The ambience was cozy, romantic and I loved how they had decorations out for fall. Our waitress Andrea was great! She was very friendly, accommodating and provided fast service. She brought out bread with their homemade pesto and parmigiana. The pesto was so good. It's nice to get something other than butter. As an appetizer, we got the Caprese and we wanted to split a pasta dish but didn't want a full entree. Fortunately, they have a few pasta dishes that come in either a full or half portion so we ordered a half portion of the Bolognese pasta. For dinner, I ordered one of the specials which was a spinach fettuccine pasta dish with chicken instead of lobster. Finally, for dessert, we got the cheesecake. The Bolognese was excellent as well as the Caprese (it came with prosciutto which was a nice touch). I enjoyed the Spinach Fettuccine and cheesecake as well but those weren't my favorite dishes. Service is spectacular, food is amazing and it's located in a great spot, not too trendy and quite little corner restaurant. From the name you can imagine that seafood reigns supreme. Owner is related to family that owns Anastasia's on Washington Ave in South Philly. Server makes a great little pesto for the table as an app before dinner. I had the grilled octopus salad which was filling enough, but I still managed to shove a plate of portabella mushroom ravioli topped with decadent braised short ribs down my gullett. Pescatore Restaurant - Filet Mignon - Shoe leather style and Recycled Salad. It's a good thing I was not the one paying for this, because I would have demanded a full refund. The occasion was a Memorial for a family member who recently passed and was cremated. We were a group of 21, family and friends. The event was on Sunday, Oct 22nd., from 12 to 3 pm. We were in the reserved room on the right and there was another event going on in the room on the left. Several of us ordered the Filet Mignon. This was the worst cut of beef I have ever tasted. We all had the same experience with this horrible, tough, tasteless meat. It was served with mashed potatoes which was bland and really tasted like Instant Potatoes. The only thing which was adequate was the cheese cake. Secondly, they served us with mis-matched table ware, cups and silverware. If that was not enough, one of our guests had not eaten her House Salad. Guess what ????? The waitress (the young lady with very thick black eyebrows) took the bowl and asked everyone at the table "does anyone want an extra salad" this is after it had been sitting in front of that guest for a good 20 minutes ! I believe this breaks some sort of Health Dept Regulations. We were appalled. I stared at the waitress in dis-belief and she shot me a dirty looked and rolled her eyes at me and walked over to the other waitress and said something then strutted off into the kitchen. She probably sneezed in my plate or worse. She is the one who handed me my meal. The one with the thick black eyebrows. I have not experienced such bad behavior from staff and a restaurant in years !!!! At my table there was 12 family members and we all had the same feelings and experience from this situation. On Sundays they don't open until 4 pm and so we figured they were saving the Good Stuff for the guests coming into the place after the Group Dining. It was an awful experience. read more

However, the chicken ceasar salad was horrible. They gave no dressing???? And the chicken was so bland, I think they forgot to season it. It was pretty upsetting given the fact that it was ridiculously expensive for basically just lettuce lol. The tiramisu was great though. On one occasion, asked waitress if she could provide an alternative to the asparagus that came with the entree, and her response was "no." On a more recent visit, only two entrees were delivered to our table of four. After waiting for several minutes, asked the waitress when the remaining dinners would be served and she replied "she worked on this side of the kitchen door and not the chef's side." The preferable response would have been that she would check. Poor training and poor supervision of wait staff. Twice... I just moved to the area and was excited to check this place out since my husband and I love Italian food. I called at 725pm and spoke to whoever answered about how late they were open til since there were various closing times online. They told me their kitchen was open until 9 but that they'll usually stay open until the last table leaves. I said great I'm about 30 mins away and I asked if I needed to make a reservation. They told me no need since there were a bunch of open tables. They also told me they were byob. So I show up at 810pm with my hubby and a nice Barolo and get told that the kitchen was cleaned up at 8. I'm sorry, what? Why misinform your guests? Why wasn't I told to make a reservation? Why wasn't I told to be there by x time? Poor unprofessional service and very unwelcoming first impression. read more

