400, since I got them done at another place within the past year. However, she was extremely sweet and only charged me $280, which is the 2 year touch up cost! She did a miraculous job and I am reallyyyy happy with the results. She really does know what she is doing and I trust that she knows what type of eyebrows looks the best on various face shapes. If I love anything on my face-- it would have to be my eyebrows. Finally, I have found someone who can perfect them every single time! Amy is such a sweetheart. She is patient, honest and very caring. She isn't all about money and time-- she actually likes conversing! She doesn't overbook herself just to get more money. In fact, she spends a great deal of time drawing in your eyebrows until you are completely satisfied with them (she even asks for your input and accepts it freely without getting butthurt). My whole appointment took a little over an hour and a half. Through out the tattooing, Amy kept checking up on me to see if she needed to add more numbing gel. I mean, it's a tattoo so of course some level of pain is to be expected. But I tend to have ultra sensitive skin so she did everything she could to make it less painful. Amy's salon is very sanitary and free of clutter. To add to the clean setting, she has soothing music playing in the background-- talk about "perfect" ambiance for getting a tattoo! To put things into perspective, about 5 years ago I had my eyebrows tattooed for the first time at a different salon. My eyebrows started out looking great-- but over time they began to fade into a purple tone at the ends of my tails and pinkish tone at random places throughout the tattoo. My eyebrows also began looking patchy so when I filled in my brows, I had to carefully fill in only the bald spots. It was kind of difficult because if I just drew lines over the bald and hair-filled areas, my eyebrows would then look too fake and done up. By appointment only - she doesn't cater to any kind of working hours so be prepared to use some sick hours or PTO. Not open on the weekends and only few days during the week and her last appointment is at 2 pm. I had an initial and a touch up. Both appointments she ran late for because she was working on somebody else. But if you're late, she charged your credit card (which she asks for ahead of time). Pricing is expensive and quality is eh. First was $500 and her touch up prices range based on how many months you come back from your initial and I think mine was $300. Quality - she did the micro blading the first time which she claimed didn't take well so the second time she used the machine. Now, two stars only because I have a faint shape that appears BUT I still have to fill in with make up everyday. I'll be doing it again soon but not with Amy. Customer service - zero stars if possible; there is nothing nice about her. Both times she was complaining about my prior tattoo jobs and I told her I was coming to her for her to fix it because "she's so good." I had my first appointment to have my eyebrows done the end of December 2013. I absolutely looooooove them! Amy took a lot of time to draw them on and make sure they looked symmetrical. She had me check them over and over, even having me check another mirror in the seating area just so I could see in different light. She listened to any suggestion I had, even after I said I think they look great, she still stood back, walked to each side of me and made some more adjustments, making it even better. During the procedure she continued to check on me regarding the pain, which for me was not an issue. When she was done with me on the table she then continued to make more adjustments while I was sitting in the chair in front of the mirror. I could not have wished for them to turn out any better! I posted pictures on my FB page and I had several of my fellow non eyebrow having friends (guess its my generation) contact me for her info. So far 2 of them have gone to see her and they absolutely love the finished product as well!! I have had so many compliments, and one person asked me "how do you get your eyebrows so perfect?" (true story, at the NYE party I was at) After the tattooing I made sure to keep the ointment generously on for those first 7 days, not letting it get even a little bit dry one time. They healed up perfectly! I was not even going to go back for the 60 day touch up because they looked great to me. I figured I might as well take advantage of the 60.00 touch up fee within the first 60 days though. I also felt that even though I felt they were fine, that Amy would really make sure and touch up and perfect any spots. She really did! This is an update after a touch up in September == The tattoo and previous touch up was so well done that I could have waited another few months. Amy suggested to widen the eyebrows (vertically); I love it that she makes trend suggestions that would not go out of style. Initially I hesitated and then was surprised with how dark the brows were. Amy advised me to be patient as the brows would lighten to a natural look as it heals. She was right, after a week or two, the brows look very natural. Amy was always responsive to ensure I know what to expect as the brows change from day to day until they are completely healed. Amy is a consummate of a perfectionist. I just had a touch-up on my eyebrows and eyeliner with Amy. I go back every year or so to make sure my look is perfect. FYI, eyeliner hurts, but is worth it for me. I just had my brows done by Amy yesterday and so far they look amazing. I think this is the 3rd time I have been to her. As usual she is very professional and so meticulous in her work. She takes a lot of time drawing and shaping the brows to both our satisfaction and even more time actually executing the drawing. Her salon is very clean and comfortable and I saw that she really sanitized every thing she used. She is cash only but worth every penny. And another thing that impressed me was her honesty and integrity. I loved the photos of Amy's work, and she seemed to be the only highly rated and yet still reasonably priced provider in SF proper. Unfortunately I ended up going with another provider (solely because other provider is friends with a good friend of mine) but Amy was always easy to talk to, schedule appointments with and communicate with. Don't fall for the hype. I had my eyebrows tattooed here despite the handful of negative reviews because I felt that the positive reviews far outweighed the negative, but boy was I wrong. I think the reason there are only a handful of negative review is because people, myself included, who had bad experiences don't want to look like fools for paying $800 for eyebrows and eyeliner that they still have to draw on. First, the pics on her website are right after she does the first inking so the detailed lines are clear and will sell you on her process but what she doesn't show you are how they look like that following week when they have all flaked off. I of course went back to get a retouch as soon as I could because I wanted to obtain the look from the first day, well that and to straighten out the eyebrow that was shorter than the other (which she claimed to be my face, not the eyebrow :/ ) but what I ended up with was nowhere near. So instead of going back giving her hundreds more of my dollars, I'll be going to someone a little old lady referred me to. Her eyebrows were what the youngsters call "on fleek" and she only paid $75!! Oh and she had her tattooed over 3 yrs. ago! Man I got screwed! Oh and did I mention that my black eyeliner came out silver/grey, so everyone thinks I'm wearing silver liner on my lids. Sigh.... Save your money. read more

