Rude! I've never been to this location before so I called in to see if they would assist me with the issue I was having with my car. It was an older black guy with grey hair (i believe in his beard/mustache and/or his hair) who spoke to me in a very condescending, agitated tone over the phone. I hung up. Found that location and went inside. When I got there, the older man said nothing to me, he actually was talking sh* t to the other guy that was there as I scan the house looking for my item, but he thought that I did not hear him and because of that I didn't buy anything from the store. BUT there was a younger guy there, who was very polite and he helped me and explained to me what the problem could be. He also let me know that the issue I was experiencing wasn't something that they could look into, but he was able to give me information on how to solve the problem and pointed me in the right direction. He was also patient with me (being that I was saying the name wrong of the part that I needed), but we figured it out. **just a word of advice for the future; not everyone (especially us women) knows about cars and not everyone knows the proper term for certain names/ parts needed for cars. especially when alot of ppl always take their car to the shop for issues, but then one day at 8pm/ish it does something random (and you aren't near home ) so you freak out and you try to get the problem fix immediately. I understand it was maybe 45 minutes before they close. However, this is their job and the store still had 45mins until closing . It's completely OK to be kind and give grace to ppl, especially nowadays! You never know what someone is going through :) 2.7/5 for overall experience. read more

On December 28, 2023, I visited location #0967 for what should have been a quick and simple purchase for a replacement bulb for the high-mounted brake light on my 2021 Kia Forte and it was anything but that. When I entered the store, there was Reggae music playing rather loudly, but that's not the problem... There was an older gentleman behind the counter who was on the phone and a few minutes elapsed before he ended the call and "assisted" me. His name is Mr. "George O," who was less than helpful to say the least and if I could give zero stars I would! I told Mr. George that I needed a replacement bulb for the high-mounted brake light on my 2021 Kia Forte. He appeared to have difficulty locating the model number for the item in the computer. Again, not a problem, because I told him I could go look to make sure. As I walked toward the window, he followed me and when he realized that I had backed my car into the parking space, he promptly chastised me, which I found to be quite rude and condescending. I told him that the issue I'm having is in the rear of the vehicle, so to me it made sense to back into the space for easy access. He then followed me out the door to retrieve the bulb from the light fixture in the TRUNK of the car. We went back into the store and he found a bulb for me (Sylvania 1129LL), which I promptly pointed out had a different color base (gold) than the bulb that was originally installed (silver). He said "it doesn't matter, it's the same." He went on to install the bulb and asked me to test the light by pressing the brake pedal. He said that the light was working, so we both went back inside so I could pay. Upon leaving the store, I tested the brake light again before I left the parking lot to make sure it was still working, and I did not see the high-mounted brake light come on in the reflection of the window and could only see the two lights on either side. Another customer arrived around that time and I asked him to take a look for me to verify if the light was working and he said it was not. So I went back into the store and let Mr. George know that the bulb was not working. Mr. George came out and asked me to test it again in the presence of the customer that I had asked earlier and they both witnessed that it was not working. The customer noticed that the bulb had blown. So we all go back inside and Mr. George finds another bulb (Sylvania 1156LL) and oddly enough it has the same color base as the original bulb (silver). I point out that fact and he seemed annoyed and dismissed me saying "it's the same." So I take the new replacement bulb and install it myself, and low and behold, the high-mounted brake light worked! Something told me to check the price of the replacement bulb online and it was $1.00 cheaper than the wrong bulb Mr. George sold me. So by now, I'm upset because it felt like Mr. George was trying to pull a fast one. I go back into the store to check the shelf tag myself and sure enough, the correct bulb (silver) was $7.99 as opposed to $8.99 for the wrong bulb (gold). Unacceptable! Next, I asked to speak to a manager, and I believe that the gentleman I spoke to was David Wade, he said he was the acting manager. While I was speaking to the manager, Mr. George was argumentative saying that it was "no big deal" at which time I asked him to please stop addressing me regarding the matter now that I was speaking with the manager. Mr. David told Mr. George that "it is a big deal" and that he would handle it from here. I told Mr. David that I thought that Mr. George's behavior was unsettling and extremely unprofessional and I felt he was trying to take advantage of me because I'm a woman and assumed that I'm ignorant about basic car maintenance. Fortunately, Mr. David apologized for the experience I had and promptly refunded my money. What's the moral of the story? If you're a woman, do your research so that you know what you need before you do business with someone--especially when they exhibit a toxic, misogynistic and patriarchal attitude. read more

