My delivery location (Orland Park) was completely unreachable so I contacted the Grand location to get help regarding the titling paperwork for my model Y. Turns out that the paperwork that was submitted was returned to them 05/23/2023 and nothing was done until I kept pushing to find out what is going on. Now my temp plate is expired and they have been giving me the run around and no one wants to return my calls. The car is great! But now I can't drive it until my titling paperwork gets processed. Issue has to do with customer service after an incorrect price quote led to a deposit that they refuse to refund. This rating is purely due to the customer service in one situation. I owned my first Tesla since 2019. I just sold it and bought a model Y through this location which was a great experience. However, a week later I convinced my parents to get one, but they didn't need an AWD version so I called to see if they could get their hands on any remaining RWD Model Ys. Initially I was told they didn't have any and then received a phone call 2 mins later telling me they actually found one but I had to act quickly. I said I was happy to and dropped what I had to do in the middle of the day to start the process. He sent me an email at 11:18a with the subject line " Tesla Model Y Standard Range financials". This had the pricing estimate with a final cost after taxes and fees of $45,210. I said that's great and I'd like to proceed. He told me that since the car was not in the inventory I would need to place an order for a AWD LR model Y online and he would switch it in the background. I did so and paid the $100 deposit. Thereafter I also provided copies of the drivers licenses for registration and then proceeded to go to the financing piece through the portal. As I looked at it, something seemed off from the original estimate. Then I looked at the details and the price was off by $4500 with a total price of $49,710. Until I asked about this he didn't mention anything. He then looked at the price and said "oh this is pulling in our current price which has increased so yeah the new price is that price of $49700." Not once was there an apology or a recognition that he was off on the price by a gross amount. At that point, it did not make sense to proceed as my parents were already stretching their budget and another $4500 was not something that made sense. Given that they misrepresented the original price I thought it would be straight forward enough to cancel the order and receive the $100 refund. Instead I have now been getting the runaround for four days where they have offered me $100 of Tesla store merchandise credit instead of the refund. 1000 supercharger miles instead of the money. However all I want is them to recognize that they messed up and issue a simple refund. We would have never placed the order had the price not been grossly misrepresented to the tune of 10% of the value of the car. I think I would have been completely in the right to argue with them to hold them to the originally represented price since they very well pulled a bait and switch. I didn't even argue on that front though. A mistake was made and we moved on and all I'm asking for is a refund. The sales rep through this David May, does nothing besides say well they will never give you a refund. He says he has spoken to the store manager twice now but then he just keeps referring back to needing to talk to him again. He has mentioned multiple times that corporate will never give a refund. However, in the entire process, he has not once apologized for making the initial mistake that caused all of this. He was also the same one that laughed at me when I called initially because of what I was asking for and then ended up calling me back 2 mins later. All of that said, all I was looking for was a straightforward refund process for a mistake made by them. They believe themselves to be flawless in which case I am now left having to dispute the charge with my credit card company in order to get my money back. A headache and wasted time all on my part after a mistake fully made by them. read more

i just picked up a tesla with my family at this tesla dealership, and that shit was WACK. i'm not gonna overshare with several stories and examples, but the service is extremely dismissive like they could not give less of a fuck about you... they see you standing around with questions and will make eye contact with you and then just walk right past you. the car had several problems and when raised to the employees who seem to not give a single fuck, they barely make eye contact with you, etc. oh and if you're waiting for one of the employees to come back to you while you're sitting in your car, don't keep waiting, but also don't call the dealership because they won't answer . instead walk out of your car and go into the dealership and stand around for a while. trust me, we did it like 5 times. if you wanna sit down, bring your own fuckin lawn chair or sum because fuck there's literally like a garage with some paint samples on the wall. and if you're looking for something pretty to look at, please go some where else. looks like elon said "wait y'all what if we turned a bomb shelter/drug warehouse/kidnapping hq into a car dealership?" because there's nowhere to sit, and the actual bricks of the building look like a motherfucker might huff and puff and blow the whole thing down. also, they'll talk about how you can get in and out in "15 minutes" but we been here a looooooong ass time fixing all these problems. read more

