Bought the car (cpo 328xi) over a year ago. Great sales experience with Sean. Concern about service being poor (angry yelpers out there), only to have two consecutive seamless experiences. Technician explained nature of lock issue, and he replaced components that were the proximate cause of the issue. Even vacuumed (a word?) inside. I purchased a 2013 328i X-Drive Sport CPO in January of 2016. I'm from Wisconsin, and went through a 3 month search in the local area for a car. No one wanted to deal on prices, and it seems like Concours and International Autos have a monopoly on the pricing around here. Tired of this, I expanded my search down to Chicago. I checked out some of the reviews on Yelp, and honestly thought I'd never buy a car from Perillo. I dreaded setting foot in the place, but there were two CPO 328i Sports that I found on their website that I was really interested in. I started the day at 8 AM going to three dealers besides Perillo, and ended up not having any luck with any of them after hours of test driving and negotiations. Finally, 6 PM hit and I wasn't leaving Chicago without a car. I made the journey to Perillo. Upon arrival, I went to the front desk, told them what I was there for, and was introduced to Mr. Frank Billman. Frank was very helpful, and immediately pulled up the two 328's I was interested in online. He called to have one of them delivered for a test drive, and offered to call for the second one as well. I decided to only call for the second one if I didn't like the first. Tip: There are cars on satellite lots, so it may take as long as 20-30 minutes for them to be delivered; especially due to traffic. As long as you're patient, it's worth the wait! While we waited for the car, Frank was very personable and even talked about some of the negative Yelp reviews. Perillo does a gigantic amount of business for the entire Midwest. The waiting times for service might be longer than a typical dealer because of this. The car was delivered, and my brother, father and I went on the best test drive we have ever been on. Frank gave us directions to drive through the city, onto the expressway, and to the lakefront. He even directed us to this amazing spot where we got to see the whole Chicago skyline at night. The whole ride, he was very knowledgeable and hilarious! His sense of humor was exactly like ours, which made everything that much better after a day of stressful car negotiations. We eventually got back to the dealer, put in three offers, and got a deal done! Actually, we were on our way out the door when we put in the third offer. Just as Frank came back to tell us we got the car, someone else was leaving with the car to take it on a test drive. I ran as fast as I could outside and stopped them before they took off into the street, lol. It was very unique! I got a car with $2,000 more features than another Sport I test drove in Milwaukee for $2,000 less than one I was quoted for at Concours (their car was sitting for 60+ days as well)! And I didn't get the "I'm losing money at that price" speech.....which yes, I did get in Milwaukee. That's the beauty of dealing with Perillo, because they are a high volume dealer, and actually want to move cars rather than keep them. Since it was the end of the night and the final paperwork was being signed, the finance person had to stay later (I wish I remembered his name, but he was great!). Despite it being 9 PM, there were no gripes about being there after hours, and he made sure that I felt comfortable signing paper work without rushing me. Interestingly enough, I also had to deal with their service department a couple weeks later. Honestly, I was dreading this too because of the Yelp reviews, and how it was mostly the service reviews that were poor. There were some minor cosmetic issues with the car that we worked out to be fixed with the sale of the car. I called Frank, and he took care of setting up my entire appointment, and said I would be taken care of start to end. This guy was on top of things! I'd leave him a voicemail, and he'd call back within 5 minutes. The same thing was with emails, which took a load off my mind. He even had originally arranged to have a driver come and pick up my car, and drop it off. I declined only because both times, I was taking family and friends through downtown Chicago as a day-trip. Zoom forward to two weeks later: We arrive in the service bay, and Danette Surges was a pleasure to deal with, as well as Aaron Brown. I was set up with a rental car, and the office girl did a great job of explaining the paperwork to go along with it. Frank also visited with my father and I for a while, and took us around the stock to look for fun. My car was ready later that week, and it was all washed and clean. The staff were all smiling when my girlfriend started freaking out over seeing the car in person for the first time, lol. I honestly can't say enough good about Perillo! They are the total opposite of what I've seen represented in these comments. I can say this at both a sales level, and service level. I have already recommended family and friends to them. I have been considering buying an electric car, and went into Perillo to arrange a test drive with my 10 year old nephew, who knows more about BMWs than I ever did or will. As I live in California, I told the salespeople I was hoping to test drive the i3 with him here in Chicago because he loves these cars, even though I would have to make a final purchase in California. The Perillo folks couldn't have been nicer or more polite about taking time with a potential BMW customer with whom there would be no sale at their dealership! We were taken on the road test with Sanjay Mistry, Zen Master of the BMW electrics, and honestly by the end of the drive I was wishing my solar panels and I lived in Chicago so I could buy the car! It was such a blast to drive, great pickup, accurate steering with a great feel for the road, spacious and very luxurious. Our minds were completely blown when Sanjay showed me how to get the car to parallel park itself. Sanjay was personable and straightforward, and I liked everything about his approach, enthusiasm and knowledge about the car, mechanics and warranties. THE WORST!!! Not only is the service bad, but this is absolutely the most expensive place to get your bmw serviced. I brought mine in because I thought my starter needed to be replaced or there was an electrical problem. Turned out it needed a new battery. Of course they wanted to sell me a battery, for 538 bucks. Yes, 538 dollars. They also found a bunch of small things wrong with the car i.e realign tires etc. All these small things added up to 2 grand. I decided to buy a bosh battery and have another bmw service do it. Costed 115 dollars. Only suckers go here. SUCKERS!!! read more

