I want to start by saying I have been going to see these guys since they were a grease monkey. They have consistently been freaking amazing. I trust them and will be supporting them as long as I live in Denver. Ok so lets get down to brass tacks and talk about my last expereince. My jeep wrangler started running a little hot. the radiator fan was running all hard whenever i was in stop and go traffic. But i made a major major mistake, i took my car to the dealership. The dealership told me i needed to replace the entire radiator for $1,100. RED FLAG. i refused. took my car down to Perry and Sons where they fixed my car for 11$. ELEVEN DOLLARS instead of ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. This family run business is awesome and i am proud to support them for their integrity and honesty. as for some of the reviews here, it seems they are just upset their cars are having problems and taking it out on these guys. i've been going to them for years and they have always been amazing. One time maybe 5-6 years ago i took my wife's car into them for an inspection before a big road trip. The car was all good and they refused payment for their efforts. who does that?! they said nothing was wrong with our car and told us just to come back to them when there is something wrong. bam. customer for life. be smart and bring your car to these guys to have them look it over whenever you need work done. i do and its paid off immensely. read more

Don't go here if you can help it. I brought my 2010 Forester in last year (June 2023) to get a coolant leak looked at. Well turns out, the water pump needed to be replaced, so I had that done, as well as the timing belt. First sign of shoddy work was the fact that when I drove home, the car started losing power to the radio and dash lights. Thankfully, I lived very close to the shop at the time and was able to get it home, at which point I discovered that the alternator wasn't re-connected after the work done. Easy fix for even someone like me, but c'mon, how do you overlook this? Fast forward to a little more than a year and I come to find out that the car is leaking coolant again, and was told by another mechanic that the water pump is leaking again. So either they used a cheap part or didn't put it in properly. I don't have the time to take this car back to this shop to have it done, so I'm just going to have the pump replaced by someone that knows what they are doing. read more

SCAM. TYPICAL MALE MECHANICS. I am a nursing student that live in the mountains. I brought my truck in to fix the brakes and rotors. I drive over Hoosier pass daily. Desperately needing my brakes done with limited time, I stopped in to get back to the mountains safely. (I normally do them myself & never had any of the situations they caused to my F150). Next thing I know my ABS & Emergency brake lights come on randomly while driving the pass daily. Then my truck starts to wobble. Being in nursing school, I finally made it back up after five months to have them answer why my emergency brake lights were coming on. They said it was my wheel hub. I already paid 1200 and now they want 1000 more to fix this with little resolution to my questionable brakes for the last 5 months - death wobble included. I went to a friend and it was a $100 tie rod and my 4x4 had also been severed. Cut and non-working on top of that. I had to drive my ruck back to the mountains with hazards on and under 45 mph terrified. I got it fixed for $250 - not a $1000 like they quoted. And now I have to fix the 4x4 they severed and my ABS and emergency parking lights that they screwed. Horrible. Untrustworthy. Scam. read more

We have taken our vehicles here for years now and they always deliver in price and work. We really haven't had one complaint. Every time we need something done, vehicle inspected and serviced. If something else is found we are given the price and the option to say no. They just don't do the work and then call you afterward. NEVER GO HERE. I have been going to places like Jiffy Lube, ect for oil changes my entire life and have never had a problem. I took my car to Perry and Sons one morning because it's closer to me. Now my oil is completely leaking everywhere and has been since I went to Perry's & Sons for an oil changed. Im assuming they will mess your car up just in order for you to take it back and then charge you more money. SAME thing happened to my boyfriend after going the same day as me. Left a voicemail at their place explaining my oil is leaking and no response. Horrible business- go here if you want them to mess your car up so you can take it back and pay them MORE. read more