I cannot say enough great things about my experience both with Amy and the eyebrow procedure. I have always had thin, sparse and very light (read: non-existent) eyebrows, and I purchased every pencil, cream, growth serum and dye in futile attempts to improve them. Nothing really works. My appointment with Amy was back in September of 2016 (sorry for taking so long to pen this, Amy), and I am happy to report that not only did my recovery process proceed as she advised, but also that I remain as thrilled today as I was in late-September when peeling stopped and my brows looked natural. She knows what she is doing (and you must know that I am a big baby), is thoughtful, careful and has a masterful eye. The size, shape and color she selected was perfect, and I have not drawn or filled-in my brows since September. If you are considering this procedure, Amy is amazing. I went to Amy this passed for my eyebrow tatooinng. I chose her due to great reviews and her portfolios pictures. She kept on telling me to relax my face over and over. I told her my face is relaxed. She didn't ask me if I wanted thin or thick eyebrows. She just started drawing and I told her if she could not make them thick. But she drew them anyway. I told her if she could do less of a thick eyebrow and she did. They were great! So we proceeded and she said she could do it. After my session I liked in the mirror and wanted to cry! I felt so botched..one eyebrow longer than the other. Not to mention my right eyebrow higher than the other!. When I told her this she seemed upset and replied to me "You don't know what beautiful is" She tried to adjust it but was unsuccessful. Then she told me it's already five thirty it's late "Will fix next time, one month touch up ok" I start a new job in less than 2 weeks and I look like freaking Groucho. Marx. Looks like I'm the only dissenting view, but I must write this review because my experience was nothing short of horrible. I am never coming back here again, and you should not give it a try. Dishonest business alert! Your brows will initially come out like the pictures she is posting, but will discolor, and become light and blotchy in 3-5 days even if you follow directions perfectly. She will try to charge you hundreds of dollars over the year to fix work that should have been done correctly in the first place. Not only does the owner overcharge, but she is extremely rude and money-hungry! The owner argued that she wouldn't correct her work, claiming that I needed a touch up. When my boyfriend called to respectfully reason with her, she hung up on him. Nice business etiquette. As she was redoing my brows after I paid another 25 dollars for work which should have been done the first time, she was hostile to me while fixing her work. Take your hard-earned money somewhere honest that will not bombard you with hidden costs and fees. Get this: after my boyfriend and I called her to RESPECTFULLY reason with her, SHE CALLED MY MOTHER TO TELL HER THAT I WAS HARASSING HER. Perfection 3D Eyebrows - not worth 300 dollars - Permanent Makeup Near Me - San Francisco, California