I came here a couple of months ago because I always drive by from work and wondered how their food was. And if you're wondering, too, they have great food! It's a small place on the corner, with ambient lighting and wonderful staff! I tried the lobster ravioli and my wife had their scrumptious scallops who were perfectly cooked! They have this huge slice of chocolate cake, and if you've seen the classic Matilda, this cake is similar but not as moist as I would have liked. Food was pretty legit. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and entrees and the quality was pretty up there. My personal dish which was the Buccatini was impressive. I loved how they did not skimp out at all on the sea food. I was able to taste the crab meat in every bite. One dislike I had about this dish was that the pasta was slightly overcooked than preferred. It was too soft. Ordered pretty much all of the dessert and they were legit. My favorite was chocolate penna cotta. Yummmm. Perfect creaminess and sweetness. It almost had a hint of caramel in it. Reasons for knocking off a star: This place isn't ideal for large groups and isn't very kid friendly. We had a total party of 8, 2 being a toddler and an infant and we were squeezed towards the back. Was a bit hard to move around. There is no changing table. Waitress was nice to clear top of the "dresser" that was in the ladies' room so I could change my little one. I don't know a restaurant that doesn't have a changing table these days.. except for take out/hole in the wall Chinese restaurants. Also, the service was mediocre. She wasn't as friendly as preferred. That's just an opinion though. One thing I do have to commend is that when I asked for ice for the white wine we had, she brought a cup of ice with a spoon which made it easy to scoop up the ice. Thank you for that. read more

This place is amazing!! Growing up in an Italian household, it's hard to find places that make fresh and authentic Italian food that is just as good. This is the place!! The crab meat wrapped in prosciutto was an appetizer special which was to die for. My boyfriend had "A Twist on Nonna's Sunday Gravy" which was a huge portion and tasted fresh (picture not posted because it was blurry). I had the Gnocchi which had to be the best homemade gnocchi I have ever had. Not to mention the sauce and everything within the dish was amazing too. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so inviting. Was there on May 26th. Our server, Meghan was very pleasant. No problem with appetizers. But 2 of the 5 dinner orders really got screwed up. The menu just said "Veal Chop". So I ordered it wit the included side of Brussel sprouts. Another guest ordered the veal chop special Parmesean. The special was pounded, breaded and very thin. Mine was also breaded,very thin, covered with salad and a side of Brussel sprouts. I said I ordered the regular chop from the regular menu and no where did it say "Breaded," etc. . o I ordered the "twin filets topped with shrimp". Was not told the filets would be chopped up into uneven pieces and served in a sauce. I said no other sides as I did eat the Brussel sprouts waiting for my new order.. The special was tough and could have been any meat the way it was presented. When the bill came I had been charged for the Brussel sprots, even though I said that would be my veggie with the filet. The response from the manager ( who never appeared) was "Well, you ate it". I thought it would be the veggie I declined with the filet.. It was frustrating and the manager couldn't even be bothered to come to our table. We have dined here many times, but certainly in no hurry to ever go back. read more