The future is here...Tesla electric-powered motors are truly astounding vehicles. The showroom location itself is on Grand Ave...a great hip area and the Roadster is on display for all of Chicago to experience. I had the opportunity to get a test drive in the Roadster S and it seriously accelerates 0-60 in 3.7 sec...feels like a roller coaster! It's a gorgeous sporty design that will definitely get noticed on the streets of Chicago. 2011 is when Tesla releases the Model S sedan that seats 7, starting at $50K base price. I think I'm going to get on the waiting list! The Chicago sales team, specifically Seneca Giese, is so knowledgeable and attentive....he knows the car/the technology and is just wonderful to interact with. He makes it a comfortable experience...with no 'used-car salesman' vibe...quite the opposite because in the end, the car sells itself. Definitely worth a visit...a test drive! read more

Before i start i want to point out two things: 1 - I've never cared much about driving and had no interest about cars at all until i've heard about Tesla. 2- I've got my driver's license at the age of 34 because one day i want to buy one and that's the only car I ever wanted to buy. I'm aiming for a model 3, but a sales person in LA told me to schedule a test drive regardless. The store is gorgeous, clean and organized, Frankie was my guide for the test drive. She started by pointing out the basics of the car ( I knew some of them, after all I've done my homework beforehand) and answered all my questions.She was fun to talk to and did a really good job explaining everything and putting up with my bad driving and uncontrollable giggles when we where testing the autopilot and the auto parking. At the end of the test drive there was no pressure about me buying a car or any kind of pressure at all. They sold me the experience of driving a car that will change the world as we know it and that's all! I left the store more in love with Teslas as i came in and more determined to have my model 3 in the future. The charging situation in Chicago SUCKS! They lead you to believe that there are city chargers but there is 2 at the dealership that 99.9% of the time you can't use because the dealership gets to use them first. They installed new charger down on lower Wacker that initially were extremely hard to find (since you do not have internet service under) then you have to pay to get into the private garage where they are located. Highly highly recommend that you work with Doug Chrystall, the best advisor (in the truest sense) you could ever have. It took me 6 months to make a decision on which car to purchase, yikes! I love SUVs and had my eyes on a couple in the market including the X5 PHEV. However I wanted to give Tesla a fair shot in the game because environmentally it's the right thing to do. The first time I drove it, I didn't like it at all lol. Doug urged me to take my time and come back for a re-test, including an extended test drive. We discussed all things cars for 6 months. I have texted Doug like a friend at all times of the day! And when Doug was out, all of his colleagues were available for questions, especially Brenda. Do your homework before you purchase a Tesla. I bought a P100D last year. Is it fast? Yes, but that is one of it's only redeeming qualities. The racing tires on this vehicle cost about $500 each. You can hit a pot hole wrong and hemorrhage or pop these tires very easily. I spent roughly $4,000 in one year just on tires. The gas savings over 4-5 years is about $2,000-$2,500 per year depending on how much you normally drive. Also, don't forget about winter if you live in a northern state. This means storing and owning an additional set of winter tires or full wheel set for easier swapping. Charging times on road trips takes forever. Forget about 20-30 minutes and expect to be at charging stations for closer to an hour to get close to a full charge. Also, hope when you pull up to chargers that one is available and that they work correctly. You also can't call anyone at Tesla ever. Everything works through their App, which at times is convenient but sometimes you need to ask a human a quick question. I would never purchase a Tesla again ever. Good luck everyone! read more

