I stopped in on a Friday evening not knowing much about the place. A friend advised she had never eaten here, but heard it was good. I know, risky business! Upon walking in I loved the vibe. It's a very classic restaurant. The staff was friendly and helps me make a decision. I opted for the salmon kabobs. I placed my to go order and paid for my order at the bar. I was advised that it would take about 15-20 minutes to prepare. As such. I opted to wait outside on the bench at the entrance. I feel like it took them much longer than 20 minutes, but I can't confirm this because I am not certain of what time I placed the order. However, I must say it was worth the wait. The food was fresh, and there was a ton of it! I honestly ate off it for 3 servings! The salmon kabobs came with rice. Roasted veggies, a rendition of a side salad, and the freshest naan! The salmon was cooked to perfection. It was slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The veggies were to die for. If you are a big rice eater you will love the amount they serve here. Sandy Springs seems to be the center of outstanding Persian cuisine. We visited Persepolis for an early dinner recently. Our server was courteous and prompt with our drinks and appetizers (including fresh pita bread) After a short period of time, our meals arrived. The food is always prepared to the perfect temperature and is consistently delicious. I appreciate the Gormeh Sabzi stew and the ground beef shishka bob skewers known as kubideh. All the portions are generous. No one left hungry, and we all had plenty of food leftover for the next day's lunch. We will be returning soon. read more

My boss took me here. He loves Persian food. I had zero expectations. The food, the wine, and the drinks were so good, I was pleasantly surprised. It was empty considering we went 12pm for lunch, so I'd recommend here for authentic Persian food. I will go back to try another dish. They only thing I didn't like was the baklava. There is an old man in there that greets you but does it sitting down from across the restaurant and does not bother to get up and ask how may I help. The ambiance was nice for where it is located looked very clean. If I was in the area and was absolutely craving Persian food I might stop in again. Stumbled upon this place via Yelp a few months back. The tahdig appetizer piqued my interest the most (I'd never had it), but when I called to place an order midday I was told this dish was only available close to closing. Note: Though it doesn't say so on the menu, Tahdig is only offered towards the end of the night, and can only be served under certain circumstances so it's not commonly available. Fueled even more by the fact I had to wait, I kept this dish in my mind, and called to try and order it at least twice a week for at least a month weeknight dinners. Each time I was told they didn't have the dish that day. Finally, on like my eight time calling, I was informed that the reason it isn't available often, is because there is a delicate balance between perfect and burned at the bottom , and if it is burned then they choose not to sell it as to not turn off customers. Which I understood, and again it fueled my desire for it more. Then finally, one glorious night I called and they had it! I eagerly ordered it for to go/pickup, adding a fish kabob in case the appetizer wasn't able to fill me. The good news is, the appetizer took up a full to go box, so it was more than enough. And the meat/stew was moist and flavorful. The bad is, my understanding of Tahdig was that most of the rice was soft and light, with a thin crispy layer on top--however the plate I received was nothing but a hard layer of tough, chewy rice, not at all softened by the stew. It actually looked like they were cooked separately and the stew topped the crisped rice instead if it all being cooked together like I was led to believe. While flavorful, the rice was so tough to chew that overall the dish was a let down from the months if waiting I ensured to try it. However, the salmon in the fish plate was blackened and flavorful, as were the veggies that came with it. The basmati beneath the fish was much more the consistency I expected the non crispy layer of Tahdig to be, although at that point I was over rice. The plate also came with a humongous piece of pita--bigger that the too and bottom of a to go container. Three stars because of the pent up anticipation and letdown of the Tahdig. BUT because everything else was good, I'll likely try here again for an in person experience where I can ask questions about what the Tahdig should look/taste like, before I order it again. read more

I have never ever been in a restaurant where the manager/server tells a small group of ladies that we're ordering too much butter as it is very expensive. We come there quite often & frankly this restaurant has lost our business. We live in a 55 & over community & we are telling everyone not to go there any longer. As it was, there was only about 3 other small parties there last night. There are many Persian places to choose from in Atlanta. What makes this place special is the attentive service and intimate atmosphere. (I love Rumi's too, but it always feels so crowded and loud.) We all enjoyed the food, especially our appetizers- huge quantity of fresh baked flatbread accompanied the eggplant dip and hummus we ordered along with a lovely plate of fresh herbs/feta/nuts. What you need to know: Solid kabobs but an OVERLOAD of rice. Dolmeh is way too sweet - overbearingly so. After watching a show about Persian food, we had a craving, so ordered via UberEats. Food: We ordered the Kubideh Kabob, the Lamb Kabob, and an order of Dolmeh. The kubideh kabob was just ok. It satisfies a craving, but was under seasoned for me. The lamb kabob however was HEAVEN! The lamb was extremely juicy, flavorful, and very very tender. The drawback from both of these is they came with about 3lbs worth of rice and one grilled tomato. Now the tomato was great, but the rice was just a waste. I love saffron rice as much as the next person, but I'd gladly sacrifice most of the rice they give for a better side dish like a salad that would give a different flavor and component to the dish. The dolmeh was way too sweet - almost like candy. Not what I expected and would not recommend. Price: Paid $73 for two kabob plates and the dolmeh. Extremely overpriced for what you get. Overall, the kabobs were solid but wayyyy overpriced. The kubideh was under seasoned, but the lamb kabobs were absolutely DIVINE. Probably won't order from here again due to price, but it's solid. Would gladly sacrifice 2/3rd's of the rice for a different side to make the plate more diverse. read more