If I have over 10,000 miles left before I need an oil change, why is the service tech trying to tell me one is due every year? I am contributing my very first Yelp review to Perillo BMW because they made my first time car purchasing experience way less stressful. Having had an awful encounter with Infiniti dealership in Clarendon Hills, I decided to give BMW a shot since who has never dreamed at least a tiny bit about owning a bimmer? After doing a lot of research, I still felt nervous walking into Perillo on a Saturday. A gentleman with glasses greeted me at the door and he turned out to be Mr. Frank Billman. I want to give Frank a round of applause for his awesomenese! He is calm, patient, informative and extremely honest. I laid my eyes on a certified pre-owned X3 (higher mileage than target) and was torn between pulling the trigger or not. Surprisingly, Frank suggested me to wait for more inventory and he was right! A week later, a more ideal car popped up on their website. Frank contacted me immediately for a test drive and I ended up buying the car with a very reasonable price. I have been loving it since. Wow, I see a lot of emotionally-charged reviews here that are on the negative side, but my experience is a complete 180 from those. First things first: I really don't like working with car dealerships. I mean it. I'd much rather build my car online, click "pay," and have the car show up at my doorstep. It'd be a Gen Yer's dream. I can also do my homework. So when I decide it's time to get a new car, I have pretty much armed myself with knowledge about the vehicle(s) I'm considering; the dealership merely allows me to see it in the flesh and drive it to make sure it's something I'd want to use every day. Kind of like going to Best Buy to try out some electronics product knowing full well you'll be returning it and ordering from the cheapest online retailer. At Perillo, Ken R took an instant (and accurate) read of me and knew better than to start touting the salesman speech. (The salesman speech is when car dealers start to trash-talk other manufacturers with the hope that you wouldn't even consider the other options (i.e. Audi and Mercedes in this case). It's a really awkward behavior because they all make good to great cars. But no, Ken didn't do that at all. In fact, we talked about some of the cool things that Audi is doing relative to BMW. He could tell I was a resourceful Google user, so there was no need to highlight the basics, and he knew I had a sense of pricing. With just a few emails back-and-forth, we had picked out the vehicle of my choice, nailed down a price, and just like that I had a new X5. I daresay it a fun experience -- and I have never said that about buying/leasing a new car. Even the finance office (which I usually call the torture chamber) was a pleasant experience, devoid of the many add-on offers ($1,000++ clear coats, $500++ lease protection, etc.) that one typically encounters while signing documentation. So this is all great, but let's get real for a minute: price. Even if they were the nicest people on the planet, at the end of the day, a BMW is really just a commodity. Well, I'm happy to report that my initial offer from Perillo was at least $2,500 lower than what other dealerships in the Chicago burbs (and that weird one somewhere on the Indiana border) offered. Many of you know when you get a new car, usually the last thing the dealership tells you is to give them "all 10s" on the survey. I'm a bell curve grader, and just because the dealership was nice and sold me a car doesn't mean I had an "exceptional" experience, so I don't feel it's right to give a "10" when it was an "8" and eight isn't by any means terrible. I can honestly say Perillo earned all 10s because they did things that were above and beyond the norm. Lastly, what brought me to the Perillo sales department was their awesome service department. I've been working with Brad I for some years now, and he is the jam. I shoot him an email and he gets back right away with either advice or times I can bring in my car (and it's usually that day or the next). He's pulled his best techs to fix some challenging problems on previous vehicles. I've yet to get a "vehicle operates as normal" in response to a problem I've reported -- he goes the extra mile to solve the problem. So that's it guys. I know this doesn't match up with all the haters' experiences. Perillo is a collection of people and we all know people make mistakes, but my interactions have always been positive, and I think you should do yourself a favor and give them a try. read more

