Ordered: Lessy's Lobster Roll (MP ~$38): fresh shucked lobster butter poached on grilled brioche roll w Old Bay French Fries and Artisan Greens Arnold Palmer (~$5): half iced tea & half lemonade Aya's take: First time in Montauk and it's only right to get fresh seafood. We stopped at Wave Crave which is an unassuming truck serving an award-winning lobster roll so we had to try it. Lessy's Lobster Roll was some of the most tender, succulent, and richly buttery lobster I've had. The grilled brioche roll was perfect for this since it was pillowy, toasted, and soaked up a lot of the butter. The Old Bay French Fries were great and the Artisan Greens was a nice add-on to complete the meal. We also got the Arnold Palmer which is refreshing! We have always loved Wave crave hot lobster roll. The cold lobster roll introduced this season is equally delicious. But today was a special fresh locally-caught tuna sandwich: seared, sesame crusted tuna with mango salsa on a toasted brioche bun, with a salad on the side. Simply put, I think it's the best tuna sandwich I have ever had. It even looked so good. I had to take a picture. Highly recommend whatever Steve at Wave crave puts on the menu! read more

I was staying at the Wavecrest hotel looking for a place to have lunch and I saw the great reviews that Wave Crave had. I had seen the food truck before but I'm not a food truck type of girl. I decided to give it a cry anyway since it was right there. I am so glad I did. We had the lobster roll and it was amazing but pricey. The couple there were really nice. Run to Wave Crave at WAVE CREST ON Old Montauk Highway (near Gurneys) for your BESTEST Montauk LOBSTER ROLL Forget the others who use frozen Lobster meat. This is made fresh everyday. The fresh Brioche Roll is painted with a delicious homemade Aioli sauce. The side of shoe string fries and salad compliment the sandwich to a tee. Pretty good egg sandwich called the " Kevin" and a great location on the beach . Can't beat the view. There are benches located just to the left of the truck . Parking is in a private resort but the guard let us park to purchase breakfast . Wasn't much of a wait about 15 min to get everything completed. read more

Had the please to enjoy this little gem for lunch and then again the next morning for breakfast. By far the best a lobster roll (butter pouched) I've had. Breakfast wrap was amazing and kids said 'best chocolate chip pancakes'. Owner is a complete charismatic gentleman! If you're at the beach you can call your order in and he has it ready for you with a smile. So glad we found this! I can't stop raving about it. Hope he there next year! I dont usually write reviews but my experience today deserves one. One of the reasons I stay at Wavecrest is because of Wave Crave. My first visit was last year & I was blown a away by the food from this truck. Never mind the exclusive menu & the breakfast being OUTSTANDING, THE LOBSTER ROLL is the BEST in Montauk, trust me, we had them all, NOTHING compared!! And you can't beat the price!! I thought about it ALL year & referred many people to check them out.. I was planning to take a day trip on 11/9 for chowder fest and when I found out the food truck would be closed that day, I booked a room because he'd be open the next day, Columbus Day, his last day of the season, I literally got the last Lobster roll of the season & Steve went above & beyond to make it extra special for me. Sriracha Steve kills the game in this food truck. $8.50 for a breakfast sandwich might be pricey even for Montauk but it is by far the best breakfast sandwich in town. His breakfast wraps are superb and everything on them is so tasty. Just tried the lobster roll earlier this week and it is a must. So tender,juicy and on the perfect brioche bun. The old bay Aioli makes this lobster roll one of a kind on the island. Steve is such a character and he makes the food truck environment come to life. Keep it up Wave Crave! read more

Came here for the first time today by recommendation from someone in my family. SO GOOD. I got the Nancy egg wrap and it was delicious. My mom and sister got French toast which was huge and looked and smelled amazing. I will definitely be getting that next time. The food is out of this world! The fresh tuna Sandwich is something out of a 5 star sea food restaurant! The guys are so nice and the food comes out quick. We loved their smoothies, french toast, pancakes (both with fruit, both gorgously presented), and above all their lobster rolls. This is not your hot dog food truck. The drinks were obviously undrinkable but served anyway. The drinks did not melt by the time we left. Maybe the food would be good. Wrong again. The lobster in the lobster pasta was tough. My husband and I checked out the Wave Crave food truck because we met Steve and Colleen the couple who run it. The breakfasts are SO exceptional we have driven from Sag Harbor to have the pancakes. The lobster rolls, fish sandwiches, hamburger and fries are all great, reasonably priced and made to order. They are accommodating, funny and make great food. We just stayed at the Wave Crest for my birthday and had them do a lobster bake for 6 friends - it was perfect. You don't have to stay at Wave Crest to eat at the Wave Crave - just drive on down from Old Montauk Highway, park and get the order to go - if there's no parking room there just drive to the nearby "overlook" public parking spot and have lunch with an ocean view. read more

We stayed at the Wavecrest this yr 7/30 to 8/3. The Wave Crave was exactly what they needed. Not only are the husband wife duo friendly but make you feel welcome to their kitchen. I took Colleen up on her challenge of the best Philly Cheesesteak blew Pat's and Geno's away, who knew best one Ive ever had is in Montauk!!!! Next up was my wives Lobster Roll on 8/3. Not only was she was surprised on how fresh it was but the amount and the side salad, Thanks Steve. Mix in a few breakfast sandwiches and life is good...Can't say enough about their food, reasonable and well worth it....Good Luck to you both and hopefully we will see you their for a very long time ....... I keep coming back, some days for breakfast and some for lunch. It is my favorite breakfast spot in Montauk. Today I had the Very Berry Pancakes which were served with powdered sugar and heaps of fresh berries along with a cup of hot coffee. A great way to start the day while sitting at a table above the dunes looking at the ocean. Lunch is a big decision but their lobster roll is so delish it calls to me. So glad we found this spot! read more

Wow!! What a lunch I had on the beautiful beach from the Wave Crave Food Truck!! I highly suggest getting the philly cheese steak! Melts in your mouth!! The staff were so friendly and welcoming and really made my first time in Montauk enjoyable. read more

It was less than a 10-minute drive from where we were staying, and going there was the best decision! They were offering two lobster rolls for $41, and they were worth every penny. Each roll was generously filled with large chunks of fresh lobster, a little diced celery, and just the right amount of mayo. They weren't overly dressed or packed with unnecessary fillers--the lobster was definitely the star. One roll filled me up, so I packed the second one in a cooler and brought it home to my dad in Nassau County. He loved it and gave it a 5/5 too! They also sell baked goods, and the chocolate chip cookies were delicious. Just keep in mind that there is no seating and you cannot eat on the premises because it's an active driveway. Everything is to go, but the beach is only a short drive away and makes the perfect place to enjoy your food. If you're looking for fresh local seafood, generous lobster rolls, and a no-frills hidden gem, Bennett Shellfish is absolutely worth the visit!
