This review is for the Land Rover sales department - Prior to Land Rover, I've purchased from Lexus and Audi - both were great experiences, but Matt Bonkovich and Mark at Howard Orloff JLR went above and beyond for our experience. When we first walked into the dealership Matt immediately offered to assist us in our early stage search. He was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and made our ineraction truly enjoyable. It was a very chilly day in Chicago and he walked us around the vehicle to show us the features and offered the test drive experience. We never felt pressured to make a decision, but more so informed by a true luxary vehicle consultant. I will admit, the Velar is a pretty easy sell, but Matt made the process even more enjoyable. Once we got to finance, we worked with Mark and he was equally as impressive with his approach in explaining the process, walking through additional packages (not pushy) and addressing any questions or concerns we had. If you're a Chicago resident, consider driving up to Northfield Land Rover for a more transparent, fair, and customer oriented experience - not the typical experience that results in all the stigmas we hear about the automotive industry being shady. --- I brought a customer's Land Rover to this dealership after my shop had already performed extensive diagnostics on a nuance engine issue we couldn't fully resolve; I thoroughly explained every step we had taken, and they reassured us that our process was correct and positioned themselves as ready to take supplemental *next steps* within their $280 inspection charge. What was never made clear is that they would restart diagnostic procedures from scratch and that in doing so, would escalate the pricing into thousands of dollars. What started as a simple $280 inspection disclosure turned into escalating charges that should have been discussed prior to the appointment time. All smiles during the handoff, but once the car was in their possession, the floodgates of extra and absurd pricing came in. Hopefully didn't cause any damage to someone else's vehicle.. They want thousand dollars to replace it again. No warranty on labor. Please do yourself and favor and DO NOT buy a Range Rover. I bought a brand new Velar and will definitely be my first and last Range Rover. I have had 3 used cars and this brand new $98k vehicle has had more problems than all my previous used cars combined. Literally. Multiple times this vehicle would not start due to electrical / software issues. Yes you heard it. A brand new $98k car won't even start. I've had multiple service appointments / software updates here. Nearly 3 years later (got it brand new late 2017) it is still not fixed. Also randomly all the instrumentation / dashboard will shut off while driving. See the pic. Yes that is while the car is in motion and the entire dash is dead. No speed, fuel, turn signal. This is on a good day. Sometimes the car wouldn't even start. 3 years later and nearly 5-6 software updates promising to "fix the problem" and it is still doing it. I am now out of the 50k factory warranty. I paid $4,500 for the 100k extended warranty at the time of purchase. You'd think this would cover this problem right? NOPE! They charged me $574 for a software update to fix this problem that has been there since I got it. Also. The remote app is awful. Just as unreliable as the vehicle. Maybe even worse. Car doesn't start half the time. See attached pic. 1.5 / 5 stars with over 1,000 reviews. I'm not making this stuff up. Look up other vehicle brand apps. MUCH better consumer satisfaction. I truly do not understand how anybody who is aware of the horrible reliability of Range Rover would waste time, money and sanity on such an overpriced unreliable vehicle. Took my 2017 Evoque for an annual maintenance; under 40k Factory recommended. The service fee has substantially increased compared to previous years. (This would be my third year) They found that both brakes and rotors for the front and rear needed to be replace. The amount for labor charge was a joke! The body mechanic that H.O. used for my Jaguar screwed up some wiring and caused the wiring harnesses to melt and short circuit. This also caused a drain in my battery. Initially they claimed that they did all the work perfectly (as they always say) and I had to pay nearly 400$ out of pocket for a new battery. Auto body mechanic that Orloff used had to pay nearly 9K for additional work but H.O. still refused to reimburse for the battery although the issues are directly linked (by this time they had to replace the battery a second time due to the initial faulty wiring) Once wiring work was completed by H.O. (It took 8 weeks) I pick up my car and immediately notice that my speakers now do not work. I inform H.O. and they confirm that they also could hear there was an issue, but made me wait literally weeks to begin repairs because the Service manager was OOO. They wanted him to listen to the speakers as well (I still don't know why). When I finally got to speak with the Service Manager they told me they needed to keep the car in order to do diagnostics (someone from ABT told me this should not take more than one hour to perform). H.O. did not want to give me a loaner