After my house is burglarized and you have to get a new key set made/updated for a bmw. Can't set appointments and they won't give out loaners!! Perillo tried to charge me $150 for a diagnostic test to verify that my faulty airbag was covered under warranty. The airbag light went on, I received a letter in May 2018 that BMW was extending the limited warranty for the "Front passenger seat occupancy mat (OC3) for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS/Air bag system), and when I called to get it repaired, the service receptionist insisted I needed to have the diagnostic test and I would be charged if not related to the air bag issue. It is the airbag, but I refuse to be nickle-and-dimed (cheated) for a safety issue. It's a 2004 5-Series BMW, and Perillo only cared about cashing in $150 instead of realizing they just lost a sale, as I was in the market for an X3. Perillo did not make me feel like a valued client, rather like a fool. That's my honest opinion. read more

I approached her and informed her I was there to purchase a vehicle but needed help finding the right fit. She was instantly rude. It has been awhile since I've been treated this way in any realm of customer service. I would honestly suggest that none of you use Vanessa as your saleswoman. Moving forward. I told her that I was fine and would find another salesman/woman. I was redirected to Alejandra. Alejandra was every bit of amazing, informative, and extremely helpful. She ultimately sold me my very first BMW. I am glad I stayed and did not walk out after my encounter with Vanessa. I HIGHLY suggest you all use Alejandra. She made my car buying experience just that, an experience. Saleem was also very nice and helpful, his approach was extremely personable. Lastly, the finance manager Alex was down to earth and made me feel appreciated for bringing my business to Perillo. Again. They are the worst. But also the most convenient. Thus, I went there recently cause I got a nail on my tire. Not a big deal, I thought It might just take an hour to fix it. But, I'm wrong. They checked it, and told me, it's really bad, it's nailed in a critical spot, can't be repaired. I have to replace it, and will cost me $330. Okay, so I just left, and spent 20 minutes, drove to an auto service store, which has really good review score, and, boooom, 10 minutes later, they fixed it, what a miracle, yea, and it's free. read more

I see that this service center has a ton of negative Yelps but I truly had a great experience with them. My service coordinator (Danette) was very friendly, attentive, and responsive. Most importantly the service mechanics did a really good job on my car. They were able to find and replace a faulty cable that both BMW of Orland and Westmont were not able to find. The only bad thing that I can say about this service center is that it is extremely difficult to get a loaner vehicle. I'm talking like a 2 week waiting period (do better guys). I have a 2004 BMW 330 XI, and last summer it came out of warranty. While my car was under warranty, there is not much I can complain about. The problem I have with them came towards the end of the warranty, in April 2008. Then I complained about two things: (1) the car wheel was pulling strongly to the left; and (2) the windshield washer pump was losing fluid very fast (so I had to buy new fluid every 2-3 weeks). They returned my car saying that they didn't notice any problem. (If there was a problem, the warranty probably would have paid for it.) But they said that for an additional $100 I could have an optional calibration done. Bottom line: after that my car still pulled strongly to the left, and the windshield washer pump still was losing fluid fast. Now, after my car came out of warranty, and I pointed out again the same problems to Perillo BMW, they finally fixed both of them (they said that a tire had to be replaced because now the car would pull to the right). This, plus replacing a CV boot (which might have also been damaged while my car was under warranty), cost me $1200. Pretty steep, isn't it? Despite my clear impression that Perillo BMW was dishonest, I'm going to give it 2 stars instead of 1 only because they did fix the problems in the end. read more

