Some local bartenders told us to go to Fairfax and we stumbled on Peri's and they were having a special blue grass night. This little bar was wonderful! I just wanted to see live music on a Friday. There were two bands on the roster Wrecked Strangers and Pardon the Interruption. Both bands were wonderful! Super fun. The bartenders were professional and nice. They were really busy and still got it done. The atmosphere was really cool with an electric crowd that was courteous and friendly. Had the pleasure of having no idea what this place was about other than I saw a flyer on the wall at the coffee shop next door the day before...announcing a "Police" tribute band "Synchronicity" is set to perform the next night. I'm a hard core Police fan, needless to say...this I had to see. My review? I was absolutely blown away!!! Not only by the band...but by the bar, by the staff...the whole experience was so epic, one I'll forever remember. The venue, like a miniature concert hall... with all the trappings, right down to the vintage Marquee out front, as if taken right off the Sunset Strip...is a true diamond in the ruff... and apparently they aren't lacking for talent! The vibe was chill... not as in cold, but as in cool, warm and inviting...and the sound, equally delicious. Job well done to the band, you nailed it! .... and a shout out to the cute little lady playing accordion behind the bar along to Walking On The Moon" note for note....you crushed it! Just returned from Peri on New Year Eve to see Soul Ska and the Crooked Stuff. Absolutely great band, tickets cost $35. ($30 plus $5 handling fee) They stopped playing at 11pm, on New Years Eve. Around 11:45 another performer was coming on and the crowd totally changed. Instead of well dressed New Years party folks, enter the low class poorly dressed Perri folks. So pretty much it ended at 11pm on New Years Eve. Hard to believe. What a RIP read more

I love this bar and have seen many amazing bands here over the years. The people are always friendly and actually dance. There's tons of outdoor seating, games to play, and I always make new friends, or see old friends (and it's hands down the coolest Elvis-themed ladies room in Marin). read more

This is a great place to drink, hang, and see music. This is only one issue with this place. The band stage is right next to the entrance and narrowest point, with only about 8-10 feet between it and the bar. As a selling point to get people it, this issue makes the place look crowded and happening, but it can make for a too packed area near the band and bar. I wish they could push back the wall and take away some of the outside area so there was more room between the bar and the band, but I'm a dance/music guy. A very slow-paced bar where you can hear local musicians express musical expression and their songwriting craft. At times, this bar becomes packed while other times their are only a handful of regular Fairfax peeps frequenting this bar. This place is a local's hang out with a great neighborhood bar vibe. We came to play pool and drink but it turned out to be much more. My 85 year old Dad comes here regularly to shoot pool so we attracted some attention from some of his previous competItors. Very friendly people, so we shared a few games with them. My Dad is terrific player, as were the others. Great fun to watch. Ted was a terrific bartender, and the happy hour wings were delicious, as were the tater tots. The gin 'n tonic was generous pour too. There's also poker but we weren't that night. All in all, a fun place to hang. read more

Just stopped in here because we were lost, and my friend remembered that a co-worker got the crap beat outta him at some bar in this area... so, yeah, we had to stop in and check it out. Pretty mild-mannered bar with about 2 or 3 other patrons at 2 in the afternoon. So, we're pretty sure this isn't the spot he got stomped out. Bartender was really cool. But, the highlight for me was the shrine to Elvis in the women's restroom. My god, someone had fun putting that décor together. Now, I'm just wondering what the men's restroom looked like? Was hoping my friend would have checked it out since he's always pissing like a puppy after a few beers, but he didn't go while we were here. I'm going to imagine there had to be some kind of shrine to Marilyn Monroe in there... or maybe just some pissing targets of Hanoi Jane. Who knows. This is one of those places where you can't help but have a good time. The cover is not exorbitant, the bands range from interesting to good, the clientele is eclectic and the drinks are strong. Additionally, there are pool tables, there's an outside seating area and the bathrooms are amazingly decorated. Went here for a Giants game. It was first time I have been here in years. I was welcomed by billowing cigarette smoke inside the bar. They illegally keep the outside door open to the patio where all the smokers are and refuse to keep it closed. The bar is completely filled with second hand smoke and pretty much intolerable. ~The Bartenders are surly and the chick bartender is a straight up liar! Told the other bartender I had insulted her which NEVER happened. All I wanted was to have the door shut as the law REQUIRES. Several other customers were happy I was shutting the door and a few of them helped me keep it shut so we could all breath happily. I remember when this was a fun place to go but I will never be back. Never been treated with so much rudeness by a bartender. If this was my business they both would have been fired on the spot fro talking to a customer like they did to me. I hope the ABC comes in and revokes their license for such disregard to customer health. I have reported this bar to the California Bureau of Tobacco Control. All tehy had to do was be nice for a few hours and I would have ignored it. But they chose to be ******** and now they are going to be contacted by Jhonny Law. read more

Drove from the city through neighborhoods with cute, tiny shops, about 5 miles from 101N to get to Marin County's version of a "dive bar" to see Bob's Driveway. Dude with mohawk collecting my $5 had zero attitude. Large covered, walled-in patio with tables, booths, heat lamps and faux-rock feature that is part Madonna Inn and part Fraggle Rock. I knew that there were Doozers at the bottom of that thing. Or just cigarette butts. Clientele probably is slightly different on different nights maybe, but I got the feeling that there were a few regulars. Hippychick donning a tiara screeching "Lemmehavvashottathat!" and fifty-something denim grinders, dancing to anything at all. Everyone seemed to just be having a good time. Bartenders were so sweet, zero attitude as well & one even offered me another glass of water. I didn't drink all night because I was driving even further north after the show & I'm glad I didn't have anything because there were a TON of cops just circling the bar area and then even more on the highway nearby. In the crowded bar, I was bumped twice and both times, the people apologized sweetly. WHERE AM I?!? Fairfax. I think they're just nicer in Fairfax. read more