and elected to give me my car back more than 24 hours after I left my car with them (still undiagnosed). I reached out to another manager multiple times via email and left messages with the receptionist. I have not received any response from anyone at Orloff in 6 months. Additionally, I requested support from the Better Business Bureau and H.O. Did not respond to the BBB on two separate occasions either. On top of all of this, I received a nasty email from the service representative who was not pleased with my review of this negative experience, as it affects "how [he is] compensated", and refuses to provide any service beyond that (email attached to this review). This review does not cover the H.O. Tow truck driver breaking the tie rods on my car (leaving the car unable to drive for a period) or the incorrect mirror being replaced on my car, requiring my car to go back to the shop for two days to replace (...two days to replace a mirror). read more

We went for a test drive and knew that this was the car we wanted. However, I didn't want to get roped into negotiating until I had a chance to do some research. Tim applied zero pressure on us and simply promised to follow up. He didn't hound us with calls and emails. Simply one email telling us more about the car and the offer price. I did my research. I made a counteroffer and prepared to battle. The next day Tim responded by email and made a very reasonable counteroffer and asked me to schedule a time to come in. Were we walking into an ambush of hidden charges and upsells? Nope. The whole process took a little over an hour. The Pilot was traded in for a very reasonable amount and we left with our new car. The entire experience was stress free. I still can't believe how easy it was and how none of the usual dealer-pressure was applied. Tim and his team were great. When I got my car I realized the mirror wasn't moving with the control inside so I took it back because I knew for sure it wasn't like that before I took it in. When I talked to John Knoll he insisted that there was no way that would've happened because they didn't take the door off or whatever excuse he gave. He tried to get me to pay another $500 to get it looked at and I thought that was BS. Your guys broke it! After lots of convincing he said he would look at it. And of course I was right, he said more BS about how it was a shortened fuse. Here's a business tip for John: maybe you should listen to your clients when they say something about their car. Especially to women who already mostly feel uncomfortable at car dealers where they're used to being dismissed. Also, looking at previous reviews it doesn't seem crazy that they damaged my car when I took it in... they've done it before. Another thing that happened 3 weeks later, my coolant was under the minimum level...shouldn't that be checked when I take my car in?? I had a very mixed experience with Orloff, but came away with a mostly negative conclusion. To make a long story short, it seems that someone at Orloff drilled two holes into the body of my car to install the rear license plate (with, of course, an Orloff frame) onto the tailgate instead of using a license plate bracket attached to the holes provided by the car manufacturer (the ones with the plastic inserts). Terrible service. This is my third time taking my car into this location and the third time they've not done what they should have. Each time, I've dropped my car off, given them a list of things to be completed or looked at, and then they do 1 thing on the list and ignore the rest. After spending over $5k at your shop in the last 3 months, here's what I've experienced: your shop lost my engine cover and didn't replace it before giving my car back to me. Who "loses" a huge black 3ft long engine cover on a floor as pristine as your shop? I called within an hour of picking up my car to report that the coolant light was on again and was told that I couldn't bring my car in for another month!!! That prompted me to think that your quality controls aren't very good at all. After waiting a month to return, your shop didn't fix my coolant leak OR replace the missing cover after my car was there an entire week. Told me on two separate occasions in the last month that the engine cover had been ordered and was at the shop. I called in to check the status of my repairs and was told to come in at 3:15 and it would be ready for me, only to get there and find out the engine cover hadn't even been ordered. I was given a courtesy car and a full 2 days later you brought my car to me. Honestly it felt as if my vehicle was low priority--actually not even considered a priority at all-- and by proxy, so was I. This has been my worst experience at a dealership EVER. I received several apologies over the course of this debacle, but the chaos, poor communication and shoddy service persisted. I've had enough. Once you finally installed the engine cover over a month after it was "lost" I decided to never bring my vehicle to your shop again. I feel zero loyalty to me as a customer willing to spend thousands of my dollars at your "service" facility. No available appointments until 07/21/21. The car noise got louder and the car was towed 07/09/21 to them. Lisa, service advisor