Went to get an aftermarket exhaust put on my car. Was told by over a dozen people who have had theirs installed that it would cost $100 - $150 and it would be no more than an hour install. It required no welding or anything, just bolts and clamps, in essence a replacement to the OEM. I tell the guy working there and show him the bolts and clamps and he proceeds to want to charge $381. I try to assure him that it would be no longer than an hour. He challenged that and argued that it would be three hours of labor which was the main reason it cost so much. He had some sarcastic, smart ass remarks that I didn't appreciate as well as telling me he "had shit to do" after giving me the bill. I left there, was able to find another and more professional place of business and like I said, it was less than an hour of work and half the price he quoted me. I should've known when I pulled up here on a Saturday morning and didn't see any other customers. Don't come here. read more

He does what he says, communicates by calling and updating you (though not over much), and completes the work on time at a fair price. I've brought 2 Honda's here for 100K mile maintence and Minh and staff did a great job both times. As a woman it's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic and Minh is most certainly that. Prices and labor are fair & he explains everything they do to your car, and in instances where price has been an issue he suggested what had to be done and what could wait. I've gone to the dealership countless times and they've made it seem like my car would explode if I didn't get the thousands of dollars in repairs. One such case was with a steering issue. The dealership told me I needed $300 worth of repairs for a leak, I took it to Minh, he refilled the steering fluid (for free), told me to come back in a few days and he'd check the fluid levels, and the problem was resolved. I am a fan of Performance Exhaust because they fixed my catalytic converter for just over $300 after a dealership had quoted me $1600 for the same repairs. Also, the people there were very pleasant, and worked on my car quickly. My appointment was for 9 am, and within less than an hour, they had confirmed a diagnosis of the problem and told me my car would be ready in a little over 2 hours. True to their word, in a little over 2 hours, my car was ready. Was referred to these guys by Sandy at Automotive Professionals as they don't handle exhaust issues. Brought the Volvo over on a Tuesday afternoon complaining of a cracked exhaust manifold, which I was told was most likely the issue by Automotive Professionals. Minh (store manager) came out to look at the car, determined that the exhaust manifold was not the issue and discovered the true problem, which was with the down pipe flange gasket, in about 5 minutes. Minh put in an order for the parts and told me he would give me a call around 11am the next day. True to his word, Minh called me at 11:35 to let me know the part had come in and that I could drop off the Volvo. Showed up around noon, was told the job would take about an hour and a half, and received a call back @ 13:34. In addition to the gasket issue, they welded by catalytic converter for $20 after they'd found a crack. Ultimately, the cost was reasonable, and these guys are very responsive and provided great customer service. I no longer have carbon monoxide pouring through my vents, and the Volvo is no longer loud enough to wake the neighbors. 5 stars! read more

I was referred to Performance Exhaust by Stephanie at Gerber Collision and Glass in Decatur. I called on a Monday evening and was able to get an appointment the next day, Tuesday at 11:30AM. Minh and his team of mechanics did a diagnostic test on my car and told me I needed a new O2 sensor and exhaust pipe. He asked if I wanted to get my car fixed that day. The repairs took 2 hours. His mechanic, Kenny, took me home and came back to pick me up when my car was finished. I highly recommend this shop to everyone. My windshield wipers completely gave out on me during a very rainy day. One flopped off the side of the car and the other gave up after 2 swishes. After driving around with the visibility of a steamy shower door, I found Performance Exhaust II. I pulled in and was warmly welcomed by Minh, who got to work on my car right away. Definitely think twice about going there, those guys may be scammers!! They put in a catalytic converter in my VW, but it broke down after barely a month. When I went there to get a new one under their warranty, they refused to give me a new warrenty for the second converter. They said it's a standard practice at dealerships. However, one dealership and one VW mechanic told me it's not true. When I went to Performance Exhaust to get an explanation, they started changing their story and never gave me a straight answer why I am not getting a new warranty for a new part. They also told me they moved a coverter sensor to a different part of my engine to get "better reading". That was really suspicious to me, because the manufacturer certainly knows the best where the sensor gets better reading. My mechanic later told me those guys use generic catalictic converters that may not work for every vehicle. Those converters can last for a little, but they're not a long-term solution. It appears guys at Performance Exhaust give you a low price by using low-quality parts, but they compensate by refusing to give you a proper warranty; and it seems the parts don't last very long. I got recommend her by my manager who had some work done and they did not disappoint. i have an old 85 El camino and one day the tail pipe and muffler decided to fall apart on me. i rolled up and these guys got it taken care of within 2 hours for about $200. they didn't even try to upsell me like the meinike around the block who told me the "whole exhaust system was shot" just because I'm a girl with an old car. awesome guys, I definitely recommend them to anyone else i know who needs exhaust work done. read more

Our first visit to Performance Exhaust yesterday. The muffler on our 2000 Chevy Blazer became separated from the catalytic converter because of a faulty repair done by another shop and was very noisy. Friendly and polite, Minh quickly put the Blazer up on one of their lifts to give us a free estimate, which I was very pleased with his quote. In a little over two hours the team at Performance cut out the bad section of exhaust pipe, welded new stock into place, and even had an employee walk two doors down to an auto parts supplier to pick up a new gasket to fit the joint between the header and the exhaust system. There were two other customers in the waiting room both of whom had worked with Performance previously and spoke highly of this company's service. If you are looking for an automotive exhaust specialist who can weld on existing systems, build custom exhaust installations, and offers routine mechanical service at great prices, Performance Exhaust in Decatur, GA is a good shop to do business with.