I used to love going to this place. The food is great and so are the people there too. However, my most recent experience has led me to believe otherwise. We went there over the weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday. I asked the server to keep a cake for us so he could bring it around towards the end; he told me there's a charge of $15. I was shocked! I asked him if there's a charge If he didn't bring it and I just put the cake on the table; he said the same $15. Then, when I was paying the bill I noticed we were charged twice for a soda. Upon asking him, I was told because I took a few sips of my wife's soda, he charged me twice. The guy said it was policy. I mean how ridiculous was this!? Persepolis is the OG Persian restaurant in the Atlanta area and it's still a classic. I have been here countless times for family gatherings, date nights, etc. The restaurant is spacious and perfect for large groups and family events. The food is absolutely delicious! I quite enjoyed the food here. Went on a Saturday afternoon and we were the only customers dining in. A couple of customers came to pick up orders during the time we were eating. When we arrived they were cleaning up the buffet area. It seems like they have buffet hours and prices that end at a certain time. It is a nicely set up restaurant on the inside, nice decor, spacious and the food was tasty and had great portion sizes. Private parking lot and the restaurant itself can be a little easy to miss because of the location. Once you turn in you have to go to the end of the parking lot and the entrance is there as well. Pretty good place! We always go to Rumi's for Persian food but decided to try this place out. We ordered the naan, chicken barg, and kubideh kabob. The portions are definitely very big, which was good because the entrees were on the pricey end. The naan was huge! It was pretty good. Next time, I'll have to get hummus or some other dip to go with it. Both of our entrees came, still hot, with plenty of seasoned saffron basmati rice and a grilled tomato. My chicken barg was simply amazing! I was worried it would be over cooked or too dry as I've had some disappointing experiences with chicken kabobs, but this was perfect. It was well seasoned, moist, and not too salty. My bf got the beef kubideh kabob and he thought it was really good as well. He said he prefers the one at Rumi but this was still a great alternative! My buddy and I were chatting about the Persian food scene and he recommended Persepolis and one other place. But, he did pinpoint this place a goto if I wanted to try a variety of things since they have a buffet. Anyways, made my pilgrimage and checked it out. As promised, they have a buffet. A couple options on the rice. 3 different choices of meat. A couple of bean based dishes. A vegetarian bar with boiled eggs, salad, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. they also have a hot tomato dish. I tried all of the meats, both rice, the hot tomatoe dish, and the bread they brought to the table. Not bad, not bad at all. Darn right good. I really LOVED the steak(?) and the other meat. The chicken was not my favorite. I loaded up on the other meat but only got the chicken once. Their hot tomato dish was pretty good too. The saffron rice was delicious. But man...the meat. So good. The dessert wasn't all that. Underwhelming. Grapes were good tho. Nice, fat, and juicy. Ok end to an otherwise good meal. What bothered me, however, was that I don't feel like the price reflected what I got. As of March 10, 2018, the weekend buffet was $21 and change after(or before) tax. Steep. They were able to accommodate us easily and we were practically the first ones so the buffet was well-stacked. The food was good, but expensive for lunch. Lunch buffet is $16 + tip so excited to spend $20 on lunch with tip and tax. Ouch. I was with coworkers so I didn't want to take too many pictures but I did snag one of the food on my plate. They have a cold side and a hot side and a few desserts in a case between the two. At least I think they were desserts. Nothing is labeled so I have no idea. They'll tell you what each item is but I didn't want to ask for all of them, just a few. Cold side had vegetarian dolmas, hummus, baba ghanoush(so), spinach dip, cucumber dip, salad, some kind of herb, tomatoes.. Hot side had VERY lemon chicken, white rice, rice with some kind of herb in it, kofta (looks like kofta), another beef, 2 stews.. They bring fresh bread to the table to dip In the sauces, also.
