The quality of service is average at best with touches of totally stupidity. After dining here for morethan fifteen years the owner has decided to run the business into the ground. This was our family's favorite place to go to. The portions are huge. Best prime rib. Perry's always been nice. The last three times we went there it wasn't good. I would have given Perry's 3 stars, but there were a couple things i couldn't get past....first off, the menu says "homemade" corned beef hash, which is a favorite of mine. This was out of a can, no doubt. Really disappointing. We also ordered cheeseburgers, which were good, and souvlaki, which was ok. The french fries were terrific - well done, crispy, delicious. This review is limited to their coffee. Since I am at the rehab center across the street, I asked someone to pick me up some REAL coffee. The coffee came in a nice big cup (at least 20 oz) and it cost a grand total of $1.50. The sugar and milk were the right balance. read more

Going to Perry's for years, now NEVER AGAIN. The last time we had a problem and Perry went crazy. He acted like a real piece of CRAP. And that is being nice. The meal that was ordered was disgusting and you were not able to eat it. And here is Perry saying there is noting wrong with the food. What a joke, and what a way to treat your customers. I've been coming here since 1995 and have never had a bad meal. My wife and I live only three blocks away and this is our go-to place for decent food at very reasonable prices. The desserts are home made and Perry offers unusual Greek specialties. The seafood is excellent and dinner has never disappointed. We've had a few "occasion" parties here and the waiters are fantastic. Just be prepared to take some food home-- Perry's portions are not small! The food is decent, as diner food goes, although I ordered a Reuben recently, and it came as an open-faced sandwich (which is not how it was pictured or described in the menu) and was very strange to eat. I live in the neighborhood and have been going to Perry's for years. Perry always greets me with a hello when he is seated at the counter. I've never had a bad meal here and Ive never had a long wait either. A lot of the diners are older people who live nearby who eat here on a regular basis. It's a shame that this is one of the few diners left in Brooklyn. Ran in for a quick bite with my family and it was overcrowded. The man at the door told us to pick from two open tables, we chose the one less dirty but they never came to pickup the old relish tray or plates. We asked for seltzer and got water with white floating things in it. The waitress took out order effortless but returned twenty minutes later telling us that the kitchen was backed up and it would be a few more minutes. Needless to say it took forty minutes for two cheeseburgers and a grilled cheese. Sorry to say I will not be visiting here again. read more

My boyfriend introduced me to the place and we always go and have dinner here He orders his usual turkey burger deluxe and i have pierogies. Mr. Perry loves everyone and always pats my boyfriend on the back and when we bring all our friends he sits us in the back where there's more room. About a month ago we took out friend here for his birthday and Mr. Perry gave us free cake and the whole staff sang happy birthday! going to Perrys restaurant(diner) is not an experience I would suggest for anyone.the food is not bad,typical diner food. there is a very wide choice and emphasis is on quantity more than quality. there are many wholesome choices,like salads, vegggies,but the emphasis is on the chopped liver,stuffed cabbage,burgers,fries,fish, chicken parm,etc. Its not expensive when you consider most people who go there take enough food home with them for another meal. this is especially important to the many seniors who frequent Perrys. But the real horror in Perrys is the men's bathroom. It is very small,with only one sit down stall.and this stall is tiny.The door opens inward,so once you squeeze yourself inside, you have to open the door inward to get out. This means you have to get your body around the door to get out. Now I witnessed a large,overweight,disabled man who was unable to get himself out of the stall. He could not get himself around the door,which opened inward and was right up against the toilet seat. then there is the parking lot,which is large but hasn't,by the looks of it,been paved in 20 years.It has potholes,and many uneven places.If you are walking with a cane,or a walker,or you are in a wheelchair,as are many of the people who go to Perrys are, you are in danger of falling down. Especially at night. the parking lot goes all the way around the building,so you must drive around it, going past the rear of the building,and making a right turn in the back to access the exit lane. Now this is not easy,since the spaces are narrow.Especially if you are driving a large SUV. the rear of the parking lot is pretty disgusting,as well, with terrible conditions.and the exit lane is a mess,with holes and uneven places. Its all so OLD and RUNDOWN,it makes you wish you never set foot on this property. Yet,people continue to go there because they don't seem to have any choice. read more

I went in late afternoon and ordered the lunch special. I started with a cup of vegetable soup which was delicious. For the main course I ordered the chicken francese over rice. For dessert I had a chocolate chip cookie which wasn't that great and a cup of coffee. The portions were as big as the dinner specials. I took half of my chicken francese home. The only difference between the dinner specials and the lunch specials is that with the lunch specials you don't get a glass of wine or an appetizer. read more

