Nothing about my first time to the new Rumi's was positive. For a 9 o'clock reservation we didn't get seated until well after ten o'clock. While we waited, we sat at the bar. I ordered a simple Bombay martini and one of the specialty cocktails for my wife. The bartender made my martini in a shaker and I remember hearing him asking someone else to stir it for him. For the next ten minutes or more, the bartender proceeded to make drinks for the waiters, I remember him spilling out two drinks and remaking them while my martini continued diluting in the melting Ice. Ten minutes or more later, he pours my martini into more of a champagne coup glass than a martini glass, and I waited another five minutes or more for my wife to get her drink. When I tasted the upmartini, It tasted so diluted, just bad, almost commical to me. I just laughed to myself because i've tended bar for a living and that was about the worst martini i've ever had in my life. Either Rumi is watering down his booze or the ice melted so much that there was barely a gin taste in the glass. I think their gig is rather than give you a real martini level pour they dilute you with so much melted Ice that you think you're getting a full pour martini, when, in fact, what you're getting is half gin and half melted ice. And believe ME, you are charged as though it was a real martini. The place was pretty busy, so a lot of people must not have a clue... or just like busy places. If everybody says, this is such a great place, I guess it's gotta be. Unfortunately, that's just Atlanta-if it's popular everyone just assumes it's good or pretends it is. I don't do well with pretend. Next after being seated at the table, i tried to order wine least expensive wines (so overpriced)-they were out of all of the lower-end overpriced wines I tried to order. It just bugs me to overpay so much for bottles of table wine. They're barely twenty dollars charging, 60-80 for them. But of course, ten minutes after I ordered the wine, this happened twice, the waiter told me they were out of the ones i was trying to order ( everyone must have had the same idea). Oh well. Right before the table was served the main course, the waiter and manager came to tell me that they had run out of the dish I ordered. I ended up replacing it with their duck dish that I had never heard of before but what the hell I'll try it (maybe I deserve it, because I remember my father always told me you never ordered duck in a strange restaurant you don't know) Everyone else at the table of 8 were served their meals ten minutes before my plate arrived. i'm like, please go ahead and start without me. Then, the duck arrives. I mean, if you're such a Rumi's, fan, try the duck and tell me what you think. First of all, it was lukewarm for something that apparently had just been made. The lukewarm duck comes 'in" this purple sauce, I mean, it wasn't even swimming in the purple sauce-It was submerged in the purple sauce. The waiter, of course, later brought me the wrong type of rice than the one i oredered..That's okay they brought me a new one right away. I was really starving at the time, but if I hadn't been, I don't think I would have eaten any of the duck. Being submerged in a kind of a sickening, putple sweet sauce it just wasn't appetizing at all. Challenge: if you're a big Rumi's fan, go ahead and please try the duck, but you have to try it like I did- lukewarm temptation. Then tell me if you remain an unconditionalRumi's fan. The bread is delicious though. To their credit when I tried to order 2 glasses of red wine after my meal was served, they did give us the vin de table for free. I returned to Yalda for brunch after a really enjoyable dinner here about a year ago, and I was expecting a similar level of care. This visit was a different story. The space is still striking. The decor is beautiful, layered, and clearly intentional. There was a live DJ on Sunday playing light, upbeat music that added a nice energy without being distracting. On paper, it had all the makings of a great brunch. In practice, it felt a bit off from the start. The hostess was not particularly warm, which is noticeable when you walk into a place that is otherwise completely empty at 11:30 a.m. on a Sunday. That alone gave me pause. Upon arriving at my table I noticed that the seating, upholstered in a light velvet, was visibly worn and stained across the board. It is a material that looks lovely in theory but tells on you quickly if not maintained. Mine certainly did. My appetizer plate also had old crusted food stuck on it, which I had to send back immediately. Not an ideal opening. I ordered an Istanbul Board-a mix of cheeses, fruit, olives, and spreads like cherry and honeycomb. It was fine, but when I asked about the cheeses, no one could identify them. Not the server, not the kitchen. I was told they were essentially from a mixed box and could not be distinguished. That