Perry's a wonderful place to go if you live in the neighborhood. Plenty of good food and the service is excellent. A lot of the dinners come with soup or salad, dessert and coffee so you don't have to pay extra for them. When you sit down they put a plate of chick peas, coleslaw, warm bread and breadsticks for you. And the wait staff can't do enough for you. But it may not be a place to travel to from far off. Some of the food is excellent, some is OK. Also the parking lot is very narrow and has limited space. But the reason you go to Perry's is the family feeling they give you when you eat there, it feels like you're home. And you won't go away hungry. read more

I avoided Perry's for years, even though it's only a mere block away from my house. I'm not sure why, but the place just seemed...off to me. Then the Foursome closed down to move to Avenue Z, and I needed to find a new place in the interim. So I bit the bullet and went to Perry's. Prognosis after several visits? Not bad, but not great. Walking into the place, there's nobody to greet you off the bat. More than once I've stood around looking confused until I managed to flag down a random waiter, who otherwise would have completely ignored me. Getting seated is pretty speedy, but that's not so hot when you realize that not only didn't they clear away the table before you got there to sit down, but there were bread sticks all over the floor, and NO CHAIRS. Great. I'd recommend getting seated on the left side of the diner, where there are booths and stuff. Much nicer. I was surprised that they didn't have chocolate chip pancakes on the menu. EVERY Brooklyn diner I've been to so far has them. Oh well. But they DO have Lime Ricky's, which is a dying favorite. The food itself isn't terrible, but I've had better. I LOVE diners -- espcially here in New York. You can get practically ANY type of meal at any time of the day. My favorite being breakfast, whether it is 8AM, 2PM or 11PM (or any hour in between.) Breakfast at a diner is my barometer as to how good a diner really is. When I walk into a diner and plan on having breakfast, I am not looking for anything terribly elaborate -- fluffy pancakes, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside belgian wafles, and tasty egg dishes along with the routine accompanying meat and potato sides. AND a must is tasty coffee. Unfortunately, I really have not found too much saving grace for Perry's Restaurant in Brooklyn. It is an old diner / restaurant that appears to be in need of an update. Unfortunately I found that the food has a "mix" of flavors (from other things that have been on the grill I suppose), which certainly do not compliment each other. Don't get me wrong, the food is edible, but not necessarily enjoyable. Yes, it is true that I have a limited number of dishes from here (primarily breakfast), but it was not quality -- and since that is what I typically benchmark a diner's food on, then, as far as I am concerned, I don't need to try anything else. I work in the food business. I always over tip. Here I left nothing. Waiter was the most rude person I've ever dealt with in a restaurant. Took my order from behind me. Walked away before I could order a drink. Did the same thing with two other tables, so it wasn't just me. Food was awful. Ordered Chicken Marsala that tasted like it was flavored with Heinz Chicken Gravy. Place smelled like shit. Bathrooms were fairly clean, but far from spotless and in terrible need of an update. Perry's started out as one of our family's go-to delivery places. My husband liked it so much that at one point, we ordered both breakfast and dinner from them on the same day, then my husband joked about getting it again the next night. After several bad experiences with them though, we don't plan on ordering again. A few months ago, my husband ordered from Perry's when I had to work late. He waited an hour and a half without hearing anything, so he called Perry's and repeatedly got no answer. He called Grubhub and a representative called Perry's manager to ask what was going on with my husband's order. The manager hung up on him! The Grubhub representative apologized and refunded my husband's money. Tonight, we ordered from Perry's and they forgot my father-in-law's Reuben sandwich in the delivery. This has happened before with different menu items and this is the second time my father-in-law has had to wait half an hour for the delivery guy to come back with his meal. The food isn't even worth it. When we first started ordering, everything was great. They had good burgers, a nice gyro sandwich, crispy fries and onion rings, and the best potato salad I've ever had. Now, the food is never consistent. One time I had the potato salad, it had big unappealing chunks of potato with no flavor to the dressing. The potato salad I had tonight was runny and the dressing was sour-tasting. The onion rings this time had panko in the batter and the fried coating was so thick, it was almost inedible. It's a shame because it used to be so good and reliable, but it's just not anymore. read more

