Nice group, but an operationally passive, unproactive business exhibiting lacking of execution and attention to detail. Now here is the story of my $16K water heater & "heat pump" replacement. 1) Water heater was mis-measured and they brought over the wrong size unit causing a 1-2 week delay. 2) HVAC heat pump unit installed after an 8-week wait time (supply availability). The installation team hastily and rudely departed my condo after taking my 15K payment WITHOUT INSTALLING THE THERMOSTAT. So, on DAY 1 the AC didn't work in the middle of August. 3) Two days ago (November 7th 2024), 3 months after the HVAC unit was installed, we turn on the heat and it DOES NOT WORK. The customer technical support rep Aleko (who is proficient & friendly) comes out to check and discovers that the wrong HVAC unit was installed. They installed a unit that does not have heat. They did not install a heat pump, as ordered. The order clearly stated heat pump so the issue started with the supplier "Howard". Regardless, someone at Personal Plumming should have checked that a HEAT PUMP was installed, as ordered. Now we have no heat and no resolution. If you can't avoid this company MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING WORKING BEFORE PAYING A DIME. Aleko is helpful. I can't say anything positive about the others at this point. They'll take your payment and simply not finish the job. Very frustrated and cold. It's November. I asked for the Owner or GM to call me, but have not heard back. Updated 11/18/24: (11 days after realizing I didn't have heat) ALFREDO was helpful, but it doesn't change the experience before. The owner sent him out to finally install the heat strips and my heat is now working. I will be "kind" at upgrade to 2 stars, but I would NOT consider myself a delighted customer. read more

I am not a person who writes reviews very often but I wanted to share this experience. My 40 year old house needed a whole new air and heating system. My son who lives in Europe did all the research and set up appointments with 7 companies. I learned a lot during this process and we had narrowed it down to two companies. We called Personal Plumbing out for a second time and I am so glad we did. We ended up going with them and They were amazing! I had three crews here and the job was finished in 10 hours. The workmanship is beautiful! All new equipment and Duct work is perfection. The guys who worked on my job were wonderful to work with. Keith Z. was referred to me by a meditation and restoration company. Keith made me nervous from the beginning as I spoke with him over the phone. Despite the fact. I allowed him to come and checked out the problem with my drain valve leak. Keith is an unethical person. He stated he was marking up the cost of his work to overcharge the insurance company and they would reimburse me.When I called him out on this. He said we do it all the time and became aggressive. He did not believe me when I told him how much the insurance company was allowing for repair work. His mark up was going to exceed the insurance payout. I called my insurance company while Keith was here so he could hear for himself. His behavior was intimidating and aggressive to say the least. Keith received a phone call. I took that opportunity to ask the insurance guy to stay on the phone with me until I felt safe and Keith was out of my house. Once Keith left my house. The insurance representative said he was recording our conversations and was prepare to dispatch the authorities if he needed. He was flirty initially. Later became overbearing. Anyways, I reported him to the company that sent him to my house. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Ladies, do not be alone with him. He is intimidating. read more

Keith and crew very suspicious and passive aggressive didn't even fix our problem lol would not recommend

Our work was performed late August while they were still Excel Services so I'm not sure if they still suffer from the same issues while under Personal Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning. Alex from Excel Services was great to work with. He laid out a complete plan for what my Wife and I would need to completely replace our old, antiquated A/C system. Setting up an appointment was easy, and the staff were pleasant to work with. We did run into a quite a bit of issues on the day of the job. It was originally estimated to take 1 day, and if they weren't able to complete it, they'd come out first thing in the morning; we were okay with that. We were scheduled for 8AM but the crew didn't arrive until 12PM. The crew was being double booked, one of the crew members called out, and they weren't replaced. This job took a total of 4 days to complete. Excel apologized for how long the project took and extended our maintenance 1 year as compensation. I do understand that we have an older house with an outdated system and that things happen outside of our control, but it was frustrating seeing the staff being overworked, tired, and understaffed. They were extremely friendly and professional despite their working conditions. The HVAC system is wonderful and it's everything that we asked for. However, our unit blew the fuse within the first hour of use. Within an hour of me calling Excel, Alex, I believe, came down to replace the fuse and rearrange some of the electrical wiring in our unit. 2 months later, we heard rodents scratching in the attic. After calling our attic company, they informed us that rodents were getting into the attic from where the new HVAC lines were installed, that the HVAC lines were smashing an air duct's flow, the air duct would need to be re-routed, and that 100-200 square feet of insulation were damaged. It was estimated to cost $2500 to repair the damages and re-rodent proof the attic and around the house. After calling Personal PHC, their friendly staff had a senior tech come out within a couple of hours and inspect our attic and HVAC system. Jay from Personal PHC, their COO, spoke with me to come up with a resolution to this issue. While they did not claim that they were liable for any of the alleged damages and refused to cover the $2500 cost, they did offer to extend our maintenance to 10 years as compensation, which we accepted. I understand that working on our house and having to rip and replace the old system, HVAC lines, unit, etc. is no small task whatsoever, and I understand that people make mistakes. I just wish someone from Excel/Personal PHC, like Alex, came down to take a final look at the job. Maybe we would've caught the issues much sooner. While I am not sure if Personal PHC suffer from the same problems that we encountered with Excel, I would ask the following questions before committing to working with them: 1) Given the scale of the project, how long will the project take to complete? 2) How many people will be working on the project? 3) Is your house the only project that the staff will be working on? 4) Will there be a follow-up inspection performed after project completion? Despite the delays, staffing issues, crushed air duct and reintroduction of rodents, my wife and are extremely happy with system and it works amazingly well. The people that I have spoken to, both at Excel and Personal PHC, were extremely kind and patient, and showed that they truly cared about their customers. I have learned an expensive lesson that when you have someone extensive perform work in your attic, call an attic/pest company afterwards to ensure that your house is still properly insulated and rodent proof. read more