takes some of the experience out of what is meant to feel curated. For my main, I ordered a beef sausage and potato hash. It arrived heavy, oily, and lacking in flavor. The potatoes were soft to the point of being mushy, and the overall texture leaned more toward something that had been sitting than something freshly prepared. I gave it a fair try and then quietly moved on. The one standout was the pomegranate fizz. Bright, refreshing, and exactly what I wanted it to be. I would return for that alone, just not attached to this particular meal. This place lived up to expectations. I had several friends including Persian friends recommend this place. Initially I was skeptical thinking nothing can beat other restaurants in town like Rumi's, Delbar or Zafron. I was in for a surprise! I came here for my birthday and my friend and I ordered drinks that just blew our minds. The first one I got was Jigar Tala which was made up of saffron, cardomom and vodka. The saffron really came through which tells you this place uses quality ingredients and they make their syrups and and infused liquors in house. The second one, my favorite drink was Mitra's Habibi which is made up of Sumac syrup, gin, saffron bitters. I wanted to take this drink home with me and or learn to make it myself. I also got vegetable soup which was made up of tomato and red pepper broth and vegetable simmered in saffron and few other spices. If I can replicate a portion of the dishes or drinks at home; it would be amazing! Locals each have their favorite, and since I was dining with a one such local whose favorite is this particular branch of Yalda, we came here for a weekday lunch. The vibe is pretty luxe/formal, which actually felt a bit off for a casual lunch, but obviously, that's nothing to fault the restaurant for. I personally wasn't feeling the best the night of our visit but it was my loved ones birthday and we already had Yalda on our itinerary for weeks so I went anyways. I had absolutely no appetite but we ordered a few things to share thinking I'd just nibble so I could participate in the celebration.. everything that hit the table was so good it woke my appetite right up out of its slumber. We ordered Hummus and Chicken wings as our starters. That Hummus was so smooth and creamy, the pita bread were soft and buttery. The chicken wings rubbed with Harissa were so flavorful and although I prefer a crispier wing they were still very good. For Mains we ordered Salmon and Beef Shish Kebabs. I can't speak too much on that beef because it was just ok, but that SALMON, baby, GET THAT. I am dairy free so we opted for no butter and I kid you not I didn't feel like anything was missing. I wasn't able to eat the sides because I was told they were made with butter and didn't wanna compromise the meal but that salmon was on point. Would love to go back for that hummus and salmon again. Additionally the staff were kind enough to let us utilize the top floor for a little photoshoot for the birthday girl since it was close to closing. Yalda is such a beautiful location and perfect for date nights, girls nights, company dinners, and celebrations.. we truly had a wonderful time. Located in Aria Village, valet parking is available or you can self-park for free in the garage. The restaurant was appropriately crowded on a Thursday night. The weather was unseasonably warm and so the patio was nearly full. The patio is sizeable and covered, with comfortable seating and beautiful greenery. YALL NEED TO HEAD TO YALDA | perfect for a girls night out, the girls gathered at Yalda for the much needed catch up sesh! The restaurant interior is gorgeous - definitely one of the most insta-worthy restaurants in Sandy Springs, by far. Our table had perfect lighting streaming in during golden hour. First off: cocktails. My fave on the menu is the Mitra's Habibi. And it's not just a pretty pink drink, it's creamy and tasty - and I'm a sucker for a gin cocktail. Almost everything we ordered was delicious - shared the hummus (PRO TIP: add the lamb shawarma, you won't be sorry and you will only regret it if you don't!) and the wings (AN ABSOLUTE MUST, especially with the harissa aioli). I wasn't a huge fan of the bademjoon torsh - the kashk bademjoon is much better (both are eggplant dishes, but the former dish was cold and texture was unappetizing). And even though I was stuffed, I ordered the chinjeh, which was a hearty, meaty entree I mostly took home for lunch the next day. Our service, on the other hand, was a bit lacking. She started off ok, but as the night went on, she would take our dishes without asking if we were done and never refilled our waters the entire time. I'm assuming that since it's been a while since our visit, she is no longer working there, because it seemed like she had no enthusiasm to serve us at all. We had an enjoyable dinner last night at Yalda's original location in Sandy Springs. The food and drink