I'm usually too busy to stop and write reviews but feel the need to right some wrongs. The place has been here forever and always had better than average food at really reasonable prices. If you are a regular as I am, you'll see that 80 percent of their customers are there AT LEAST once or twice a day. They are ll retired and make the place theirs. They are treated like family, which they are. Service is more like family treating each other like family. No 5 star restaurant here as far as service. The waiters and bus boys for the most part are fixtures that have been there for many many years. Gus, can bring you the most complicated orders without writing anything down. They did freshen te place within the last couple of years. They have ample free parking. They have large portions that a lot of th patrons share or doggie bag. The food does not need excuses. Their seafood is always fresh. Perry takes pride in his fish. His steaks are good for diner food. It's not Ruth's Chris or Peter Lugar but you're paying less than half and gettin 3 or 4 courses to boot. I can't remember ever getting a bad meal here. This is a restaurant that looks a lot like Denny's.The waitresses are nice but yell a lot and they don't care if they yell in your ears. I was actually excited for this place considering it's very American and it's right in the Russian area of sheepshead bay. When I walk in, I feel like I'm in the middle of America. The unfortunate thing is, the food is actually not that good. I tried the gyro, and that was decent but for for that price, you can get a better gyro somewhere else. The turkey burger was awful and the fettuccini Alfredo tasted like throw up. Perry's is way overpriced for the quality of food. This restaurant is above all a great value. The portions are enormous. Dinners include: a platter with pickles, chick peas and cole slaw; a soup or salad; a main dish with a starch of your choice and a vegetable of your choice; a complimentary glass of California jug wine; a dessert. Oy vay, who can eat that much? Perry in person runs around the dining room to make sure that everyone is happy. The patrons, most of whom are card-carrying AARP members, have a great time. When the check comes, you wonder how things can possibly be that cheap. The quality/price ratio is so high that you forget about the numerator of the fraction. The food is actually OK. I always feel at home at Perry's because Perry himself is very accommodating. After returning from a trip out west we celebrated New Years Eve at Perry's and although we didn't have a reservation and only wanted light fare from the menu, Perry accommodated us. I also feel Perry's gives you the best value for your money and I am always pleased with my order. A friendly business is one that I want to enthusiastically patronize. To sum it up... Perry's has earned the distinction as my favorite diner as the food is always delicious, the service is fine & the prices are reasonable. read more

My honest review is 3.5stars This is my go to diner with my boyfriend. We usually come for breakfast food so this is what we're basing it off. Everytime my boyfriend comes he gets the steak and eggs. and EACH TIME he got it... it was different? luckily 2x it was really good 1x it was meh. I usually just get like a 2eggs overeasy with like bacon or sausage, so its really hard to mess that up. So the star were really taken off for the inconsistent food and also for service. we have a good server on the weekends its the same guy usually and hes super nice and attentive. however one time we went we had terrible service, like he didnt check up on us, he pretty much ignored our questions, when we asked about menu related things, honestly his service was just so bad we were going to walk out but we come so often we were just like its the first bad experience we`ll leave it. so overall honestly this place is a hit or miss. luckily we got more hits than misses. read more

Not the biggest fan. To their defence, the crowd in the restaurant was super rude and obnoxious... It was like every table screaming. When paying, a patron got into a fight with the cashier and it delayed us leaving and paying for no reason. Karaoke was obnoxiously loud. Food was, OK. Went in for lunch the other day, I had the Texas burger. It was a big portion and the sauce was good. The service was above average. menu has a great selection though. The atmosphere was old fashioned, the dinners were mostly senior citizens who live near by the nursing homes and look like they had been dinning there for decades, so it is actually a good sign. The only concern I had was the owner needs to fix the handrail outside, because 8 out 10 senior citizens needed to hold on to it while going up/down the stairs. This was one of the few times I've gone to Brooklyn and this is a decent restaurant for a casual meal. The food is decent. I went with my fiance a few weeks ago. He ordered a chicken parm while I ordered paella. His chicken parm was good, although there was an overabundance of cheese (even I thought it was a little too much, and I love cheese). The chicken was tender and juicy. Before I say anything about the paella, let me say that I have been disappointed with paella from many different places. I love paella, but it's somehow pretty difficult for me to find really good paella, the kind that causes a flavor explosion in your mouth. Here, the paella was decent. I ordered a seafood paella that had clams, mussels, and shrimp. The clams and mussels were cooked just right and were delicious. The shrimp was just a little overcooked. There was not enough flavor in the rice and there was too much sauce, making the entire plate a little too watery. Now that I've got the complaint about paella out of the way, I can talk about what's good. The chicken parm that my fiance had was good, although by no means the best. The portions are fairly large. The meal also included a good selection of bread and a light salad. It also included a free glass of house wine. The ambiance is very family friendly and has space for large groups. The menu includes items for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The service is very friendly and attentive. This is a good place for a casual get-together with friends or with family. If I am ever in the neighborhood again, I would certainly go back to this restaurant to try some of the other items on the menu. read more

