Anyway, we poked around online and found PFD as a solid choice. Talking to them over the phone they were super friendly and cheerful, talking to them when we checked in they were super friendly and cheerful, and so on, and so on. Just the nicest people. We got her teeth cleaned and ready, then came back today to have her crown put on. It took 2.5 hours, but them's the breaks, I suppose. I went next door for bbq while I waited. No one likes the dentist, but they made this as pleasant and painless as they possibly could. Back to clean more quadrants (of her teeth) in the next few weeks. read more

I would like to share my exceptional experience with Dr. Kumudra Soe at Perrinville Family Dentistry. We all know how difficult it is to find an ethical dentist who genuinely cares about patients. With several years of experience as a dental assistant and expanded assistant, I have encountered my fair share of dental professionals. For nearly 30 years, I trusted a dentist who suddenly claimed I had eight cavities in just six months--a highly unlikely scenario. Despite my doubts, I initially trusted their assessment. However, after encountering significant dishonesty and a lack of integrity from this dentist and their staff, I knew I had to find a new provider. My subsequent experience with a temporary dentist in Meadowdale was equally disappointing. The final straw was when a broken filling was dismissed with a casual "we'll take care of it later." As someone who has received consistent dental care every six months from age 4 to 54, this was alarming. I found myself scared and suffering, uncertain if I could trust another dentist. Then I found Dr. Kumudra Soe at Perrinville Family Dentistry. Understandably, I was anxious and wary due to past experiences. The office welcomed me with open arms, displaying kindness, patience, and transparency. Dr. Soe replaced several of my poor composite fillings, working gently and empathetically. Her genuine concern and soft-spoken demeanor were incredibly reassuring. During one visit I even had her ask me if I was ok while she could clearly tell I was very anxious, so she started to hum with the very soothing music that was on in the office. What a great human connection to reassure all is well and safe. Dr. Soe's integrity stood out when she proactively addressed a painful filling, without making excuses or deflecting blame. She exhibited true professionalism and patient care, dealing with difficult situations with grace and diligence. Dr Soe replaced it with no questions. Dr. Soe and her team genuinely care about their patients. We have since moved our entire family to her practice. The front desk staff--Cheryl, Mandy, Nicole, and Nikki--are fantastic, always kind, friendly, and accommodating. The hygienist, Sandy, is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and wonderfully personable, alleviating my anxiety and providing one of the most educational cleanings I've ever had. I've never felt SO SO SO comfortable during a dentist visit before. I found Dr. Jacky's place via yelp and because it was pretty close to my son's Pre-School. My husband volunteered as tribute to have his cleaning before mine and I heard nothing but great things from him. After finally giving in, I scheduled my dentist appointment. The staff I spoke to over the phone explained the check-up and the cleaning scheduled after. During my appointment, I was greeted with the team at the front, my teeth were cleaned by Sandi who was very gentle with my teeth and their sensitivity and hilarious to talk and listen to. Dr. Jacky came in after my xrays and cleaning and performed his exam (Dunn Dunn dunnnnnnnn). All is well and I'm glad our family found a dentist and a team who cares about their patient and their patients background (example: past dentist traumas) to better understand why (me) used to hate going to the dentist. Friday afternoon, 36 hours before a Mexico vacation and a crown decides to pop off after eating a caramel (never again!). Dr Jacky answered the off hour call immediately and I lucked out Mandy was in the (closed office) doing some catch-up work. She was so gracious, professional and efficient as she temp cemented the crown on, gave me an emergency pack of goodies should it pop off in Mexico, and has me scheduled for an appt when I'm back. Holidays, out of state grand babies, etc. - worked 30 years with dental insurance. Purchased Individual dental insurance effective 1/1/14 after the holidays - darn. Tooth exam, xray - if not paid in full - tooth would NOT be fixed. Pushed by front office staff repeatedly for $... I requested I pay 1/2 and other 1/2 in EXACTLY - per staff - 1 month. Staff implied I was fortunate that filling ONLY cost $400+ - some of their fillings $800+ - we agreed on 1/2 payment that day. Very uncomfortable $ situation. Filling replaced - 2 weeks or less later - other front tooth next to filling replaced - did same thing - coincidence. Called office before Christmas - scheduled appointment for 1/7/14 - for other front tooth repair. Call went OK. Called office 1/6/14 to confirm long awaited appointment. Attempted to give insurance info - talked with 2 women staff members. Both totally confused about my insurance - told them what Delta Dental said my copay would be - 1 said how can they do that when we bill for 8 separate filling ADA codes, really? Oh boy... Asked if I could make other 1/2 payment 5 days later than discussed - cat ended up in the fantastic Vet Office in Perrinville on an emergency basis over holidays. I ended up in tears over the phone call with the office - recent surgery complications, family flu over the holiday, patiently waited for tooth repair, blah, blah, blah. The office is extremely serious about their $$$...not for faint of heart. Agreed they would call insurance 1st thing in morning day of appointment - call me. Talked with staff next day - said she did not really understand insurance - but I would have to pay the copays for new filling, office exam, xrays, cleaning plus other 1/2 of 1st filling. Told her I would call her right back - made clear they did not want to care for me. Did the math - let me see, mortgage, electricity, food, or front tooth filling appointment with NO respect and lots of added STRESS. Called back - asked them to cancel appointment - left v/m msg. Office did not call to acknowledge v/m - so I called them to verify they received msg. Not a knowledgable, friendly staff - they seem to run the show. Have never been brought to tears by a health care office! Definitely do not prioritize patient care vs $ - not people oriented - nice Christmas decorations though. Love this fun approachable office. I've been going here for 10+ years and Dr. Jacky knows what he's doing. If you're a patient like me and need to know each step of a procedure, he and Sandy educated me through my fear of dentistry. Not just the fear in dentistry but also my fear in bills. His staff walked me through each payment I had to pay and worked out a payment plan with me since my insurance wasn't being fair with me at the time. I tried calling my own insurance with no explanations. Once Mandy took hold of the insurance issue, she managed to get them to cover their portion that was originally poromised.
