Wow. Should've read the reviews before coming to this place. I walked in and there was a nice employee who helped me find a pair of pants to try on. Unfortunately they were out of my price range and I asked him if they had cheaper ones. He was very kind. An older lady who also worked there chimed into the conversation and says "you'll never find that price in aspen" and started laughing. How rude! I asked if they had any in the $150 range. Then I walked across the street to Incline and bought some for $75... the staff was super nice there. Do not waste your time at Performance. read more

10/10 customer service. The staff is incredible, knowledgeable, and helped my poor fiancé who's jacket tore on the mountain with feathers flying across the sky. No bueno! The owners sewed up his Aztech Mountain suit to look brand new. They also carry the best soft sweaters that are perfect for apres ski, especially the beautiful colorful Elder Statesman! I am completely obsessed with this place. Super cool, local, family owned shop that CARE about their products. I bought my Aztech nuke suit there and love this thing more than my labradoodle. Unfortunately, My arm snagged a tree while cruising down the mountain. I had a slight tear in the arm so I went to Performance ski crying like a baby. The owners sewed it up immediately. Long time local and this place is the worst. The owner is infamous for mistreating her employees and being rude to locals who aren't millionaires (). Before I knew about the owners reputation I tried on a few swimsuits, she called me fat and told me I might have more luck at Target. Walked by recently and heard her telling a group of people that COVID was over... pretty gross all around. There are plenty of other ski shops to support. read more

As an Aspen local, we know a lot about the people who we deal with everyday. And trust me, there is not a local that would be caught dead in this store. They are know for being rude, abusive to staff and customers, and some of the meanest people in town. They treat their staff poorly, refused to following Aspen and Pitkin County rules over the past two years, and make a by by ripping off unsuspecting tourists and visitors. If you're going to buy or rent skis in Aspen, this is the only place you should look. Tom, the owner, and his staff are knowledgeable and honest. Other places always tried to upsell me on equipment and clothing. Not so here. If Tom, a former US national team skier, thinks you don't need some super expensive item, he'll let you know. His wife started their own clothing line as well, with materials sourced from all over the world -- they're beautiful and incredibly high quality. I've been coming here for over ten years. As long as I ski in Aspen, I'll only ever buy or rent equipment from Tom...after getting his input and advice, of course! read more

I live in the Aspen area. I purchased an expensive pair of ski pants from Performance. I skied in them four days total. At the end of the fourth day, I took a minor fall. The pants split completely open across the upper leg. There is clearly a problem with the construction of the pants. When I returned to Performance, I was told by the owner that I should duct tape the pants back together. She said that there was nothing she could do for me. She then offered to have her husband duct tape the pants back together. So, if you think that standing behind your product means offering free duct tape, this is the shop for you. If not, then I would suggest you visit one of the other many fine ski shops in Aspen that actually stand behind the products they sell. I know that I will not be visiting this store again. read more

I've been meaning to leave this review as I actually had the misfortune of witnessing what happened to Tom M (see review below). As a recent local I am embarrassed that these people were treated this way by a store owner in my town. I was headed to a yoga class with my friend and saw the blonde woman (who is apparently the owner's wife) run out from inside the store and start yelling at a group of people. My friend and I stood in shock as she was saying horrible and nasty things to them. I even heard her drop the F bomb! These people looked mortified and terrified as they crossed the street and we asked if they were ok. They explained what happened. They didn't seem like the type of people that would intentionally damage merchandise and they probably didn't realize that that was a high-end (overpriced) store. They didn't deserve to be treated like that and based on other reviews it looks like this behavior is not uncommon. I will always want to support local businesses, but not at the expense of human kindness and decency. If you have the money to shop at Performance, please shop elsewhere...anywhere else! read more

Best ski shop in Aspen by far. Have been coming here for a couple decades and bought multiple pairs of skis and boots. Haven't spent much time on the clothing side of things here, although they are well known for that (and if you are fashionable or want to be, you should go here) but Tom knows skiing better (and is a better skier) than anyone else in a ski shop in town. He is honest and carries some of the best equipment. The staff is all good too. If you suck at skiing, you would be getting quality equipment that might make you ski better. If you don't suck, then you should be observant enough to recognized that the brands Performance carries are what you see good skiers ripping it up on (and in Aspen, who wants to stand out and look like s***). For those who rent, crazy close to the gondola and any town Apres spot. Don't go anywhere else to buy or rent equipment. read more

My husband and I walked in and a female salesperson looked right at me and walked right past me...us. It was unbelievable. Buyer Beware!! You should shop at any of the stores in Aspen, except Performance Sports! I bought an expensive pair of Stockli skis from Performance Sports. After 8 days of incredible skiing on new powder, the top of one of the skis started to delaminate. I brought the skis back to Performance to find out what was the problem and before I had a chance to say anything, Tom (the owner) immediately accused me of abusing the skis by pounding them on the ground. I explained to him that with all of the new soft snow I could not have pounded the skis into hard ground. I told him that there was so much snow I could ski to my car. He then proceeded to call me a liar. He said that I should call the Stockli rep. However, before I reached the Stockli rep, Tom called the Stockli rep said that I had abused the skis. After several months of dealing with Stockli, Stockli did the right thing and replaced the skis. I want to give them credit for standing behind their product. However, Tom and Performance Sports could not have handled the matter any worse. Rather than say "I'll send it to the manufacturer and see what they say", he accused me of abusing the skis and being a liar. Performance charges top dollar for their skis and clothing, but all they are interested in is the sale. Once you are out the door they do not want to hear from you. They do not stand behind their products. Customer service does not exist. If you buy from them beware that you are on your own if something happens. There are a lot of great stores in Aspen, Performance Sports is not one of them. read more

I love this store because the clothes are great IF you are going super high end and chic. The staff is quirky and cool and as for the owners, Lee is a master stylist, Tom is adorable and knows all about skis as a former downhill racer. That being said it is NOT for everyone. If you are touchy about having people bow to you or want department store style service, this is not the place. Also note the new address is in fact 614 E.