called to relate the caliper bolts were missing /gone. Thus, the caliper cut into the rim and the rim had to be replaced with a cost of 1523 that landrover was NOT going to pay because according to them someone (maybe a ghost) had worked on that car. NEEDLESS to say they were/have been the only people who have worked on my car since I bought it. I talked the Craig Urban, service manager. When I tried to explain to him David Orloff Landover Chicago is the ONLY dealer that has worked on my car, he became very defensive and called me a liar. When I called him an xxxxxxx he got offended and told me I needed to pick up my car that day because they will not service my car and that he wanted the car off off his lot that day. So, he can be disrespectful and call people names but we (customers) cant ? I talked to David Orloff, VP at David Orloff Landrover Chicago. When I started presenting information like the CARFAX that shows they've been the only dealer that has worked on my car and challenged that someone else had worked on this car, he stated to get my car off his lot that day. I guess we suppose to surrender, be submissive, and accept the lies they tell us and swallow their disrespect ? Brought my car in for maintenance service over two weeks ago and while I was there requested a body shop estimate for some minor front end damage. I was told I would be hearing from the body shop promptly. A week later after hearing nothing I followed up and after some moments of confusion about my job on HO's end, was told I would be called shortly with a quote. Still waiting a week later. On top of that while I was in the service department, several managers were sitting at their desks with masks hanging around their necks instead of on their faces. I have been a customer of Orloff for over twenty years. I've bought three cars with them. I have always had my cars serviced at the dealer. However, in the past year, their service department (s) seem to have broken down completely. My most recent interaction came when I realized I had a headlight out. I called to see if I could bring the car in to have it repaired. The very nice and competent woman who handles these calls told me that I could bring it in 10 days time and then leave the car for 5-6 days before someone could look at it. This is for a headlight. Also, she told me, they have no loaners for their customers. So, to repair a headlight, I would have to wait over a week to drop it off, then wait another week before anyone looked at my car and in that time I am on my own for transportation. I am now having my car serviced elsewhere, like so many others that I know. I hope that Orloff can turn this around, but I had a lot of issues with them earlier this year and things seem to only be getting worse. read more

I could not recommend this to my worst enemy. Their service department is terrible, their sales department is even worse, and, to make matters worse, they are misrepresenting what the governors mandate is. They are requiring clients wear masks, "in accordance with the governors mandate", however, the governors mandate, clearly, says that you are required to wear a mask if you are indoors and cannot maintain proper physical distancing. I had a service appointment, and decided I may go look at a car after my car was repaired, and, after getting a message about the mandate to wear masks, I got several messages, rather than answering my questions in sales, they were asking me to come in. So clearly they are not worried about their customers, or else they would answer the questions over the phone, or by email, not make you come in in order to talk to them in person. I purchased a car from Michael Stevens in January, 2020. I live in Minnesota and flew to Chicago to pick up the car. Michael was OK, the transaction went relatively smoothly, but Michael did very little. As we sat waiting for their product specialist to show me the car, Michael and I shared small talk. He went on to share some of his opinions about life, which were dated, to say the least. I was happy to move on. Selim Savany is the Product Specialist and he showed me the car. He was very friendly and knowledgable. He was very responsive to most follow-up emails with questions. That changed when I found a part was missing from the broken charging cable (this is a Volvo plugin hybrid). Selim responded to my first inquiry and asked me to send him some photos of the cable. I never heard back again. I later learned the cable is over $400. I should have made them include a new cable when I purchased the $50k car. My mistake. read more