I live in a building adjacent to the dealership and I have an up close and personal view of the top parking lot where a lot of cars are kept for servicing. I'm a web developer and work from home so I get to view the carelessness of the employees all day long. On multiple occasions I have witnessed the employees back vehicles into one another, slam car doors against the sides of other cars, and literally fight each other against customer cars. While I personally cannot state how the service is once the cars leave the dealership I can state with complete confidence that the employees here do not treat customer vehicles with the respect they deserve. Be sure to check for dents, scrapes or other odd looking marks when picking up your vehicle because there is a fair chance that one or more of the employees has abused your expensive car. read more

The salesman apparently thought since I was African American that I couldn't afford a BMW. WHY? I am a surgeon at Lurie Children's Hospital. Is it just because I didn't come dressed up? I came after work! During this pandemic I would imagine that a BMW dealership would have better manners. Despite all the bad reviews I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt but boy was I a fool for bothering. I had a TPM sensor that kept going on telling me my tire is low. So I would fill up the tire and reset it but still no go. So scheduled an appointment and took it in to Perillo BMW to check that and also see if they can fix my radio buttons since it is stuck and the wheels is cracked. At first upon arrival, I drove in and stood outside my car for a few minutes with no acknowledgement from anyone. I approached one of the service tech and he said he'll be right with me. Then another service tech came and talked to me. Said he would let me know what's going on with my car and that I can wait in the lobby. About two and a half hours later, the service tech Brad came back to tell me that they found nothing wrong with the tire and reset my TPM sensor. They told me there's nothing they can do about the radio button since it seemed that some liquid was spilled on it. But they said they ordered a part for my wheel and when it comes in they will call me. As soon as I left Perillo BMW, the TPM sensor came on again. I wait it out for about a week for Perillo BMW to call me about my part and take it in all at once. Since I did not get a call from them like they promised, I called to schedule another appointment. I bring it in again and was told it will be all fixed by the afternoon and they would call me. About 4 hours later, I didn't get an update or a call so I called them. The service tech now tells me that they don't know whats wrong with the sensor and that the tire is fine, the part they ordered was the wrong part so they have to re-order the part and would call me when it gets there. I got my car back and on the drive home, the TPM sensor came on again. I haven't gotten a call yet from them about the "re-ordered" part and I have waisted two work days for nothing, absolutely nothing. I took a venture out to Patrick BMW which is located in Schaumburg and was way out of my way but guess what, they fixed my issue. I had a puncture in my tire which caused it to lose air. They also found out that I had three bad fuel injectors and three bad spark plugs. Oh, and they replaced my center console including my radio buttons because it was faulty. They saved me from what could be a dangerous situation and provided a wonderful experience. It was all done right the first time and they know how to treat a customer. I just don't understand why Perillo BMW are still in business for doing half ass jobs on our expensive vehicles! read more

We recently had some minor body work done through Perillo. They did a great job at under-delivering. Completion dates were continually (3 times) promised then came and went. At one point they even told us that the car was ready and that we could pick up the car, only to get a call the next morning that it would be a couple more days on account of paint leaking into the interior of the car. We were without a car for 3 weeks, and were not offered a loaner for what should have been a simple job. If you're getting anything mechanical done to your BMW take it to Bavarian Motors in the West Loop. They're former BMW Techs and will do the same job at a dramatically lower price and communicate with greater transparency. I would have expected better things from a BMW service center. Perillo did a great job at cheapening the BMW brand. Congrats, guys. read more

