Our first visit - we dropped in for lunch. Salsa is good and the food is not too salty - a problem we have been running into lately. Dyann had a mushroom quesadilla and I had taquitos. The quesadilla was tasty but appeared to have canned mushrooms. My taquitos were fresh and tasty. The beans and rice were nothing to write home about but did seem freshly made. I did think the pico de gallo was some of the best I have had - very fresh. The guacamole was very good as well. The fourth star is because of the fresh quality of the food. I grew up in NEW Mexico so getting good mexican is a fun adventure. We were over at a nearby nursery buying plants. Stopped in for lunch. No one was there but the family. We ate from the lunch special and boy was it good. I've not had this good of Mexican in a long time. Planning on bring my folks over when they visit. My only disappointment was the sopapillas. Excelente!! The entire staff seems to be motivated to serve, which is refreshing as opposed to the norm in most places. The food was fresh and served promptly in healthy portions. Our server Rita was top notch and we will be asking for her moving forward as she had great attention to detail and attitude we loved! The Spanish food scene is quite competitive and my family of 6 has a hard time wherever we go due to my crazy kids. Really a perfect Sunday lunch experience. We even stayed for desert which is very rare for us because whenever food takes too long to arrive, the natives are so restless that when they are finished it's nearly at a boiling point before naps. You're not going to want to miss out on trying the food at Perico's. It's amazing! The chile relleños and quesadilla de chorizo were so delicious, we bought a second order of the same to take back to the hotel. Wow. I'm visiting family in the Lakeland/Arlington area and casting about for some Mexican food. There are several in the area, but a couple of people told me to go to Pericos and am I glad they did! This is some of the best Mexican food I've had anywhere, including California and Texas. I started off with the guacamole, which without question is the best in the Memphis area and most anyplace else too. it's a little chunky and not overly blended and perfectly spiced. I've been there twice now and tried the tacos Mexicano and the fajitas mixto with steak and chorizo. Wow! The taco's are the real deal and the equal of anything in the US of Mexico and they're served correctly too, unlike most places. My only nitpick is that they aren't double wrapped in tortillas like they would be in Mexico. i don't normally eat fajitas because it's a pedestrian American dish, but they aren't here. I saw someone else eating them and they looked awesome so I took a shot. Man am I glad I did! I don't like chicken so I thought I'd try a mix of steak and chorizo and it was dead nuts perfect. It may have even been house made chorizo it was so good. So, get over you prejudices like I did and give it a try. To some up, go there, you won't be disappointed! read more

We were regulars there until recently. I became so sick with sharp stomach pains and diarrhea that I ended up going to a clinic. They told me I had bacterial gastroenteritis. This is caused by poor hygiene from food handler (ie...not washing their hands after the visit the restroom and then preparing your food) or contaminated food caused by various bacteria (food poisoning)or contaminated surfaces that are not cleaned frequently . If I am not better in five days, I should return to the hospital. This has happened to me twice now after eating at Pericos!! I will never return!! read more

We went there with our 4 kids and my parents after a baseball game the other night. I had never been here but I figured I would give it a shot. I was so happy we did!!! The food was not greasy and the margaritas were yummy. I always get the veggie fajitas anytime we go to a Mexican restaurant b/c I am a vegetarian and I hate it when they burn the veggies and then serve with in a plate of grease. We just visited Pericos with a BOGO coupon from the Best Book in Town coupon book for Memphis. When we showed it to the waitress, whom I assume is also the owner, she told me it was not valid and refused to take it. This coupon looked like all the other coupons in this book which have accepted by other business owners. In fact I don't think I have ever had someone outright reject a coupon like this, and it mind-boggles me how she treats the customers. In fact, this is the second time this has happened there. Even if the coupon was a mistake, a good owner would strive to please the customer and accept the coupon anyway or offer some kind of compromise. After all we took the trouble to visit her business. But she does not seem to understand the big picture of securing repeat customers. I was so frustrated that we walked out and will avoid it in the future. Sure, she saved a few bucks today but lost hundreds on future business. This owner is just looking to save a buck, consequently offering disrespect and poor customer service. Too bad because the food is good. The lady just needs some customer skills. We will not be going back. read more

We were very disappointed! After being turned away 2 months earlier because they closed in an hour we were going to give it another chance. We went on a Friday evening, they were not too busy but restaurant was almost full. We were greeted right away, and ordered drinks and cheese dip. We got our drinks and dips and ordered our food, that's the last we were spoken to. We sat with empty drinks and no chips for 45 minutes waiting on our food. Finally I ask a girl and she said she would check on it and get us more drinks(never happened). Our waiter would walk out of the kitchen and look at us and when we would try to get their attention they would look the other way. Finally I went to the register and paid the $7.36 for a coke, water, and small dip. I will never go back!! read more
