First night in Wilmington visiting our daughter and we always try to find new places for dinner. She mentioned that Perla Raw Bar was newly opened and it was right down the street from her home which was perfect! My first impression walking up to this new place was that it was warm and welcoming! The doors were all open and many people were seated outside enjoying the warm fall evening. We were pleasantly greeted and our server got our drinks and appetizers ordered quickly. We started with local oysters and the buttermilk biscuit plate with some specialty cocktails. All were very good. We ordered a variety of different dinners- flounder, fish and chips, lobster roll and shrimp burger. It took longer than expected for everything to arrive, but totally understandable considering they have only been open about 3 weeks. The outside seating is so comfortable that we didn't mind the wait and ordered a second round of cocktails. Our dinners were all cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. There was not one disappointed diner :-) The only thing that is important to point out is that we felt the portion sizes were slightly small considering the hefty price on everything. I wish this restaurant the best of success and we'll be sure to try it out again on a future visit. read more

Went to Perla for the 1st time last night and it is the place to be! Though, not inside, really. The tables are quite close together, some in the middle of the room. It's very difficult to hear inside, so we waited 30 minutes for an outdoor table. That table ended up being awesome, until our server got there. She took half the table's drink order and appetizer order and then left. She often walked away before addressing everybody in our party, and unfortunately, even though the food was amazing, the service was less than impressive for a spot in Mayfair. Had the service been up to par with the food, this place would be five stars easy! Every time our server came over to our table, we felt like we were inconveniencing her. She brought one check for four women, not even asking how we wanted to split our bills when I asked her initially to put the appetizers on my check. Really wish the service matched the hype! Will try it again (with a different server next time). read more

We ordered the cornbread as a starter which is just very sweet bread with an unappetizing amount of melted butter seeping through it. I ordered the fish and chips which were underwhelming for the price. We also ordered the smash burger which was pretty good, no complaints about that one. Disappointed that they're already changing the menu after being open for such a short time; One of our favorite appetizers was the Brussel Sprouts and they've been removed from the menu. Seems suspect to me. Priced high, where is the seafood from? Doesn't say "fresh" or "wild caught" anywhere on menu. Wines are not listed by Vineyard so you have no idea of the state,Country, Region the wine is from. Needs some work but they are new so I'm sure it's just a learning curve. Best of luck read more

Delicious late afternoon lunch dining on shrimp taco, corn tortilla, ilote,cojito & an outstanding shrimp burger with fried green tomato. Disappointed only in the limp french fries ordered as a side for both dishes. Each dish was nicely plated & tempting. Our server was friendly & attentive yet thankfully not overly intrusive. It was a beautiful early, very sunny evening & we chose to sit in the garden area seated on comfortable outdoor sofas at a low rise table surrounded by palm trees & a privacy frnce that hid the parked cars just behind the area. The place is neat, the servers are great. The oysters not much. There is a balance to achieve for oysters when they are cooked and have dressings as they are fatty per se. For cocktails is very nice, love the marina type windows because they're clean. Please turn the patio heaters on during winter for outside seating. read more

We tried Perla and loved it so much we went back again within the week. We went on a Monday evening and there was no issues getting a table, later in the week also no issues but it was much busier. Cocktails were great, margarita and a gin drink. The oyster sampler was delicious. My favorite was the fish and chips, so good. We also had the smash burger, fish tacos, and the lobster roll. My son loved the lobster roll, better than ones he's had up in Nova Scotia. Truffle fries and cornbread, don't miss those. Dessert the beignets are a must. Flourless chocolate cake is okay but the beignets are amazing. Decor is lovely and I think outdoor area will be so nice once it gets warmer. Service on the first night was perfect, second night when it was busier it was slower but understandable. read more

I wish we had gone with all the 5 star review people, as we did not get the same food they did! The flounder tacos were small and tasteless. The lobster roll is expensive and tasteless. The drinks were expensive, but okay. The chips are great! We decided Perla's is for having a drink & chips outside as patio is very charming. (Inside is acoustically wrong and it is very difficult to talk with friends.) After your drink outside, eat somewhere else. The service was good, the staff was friendly, outside atmosphere charming, and the dog at the bar very cute. However, food, noise level inside, and prices did not make 5 stars for us! read more

The best part of our experience were the cocktails. They clearly have an experienced bartender. As for the menu, they clearly are over proud of their offerings. Do not go hungry. Although tasty, it is woefully over priced for the serving size. A sushi size serving of tuna in a plate full of lettuce at a full size entree price is ridiculous. We're on the coast for Pete's sake, not in Kansas! The small plates were hit or miss. Also, allowing a dog to sit at the bar with it's owner pretty much topped it off. Do not recommend. read more

Wow what a surprise. Took my husband out for his 80th birthday along with our youngest son (52), our granddaughter and great granddaughter. Husband and son enjoy sharing raw oysters before dinner and they were not disappointed with the selection. Granddaughter got shrimp tacos and not being a seafood lover (Maryland Steamed Crabs and crab cakes, oh yeah) I got the double burger. Holy cow was it exceptional and the home made fries had everyone eating sharing. Son got the shrimp and grits and husband got a lobster roll. He ask for just meat on the roll and melted butter on the side. He is from Maine so that was the way he eats them. No matter the request they always said yes, not a problem. We all decided this was a great find and even though it is over an hour from home we will be back. A little expensive but then so is McDonalds and we walked away so very happy. I was disappointed in my overall experience with Perla as it seemed to seduce your eyes with the eclectic beach decor but underwhelmed the palate with a nice little price tag. If you like oysters, they had a nice varied selection. The shrimp dishes that we began our evening with were underwhelming in themselves as the shrimp were tiny and they proceeded to then cut those in half instead of giving us full luscious shrimp, which you would expect nothing less at a pricey seafood restaurant at the beach. The service was pleasant, however, the waiter we had was not knowledgeable and was not inclined to find out details to answers our questions such as if the fish was wild caught or farmed. The lemon tart might have been the most disappointing part of the evening. There was absolutely no finesse to it. Completely lacking in the lemon part alone, it was drenched it sweetness and the crust tasted stale and was lacking flavor. An unbalanced dessert to say the least. The ambience was good, it had beautiful decor and details that seemed very trendy, but unfortunately this really seemed to be their only cards at play to distract from the mediocre food. read more