Was out looking for live music on Friday 5/3 and happened upon the Soul Satellites w/ Bonnie Hayes here. 10+ stars for the music, vocals, etc. They seemed to be having a great time and the crowd was great as well. Was not packed AT ALL for only an $8 cover charge?? Yes the place is a dive bar. No doubt there. The seating area that is 'next' to the bar is pretty odd. Diner style chairs, booths, to many lights, etc. but a place to sit and still hear the music, I guess? I liked the back patio, some interesting metal sculptures to take in. We played a few games of pool and had the tables to ourselves. Just had beer and club soda so can't attest to the quality of cocktails, but all of a sudden it was 1230 AM and it seemed like we had been there but an hour. I would call it a worthwhile stop and will be back! I did not really notice the ladies room as anything special-but the water was hot in the sink...which is always a bonus for me. read more

WOWZERS. I came to fairfax to get away from SF and lay low for a few days, and I am sure happy that I did! This bar was located just a block and a half a way from my airbnb, and we went there on the first night. We loved it so much that we went back the second as well! The live entertainment was so impressive, and it had us grooving all night long. The drink prices are hard to beat, and the bartenders are very very very personable and hospitable. I did my first live Solo Performance here (March 9th, 2008). Was my first time to Peri's and from the moment I walked in I was struck but the super chill vibe. CASH only bar.. Great LIVE music (not just because I was playing :D ). Nice stage set up for bands and solo acts as well. This place has a cool vibe to it... sometimes... I've had alot of fun in this place, but a few months ago I got a really sour taste in my mouth. Some lady that was bartending who I'd never seen before (mid to late 40's, with jacked up hair and tons of wrinkles, looked like she'd been up doing meth for the last 5 years) asked me "What the f*ck do you want" when I approached the bar to order my drink. I asked for a jack and coke, and as she walked away I heard her mutter "F*cking idiot.." Keep in mind, I've never met this delusional drunk ever in my life before this. So a drank my drink, waved her tip in the air in front of her, stuffed it back in my pocket and went to Nave's where you never get bad service. Keep in mind though, that was one bad experience, and for the most part, this place is great! read more

this is a dive bar cash only music venue with patio. they serve booze for money and hire bands to entertain and let u smoke cigarettes on their patio. they have billiard tables that function. and a table tennis thing. if u are a fairfax local, a friend of one, or just visiting and looking to get a no frills drink or catch a good band, this is the best place ever. 5 stars no doubt. if u expect the bartender to kiss your ass for the dollar or two you're about to tip him, try a different bar. on a slow day have Josh whip you up a custom mixed drink, or yell at Tyler to pour u a beer before u end up at gestalt house. if u need a receipt, write it yourself and ask for the bartenders autograph on it. great drinks, fair prices, fun intimate venue. 3/3 stars read more

By far my favorite Marin bar. The live music is consistently good, the bartenders friendly, and the locals welcoming. Just don't expect to get a pool table if you go on a league night because there are some serious pool players here! If you wait till league is over they are usually more than happy to help give pointers to newbies. Great outside seating area, but if you don't like smoke you might not love sitting out there because most people are smoking. Don't miss the bathrooms!! The girls is covered with Elvis memorabilia and the boys has Vargas girls(or so I've been told). Julio, the bartender is fabulous and can make just about any drink you might want. Definitely one of my favorite bars ever. Cash only, which is honestly great for the nostalgia, and frankly rather practical. Good people mostly, except for one hipster kid manager who is way too judgemental and has frankly been promoted far beyond his judgement level. He is rude, brash, and makes other people fight his battles. One manger does not necessarily ruin a bar; the bartenders, bar backs and bands make it what it is. However, I have seen overly aggressive decisions that have escalated situations at least once a week for the past 4 weeks in which I have been coming here from Roy, so try to avoid nights he is working. The behavior I have seen from him is not that of a professional, but is instead that of a spoiled brat looking for a fight rather than a manger with judgement. Otherwise, the atmosphere is awesome, the dive bar nostalgia is fantastic, the people remember your name, and the bartenders are surprisingly talented for what the place seems like from the outside. As long as Roy isn't working that day it is worth a trip across the bay just to go hang out where people will take care of you well. read more

Here's something you have to know about Peri's that nobody has mentioned. It really stinks of cigarette smoke inside. Yeah sure it's a non-smoking bar like every other bar in California. And yeah sure there's a covered outdoor smoking porch. But, the smokers hang out in the doorway, and so a lot of cigarette smoke wafts into the bar itself. Bottom line: If you're a cigarette smoker you'll love this place. You're not banished to the back alley, you can hang out and smoke and still enjoy the music. If you're a nonsmoker be prepared to inhale a lot of side stream smoke and come home stinking like a chimney. Me? I'm a non smoker. read more

On my first big night on in Fairfax I visited 2 of the 3 bars. First stopped at 19 Broadway w/ a $10 cover and a band that wasn't very captivating. Had an okay drink but there wasn't really a crowd and it was cinco de mayo. So we walked down the street to Peri's, paid a $5 cover and am so glad we did! The had an awesome Rockabilly band that had all the patrons grooving. Stepped out to the patio with a weird grotto looking thing. And then to the back to play pool. Julio the bartender was a lot of fun, thought I am not sure if that is his real name - possibly a made up cinco de mayo name. who knows. Large outdoor patio with heat lamps and big backyard area in redwoods, During the summer they do live music on the outdoor stage on the weekends. It is a slice of Fairfax!