I had some work done with Perry and Sons, I had no issues I thought they were high priced but I went ahead and had the work done. Come to find out the work that was done to my car wasn't done correctly. But I didn't know that because I don't know about cars! I took my car to another mechanic for other work and I was informed that the work I had done at perry and sons was a crappy job. So I called asked him if he can look me up on the computer and he said they didn't have a computer... So I had to go find my receipt and I took it in so they kept my car overnight said they would look at it, the following day the owner told me that it needed a whole different part and that it wasn't the work he did on it, he said he took a video of my car as proof... I asked him if he could send it to my phone he said no my phone don't send things. I asked him if I could get it on paper and he said no! I just had my car inspected by another mechanic shop and the only thing they found wrong was the job Perry and sons did and another minor thing. I asked him if he could refer me to somebody who could fix it and again he said no he doesn't know anybody who could fix that minor problem.. he was very short and rude like I did something wrong it hurt my feelings because even after he blamed the other mechanic shop for lying to me, which I know they didn't lie. I was way past due for an oil change due to quarantine, and was calling everybody trying to find a place I could drop into to get it done the day of a couple weeks ago with zero luck. Then I remembered that I drive by this place all the time and gave them a call, expecting them to also tell me they were booked for the day...but that was not the case. They told me that they do services first come, first serve, so I zipped over there for an oil change and was out within 40 minutes. It was awesome to be able to get it done so quickly, especially since it was pretty last minute. There have been many times that I have booked an oil change appointment at another place and sat in the waiting room for an hour, only to look out the window to see that my car hasn't moved an inch since I arrived. The work was quick and fairly priced. As expected, they talked to me about a shampoo and conditioner for the engine ($29.99) and air filters ($20 x 2) which were apparently super dirty. They topped off all my fluids and vacuumed my car. After reading some reviews, I'm a little nervous about the quality of the fluids they used...we will find out! While I was waiting I was told that my rear breaks were shot and I needed new ones. The sheet had a low % on it to describe the wear and tear left on them. Luckily, I know my car and my services. I pushed back and let them know that my breaks were pretty new and was met with a suspicious look, a couple questions about where and when I had it done and if I knew the place, then they said they would go back and check them again. They came back, apologized, and told me they were pretty new and crossed out the old data on the invoice to replace it with the new %. The reason for the mistake, "Rear breaks are smaller and his guys didn't know that." This is an odd excuse since even I knew that rear breaks are smaller than front, from having my breaks changed over the years, and if you have any general knowledge of how breaks work. Very nice guys, decent pricing, super fast. If you know your car and you know what it needs, have at it. From this experience I cant tell if they are careless/inexperienced or shady, but both reasons are enough for me not to go back. read more

Turns out they have failed to change my air filter the last 2 years since I have going to their shop. They always try to up sell me on conditioners for an extra $40. I use to love this place and referred friends to have there car worked on here but never again. I came in for a break and rotor job and told them ahead of time that two screws were stripped and how much will it cost total (i boight the parts already)they said "100 total just for labor for one hour" I was happy with that but then I get a call one hour before pick up and they said they have to drill those two screws out and it will cost one more hour labor (an extra $100) when at the very beginning I asked how much. I hope that extra hundred was worth losing a loyal customer over. read more

