This was one of the worst experiences we've had here. We've always had a great time until today, and unfortunately, this will probably be the last time we come here. We arrived at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, and the restaurant was pretty empty, with only about two other tables dining. When we ordered, we were told they only had two chicken breasts left. We had driven 45 minutes specifically for the chicken, so we settled for the chicken breasts. Unfortunately, the chicken was very dry and cold, as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. We also ordered the lomo saltado and specifically requested no tomatoes. When our server brought out the dish, I immediately noticed there were tomatoes on it, so I reminded her that I had asked for no tomatoes. She walked over to the wall that separates the dining room from the kitchen and loudly yelled to ask if the order had been made without tomatoes. About a minute later, she brought the same plate back and said there were no tomatoes. However, while eating, we found a large piece of tomato in the dish. Our server also never checked on our table. We constantly had to wave her down whenever we needed something. At one point, another table even had to tell her that we were trying to get her attention. I've been driving by this place for a while and wanted to give it a try. I came on 8/4/2026 around 5pm. The restaurant is nice clean and spacious. The food did take almost 30 minutes to arrive. We ordered sopa de camarones (needed more flavor and seasoning ) beef lomo saltado (hardly any meat and fries were soggy) and tallarin verde con lomo (very dry noodles). Taste was great, but the protein portions were small. The pasta came with just 5 small shrimp and wasn't worth $20, and the saltado de pollo had a pretty small amount of protein too. Flavor-wise everything was solid, and I'd just like to see more for the price. read more

I am a bit torn with this review because the service was great, but the food was just ok. I thought I would go with the basic, Lomo Saltado, and Pollo Saltado. The food was...average. you get a ton of fries but only a little bit of meat, tomatoes and onions. The meat wasn't to tender, but not horribly tough. Lovely Peruvian restaurant on Route 66. An older looking building from the outside but the interior is spacious, cheerfully decorated with an open, industrial feel. I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff when I entered and was seated immediately. I ordered Cau Cau and a Pollo Saltado. The Cau Cau had tender pieces of honeycomb tripe cooked with potatoes, carrots, and peas in an aji amarillo sauce. There were julienne strips of spearmint throughout the stew which gave it a bright flavor. Steamed white rice and thinly sliced red onion marinated in lime juice were served along with the tripe. These were good accompaniments, especially the red onions which served as a palate cleanser. The aji amarillo sauce in the dish was very mild in flavor. The aji verde table sauce in a squeeze bottle turned out to be more creamy than spicy. Only a slight kick could be found there. All in all, the Cau Cau was still a delicious dish and perfect for those who prefer a less fiery heat experience. Pollo Saltado had tender strips of chicken breast sauteed with French fries, tomatoes, and red onions. The Saltado consisted mainly of French fries when compared with the quantity of meat and the other vegetables. The dish was also very salty. The chef should have been aware of the different level of saltiness between brands of soy sauce and used the ingredient judiciously. Chicha Morada had a good flavor and went well with the two dishes I ordered. I would have liked the beverage a little colder in temperature but that is just my preference. Service was polite and efficient. The food came out of the kitchen fairly quickly. The restaurant can accommodate larger parties of diners in their space. Parking is plentiful in their lot but the driveway is only accessible when driving East on Foothill Boulevard. It is also easy to miss the restaurant altogether so be sure to look for the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man to guide you. read more

