The waitress was extremely attentive, but it began to to feel like I was being rushed even though the place wasn't full. I was very disappointed with my pot roast melt. It was bland and the meat didn't stand up to the cheese. My tomato soup though was delicious! It had little chunks of tomato and onion and a good flavor. My Heath pure was good but very sweet. My herb rice had no seasoning,and my mashed potatoes said it was garlic it was not garlic. My diet coke was not a diet or a coke it was a Dr pepper. My shrimp smelled like a dirty 3 dollar hooker with a std. I ordered a brownie on the way out the waitress came with chocolate on her finger and the brownie was upside down it also tasted like a frosting from dollar general smeared on a piece of dry shit. After telling friends earlier in the week how I would do anything for a peaches and cream muffin but thought Perkins didn't make them anymore I stumbled upon this Elkhart location while in town and realized that THEY STILL EXIST! I bought a dozen muffins (peach, blueberry and pumpkin) at the buy 3 get 3 free price and have not been this happy about something so nostalgic in a long time! We went here for Thanksgiving dinner. I decided on their Hungry Man's Breakfast and my wife had their Thanksgiving dinner which came with a Free piece of pie. Our server was very attentive and kept up with all our wants. When our food arrived my entree was cold except for the pancakes so I generally eat them. My wife's entree came out piping hot and plenty of food on the plate. I did eat the eggs but the rest I boxed up for later. All in all this is a nice restaurant very clean and their help do everything they can to make your stay worthwhile. Took a while for a server to come to us after being seated, but once she did, we got our order quickly, and our glasses were kept full. We got the southwest avocado salad, and it surpassed expectations. The avocado was freshly peeled and cut, not preserved, as is typical at many downscale or chain restaurants. My husband and I stopped here on s road trip needing a good dinner. We both wanted the Salmon but they were out. They were also out of my second choice chicken salad. I settled for the hibachi shrimp while my hubby settled with chicken strips. On the plus side,they have our favorite drink cherry Coke Zero. The iced tea was good too. The hibachi shrimp was good but not as filling as a I would like. My husband tried Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy with chicken tenders. The four stars are because of the amazing Samantha, who made order out of chaos - and the delicious bakery items. Of course! They may be short staffed, I don't know. The servers are friendly, the food has been better but I'd come back because it's reliably decent; and you can count on the pies, muffins, etc. Samantha was cashing out the customers and there was a lot of confusion with some of the patrons. It was not Perkins's fault. Sometimes, big parties mess up their checks and it takes a while to untangle. Samantha was a pro. We love Perkins and are happy to see them when we are traveling since we don't have them where we live. They have great food, an interesting selection, and AWESOME muffins. We love them heated with some butter- wow- so good. I came in on Memorial Day, 5/27/19 with my two young children. I had scouted around the more popular area restaurants for a place to eat that wasnt overly-packed for the holiday. Driving past Perkins, I opted to give them my business because they looked mostly empty. It has been MANY MANY moons since I have eaten here, and I now remember why this establishment has long earned the nickname "Pukins". We walked in to an empty restaurant and were seated right away, but had to wait over 5 minutes for our server to greet us & take our drink orders. After he returned with our beverages, we placed our food order: a simple All-American meal (two over-easy eggs, two strips bacon, hash browns) with extra bacon & a side of toast. My young daughter chose the kids' breakfast, which comes with bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, & a slice of toast. We got our food fast enough, but it wasn't very good at all. The bacon was paper thin and tasted very cheap. The toast came slathered in MARGARINE, one of my two eggs were overcooked. But the absolute worst part was the sorry excuse for hash browns. The menu advertised them as "crispy, shredded potatoes".. they were hardly crispy & tasted disgusting. Almost as tho the oil they had been fried in has not been changed in a very LONG time! Seriously SO nasty! All in all, the restaurant was pretty clean & they had some beautiful looking desserts on display (we did not try them, so I cant comment on flavor). Decor was boring & the set up is.. different. Our server was nice, albeit a bit distracted with his nonexistent customers. Will I be back? Probably not. Starting off by saying, we're not from this area and love Perkins as a chain. We have even eaten at other locations at least 10 times over the course of this 2 week trip. This particular location however, had an almost entirely empty restaurant and was very dark. Upon entering we were told that they won't seat us without a mask and when we said we didn't have any, we were told we could purchase them at $1 each. That's the first time I've ever been charged by a business for a mask they're telling me I have to wear in order to give them my business, which seemed especially silly for the less than 2 second walk to a table at an empty restaurant. Perkin's is normally not an exceptional eatery, it's standard diner food. However, this Perkin's is special because of the great management and staff. The first time we went there we were just looking for a breakfast place that has healthy breakfast options, and we were really impressed by the manager Shane and how well this place was ran for a restaurant chain. Food: Typical diner food, what makes them stand out from Denny's or IHOP is that they have healthy options like turkey sausage and turkey bacon, their muffins are amazing. Coffee: The coffee is really good, it was a surprise that they had such great coffee. We asked the manager about it and looked it up...it's a fair trade coffee. Atmosphere: Typical diner setting. I went to Perkins with a large group of around 25 people for a birthday party. I had very low expectations but had a fantastic experience. The service was excellent. Our food came out hot and quickly. They have a great menu with pictures of all the dishes. The amazing thing was that all the meals looked exactly like the pictures! I had a hamburger and fries, and if you can get a good burger at a breakfast place that says a lot! Another plus is the baked goods. A lot of these Perkins Restaurants have closed thru the years in Ohio. Traveled to Michigan and had breakfast before we left for a return trip. I was reminded how I miss going to Perkins. Our breakfast was fresh and prepared well. I love the Twin berry pancake syrup. My wife and I split a sampler meal. It had smoked sausage, eggs, sausage links, bacon potatoes and also included a stack of pancakes. I wish there were more of these around. It's a great family restaurant with a great menu. read more

We were forced to stop in Elkhart due to terrible weather on Valentine's Day. We were going to go to Perkins for dinner but they closed due to the weather, I applaud them for this. So, in the morning, after looking at our hotels dismal looking breakfast we decided to try again. We bundled up and headed around the corner to Perkins. It was fairly crowded but it is a huge restaurant. We were seated immediately and our server was at our table within 30 seconds. She took our drink orders. I ordered coffee (because they have flavored creamer) and my daughter ordered OJ. Our drinks were delivered within 2 minutes and we ordered. I got the eggs Benedict with sausage and home fries. My daughter ordered chick fried steak. It was probably 10 minutes and our food arrived. The breakfast potatoes are awesome!! Everything was hot and really good, no complaints at all. Let's be honest here if we are the first people to come in it makes logical sense that we would be the first ones to be served out of the entire group we came here with.