were good. Delbar, Rumi's Kitchen, and Yalda are the top three restaurants that come to mind for me for best Persian and Middle Eastern sit-down food in metro Atlanta. My wife and I had dinner at the West Midtown location four months ago (June 2025). We thought the food there was better, for what it's worth. This Sandy Springs location opened on December 27, 2022 in the Aria Village mixed-use development. Food Terminal also has a location here. The restaurant has valet parking or you can self-park for free in the Aria Village garage. There are garage entrances on both Aria Blvd (underneath La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant) and Aria Village Dr. This place is popular. Book reservations using Resy. At the time of writing this review: (1) Yalda is on Seated with 10% rewards. (2) American Express Platinum Card members get up to $100 in statement credits each quarter with Resy. The spreads were fantastic. They're some of the best things about Yalda. In general, the spreads have an extra level of quality and sophistication to them compared to the average Middle Eastern sit-down restaurant. I like the savory flavor and different textures of the Kashk Bademjoon. If you want to try something different, I suggest the Za'atar Labneh with Pickled Mushroom. But even simpler spreads like the Mirza Ghasemi and Hummus were excellent. The Chilean Seabass was terrific. The fish was rich, meaty, and flavorful with a yummy green saffron sauce poured on top. I think we received a full serving of the Beet Salad as a "side." We had this same salad at the West Midtown location and were not disappointed here. The salad was fresh with thick, refreshing slices of multi-colored beets. The Chicken Barg wasn't bad and a relatively healthy choice. The Sour Cherry Tahdig Rice (Albaloo Polo) was our favorite from the West Midtown location that we ordered again here. It's an addictive rice dish that's served with a crispy caramelized top. I thought the scorched rice bits were a bit too hard and crunchy (West Midtown did it better), but the dish was still delectable. If there's only one thing I'd recommend at Yalda, it's this. It's like the Persian version of Korean dolsot bibimbap or Vietnamese cơm cháy. Service was great. Our server was Brendan. He was friendly, attentive, and helpful. First off! I personally prefer Delbar to this establishment. The food is just better at Delbar. We went here last night for dinner and had a lovely time. Our waiter Haru was very courteous and efficient. We tried Soltani kabab (switched to dill rice), and veggie kabab with saffron rice. Dill rice was supposed to have fava beans but I didn't find any. It was blah. Beef kababs were well seasoned and made. Veggie kababs were also good. We also ordered 2 drinks - a glass of red wine and a cocktail (Hafez's last word) and Zataar fries. Drinks were delicious and fries under seasoned. Ambience was nice and the restaurant was well decorated. Service from being greeted till check was good. One of the best Persian & Middle Eastern restaurants I have been to. All 5-Stars for the food, service and ambience. General parking is available next to La Parilla restaurant plus valet is available as well. Reservation is preferred as it's very popular and mostly full but you can take a chance if not a real planner. Truly upscale and fancy place to have a nice date night or celebrating a milestone. They offer pitas and a fresh plate of green olives, walnuts, fresh block of feta cheese, fresh mint and rosemary sprigs. Very refreshing and a good start. We ordered lamb logmeh and chicken sheesh kabob. Both the quality and quantity of food was awesome. The meat was grilled to perfection and very flavorful. Ordered Zhoug sauce - it was priced separately but really good combination. Both of us were stuffed so much but since it was far, we asked to pack Lamb logmeh and chicken kabob. The difference of sheesh kabob vs kabob is roasted vegetables are included in the first one making it a great choice. While packed food tasted equally delectable and great next day, the only thing I got disappointed with was the quantity of chicken kabob. After eating there and getting the same dish packed just without veggies, I could visibly see the difference in the quantity. I still gave the 5 star rating for the review since this could have been a small mistake, an exception. The place was noisy since jam packed but whole ambience and food quality was unbeatable. We've been coming to Yalda about twice a month, and it never disappoints. This visit was excellent from start to finish. I had the Bath Kabob with Shirazi rice, and my wife enjoyed the Chicken Kabob with lentils and raisins rice. Both dishes were flavorful, perfectly prepared, and generously portioned. My dad ordered the beef and my mom ordered the fish. They both really enjoyed their meals and we were all so full by the end of dinner. Our server was very nice and