I first had my eyebrows done four years ago at HV Hair & Nail Salon in San Jose at a third of the price for the first session. However, I just wasn't sure if I'd always want to spare a couple of hours to an entire day on weekends to make the trek down to San Jose even if it was only once every few years. So after poring over review after review on Yelp for eyebrow tattoo places in the city, I became the most comfortable with the reviews offered for Perfection 3D Eyebrows. And despite what I felt were exorbitant prices listed on the website, I decided to call Amy for an appointment. These were the things I was really happy with: 1) The place is only 15 minutes from where I live and there is plenty of free street parking available. 2) The website was straight forward and absolutely clear about how much you were going to pay. When you call Amy for an appointment, she will tell you that she can give you an estimate at the consultation. 3) I had thought that all I would need would be a touch-up to darken the color of my brows, which had not received a touch up in three years. I did not think that I was going to need the entire two hours Amy had allocated for me. I'm glad that she did allocate that amount of time because the consultation alone probably took up at least 20 of those minutes. 4) Upon initial inspection during the consultation, Amy pointed out that my brow shape was a little droopy and the tail end was a bit longer than should be. She subtly reshaped my brows when she penciled it onto my face to give me a more alert look. I pointed to a picture on the poster in the front of the room showing sample brows to explain to her how I wanted my brows to look and she agreed that that was the look she was striving for. 5) I appreciated that the consultation was in fact a consultation. Over at HV, the lady there practically ignores you, gives you the she-knows-best attitude, and gives off the vibe that you are lucky she even lets you pay her to do your brows. Yes, there was a communication barrier in that I could not speak in Vietnamese to the lady at HV and Amy could speak in both English and Cantonese, but I don't see language as a reason for bad service. 6) As noted by a previous reviewer, Amy was generous with the numbing cream. She periodically checked on me to see how I was holding up pain-wise. I have come to the realization that I am extremely sensitive to pain, but I also have a high threshold for pain, so if I don't need to put up with the pain, I will most certainly opt not to. After the second application of numbing cream, I did not have to hold my breath each time the needle went in. Not to stay that I no longer felt any pain, but this was a HUGE improvement over my sessions at HV where my eyes were just watering from the pain especially when the needle was retracing over the same areas. A friend of mine noted that this may have definitely been worth paying up for. 7) After Amy was done, she had me get off the bed and seated in a high chair facing a mirror where we both scrutinized the work performed. I would point out where I felt still needed work and she would examine the area and apply more ink. She would look at my face again to ensure that the brows were symmetrical and in balance with my face, and then she would apply ink again. We probably went back and forth like this for at least 15 minutes until we were both satisfied. I could not have been happier with her quality of work and how willing she was to perform to my satisfaction. If I was at HV, the lady would have given me the look threatening to b*tch slap me if I were to point out that her work was not yet done (I know this from experience). Hands down, I believe I made a GREAT decision to go with Amy. I just had to take one star off though for the price. As much as I try to justify the price to myself, I can probably make it worth my while heading down to San Jose by combo-ing getting my eyebrows done with a visit to one of my favorite restaurants....but I plan to come back to Amy because I simply like her better, she is 15 minutes away, and the eyebrow tattooing procedure will be a little less painful and a little less dreaded. read more

