Their food truck stopped in front of my hotel tonight and I had a chance to try them out. I ordered a bed empanada and the pan con pollo. Both tasted amazing! Super fresh and cooked perfectly. The pan con pollo had very welll seasoned chicken and fresh produce. The empanada was big but if it were all I was ordering I'd suggest ordering 2. If you are given the chance, buy the rococo hot sauce they make, it's creamy and spicy, very good! 10/10 would buy from them again! read more

I'm a regular at the food trucks in Farragut and metro center, and this is one of the better ones I've been to. Had the pan con chicharron, which was very tasty. Highly recommend getting it with the sweet and spicy pineapple sauce. Prices are reasonable, spent $9 on sandwich and soda, and I wanna come back and try their empanadas. I was actually really impressed with my sandwich from here. I ordered the pan con pollo and it was really enjoyable. It fell apart quite easily but that only marginally ruined the experience. All of the ingredients were pretty standard and the chicken was quite good but what really made this sandwich work was the sauces. The original medium sauce I had on gave it a very authentic taste. Then, when I added the spicy sauce, it got even better. Definitely get the spicy sauce with your meal. It didn't have too much heat to it but boy was it good. read more

Pretty solid and spicy if you add the extra sauces. Would not recommend without those, it becomes basically just a pork sandwich. The food is great but sometime I hate ordering from them because the staff act very slow. I would say 2/3 times my order of plantains would be missing or yucca fries. One time I order yucca fries, they put fries instead. I usually order a lot of food from them but it no excuse that there are couple of missing stuff that they forgot. I had 2 beef empanadas for lunch yesterday, they were pretty tasty. Came with lemon wedges and hot sauce for $10. It was a 90 degree DC summer day and there were 20+ food trucks out in the area. It was a decent wait but what can you expect? It was 12:15 PM, they had a line and they were busy. The empanadas were pretty tasty, I can't say they were the best I've ever had, but the crust was not too flaky and they were generous with the amount of beef inside. I would stop by again. read more