I went with my wife to Perrys yesterday for dinner.We used to be regulars at Perrys when we lived in Brooklyn however we have not been there in over 10 years.When we entered Perry surprisingly recognized us and greeted us warmly. Our waitress Jen greeted us and gave us a starter of chick pea salad and cole slaw. Both were excellent especially the chick pea salad which is usually a throwaway at other restaurants. We then ordered two complete dinners which included two stuffed cabbages as appetizers and a matzo ball and clam chowder soup. The cabbages were quite good as was the soups although my soup was a little watery.We he ordered a chicken Francaise and turkey steak a la Perry for dinner. Both were very good and flavorful.We then had two pieces of cake which were very good especially my wifes sugar free black forest cake.Service by Jen was good in fact one oif the best servers I had in memory.She was concerned about everything we ate and gave us garlic bread and offered us other suggestions for add ons.She was very friendly and very responsive to our needs for dinner., Considering the amount and quality of food offered and the price of 16 a dinner the price to value ratio here is well above average for this type of restaurant.I felt like I was at home at Perrys and they say you cannot go back home but Perry proved this is not true. So i went to this place with my dad and sister since we were passing by and looking for a place to have a meal. When we first arrived the host was not very friendly and led us to a table right under a vent... It was very cold. I ordered a deluxe veggie burger (since the vegetarian options are very limited) and was not satisfied. It was horrible, it tasted like dirt and I honestly think the ones that you can buy frozen at the supermarket are better. I tried to drown the taste with ketchup and lettuce but was unsuccessful so i only ate the fries. My sister ate a beef sirloin parm with pasta and it was basically a burger with mozzarella and the pasta wasn't great, it tasted like canned pasta sauce. My dad was the only one who enjoyed his meal which was some fried seafood combo. Then they didn't refill our water so we had 1 cup of water for an entire meal. They also took FOREVER to clear the table and when they took away my sisters plate with her salad, they also took away her fork and did not replace it so i had to give her mine since I hadn't used it. They also never cleared away our appetizers at all and it was evident that we didn't want them. The silverware was also quite dirty, the cups had water stains and smelt horrible. We went as group to try the Rumanian steak. It was tougher than shoe leather. The baked potato that came with it had a grey green color and also was in edible. We usually take home leftovers for the neighborhood stray cats but in this cats wouldn't be able to eat it. Matzoh ball soup was decent. A glass of house red wine is complementary with dinner. Just tried calling about ordering spanakopita for a potluck event. After being interrupted multiple times by a pushy employee, I was told it would cost $50 for 20 small pieces of spanakopita. Perry's is a dine/restaurant r located in Sheepshead Bay Bklyn just blocks from Avenue U. Perry is always on the premises to greet you at some point during your visit. There is no real bar to sit at but drinks can be brought to your table. The food portions are huge and definitely fair to good pricing. I don't live in Bklyn anymore but travel here for one main thing: The lobster special for dinner. It cannot be beat. And they always bring out bread, coleslaw, chickpeas, and pickles prior to any dinner. The people here are elderly. I am young and very few my age come and i'm in my 30's. If you don't mind the nursing home environment, the food and price are very good and I drive to Brooklyn for it. Those who complain, will complain about anything. read more

I also went to Perry's after the Foursome closed down, and, unlike the other reviewers, find it one of the best diners I've visted. This is an old-fashioned diner. You do not go here for the ambience. The food is cheap and decently cooked. The chicken cutlets are real pieces of chicken, not the processed stuff you find in most diners. The tomato sauce tastes as though it actually were made from tomatoes. I've almost always been greeted when I come in, but they can be very busy, and they don't waste money on a hostess. The baking here is good. Every time, against my better judgment, when I order dessert in a diner, I find it inedible. Here, it is good. The whipped cream in the strawberry shortcake tastes good, unlike the gluey conconction offered by every diner I've ever visited. First of all....what kind of a moron would go to a diner....ANY diner and order a pasta dish or Italian sauce and expect it to be cooked to a perfect AL Dente with an authentic Sicilian flair?! Some of these negative reviews really piss me off. The place is not Le Cirque but its fine for a neighborhood locale. I have many many patients who used to swear by this place. They still do in fact. Perry has always been accommodating and the wait staff is friendly and cordial. The food is of a diner fare so you know what....THINK before you order and critique.