UPDATE !! 10 months after purchase So I just realized that they left a message that they are going to call me ^^ Nobody called me ... in fact I called them so many times around September 2014 and basically they took no responsibility plus they were so rude. To be honest when I was signing the contract, I asked the lady why there is not even 30 days guarantee what if something goes wrong ? She said if tomorrow the engine blows, we have nothing to do with it !!! and I was naive enough to trust them and sign the contract. this place is a total ripoff worse than craigslist... Not even after 3 months, I realized the roof-top have problems + the O2 sensors was broken because of the mods that NOBODY TOLD ME WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR. I even have a copy of their full check-up and nothing is written about these modifications: - low springs: I've been through lots of trouble to change it to stock springs ... - Aftermarket exhaust system - Front Mount Intercooler - intake kit Guess what, it costs more than $6000 to change all these parts to stock. I spent so much time and money to fix the O2 sensors (I had the engine light on 1 month after I bought the car) and the suspension. I HOPE nothing else happens ... If I just have time, I would sue this company. Perrilo have a bad reputation within BMW community just go to bimmers forums and ask people which I wish I would have done ... When I was trying to sell my old M3 nobody even wanted to go to Perillo for check-up!!! ... I have been told from another BMW shop in Chicago that the representatives are being told to keep customers away from management ... no surprise !! Not many people like buying cars. What makes the experience is the sales person you deal with while going through the process. I have now purchased two cars from Ken Reffin at Perillo BMW and will buy my 3rd from him if he is still there. First of all he knows that consumers do their homework and he will pull up prices on his computer screen from the same websites that we all use for research and he will beat that price. So it takes that often negative aspect out of the picture and he can then focus on what you want or need. He will then challenge you on options to see if you really need them rather than trying to talk you into a higher priced car to get a bigger commission check. He is a no BS and straight forward guy which I appreciate. Their finance department has this same candor and honesty. I have spoken to coworkers that have bought BMWs in the suburbs and they were flat out lied to in order to get them to spend more money. Ken and the service team have also did a lot of work on my behalf to help with an insurance claim that I had in which my car was totaled (see my Geico review from last year) which was above and beyond. read more

Literally the worst car buying experience I have ever had. Bought a pre-owned car, had a lemon squad report done. Car was transported to NM and had a $1300 dent in the side of it when it arrived. Management refused to respond to numerous emails and phone calls finally telling me they would not participate in restitution. I scheduled my car online for a recall repair and asked for a call back. I ended up having to call them and cancel as in a whole business day they could not get back to me to tell me whether or not they had the part in stock. I couldn't talk long (I was busy at work) so I asked them to email me and when they did they advised me that it would be $167 to bring my car in for diagnostics.... I don't believe I should pay to have a recall repair completed on my car. Welcome to Chicago :( read more

The service repair center here is incredible and very well run. Everyone there is friendly and ready to help you out. One of the few issues here is that they have a lot of cars coming in and out so the wait times for repairs will usually take a long time...but then again you can expect that at any repair center. It is worth mentioning that no car dealer will ever get a 5 star average-many feel uncomfortable going to any dealer because they assume they are being taken advantage of. This was not the case for me. I met Sean Dwyer via phone. After a few exchanges, I came to the dealer to finalize our deal. Sean was very courteous and was familiar with the BMW product line and features. The entire process went well. I hate waiting at a dealer and Perillo clearly recognizes that most of their clients feel that way. They were fast yet thorough. After the sale, I expected to take the keys and go but Sean wanted to take me to the car to show me some features. I'm glad he did. The XM service had a glitch (XM, not BMW) and Sean amused me as he talked his way up the ladder at XM to resolve this issue. As a side note, their coffee machine is great. Coffee, mochas, etc. It's not the typical barbershop coffee you find at most dealers. I would definitely recommend Perillo and Sean Dwyer for the purchase of your BMW. read more