Got the Pan con Chicharrón and it was exactly what I wanted. Great, soft bread, tasty meat, salsa criolla, and sweet potato! On it's own this sandwich was great, but then add the hot sauce they give you on the side and it might just make your day. And no, during the several months I worked in Peru, I never came across a sandwich like this, but everything about it tasted like Peru to me. I'm certainly no authority on Peruvian cuisine but this sandwich gave me the salsa criolla I was craving and the sweet potato was an unexpected delight. My favorite dish is the pan con asado. I highly recommend it. It's always seasoned well and the caramelized onions were like the cherry on top. You *have* to get the plantains. They come to Springfield occasionally. Food is pretty good. The pork sandwich is the best one and it's on point! I would give Peruvian Brothers six stars if there were six stars. This Labor Day weekend was my husband's birthday, the first one since we got married in May (yay! Congrats!) As a new wife I wanted to do everything I could to make his birthday wonderful. However, in my pursuit of birthday planning excellence I was hindered by my inability to cook anything that involves more than the microwave. I am pretty smart though, so I figured a work-around: get someone to make amazing food for the small dinner party. In this way I would not be making the food for the party but I would make it possible, as only capitalism can do. I reached out to Peruvian Brothers because I had hired them years ago for an alumni event. I had only dim hopes for a reply, thinking a 10 person dinner party was below whatever threshhold they had to make/sell food. Surely this place only replied to people that wanted to buy kilos and kilos of food (see what I did there? I used the Latin American weight measure) and would not be interested in my small but very lovingly planned party. I was super, super wrong. They replied to my email immediately and set up a time so I could call and speak directly to them about my plans. Giuseppe listened to my whole story without a rush. He steered me away from my ill-planned menu choices and suggested instead the aji and the empanadas. I didn't feel like he was up-selling me at all, especially since he said he would price the whole thing and email it to me. I receieved an email from him the very next day with a very, very, very reasonably-priced proposal for my dinner party. He explained that they would be out of town for the holiday (doing some work thing) so they wouldn't be unable to deliver, but that I could pick it up. Again, I was over the moon happy: what kind of place offers to do this even on a day they are closed? On the day of the event two guests decided to email me to say they could come after all. I was pretty mad at them and without thinking I called Giuseppe and in nearly incomprehensibly fast Spanglish explained that I had more people coming and asked him to please sell me more empanadas. He sounded as calm as if he were in the middle of a yoga retreat and said that he could sell me twenty empanadas. I did a celebration dance in my living room. A couple of hours later I picked up the food from their location in Alexandria. It is not super convenient if you don't own a car, but it can be done. If you make the best decision of your party-planning career and order food from them, please also check out the Kiwi (as in New Zealand) pie place that's in the same little area. I served my ten very, very gringo guests aji de gallina and empanadas that night. These are all wonderful, loving, and very skinny people and they ALL HAD SECONDS because the food was that good. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how good the food was and I recommended Peruvian Bros over and over, as I am doing now. My husband especially loved the food. He is now very interested in learning how to make aji de gallina. I keep saying we should just keep buying it from Peruvian Brothers. I tried this food truck near the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station. There was another Peruvian chicken food truck but the line was long and my time was limited. This truck did not have a long line so I took a chance with them. I regret it now. I ordered the Pollo platter with Peruvian rice and mashed potatoes for $11 dollars. The chicken is sliced and did not have any grilled flavor. Honestly it didn't have much flavor at all. The rice tasted like it came out of a box with very little seasoning added. The mashed potatoes were ok, so I basically paid $11 for a spoonful of decent mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. Also, I am not implying correlation equals causation, but my credit card was cloned and fraudulently used later today. It could've just been a coincidence. However, if this has happened to other people who have visited the Peruvian Brothers' food truck, the company may want to consider getting a better payment processing system. Overall, I gave them two stars because they got my order right and the potatoes were edible. But it was not a good purchase for the money. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. I had Tilapia and two sides. Being that besides Peruvian Chicken I have not had Peruvian, I cannot speak to it's authenticity. However, if you want some of the best service in DC and some really good, reasonably priced for then stop at one of their food trucks. DC is NOT the place where you find a great deal of friendly, warm and welcoming customer service folks but at the Peruvian Brothers food truck at Gallery Place they were all smiles and customer care. The food was hot, fresh, and tasted great. I had the Tilapia which was well seasoned, flaky, just perfect with a side of really good mashed potatoes and a pretty run of the mill salad. 12 bucks. I ordered chicken and two sides - I didn't realize I was getting sliced chicken lunch meat. Literally. I thought I was going to get a real chicken from the name of this truck. The quinoa salad was good though. The orange sauce was all they had for condiment, and it's nothing compared to the usual yellow and green sauces served elsewhere. I guess I should just stick to Super Pollo and Pollo Rico. This is not a real chicken meal whatsoever. They exhibit themselves as "Peruvians" but their food tastes nothing like it. The chicha morada had no flavor. It seemed as if they added plenty of water to have more to sell. Not sure about the rave reviews...but my experience wasn't as great. This was my first time trying "real food" from a food truck and it will prob be my last. I got the chicken & mashed potatoes, took a bite of each and gave it to the homeless guy on the park bench. The chicken was dry, the potatoes taste watery, it just didn't do it for me. I wanted to force myself to eat it, because I was starving and didn't want to waste money..but I couldn't do it. If anyone is reading this and decides to give Peruvian Brothers a try, you should prob ask what the popular menu item is and stick with that. read more

I'd give them 4, maybe 4.5 for the food, and the people working there were perfectly nice. I got 2 empanadas at $5 apiece and a side of criolla (a vinegary sauce with red onions and bits of orange pepper). One empanada was spinach and cheese, and it was excellent. I also got the chicken, which was loaded with chicken. The meat was a little dry, but pouring some of the criolla on it made it very good. The size of 2 empanadas is enough for a good meal, and the pastry was incredible--like a good bakery's sweet, crispy pastry. I could eat it by itself. So with all this praise, why only 3 stars? Because I think they should advertise that their prices are different if you pay with credit card. If it says $11 on the truck, and someone pays $11 cash, I don't think I should find out that I've been charged $12.10 to my credit card unless something on the truck makes it clear that they're charging different amounts for cash versus credit card. I only found out after I had gone. I probably won't go back because this tact bothers me too much. read more

Ordered the chicharron sandwich and fried plantains. Was not impressed with the sandwich. Dry meat, dry bread, no flavor. The plantains what I'm used to being maduros. The food was two stars, but the service bumps it up to three... which, coming from a food truck, a vendor that has the most limited service possible to buy food from a human, is saying a lot. Ok, ok, ya got me. The guy is sweet on the eyes, so expect a heaping dose of eye candy with your food. Anyway, back to the food... the spinach and cheese empanada is hardly worth the $5 charged.