Let me start by saying that the food is absolutely delicious. Broiled scrod was great along with what comes with it. Suggestions for improvement: Time after time there have been problems with delivery. No, the food comes on time and the delivery person is always very good. What we have here is a failure to deliver everything. I distinctly asked the person taking the order to please make sure that everything I wanted was included. Guess what? It wasn't?!There was no tartar sauce for the fish and there was no butter. As stated above, the scrod was delicious but the piece was extremely SMALL. Usually, the portion is double the size. Another great dinner on Saturday night together with 5 family members ! Restaurant was totally filled with seniors and their families for birthdays or just a fun night dining out. These are people who recognize good value for their money. The menu is a mile long, but seems weighted particularly with various fish and shrimp dishes. The dinner specials provide more food than any reasonable person could eat in a single meal, so you are expected to leave with enough food for at least one other feast at home. Food is fresh and tasty. Specials include appetizer, main dish, salad, dessert and beverage, as well as a small complimentary glass of house table wine. A kind of upscale diner in the best sense. Not gourmet, but tasty, fresh, plentiful and very good. My sliced turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and assorted veg was well prepared comfort food. Hot toasted garlic bread, half sour pickles, and cole slaw for everyone. Hard to settle on one dessert, there are so many great choices available. Overall, a fun experience that won't break the bank. This diner makes McDonald's' customer service look pleasant and competent, when you call to order a delivery the people who take the orders range from nasty and impatient to in a hurry and lack attention to detail. I order from Khouros a few blocks away the food is better, they get the order correct every time and they don't give a nasty attitude when you ask for your food a certain way, like when I say don't put the lettuce and tomato on my burger because it gets soggy and no salt on my fries they don't say "Oh my god" they do what they are supposed to do and take the order patiently. Don't waste your time the food isn't even good there's really nothing good I can say about this place. read more

I came to Perry's years ago and the food was not bad, so we returned again months later and at the end of the meal the restaurant offered us free cakes. You'd think it's a nice gesture except the cakes had visible mold on them. We didn't return for a few years until an event there (not by our choice) brought us back there. Food didn't taste right, it's just didn't taste as good, something was off and we think it's the oil/"butter" they used. I got my leftover to go anyway. After the meal we were all very thirsty and I didn't think much of it until I ate my leftover today and is now extremely thirsty (it's not because of salt). I now think eating there will have negative effects to my health. I will not eat there again. read more

I have the misfortune of living in a neighborhood where there are very few decent casual dining choices. Perry's, though, is about as low as you can get. Perry, who knows the dining business very well because he was a waiter for years, has no control over his waiters. who are predominantly Mexican men who are much more interested in following the soccer games on TV than in taking your order and getting it right. The waiters have their groupies, though, and if you are not one of them, forget about getting decent service; they will play hot potato with you because they don't want to bother waiting on people whom they don't know. The dining room is filthy and unventilated; it smells like a nursing home cafeteria. It looks like one also: the average age of diners is 75. They come for the dinner "specials" which include a free glass of the cheapest wine on the globe, cole slaw and chick peas, dried out garlic bread, appetizer, watered-down tasteless soup, and a large piece of fatty meat or fish, followed by a dessert heavy on whipped cream but short on flavor. The atmosphere is horrid: very loud and offensive. Everything is chaotic, and the busboys throw down the utensils and napkins without any care about whether they wind up on the floor or in front of you. None of the waiters or busboys make eye contact with you; they are surly beyond words. Now for the food itself: the broiled salmon is the best entree. The lamb is repulsive and always served practically raw or dark as shoe leather. Everything has lemon or dried oregano on it. The chicken noodle soup is like water with shreds of leftover chicken and carrots floating around in it. The sautéed spinach with garlic is either undercooked and tough, or soaked in olive oil and lukewarm. Yuck! God help you if you want more water or seltzer...it may never come, and when it does, half of it will wind up in your lap because the busboy is too busy watching the game on TV. Tonight I had it and told the owner, Perry, what I thought. He said, "It's because you had the new waiter." New? The guy has been waiting tables in Brooklyn for 25 years. I said I really had it and felt bad to tell him this. He said, "Sorry to hear it," then turned his back and left me standing there. Never, ever, ever again. Two hours of my life that I can never get back, and $41.25 down the drain. I gave the waiter $4 out of pity; he deserved nothing read more

This is my first time here. When my friend and I walked in, no one greeted us. A waitress was kinda rude and just said to sit anywhere but she followed us with menus. The booth we happened to stop at had a dead fly on it so we moved to another booth. We sat down and within a few minutes a waiter came to try to take our order. He didn't introduce himself and seemed to really want to take our order. We went for breakfast at 8:30am. The place is mostly senior citizens. We ordered almost everything on the menu (waffles with ice cream and strawberries, eggs, corned beef hash, sausage, bacon, home fries). I would say the food quality is ok, nothing spectacular. It's regular breakfast food. I didn't like the home fries though. They weren't as flavorful as I think it should have been and kinda soft. I think I would come back, not too sure. read more

This was our family's favorite place to go to. The portions are huge. Best prime rib. Perry's always been nice. The last three times we went there it wasn't good. I would have given Perry's 3 stars, but there were a couple things i couldn't get past....first off, the menu says "homemade" corned beef hash, which is a favorite of mine. This was out of a can, no doubt. Really disappointing. We also ordered cheeseburgers, which were good, and souvlaki, which was ok. The french fries were terrific - well done, crispy, delicious.