I have to say, this place is wonderful. In under 24 hours I had lost my credit card, my bank card was cancelled due to a fraud concern (I have been out of town unexpectedly longer than anticipated) and suddenly the car I was using while here just stopped. Though I have a current membership with AAA in my home state, they didnt have it here....After about 2 hours of calling i figured it was best to see if I needed a battery or gas in the hope that it was something simple. I contacted P & S since they were close by and though close to closing time, Jason dispatched Joe who arrived quickly with some gas. Turns out the gas guage is not working correctly in the borrowed car - first time I have ever run out of gas so I'm glad we tried that first. Good news the battery and electric is top notch. I brought my Jeep in yesterday with an electrical problem. I'm not mechanically inclined. The warning light indicated a major electrical problem. Cost ranging from 900.00 to 1000.00. Turns out all it was a lose battery cable. Problem solved for 50.00. They could have told me anything and I would have had no way of verifying it. They had the kindness and the integrity to say they found a simple solution and it was fixed. I was impressed and grateful. They have my business and my trust. Nice place. These guys are so dishonest, unreliable & shady. I am also a single woman with some automotive experience, but I am new to the area and when my car died about 8 blocks from their shop I remembered seeing them and had the car toed to them. What began as a hopeful experience to have my car honestly & successfully serviced turned into a 3 week nightmare. My first mistake was not doing more research into these guys reputation- as it turns out by a variety of locals & other mechanics/ car shops they have quite the bad reputation. Over all these guys made promises along the way to have my car serviced/fixed by various dates, never did they keep their promises; my car had been sitting their and I finally got a call a day after they said it would be ready (day 9) and they hadn't even begun fully diagnosing the problem let along fixing it. I don't know what they were thinking, but I definitely got the impression that they didn't care about my car, my business, their reputation, their integrity, and kept pushing my car to the side while they chose to work on my more lucrative car repairs. My car sat at their shop collecting duct and mean while I had no transportation to get to work and appointments. Who is going to rent a car for 3 weeks. Taking my car to their shop ended up costing me soooo much money and I never got it fixed. I went to the Edgewater police department to get advice on how to handle these guys. When I mentioned who it was, the police office got a smile and just shook his head- he gave me advice about how to proceed. I can't mention it here. After 3 weeks I went to get my car to have it towed, they wouldn't release my car with out paying them. I was told not to pay them anything, but I was so desperate to have my car back that I did give them money. After I paid them and was walking out the door, the Dad, I presume Perry, pathetically started saying all these disparaging things about my car, saying it was messed up and probably can't be fixed. It almost felt like insult that someone would shout at another person after a fight. These guys are scumbags. I had the car toed to ANOTHER shop, and the guys were wonderful. Avoid at all costs. Technician potentially ruined my 2.5 month old tire while trying to put a patch in it for a nail hole. They also gave the car back to me with the tire pressure light still on. When I returned to the shop to mention it, they argued with me that I needed to "Drive around on it for a while". When I asked what psi they inflated it to, the technician replied with 40, completely unaware that the factory spec is 32 PSI cold. He even argued with me that "40 is standard". GARBAGE. Brought my car in to get a broken tie-rod replaced. The quoted me 300-400 for the repair with a front end alignment. Called when the car was done to get the final cost and the guy said $275 pre tax (I thought "Wow! its never cheaper.") Then when I got there the price was $380 after tax. There is no way Colorado tax is $105 on $275 but I let it slide - maybe I misunderstood. Paid and drove off happy. BUT, the front end was all out of wack. Called them back and asked them about the front end and asked if I could bring it back in. The guy looked over my paper work and said that an alignment was NOT done. WHO REPLACES A TIE-ROD AND DOESN'T ALIGN THE FRONT END??? If it was gonna cost more, call me!, like every other shop in the world. The offered recourse from the guy on the phone "uh, well and alignment is $103, you can bring it back in." right after he said "oh yeah, tie-rods are one of the three things that need an alignment afterwards.". So cost aside, they just did half the job and sent me out with a still broken car. Its a shame too; everyone there was nice and accommodating but that only goes so far if you are not going to do the job I came there for you to do. Its just bogus! I would have paid the extra if they told me I needed to but instead I got charged more for something that I have to take to someone else to fix. GARBAGE. read more

As I was driving to work, my replace oil light began to ding, so I searched all over the internet for options nearby. Although there had been some negative reviews about up-selling unnecessary services, I thought I'd give this place a try for its convenience. As many other reviewers have stated, my experience was completely positive! No additional services or accessories were pushed on me at all the the service was very affordable and done in an extremely timely manner. I will also add that today was a very snowy day, and their parking lots and sidewalks were nicely shoveled. I whole-heartedly recommend bringing your car here. read more