The notable aspect of my visit was Desean. He was incredibly kind and understanding in a time of desperation. Every step of the way to diagnose my battery issues, he went above and beyond. Cleaning the corrosion, making jokes so I wouldn't cry at my new car problems, just being a great person in general. In the end I needed both a new starter and a battery, and when I came back he remembered me from a couple days prior and we fell back into conversing like old friends out at the hood of my car. I was so glad to see his face when I walked in that second time because I knew I wouldn't leave crying - somehow become an emotional wreck with car issues. I visited Autozone at 2514 Lawrenceville Hwy, Decatur on 8/16/2020 at 12:22PM. I stopped in for a quick purchase of MAGIC TIRE! This concoction makes tires shiny for weeks and was on Sale for $5.49!!! I almost purchased an applicator that cost more than the product itself, luckily I had a Veteran Autozone employee give me great advice on how to properly apply this MAGIC TIRE product; which did not require an applicator. Sure, you use more product by spray on only; a cost I am willing to absorb for weeks of shiny tires to match my shiny waxed vehicle!!! Thank You Cashier #27!! The store opens early in the morning, which is good especially if you need a tire plug because you get a flat tire on your way to work. (hmm...this may be just me!) The store has plenty of parking which is nice, but their it is a little turned around when you are leaving. No big deal though. The storefront is nice and lit up. It was clean of debris too. I was greeted by a nice guy who was behind the counter and he told me where to find what I was looking for. I wish that he would had offered to show me the plugs because there were 10 different kinds of plugs/patches and I had no idea what I needed and he never asked. I called my husband who then told me what I needed to buy. I was asked about being part of their customer club thing when I was checking out. We had a challenge with buying and replacing the windshield wipers due to the speciality, however the staff helped us figure it out and even helped replace them before we left. This is a good Autozone to go to...for many reasons! So, let's start. 1) Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. 2) Store is pretty clean most of the time. 3) Good prices all around on their products. 4) They will test your battery and alternator for free. 5) They will install your battery for free. 6) They will scan your ECU for trouble codes and provide you with a printout of the issue...yes, for free. I would give them 5 stars but they don't always carry the parts/tools i need. I drive a Audi and sometimes the parts can be hard to come by. Also, the fancy-pants Germans decided that you need to use 5 different types of sockets and such to disassemble a part. Guess that is not Autozone's fault but I have to blame someone. read more

Had a TERRIBLE experience at this location today..just needed fuses for my van, also needed help putting them in..Well the Manager-Genetre was extremely rude, and ignored me the entire hour I was trying to figure out where to put the fuses. Then employee- Donovan yelled at me and continued to shout and curse me after I asked him for help. Now both of these employees helped 10+ other customers install and assist with headlights and wiper blades, etc..but neither one of these employees offered to assist me...I have been using Auto Zone for over 5 years and have NEVER been treated so badly.. I've swung by this AutoZone a couple times, once for some new wipas and then for a ice scraper, becuase I know it's a freakishly warm winter, but my damn windshield has frozen twice thus far, and I have had to sit in the car with the defrost blasting and wipers wiping for like 10 minutes, and that is a waste of my time! The staff seems pretty helpful, like if I had to get a more complicated part, they would know what to do. Also, last time I was there, the cashier complimented me on how my red glasses frames match my red bag, and I was like, Oh I am a designer and I am obsessively matchy-matchy, and turned out he is in design school for fashion at SCAD. I went into Auto Zone because I had some weird lights going off on my instrument panel..I had to wait a couple of minutes because they were busy..but, that was cool. The guy took the obd tool out to my car..did a readout and told me what was wrong with the car. FOR FREE!!!!! This Autozone is where it's at! After being quoted $600 for alternator and battery replacement (along with a laundry list of other things that are wrong with my new car) from "#1 Decatur Pro Auto", I went to Autozone to get a second opinion. Boy am I glad I did! These folks are nice, honest, and saved me $500!!!!! They tested my battery and alternator for free and said, "I don't know what they were testing at pro auto, but your alternator is fine". It was just the old battery that had a dead cell. I bought a new battery for less than $100 and they dropped it in for free! My car starts reliably, the battery has a 7 year warranty and I didn't have to dump $600 on dishonest mechanics. The people are nice and helpful, but there are never enough of them. The line (note singular) frequently gets quite long. This is not a problem exclusive to this Auto-Zone, most Auto-Zones seem to be this way. I am frequently disappointed with the selection in-house. I can usually order the parts that I want, but sometimes I'd like them to have a bit more on the floor. Their return policy could use some improvement as well. I bought a Turtle Wax trim restoration product that did not work as advertised so I returned it, or at least I tried to. Even though I had the original receipt, they would not accept it because I had opened it. Of course I opened it - how else am I going to use it? If I go to Kroger and I buy their coffee and it tastes like crap, I bring it back and they give me my money back - receipt or no receipt. AutoZone could learn a lesson from them, but then maybe not, since they are really the only game around since PepBoys left my area. I could go to O'Reillys, but they seem smaller than AutoZone even. I'm going to buy whatever I can from Amazon or just go to Wal-Mart from now on. read more