the manager also came by to check on us, I love that they want to make sure you are having a great experience at their restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and more of a dressier place than casual. They also gave me a birthday dessert as well, which was really nice. Such a lovely restaurant with friendly and great service. Great for dates but also family friendly it seems. Came by for a Saturday lunch at 12 at opening and within 30 minutes the restaurant became pretty filled. It was our anniversary and they offered us complimentary champagne. Our server Haru was patient, brought in a bit of humor, and happy to answer our questions. We ended up ordering the mirza ghazemi (eggplant tomato spread), beef shish kabob, and shirazi salad. Everything was soooo delicious and flavorful. We were super impressed with how tender the beef was, best kabob we've ever had! The salad was a refreshing contrast and spread went great with naan. In the middle of our meal what looked like the manager came to wish us a happy anni and checked in on the food. It was really nice of him to swing by. For the size of the portions and quality, prices are actually really reasonable. If you've ever been to Rumis, Yalda is similar but a bit cheaper. Why 3 stars? I've been numerous times but most recently I brought my mother on her birthday. They asked any special occasions - said yes it's her birthday and the server said happy birthday then brought out a surprise cake slice during dessert for her. Thought that was very nice... until I got the bill and realized they charged me for it. Why on earth would a restaurant charge you for something you didn't order? Felt sleazy of them. This was my first time at Yalda. The ambience is nice although it's a little loud in the indoor dining space. It was a little off-putting getting sat a a table where the server was talking to the table directly next to the table we were sat at; she was resting against the table and her buttocks was touching/resting in the table for a few minutes. The food was cocktail and the food was really good. I thought the service was attentive. Yalda has great food, but the space, unfortunately, kills the vibe. The first floor is hot (summer is definitely not an option, the A/C just doesn't cut it), and you leave smelling like the food. Do I like the food? Absolutely, it's one of my favorite cuisines. Do I cringe a little when someone suggests going there? Also yes, it's just not a comfortable dining experience. If you want equally good food with a much better atmosphere, Delbar and Rumi's both deliver, same great flavors, but the overall experience slays. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at yelda in Sandy Springs. I will say parking was a little bit difficult. They do have valet as an option but it is small and shared with quite a few businesses around in this little center. I really like the ambience here. It was cozy but gave the cultural aspects that I was looking for and a really nice evening environment. I have been to quite a few Middle Eastern restaurants in Atlanta and this one exceeded expectations. We had the hummus and the beet salad as starters. I absolutely loved the beet salad. It was one of the best beet salads I've ever had and we'll get it every time I come back. For the mains, we got the the sea bass. It was extremely tender and soaked of all the flavor. It was absolutely incredible. I love sea bass in general and this dish was outstanding. We also got one of the beef kabob dishes and that was excellent as well. I like how they have already paired the rice with the meat of choice so I didn't have to think about that. We also got the saffron ice cream which was yummy. I'm a sucker for saffron rosewater pistachio and ice cream all together and it's really hard to find this flavor, so I was super excited when I saw it on the dessert menu. Came for dinner with reservations! They sat us at a nice round table in the middle. The ambiance of this place was very nice! It was beautifully decorated. The parking situation was a little difficult . The garage parking was so full and I did not want to valet my car when I'm steps away from the restaurant itself. I didn't think this venue needed valet parking. We started off with the hummus. It was so creamy and good! Very flavorful and the perfect pairing for the warm and fluffy bread. We ordered the koobideh, chicken kabob and salmon. We also got the zaatar fries. We were recommend the crispy rice to go alongside our meats. Starting strong with the koobideh, so juicy and tender and flavorful. Definitely my favorite! The salmon was grilled so well too, very flavorful and not dry. I personally felt the chicken was a little too dry and not as flavorful as the other two. I enjoyed the rice as well, good flavor and loved the crispy top that was recommended. We also got several drinks, I would not really recommend the non spirit drinks as they were just as expensive as the ones with alcohol. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we got a free dessert as well. I would say I really enjoyed the place but the service from our server was lacking just a little. She did not really come to check on us and took us getting her attention to get our food ordered. She also did not grab our menus after taking the order. And after dropping off the dessert we were hoping to get our picture taken but she disappeared right after. Luckily they seem to have a great manager (?) who was walking around and checking on the tables. He kept refilling our waters and noticed our menus still on the table and came to get them. Yalda will not disappoint! I went there last Wednesday to celebrate a special occasion! I came a few minutes late, but they were very accommodating. I was greeted by the wonderful hostesses, and I was congratulated on my special occasion. Menu has wonderful options! If you don't drink, that's ok! They have wonderful mocktails. I ordered this blueberry lavender mocktail, and it didn't disappoint! I ordered the Soltani Kabob with Lubia Polo Tahdig. After I asked for my food to be packed, my awesome server served me some warm tea. She even brought a tea pot to make sure I would have a refill when it was needed. Extremely disappointing experience worst visit yet I've been to this restaurant multiple times before, which is exactly why this experience was so frustrating. This was easily the worst service I've ever received here and honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had anywhere. I made a 9:00 PM reservation through RESY and arrived at 9:03 PM. We were greeted and initially offered an indoor table, but we requested patio seating and were seated around 9:10 PM. Immediately after sitting down, we were told the bar would close at 9:15 PM and the kitchen at 9:30 PM, giving us essentially no time to even look at the menu, let alone enjoy a proper dinner. At that point, I asked a very simple question: Why offer reservation slots at 9:00 and even 9:15 PM if guests are not actually given time to order and enjoy their experience? The response was that they could make an "exception" if we ordered immediately. That alone did not make sense. It should not be an exception when the restaurant itself approved the reservation time. The manager came over and said they could keep the kitchen open until 9:45 PM as an "exception," which again felt completely contradictory. We were not walk-ins. We had a confirmed reservation. On top of that, the manager's appearance and overall handling of the situation felt very underwhelming for a restaurant of this level. What made it even more frustrating was that the patio was still full. Other tables were actively dining, ordering drinks, and even getting desserts, while we were being rushed and treated like we needed to leave immediately. It just did not add up. We ended up ordering only drinks. As soon as our drinks were delivered, the "server" immediately dropped the check with no explanation, no courtesy, and no effort to make us feel welcome. It honestly felt like the "server" was trying to push us out from the moment we sat down. There was no offer for desserts, no follow-up, nothing, despite other tables clearly being offered those same options. When my wife asked for a second drink, the "server" once again said it would be an "exception." When the check was dropped again, it genuinely felt like the "server" just threw it onto the table. No acknowledgment, no professionalism, no basic hospitality. I intentionally did not put my card down right away, and the "server" came back, said nothing, grabbed the check, realized there was no payment, and then returned and dropped it again the exact same way. It clearly showed the lack of care and respect. To make matters worse, while we were still seated, the "server" began clearing items from our table with visible attitude, avoided eye contact, and made no effort whatsoever to provide even basic service. At no point did the "server" check on us or ask if we needed anything else. In the end, we had a couple of drinks and a soda, that is it, from what was supposed to be a full dining experience. What is most disappointing is that this was our fifth time here and it completely changed our perception of the place. The service, especially from the "server", was unacceptable for a restaurant of this level. The service was so poor that we ended up going to Waffle House afterward just to eat, where we were honestly treated far better. That alone says everything. This experience really made me think twice about ever coming back. After seeing other reviews like the most recent one in google, it is clear this is not an isolated issue. It seems like the overall quality of the restaurant is going downhill, and the way staff are handling guests is making the experience feel unwelcoming rather than enjoyable. read more