If i could give them 10 stars I would! I took my car for an oil change where I bought my car (not Perry and Sons) and was told I needed breaks (thought it was strange since there were no noises) done and it would cost $279 per axle! I thought that was a very high fee so I started asking around and several acquaintances named Perry and Sons. I communicated with them and they had a special for $159 per axle! My partner needed brakes too (hers were squeaking so she needed them asap) so I told her about P and S and she got the work she needed, all axles plus a full inspection for about $350 give or take. Her car feels so safe now! Fast forward to today, I finally was able to get the money together for my brakes so I took my vehicle this morning and ask them to check brakes and do the inspection. I just received a call from their office, my car's breaks DO NOT need to be replaced yet! What a pleasant surprise! This type of honesty makes me have hope in humanity again. And obviously I am never coming back to that other place where they were trying to take advantage of me and lied about my car's needs. Thank you Perry and Sons for making my day! I have taken my car in twice, and both times they try to up sell you with items you don't really need done to your car. The bill can add up quick! Although, this is not even close to my sole reason for the 1 star but thought it was worth mentioning. The main reason is, they seem to have filled my windshield washer tank with watered down windshield washer fluid not meant for cold temperatures, which has now frozen and caused me several problems on my commute to work. I have never in my many many years of driving and living in Colorado had this happen. At this point there is nothing I can do and hope when it thaws it doesn't damage the mechanics of the windshield wiper fluid tank and hopefully I can make it to and from work on the highway with no windshield wiper fluid. I can't believe a place is that cheap to do that. I will not be taking my car back there again!! read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. I went in for an oil change. They called me to tell me my dipstick was broken and would need to be taken to the dealership to have the oil drained to find the broken piece. When I arrived they charged me $100 for an oil change and told me they changed it anyway despite recommending the dealership drain and change it while looking for the broken piece. Total rip off. One of the workers also was not wearing a mask. Very disappointed they absolutely took advantage and made me feel uncomfortable when I confronted them about why they would change the oil and charge me when the dealership would need to do that. They are something rare and wonderful in the realm of auto maintenance and repair: honest, competent, great mechanics! I took my 18 year old van to them for a lube and oil and they informed me I needed rear brakes. OK, I knew they were was overdue--I got the brakes. Then I had a funny noise so I took the van back and they replaced the brakes since they were the new variable, and checked everything, and found I had a motor mount problem. Well, I could wait a while on that. But what about the noise? Some more checking and--problem with the trailing arm. And probably the wheelbearings.... You know how this looks? We're up around another $1000 (and all I started with was a lube and oil and brake job!). This is when you find another garage, right? Nope. I had enough reasons to trust them (from previous experiences as well as what others had told me about them), so I bit the bullet and said, "Go for it." They called me today to say my bill was more like $600. Why? Well, when they got in there they found I needed a new upper motor mount, and there was nothing wrong with the wheel bearings they'd blamed the movement on--so they didn't do the wheel bearings. But they did do the other things listed as well as other small things they noticed along the way...even to re-attaching some trim that had worked loose (I'd planned on just duct taping it back in place--I mean, it's an old van!). Now, a less honest place might have fit our stereotypes and either gone ahead with the wheel bearings, since after all I'd authorized that, or even NOT done the wheel bearings when they saw they weren't needed but charged me anyhow. Isn't this the kind of nightmare we hear about all the time? Especially we women who are thought to be pretty easy to deceive? But not Perry and Sons. There's a reason they've been in the neighborhood for at least the past 33 years under the same ownership. There's a reason this place on the corner of Sheridan and 26th, despite its tiny parking area and unimpressive office, has more business than it can keep up with. However, I've brought my '98 Subaru to them for a number of different issues, and they've always fixed the problem right the first time. The cost? Shockingly low. This place is a total scam, caveat emptor. My girlfriend went in for a simple oil change and they upsold her all kinds of ridiculous worthless crap like a "fuel system cleaning" and an "EIG Flush". They upcharged her over $150+ of worthless services and intimidated her into buying their crap. On top of all of the $150 "service" it didn't even include an air filter?!?! Also when they changed her wiper blades they took the old ones off but forgot to put new ones on. She drove away and tried to use them and scratched her windshield. When she came back to complain, THEY BLAMED IT ON HER! I'm calling the BBB to report them. I just hope their nonsense "engine flush" and "fuel system cleaning" doesn't actually do real damage to her car. read more

Brought my car in cause it was tripping 3 codes and leaking oil. Gave me my car back I drove it 30 miles all 3 codes came back on. They didn't touch the oil leak it was still leaking all over my garage. Bring it back in they turn the code off and say it was just a technical issue and don't do anything about the oil leak they tell me my car is fine. I drive another 30 miles and all 3 codes came back on again same codes. They didn't fix anything. Wouldn't trust this place even with the good reviews. Super shady way of doing business read more

I recently went to this place in March, and my synthetic oil should last 5-6k. Unfortunately, thanks to whoever worked on my car at this location, the cap was never screwed back on and oil leaked all over my engine. I not only had to pay for my car to be cleaned, but also had to have another oil change prematurely. The very LEAST you could do is screw a cap on! One experience I had was when i went in a little early for an oil change and the mechanic let me know that I was actually good to go without paying. That was a breath of fresh air since he brought a level of integrity that many shops would not have. I appreciate that tremendously. My next visit was for a synthetic oil change. Everything seems to be OK except I have had a heating and engine temp issue since this oil change which was not there before. Granted, I cannot conclusively say that Perry and Sons bears any responsibility for it, but I will say the issue only started after the work was done. Reputable, yes. Just stopped in today when my car was acting odd and the check engine light came on. They were quick and efficient in solving the problem or letting me know the further steps I need to take. I would def. come back here again for maintenance checks and oil changes. There was a girl at the desk when I first arrived who was very rude and I almost left on account of her but someone else was able to take over and help out. I think she is a daughter in the family owned business and wanted to give me sass because I couldn't tell her what was wrong with my car. That welcoming left something to be desired but I saw her later get scolded. Karma is real people(side note) I am gonna chalk that one up to a bad day.