I got an email from a friend about test driving a Tesla so I decided to bring my friend and check it out. I've read articles/seen shows about the Tesla founder Elon Musk so I've always been intrigued by his companies (I love PayPal) and wanted to check out his electric car. -What I loved that when I received a return call from the sales advisor Mike Snow (confirming my reservation) is that he didn't pepper me with the usual high-pressure sales tactics. We had a conversation talking about various topics including the car. -Initially, my friend and I rode past the dealership because it isn't your typical car dealership with a gazillion cars, big architectural structures and a huge sign screaming the brand name. The dealership was "quietly sophisticated" being located in a block that you would have to be "in the know" to identify what is in the building. -So we see the that dealership has that laid-back vibe about it...everyone was dressed casually, no one barking over a PA system just people chatting and checking out the car,with cool music playing in the background. I noticed that in the garage that it was clean (no oil) and that the mechanics all wore rubber gloves while working on the cars. A customer walked up to my friend and said "Buy this car. It's the best investment I've ever made". He was as happy as a fat kid with free cake. -The Model S is a sexy car. It's a car that when you see it in the city, you cant really put your finger on it because at first it reminds you of a Jaguar, then a Maserati, then something else. This is a sexy car that doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME" but "I'm just going to chill while you try to figure out why you are staring at this car". What cracked me up was when Morocco and I realized that the car had two trunks so I just knew that the front trunk probably had the battery located in the corner and Mike explained that the chassis is literally the battery, the bottom of the car. -The interior of the car is so streamlined till the point that you just stare at the console since it consists of a large screen in the middle of the dash extending near the floor with 2-3 buttons on the steering wheel. The screen is BEAUTIFUL and I just stared at it playing with all the options which are too numerous to mention. Without thinking I naturally put my purse right in the middle on the floor because there is nothing but space. No stick shift, no cup holder, spare compartment, etc. Mike showed us how this car can sit seven people with the optional booster seats for kids that folds out behind the backseat. And speaking of the seats, they were very comfortable. It was the first time in a long time that I didn't have to adjust the seats to my specifications because I'm 5'9 with long legs and a butt. -Now the test drive was a trip. The car turns on pressing on the brake. It is so quiet that I had to check that it was literally on. Mike also explained about Regenerative Braking, which I advise you to Google to get more information but you waste energy when you use the brakes so you don't brake as much with this electric car because the kinetic energy is converted into electricity to charge the battery (Mike let me know if I'm wrong about this one ;) ) So you have to unlearn things that you do in a regular gas car. The stick where the windshield wiper is located is where you Park, Drive, Neutral etc..along with some other unique features -Now the drive is super smooth and quiet. The Model S is a sedan but it kicks ass! Mike told me to gun the car and it just shot down the street. Mike then said "No, really gun it". Huh? I needed to be on a deserted country road back in my home state of South Carolina but when I gunned it on a Chicago street, all of our heads hit the back of the seats like being on a high-speed rollercoaster/going warp speed on the Starship Enterprise and this is an electric car...screw a Prius! So we take it out on the highway which was fun and took a curvy off ramp where Mike said that "there is no need to slow down because the car will hug the road". Excuse me, hug the road? So I continue on the curve thinking "How long will I have to work for Tesla, after I crash this car and maim Mike and Morocco and why didn't I really read the small print on the release I signed and I want to scream but I don't want to lose it in front of these guys...." Well the car hugged the curves like syrup dripping down a stack of pancakes. The car didn't shake at all and I never put my foot on the brake and it was amazing!!! This is TMI but driving this car was orgasmic! -Another cool thing was the sales advisor Mike. He was very down the earth and he truly loves the Tesla brand. I just assumed that he was career car guy but he told us that he majored in Renewable Energy and Communications in college so that illustrated that Tesla might be an electric car company but they are unlike any car company because they are really into technology and futuristic thinking. Car is ready for delivery in 2 days, but Tim still can't figure out how to process paperwork correctly so we can complete loan.. He is too laid back and he doesn't know how to coordinate delivery.. I called Tesla Chicago four weeks ago to set up a test drive for my husband who is a mechanical engineer and a fan of their automobiles, with the hopes of a purchase within the next year. Candi answered the phone, and disconnected me when transferring the call to salesperson Mike Snow. OK....there's email. Their website states most emails are answered in about 48 hours. No reply. A week later I called again. When I mentioned I never received a response to the email, Candi said "we don't use the internet much". ?! Candi successfully transferred my call to Mr. Snow's voicemail. No call was returned. I was optimistic that a company that sells directly to the consumer would have great customer service, and I could avoid the sleazy auto dealer. These encounters have been disappointing, and I hope the Minneapolis dealer will be better! read more

