The food and atmosphere were wonderful. A friend had told us about the all-day $1 oyster special on Mondays, so we went in and sat at the bar. The bartender Chris was very nice and told us about the special, then handed us a daily oyster menu. We each said we wanted a dozen, and would take 3 of each of the 4 oysters of the day. We also ordered a crab dip. Chris said the oysters would come before the crab dip, and they did. We later realized the he never put the crab dip order in. No big deal, but he never came back around to get us more drinks, so we sat there empty for quite a while. The crab dip came out and he never came around to give utensils, nor filled our drinks. When he finally asked if we wanted another round, we were ready for the check. When it came, the oysters were at the full price. When we asked, he said that the oysters of the day were different from the $1 oysters, and he said he "thought that was understood ". Fortunately, we were in a position where we could pay $150 for a meal that we expected to be $50. If you go for the oyster special, just make sure they explain what you're ordering. read more

First night in Wilmington visiting our daughter and we always try to find new places for dinner. She mentioned that Perla Raw Bar was newly opened and it was right down the street from her home which was perfect! My first impression walking up to this new place was that it was warm and welcoming! The doors were all open and many people were seated outside enjoying the warm fall evening. We were pleasantly greeted and our server got our drinks and appetizers ordered quickly. We started with local oysters and the buttermilk biscuit plate with some specialty cocktails. All were very good. We ordered a variety of different dinners- flounder, fish and chips, lobster roll and shrimp burger. It took longer than expected for everything to arrive, but totally understandable considering they have only been open about 3 weeks. The outside seating is so comfortable that we didn't mind the wait and ordered a second round of cocktails. Our dinners were all cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. There was not one disappointed diner :-) The only thing that is important to point out is that we felt the portion sizes were slightly small considering the hefty price on everything. I wish this restaurant the best of success and we'll be sure to try it out again on a future visit. read more

We ordered the cornbread as a starter which is just very sweet bread with an unappetizing amount of melted butter seeping through it. I ordered the fish and chips which were underwhelming for the price. We also ordered the smash burger which was pretty good, no complaints about that one. Disappointed that they're already changing the menu after being open for such a short time; One of our favorite appetizers was the Brussel Sprouts and they've been removed from the menu. Seems suspect to me. Priced high, where is the seafood from? Doesn't say "fresh" or "wild caught" anywhere on menu. Wines are not listed by Vineyard so you have no idea of the state,Country, Region the wine is from. Needs some work but they are new so I'm sure it's just a learning curve. Best of luck read more

Delicious late afternoon lunch dining on shrimp taco, corn tortilla, ilote,cojito & an outstanding shrimp burger with fried green tomato. Disappointed only in the limp french fries ordered as a side for both dishes. Each dish was nicely plated & tempting. Our server was friendly & attentive yet thankfully not overly intrusive. It was a beautiful early, very sunny evening & we chose to sit in the garden area seated on comfortable outdoor sofas at a low rise table surrounded by palm trees & a privacy frnce that hid the parked cars just behind the area. Went to Perla for the 1st time last night and it is the place to be! Though, not inside, really. The tables are quite close together, some in the middle of the room. It's very difficult to hear inside, so we waited 30 minutes for an outdoor table. That table ended up being awesome, until our server got there. She took half the table's drink order and appetizer order and then left. She often walked away before addressing everybody in our party, and unfortunately, even though the food was amazing, the service was less than impressive for a spot in Mayfair. Had the service been up to par with the food, this place would be five stars easy! Every time our server came over to our table, we felt like we were inconveniencing her. She brought one check for four women, not even asking how we wanted to split our bills when I asked her initially to put the appetizers on my check. Really wish the service matched the hype! The place is neat, the servers are great. The oysters not much. There is a balance to achieve for oysters when they are cooked and have dressings as they are fatty per se. We tried Perla and loved it so much we went back again within the week. We went on a Monday evening and there was no issues getting a table, later in the week also no issues but it was much busier. Cocktails were great, margarita and a gin drink. The oyster sampler was delicious. My favorite was the fish and chips, so good. We also had the smash burger, fish tacos, and the lobster roll. My son loved the lobster roll, better than ones he's had up in Nova Scotia. Truffle fries and cornbread, don't miss those. Dessert the beignets are a must. Flourless chocolate cake is okay but the beignets are amazing. Decor is lovely and I think outdoor area will be so nice once it gets warmer. Service on the first night was perfect, second night when it was busier it was slower but understandable. read more

We decided to try Perla for the first time last night and went with another couple who had not been there. I wish we had gone with all the 5 star review people, as we did not get the same food they did! The flounder tacos were small and tasteless. The lobster roll is expensive and tasteless. The drinks were expensive, but okay. The chips are great! We decided Perla's is for having a drink & chips outside as patio is very charming. (Inside is acoustically wrong and it is very difficult to talk with friends.) After your drink outside, eat somewhere else. The service was good, the staff was friendly, outside atmosphere charming, and the dog at the bar very cute. However, food, noise level inside, and prices did not make 5 stars for us! read more