Wanted to comment about what a good job these guys did. They were not the cheapest and not the most expensive, but they will do it right and keep you informed during the entire job. Also, after I saw what they had to do (trench my bathroom to get to my disintegrated pipes)... I see why the cost was what it was; it looked super difficult and very labor intensive. Very polite, gave us tips for future use of our trash compactor and overflow for the dishwasher. He ran checks, including a rinse cycle in the dishwasher. Today we finally had our old through-the-wall heat pump/AC system replaced with a more efficient and quieter Mitsubishi ductless mini split system. We received an excellent quote from Personal Plumbing in Oceanside, CA. It was very competitive compared with other installers in Orange County. They were very patient with all of the rules and regulations required by our HOA to install new AC systems. The installer, Miguel, was extremely professional and completed his work in just a few hours after which we noticed an immediate improvement in our AC performance and noise level. Our advisor Max, who presented us with various equipment options, was very competent and helpful through the entire process. He did not fulfill the second commitment in spite of several requests over a two month period. GET ANY COMMITTMENT IN WRITING. I needed a plumber on a Sunday and called about 15 that I found on Yelp. No one could get out same day. Personal Plumbing answered the phone immediately and had someone out there within 2 hours. It was for our vacation rental so it needed to be fixed immediately. The plumber took care of a shower head issue and clogged drains. I'm very disappointed in my experience with this company. The handle on my shower cracked and I wasn't able to turn the hot water side on anymore. I informed my landlord and he called personal plumbing as he'd used them before. The only positive was that they were able to come the same day and put in the replacement handle I had just bought from Home Depot. It probably took the plumber no more than 30 minutes to fix. He mentioned some other work that might be needed, and I told him I'd let the landlord know. Later I find out they were charging the landlord $400 for the service, which was insane since I had provided the parts. I'm am beyond appalled how a company could charge that much for something as simple as changing out 1 shower handle. The next day the company decided to reach out asking if I was going to be home to "finish" the job....now I let them know that only issue we had was the handle which had been fixed...and then I let them know that the plumber had mentioned something else, but wasn't needing that at this time. Now, my landlord is an older gentleman and gets confused sometimes so, for a company to try to take advantage of him like this is completely unacceptable. If this is the type of business you're running, where you try to take advantage of people I will gladly take my business elsewhere!! read more

I live in an old house in an area plagued with plumbing issues. I have had repeated snaking done in my bathroom in the 3+ years I have lived here. It was time to have a camera put down the sewer system and see the problem. I used Personal Plumbing on recommendation of a neighbor who was satisfied with their work. Ramces and David came today to sort out the issue. There were roots, lots of them, in the bathroom area sewer pipes. They descaled the area, ran the camera through the whole sewer system and then plotted out with their scout system the areas of concern. The news wasn't what I wanted to hear but now I know. Our residence pretty much has an annual need to have a drainage cleanout of tree roots within our sewer lines. Over the years we have typically paid between $100 to $350 for a service call depending on the severity of the roots at a given time. Last year we used Vets for You Plumbing and paid around $350. The year before we paid around $200. Vets for You Plumbing has now been acquired by Personal Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning..... We had them come out to perform our annual routine and were given an estimate of $1,795! The rationale was the technology they used. Although the service representative was very professional and personable, we declined their service and ended up paying for a $95 service call and were still left with tree roots. We have another company that we've used before come today and they normally charge $175 with a 15% senior discount on top of that price, so $155 out the door and roots have been cleared. As you can see, the price difference is greater than a factor of 10. You can make your own assessment....... Really bummed to have lost Vets for You Plumbing and Yogi's Plumbing which have gotten acquired now by this company. read more