Having changed my mind on some finishes was fine; I was clearly notified of when choices had to be finalized. I really love the car I purchased here and the employees' enthusiasm for and knowledge of the products was fantastic and they did not make me feel like a neophyte (even though I was). It's a great car buying experience even for the ladies who may have been second string in the buying process to partners and such. I have taken my car in for winter tires and questions there and also other Tesla locations. They have always been welcoming, friendly and highly professional wherever you go. Tesla is not ready for prime time. My husband purchased a Tesla from this dealership in March 2013. The sales associate asked how he intended to use it. He responded that he planned to drive it to and from work (short trips within Chicago) plus to our place in Northern Door County a drive of about 280 miles one way. Accordingly, he purchased the longer range Tesla S for $81,000+ which allegedly has a range of 300 miles. Not exactly. The range of the fully charged car is only 265 miles. The sales associate led him to believe that we could quickly charge the car at any of the existing charging stations en route in WI for only about 20 minutes or so to fully recharge the car. Not exactly. As we learned to our dismay this weekend en route to Door County, the charging network that is available in WI is of the slow charging variety i.e. these charging stations charge this vehicle at the rate of 16-20 MILES PER HOUR. The Tesla sales associate neglected to make the important distinction that only the Tesla supercharging stations of which there are NONE in WI charge the car quickly. (Currently there is only one Tesla supercharging station in Normal, IL not very convenient for a trip to Door County, WI). So, this past weekend we spent lots of quality time charging this vehicle in the corn fields of WI. A normally five hour trip took eight hours each way of which three hours was spent charging the car. This is a total rip off and very deceptive sales practice. When we called Tesla to complain they said that they would be installing a Tesla supercharging station in the Madison WI area in the fall of 2013. Not much help if you're headed north in WI: Madison is about 50 miles each way out of our route. Of course, the bigger problem is that the US government is installing this network of useless charging stations around the country. Who in their right mind is going to plug in to charge their electric vehicle at these stations if they have to wait an hour to recharge the car so it can go an additional 16-20 miles??? Plus, when my husband purchased the car at this dealership, the dealership neglected to give him all the paperwork that he needed in order to get a rebate from the State of Illinois. This office should have a packet of the necessary information ready to give IL purchasers when they buy the car. Lousy and deceptive customer service all the way around. read more

Tesla makes the Tesla Roadster which is an all electric sports car. It is an incredibly gorgeous, all electric with long battery life, and I understand it is faster than a Porsche. They will be coming out with the Model S sometime in 2011/2012 which will be their sedan. I understand that with federal rebates the Roadster is around 100K and the Model S will be around 50K. They are having an open house this Friday and Saturday 1/22 and 1/23 from 10-6pm. Their normal showroom hours are Monday through Saturday 10-6pm and closed Sundays. I do not own any Teslas at this point, but my husband and I and some of our friends are big fans, and I live in the area of this showroom. It is the only Tesla showroom in the midwest and just opened, so it's very cool. You always see a few Teslas in their showroom through the windows even when they are closed. My favorite Roadster color at this point is orange. read more

2 year service was nothing but stellar. They found and fixed minor rattle problems that we didn't know about. The small handle on the center console was disconnected on one side. Clearly our fault; they replaced the console. Minor alignment change. Batteries and wipers replaced etc. Car returned to residence. All of this for the standard fee. I absolutely loved my experience here. The customer service and attention I got from Felipe my sales advisor was top notch. I have been interested in the model 3 for over a year but never drove one. Felipe was patient, knowledgeable, caring, and very good at explaining everything. He really took out a lot of time to help me. The big hurdle was convincing my wife. Felipe went above and beyond cuz he even offered to come to my house with the model 3 to let my wife test drive it as she was busy with school work and our infant. I couldn't believe he actually followed through it and well you guessed it. It worked! I currently own a model 3 and it's the best car I have ever owned. I look for excuses to drive the car now because it's so much fun. I hear horror stories about Tesla on forums but on my test drive, post deciding, and delivery, they have been best car place I have ever experienced. I have just placed a deposit for my Tesla. I have been looking at them for two years and about 5 people I know have one and have NOTHING negative to say about them. The staff is very helpful and friendly, it feels more like going to buy a computer than a car. After getting cold feet at the price two years ago I dove in. We were given a car for a test drive after putting down the deposit and I was truly amazed at the performance and comfort of the car. I have done multiple calculations to try and justify the price of t his and I do believe it is a reasonable investment but will be interested at how resale of this hold up (the roadsters are doing well at this juncture) The staff have been terrific - I interacted with Andrew and Mike and have been very pleased. This is the future and Musk and company should be supported and applauded for their efforts in this regard. Charging the car at the Madison Supercharger was a great experience. I ran into a one year owner who was in from Wyoming and he has traveled coast to coast. The speed at which Tesla is installing superchargers is also reassuring. read more