I finally did it. After years of research, I *finally* got my eyebrows tattooed! NO more "Damn! i don't have my eyebrow powder and brush on me, so I guess this really black chola waterproof eyeliner will have to do!". NO more running into exes/nemeses at supermarkets/parties without my eyebrows on and being pretty sure they were thinking "damn, Karen looks toe' up!" NO more anxiety when I'm exercising and hoping my eyebrows aren't smeared or running down my face! My "brow-search" spanned several years. I had a consultation with Juv Essentials a few years ago, but chickened out (nothing wrong with them, I just wasn't ready then). I was also considering "Faces Plus" in Chinatown, but then decided I shouldn't have anything done to my face in Chinatown. I've scoured good and bad reviews of permanent makeup online. I've talked to friends who've had it done. I've been freaked out by the old Asian ladies with blue/green/pink eyebrows, and by the Asian girls with light brown (um,why?) fob-y eyebrows... Gosh darn it, I've done it all! What finally pushed me do it (besides the drag of having to put brows on every day)? Honestly? I have a 10-day trek in Nepal scheduled early next year and the thought of having to put my eyebrows on in the Himalayas and being the "high maintenance" one in the trekking group is unacceptable to me. I know, it's neurotic, somewhat ironic, and a "First World problem", but I don't care. The last thing I want to think about during what I'm pretty sure will be an awesome experience are whether my eyebrows are on or not. With that said, I'm really glad I went to Amy! She's both sweet and no-nonsense, conversational, and gladly accommodated my crazy ass who kept calling her and changing the appointment day and time. I was her last appointment on a busy Saturday. I thought maybe she'd be all "spent" from tattooing brows all day, but she totally took her time with me and was not in a rush at all! She spent a lot of time making sure my brow arches, tails, etc. were what I wanted. I sat on a stool facing a big mirror on the wall while she drew eyebrows shapes on my face and asked me what I thought. Amy studied my face and furrowed her own brows in concentration as she assessed her work. I would then provide feedback, and she adjusted accordingly until I was completely satisfied. After a little numbing cream, and a little tattooing, I was done and done! My eyebrows were dark immediately after the procedure (and yes, that's a little unnerving to look at), but the shape was spot-on. After a week or so, the scabs fell off, and they are much lighter and totally natural-looking. My god mother recommended for my mom and I to come here to see a lady named Amy for us to get our eyebrows done. My mom had her eyebrows tattooed over 10years now and was in need for a touch up. As for me, I got tired of drawing in my eyebrows everyday, so I decided to get them done. Let me tell you: A- amazing!! M- master artist!! Y- yes!!! Definitely go to her for your eyebrows!!! Amy is wonderful, patient and a perfectionist. She first shaded in my brows to see which would suit my face. She took her time in perfecting it so that each brow was symmetrical. She made sure that I was positive if I wanted the brow to look the way it did. Finally after shading it to the way I wanted it, Amy got all her equipment out and showed me that everything was new and cleansed. She first added numbing cream onto my eyebrows and waited about ten minutes so that the numbing cream would work. Then she started working on my brows. The first few minutes did hGurt a bit but you'll get use to the pain. From time to time she would pause to see if I was doing okay. After the whole procedure, she made some last final touches to perfect it. She also provided some Vaseline cream for me to apply onto my eyebrows. Amy informed me on how I needed to take care of my eyebrows in order for it to last. She was very informative and professional. My mom had a wonderful experience with Amy. As you will see in my prior reviews, I am not a paid spokesperson, but a real living client. If you are looking for a perfectionist to do your brows, eyeliners, or lip liner, invest a few minutes of your time and read my reviews. Just a quick update on the work Amy has done on me since the first time I've seen her: It's been a good few months since I had my brows, eyeliners, and lips done by Amy. Since then, each morning I wake up to brush my teeth, I look in the mirror, and cannot believe how "made up" I look. Happy as can be. I certainly know that I am not a great beauty, but after the permanent make-up done by Amy, I must admit, I looked pretty good for a 50-year old who just literally rolled out of bed. The brows look very realistic, just like real hair on the brows. The eyeliner is true to her business' name - Perfection. You see, I have to use Restasis and other eye drops throughout the day for my dry eyes, so with the permanent eyeliner, I don't have to worry about raccoon eyes anymore. The lip liner actually make my lips look fuller - like the lips I had when I was in my youth. I congratulate myself on trusting my gut instinct when I chose Amy to do the work. She did not fail me. Amazing!! I went to see Amy for a correction. I had my eyebrows done a couple of years ago- solid black. The shape was ok but the color faded from black to blue. Amy was able to create the look of amazing natural eyebrows where black harsh sharpie marker looking lines were before. I had to go in a month later for a touch up and yes it sucks that I have to pay for a touch up. Because my correction was difficult, my touch up was $80. But you get what you pay for. I am more then happy to get amazing service, beautiful eyebrows and pay more. My only complaint is, Amy was a little stingy on the topical lidocaine. But no pain, no gain. read more

Perfection alright!! I've been coming to Amy for over a year now, I was referred to her from a GF that has perfect eyebrows. Previously my eyebrows were arched too high (thanks to the threading ladies at the mall). I went to Amy for help, and she was a bit shocked to see how bad my brows were. No offense, I knew they were bad. Now. she's trained them to sit lower, a bit fuller and so much sexier. Sure I have to fill in here and there for the POW look, but its 10x better. I go to her every 3-4 weeks for a tune-up, and I leave looking so purty :) I just got the 3D eyebrows, and I love, love, love them. Amy did an amazing job with my permanent eyeliner. She did everything by hand, no scary machines were involved. Yes, it was painful but not as much as I expected. The numbing cream helped. She takes her time and makes sure it is just right. I'm really happy with the results. I no longer look like a zombie in the morning. read more

I like the shape, but the right side is a little bit longer that the left side. Some areas are no color now. I hope Amy will fix it when I do the touch up. The color is a bit lighter than I was expect. By the way, it was painful during the procedure...And Amy is a nice person. She spent two hours on my eyebrows. read more

Incredible work, just amazing. I'm Planning on going to Hawaii. I was not trying to rely on my Anastasia waterproof eyebrow pencil. Think of all the money you'll save. . .My eyebrows are not even close to the same, the left one at the end goes up. I knew it would be a challenge. Good thing I did my research! Before, I started waxing my eyebrows were thicker. I stopped waxing threading for five years. Waste of time and money. Permanent make up is the smartest investment. Touch ups might be needed but if you pay attention to the after care it's unnecessary. The numbing cream I feel like didn't work for me. If you've gotten a tattoo before you'll be fine. If not, I'd think about your pain tolerance before coming in. Even so Amy is so fast! I felt like the whole appointment was 45 minutes. I looked at my phone it was two hours. Still happy with my eyebrows! Nobody can tell it's tattooed unless I tell them and they look up close! I went camping and eyebrows make a big difference! I look beautiful and swimming? It's great! I will be coming back to Amy to get upper eyelid done and maybe my lips. read more

8 days later my brows healed nicely. Some areas are lighter than others so I will need to go in for a touch up. It's the best it's ever been so I love it.