We moved to Chicago in the summer of 2016 and shortly after, leased our X5 from Perillo. We lived in the city for the first year and didn't have any problems. In the summer of 2017, we moved to the suburbs and had our first real experience driving our X5 in the Chicago winter as we didn't really take the car out much while in the city. The car was/is awful and incredibly dangerous in the snow; I found myself skidding across lanes and incapable of maintaining traction whenever there was snow on the ground. With 2 babies in the car this made me incredibly nervous and uncomfortable so I brought the car to our local BMW dealership. Straight away they acknowledged our X5 had summer tires which was why the car couldn't cope driving in the snow. I inquired as to how I should go about getting winter or all-weather tires. The options presented to me ranged from $2k - $3k all in. I was FURIOUS. We're paying an awful lot of money for a car that can't be driven 3 -4 months out of the year. We were never told our tires were summer tires and I can't for the life of me understand why any car dealership in Chicago would sell/lease a car with summer tires. The local dealership was sympathetic but told me I had to work with our leasing dealership. I reached out to our salesman, Mahmoud Parsa, who responded straight away only to say they couldn't give us winter tires but instead could offer a discount. Of course this wasn't good enough as we believe the appropriate tires should have been put on the car in the first place. I then reached out to the sales manager, Mark Schneider, who responded once with the same offer of a discount. After responding to Mark's email (TWICE) inquiring as to what kind of discount he'd be offering I never heard back. Seems to us they unloaded this car with inadequate tires onto us knowing we weren't tire-savvy enough to realize what they call 20' tires aren't good in the snow. We're floored that this is even legal and are completely angered by the lack of interest to remedy the situation. We're paying way too much for this type of service and will not be looking to purchase or lease another BMW in the future. read more

Been coming here for 3 years now. Just leased my second car with them. I found someone I vibed with and have had a completely smooth experience since day 1. From leasing to servicing, I've had no issues. I've always received my car back promptly and if they knew it was going to take longer than expected, they offered a service car, on the house. Wow, Surprised to see all of the bad reviews. I have an old 96 3 Series that they have been keeping in shape for me. I've taken my car here for oil changes and performance checks. Again, I've not had any problems with the service. They return phone calls, answer my questions and get my car back to me in a prompt manner always shiny from a new wash. Brad in the service department has been a pleasure to work with. They've even paid for my cab fare. read more

Highly recommend Peter Mers! His product knowledge of the vehicles is impressive, but he doesn't pressure you to purchase. Peter is honest, respectful, and a straight shooter (did I mention awesome with toddlers?). He listened to our wants and needs in a vehicle, presented options for us, and thoroughly explained everything. Peter went the extra mile for us, and we couldn't be more thankful. This 5 star review is for Perillo BMW service, only. Vanessa in the sales department is top notch, but other than her, the sales department is less than average. I heard from the dealer that we have bought our last 4 BMWs from (and 4 from other dealers, but we serviced all of them with Perillo in the last 10 years) that Perillo service has terrible Yelp reviews. I couldn't believe it! AJ is the BEST! There is no better! And Darrin, the Service Director - COME ON! He's the best, too! And Brad is awesome! These guys go out of their way to take care of customers! I cannot believe some of these reviews. These people must be exceptionally unreasonable, because there is no better service department in Chicago, period. Another thing I can't believe are the responses from this Trish Perillo. Hilarious! If it were my dealership, I wouldn't let her anywhere near the customer service department. ;) read more

In full disclosure, my review only relates to a small service issue. We purchased our 5 series from Perillo in November and today was the first time we needed anything repaired. My husband called because our tire was continuously losing air. BMW let us know that our tires were not covered by warranty - which was a nice reminder. I went in today for the repair and requested a loaner vehicle, which my husband assured me he had checked on when he called. Apparently there was some miscommunication between my husband and BMW because there were no loaners available. Rather than just tell me to come back another day, the gentleman in service who checked me told me to wait and they would check the tire immediately. If there was a nail or something they would patch it no problem. Well I was at BMW for less than thirty minutes when a service technician informed me that we had a nail in the tire which had been removed and everything had been fixed. I was shocked and very pleased. High praise to the service department for helping me out!!! read more