I was at Victoria Gardens and knew that this place was close by. I saw that they had lomo saltado ($21). They have a good parking lot size and have a good amount of seating inside. Bright inside with a large mural once you enter. They have a good variety on their menu. Other tables got mainly pollo a la brasa which is Peruvian rotisserie chicken. The wait time was not long. The lomo saltado was not too salty, the aji had a good heat to it, spicy and creamy. I got the 2 liter of chicha morada to go ($8) and it was not too sweet. Ambiance - a large venue and the place is nice especially with the salsa music playing in the background. We gave our suggestions to the manager. The ambience was ok but no one really goes here for that. Last but not least on a Saturday the service was lacking. This has to be one of your busier nights and one person doing most of the work, felt bad for him bc that's not really his fault. His partner was not pulling her weight. As such, we waited nearly 20 minutes just to order foods and drinks. With competition literally 20 minutes from here next to Haven City Market; you'd think they'd want to be too notch in taste and service as those are clearly things that can be helped asap. For mediocre Lomo Saltado and poor service unfortunately a 3 is best I can mark this place and you'll see I hardly give those away. This place left me wanting more. It feels so close to fine dining and date night but the ambience just fell flat. The Good: Food. The Service: Friendly service if not a bit relaxed. Food: For most quality plates your expecting, you'll be at or over $20 per person. Most drinks and deserts seemed fair but the menu has clearly had multiple changes. But the food is worth the price. Service: friendly, helpful, bilingual. Don't know what something is or want a recommendation? Just ask. I did have to ask for refills after two missed opportunities so bit of a whiff there. Ambience: Spotless inside. Top marks for that. I wish this place had linens, I wish our server didn't have a uniform similar to albertos, I wish the silverware didn't come wrapped in a napkin. I don't mind the concrete undressed floor. The lighting and sound was solid. For the feel, I'd hope to dress up the table and staff. I also wish that if the outside tables are going to be neglected, they'd be removed. At some point they're an eye sore. And don't light up a Wacky Wavey Inflatable Arm Tube-man. Light up the awning. It's an affordable eye catching upgrade. I have to explain, they didn't lose a star because of my opinion of what I thought this place deserved to be. They lost a star for the following: Menu prices not matching charges And the fatal flaw: cleaning with fabuloso while patrons dining. What a punch in the senses. To be dining on quality food just to be OVERWHELEMED with the smell of pungent cleaning detergents. It happens all the time. Seems like a manager demands an employee be moving all the time and everything's been cleaned so they'll just go mop something. Please.... for the love of dining. Today is my third time here. The food is okay. I've had better elsewhere. The Cau Cau was good however, the lomo saltado was very tough. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Each time the waitresses seemed scatterbrained. They never come back to the table after they drop off your food. I don't know if that's how it's done in Peru but they're in the United States now. The owners would be well advised to train their servers to check on tables every so often. The only reason I came back a third time was to try the lomo saltado which is very hard to mess up. Had this establishment for the first time, and it was very delicious! I called in my order over the phone, and the staff was extremely helpful. I went with the Lomo Saltado plate, and it was everything I was craving. The white sauce had a nice kick that perfectly complemented the dish. The portion size was just right -- not too big, but satisfying. They weren't stingy with the meat either; the pieces were well-cut and mixed in nicely. Ordered take out, tallarín verde de lomo, lomo saltado, and ceviche de pescado. The fish had a good flavor as well as texture. The dried corn was fairly flavorless and particularly hard to chew while the fresh corn was still on the cob which made it slightly more cumbersome to eat. The base for the lomo and tallarín were standard, not the greatest, but also not the worst tasting. The meat however, was pretty bad. The to go order did not contain a knife with which to cut the full length of meat for the tallarín plate. I'm unsure why it wasn't cut into smaller portions in the restaurant, particularly for a to go order. I ended up using a steak knife but I still had difficulty cutting the meat. It was dry and tough like beef jerky. The same goes for the meat from the lomo saltado plate. read more

I stopped by around 6:20 PM, knowing they close at 7:00 PM. The restaurant was mostly empty, and I asked the waitress for a menu. She went to the back, and shortly after a man came out and told us it was too late because they close at 7:00. With 40 minutes until closing and an empty dining room, it was disappointing to be turned away without the opportunity to even place an order. My wife and I were ready to eat and would have gladly finished before closing. As a small business owner myself, I understand the importance of customer service and making guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, this experience fell short. We won't be returning. If you're looking for great Peruvian food and a welcoming atmosphere, I recommend Cafe Picante in Ontario instead. read more