Drove 7 hours to purchase a used Jaguar from this dealership. While at the dealership the service manager bragged about the 150 point inspection done on all vehicles and how clean of a vehicle we were getting. After the deal was done we got in the vehicle to leave and the odometer had 1000 more miles than what was advertised, this was our first issue. On our 7 hour drive back home the low coolant light came on. Odd for a just purchased 150 point inspected vehicle right? Had to take vehicle to local dealership due to the coolant being practically empty. Informed by service technician here that the coolant cap was broken and needed replaced. Fast forward a month the brakes are now squeaking. Tried contacting the dealership to ask why we are having issues that should have been caught in the thorough 150 point inspection with no response from anyone even as high up as general management. The salesman couldn't be bothered to give us a test drive. We bought our car at Imperial Motors instead. Then we have a problem with the wheel a year later. We go in for service for the new tire. We were told the car would be ready shortly. Hours later after no one updated us on anything we were told the car would be right out. Twenty minutes goes by. We ask where is the car. If 0 star is an option, I would pick 0. I came here yesterday because I got a flat tire this past weekend and this is the closest dealership from the city. I got a quote from my service person Kate for a price of $300 - I am thinking, ok this is pricey, but I am lazy and this would probably save me so much time and trouble, I am willing to pay this price for my "awesome service". Kate called me at 3:30pm and informed me everything is ready to go, my car was sent to the wash, I can come anytime but there was no rush. I got off work at 4:45 and called an Uber during rush hour to get my car back. I didn't use the shuttle service because I want to get my car back as soon as possible. When the car guy pulled my car around, my spare tire was still on. The tire I bought for $300 is nowhere to be found. I went to Kate and told her it was not on. She said oh so sorry, so and so forgot to do it, it will be ready in 15min. I was already a little frustrated because she told me it was ready at 3:30pm. I waited for another 40min. Kate found me in the waiting room and told me it will be ready anytime now, and that I can go wait outside if I like. I waited outside for another 15 min, a guy came over and asked for my receipt. I was confused but I still showed it to him. I waited for another 20 min, the SAME GUY came back and asked for my receipt AGAIN! I showed him again and asked him if he is trying to locate my car. He said yes, and he said OH, I know where to find it and left. I waited for ANOTHER 30 MIN... I was FURIOUS at the time. it was already passed 6:30pm at the time. My service person Kate has already went home, and yet, my car was nowhere to be found ! I stood in the front for a while, my second service guy came over and apologized and said the guy who got my car was new blah blah... My tire alert light was still on, so he took my car for a drive, because sometimes it took a while for the light to go off.... so here we go.... I was waiting and waiting.... finally, thank goodness, the guy pulled my car over. He seemed pissed off at me and just left without saying a word. I was about to head home when I found out my spare tire, tools and my trunk mat were not even put in correctly. The second service guy came over and helped me put it back. Needless to say, I will never come back here EVER AGAIN. This is the worst service I have ever received ever in my life. There was no communication between the staff, my service person left before my car was ready, there was no attention to detail, and even after this horrible service, I was not contacted by any of the staff to offer any apologies. I am writing this review about Alicia Houston. I had been shopping for a car for a few months and every dealer/salesperson seemed to be the same. Not so with Alicia. She is a great listener, puts the customer's interests first, and makes the experience of buying a car a PLEASURE. I was impressed with the way she carried herself and never made me feel like I was being led in a direction I wasn't comfortable with. She is easy going, but when you need something done you can rely on her and she gets it done on time. She even went out of her way to pick up my car an hour away to have it at the dealership for me when she promised. She keeps her word and someone I will definitely be referring everyone I know to. Trust me....if you are disillusioned with the car-buying process PLEASE go see Alicia. She is the solution to all your problems! read more

If I could give Orloff Zero stars, I would. I have had nothing but ridiculously bad experiences. If you own a Land or Range Rover in Chicago, get online and find an independent mechanic who isn't looking to rob you (I did). It is all smoke and mirrors there, no substance. They managed to unset my windows and then charge me $65 to reset them on my last visit. Ridiculously small stuff that they feel is necessary to make their quotas. I was given an estimate for 6K worth of work on my 1998 Range Rover. I found a Range Rover mechanic in the NW Suburbs who had me fax the detailed estimate and then called me immediately laughing at what I was being charged for. $331 for a new battery (battery is fine), $912 for a new O2 Sensor that is not even shorted out (he is charging me $221), $256 to put the glass on the passenger side mirror ($87 with no labor charge) and the list goes on (not to mention charging for an air filter 3 times). If you are thinking that you have to take your car there b/c it's convenient, think again. I had to take a cab and the Metra and it was an inconvenience but I am saving 3K and know I am being treated fairly and with respect. read more