I found this restaurant on Open Table because I wanted somewhere close that I could have a reservation since it was a Friday. I get there at 7 for a 7pm reservation and our table isn't ready. The host was rude. No apology for us having to wait. 10 minutes later I inquire about an empty table and am gruffly told, "that's going to be a 4-top." After we wait for a couple to finish coffee and watch our table get reset we finally are seated. The rude host still does not apologize but mutters something about "we shouldn't have been allowed to make a 7pm reservation." Hmmm. Blaming the customer for poor front-end management is never going to sit well with me. In spite of the rudeness the chicken liver appetizer was good. The rest was just OK and in Philadelphia OK isn't good enough for an Italian meal. A couple next to us finally gets up to get a glass because no servers would stop at the table. They said they frequent the restaurant and it's the worst service they've ever had. I told them it was my first visit and because of the service would also be my last. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here on a Friday night recently. Was in town from Minneapolis to visit my college son and was looking for something nice in the Philly suburbs. I found this spot on open table then checked yelp for the straight scoop. It is a small cozy spot with not a lot of room between the tables but that didn't stop the very attentive and efficient wait staff from keeping every water glass full at all times. I had a hard time choosing-there were so many great sounding items on the menu plus about 6 great specials. In the end, I chose the Bronzino special-delectable white fish with a nice white wine sauce topped with asparagus and crab and served with flavorful mashed potatoes. Lots of great flavor and perfect meal. We started off with another special, grilled flatbread topped with tangy Cesar salad, crab and shrimp-more than enough for 4 people and a salad and appetizer all in one-clever. The only drawback for me was the concept of "BYO" - apparently the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license (who knew) and so you need to bring your own wine. Wow! We were blown away by Pescatore! After a quick Yelp search, we found this gem of a place and were consistently impressed with all aspects of the good and service. The wait staff was very attentive but not too much to the point of being bothersome. Our waitress was knowledgable and friendly, and gave fabulous suggestions. Our food was SPECTACULAR! The complementary bread with cheese and pesto were delightful. In fact, the pesto tastes exactly like something from my Italian grandmother's kitchen! This place clearly goes the extra mile for heir customers. For the entree, we both chose from the extensive specials list-- my boyfriend went with the Bronzino, and the waitress made the grilled octopus special into an entree with homemade tagliatelle for me. Both were to die for! Finished off with a great tiramisu. Overall, the waitstaff and quality of the food made it a great night. The entrees average between $25 and $30, but are certainly worth the price! I only wish we could afford to go more often! BYOB certainly makes it more affordable on the other hand. I don't get the Four Star reviews for this place. I have been to Pescatore maybe five-six times, which is a lot considering we live in a region with so many good places to eat. Let me start off by suggesting what this place is not. It is not large. It doesn't offer a bar scene. It is not the Olive Garden, where you can get corporate Italian food for a reasonable price. This is a family owned restaurant, specializing in seafood, prepared in an Italian/Mediterranean style. It is not quiet and you may have to wait for a table. Maybe there is a good reason for this inconvenience. Maybe, over the years, they have done what they're supposed to do -- serve good food, expertly prepared, well presented, at a price that still lets the diner walk away with the feeling this was a good value. Our server was attentive and helpful, and seemed she genuinely wanted us to enjoy ourselves. She shared that the owners of the restaurant also own a fish market in Italian Market area in Philadelphia, so the fish here is fresh. We ordered the stuffed portabello appetizer, duroc pork chop, brasciole, side of wild mushroom risotto, and pistachio gelato. Everything we had was tasty and respectable. The portabella was actually flattened and served with a crab cake + accoutrements (capers, roasted red peppers) on top. It was good, but the crab cake had breading in it and I prefer just lump crab. A preference thing, but worth trying! The pork chop was served over a bed of smooth mashed potatoes. It was tender and very crispy with the panko. I would order it again for sure. The brasciole is a beef dish that's been cooked for a long time to make it fall apart. Served with a red sauce, also over mashed potatoes. Very good! The meat was very tender. We also ordered a side of wild mushroom risotto. The rice was toothy, and it tasted more like butter than parmesan cheese. This is ok if you prefer the taste of butter more than cheese, but I am the opposite. It had thin slices of what looked like shiitake in it. Overall mushroom flavor was delicate. We appreciated the pistachio gelato on the house for our special occasion! It was good, but tasted of either an almond/amaretto extract ever so slightly. I liked the pieces of raw pistachio, but could do without the extract flavor. Again, a preference, but nothing wrong in the execution! Inside they have a very deep and romantic theme. White walls with framed photographs. Rich red curtains by the door. Very cozy as long as you stay away from the vents! We came here for dinner. The ambiance is very nice. It's not too loud which is good because it's pretty small. No issues parking and very convenient location for us. We started with the burrata salad which was excellent. My wife said that that dish alone would be worth coming back for. Our main dishes were bucatini pescatore and the short ribs. Honestly they were both rather forgettable. Still, both were ok. For dessert we had the cannoli. As far as cannolis go I don't think I've ever had a bad cannoli. This place on the other hand had filling with no sweetness whatsoever. It was actually difficult to eat it. Which I did anyway because I slathered it with the whipped cream that came on the side. As far as the pace of dinner we were pretty happy with the service but this is definitely not an express option. If ur looking for a good date spot this would fit the bill. read more

I was here last night for their NYE special. The food was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. My date and I were seated in the back so sometimes the staff forgot about us a bit but I'm low maintenance and it was a big holiday so I'm still not disappointed. It is BYOB which is always going to give you no less than two stars with me because well come on.... For appetizer we started with eggplant rollatini, mussels in pomodoro sauce, grilled octopus and a signature flatbread. I could've easily went without the mussels and eggplant. I think the mussels lacked flavor and they eggplant would've been better not breaded. The octopus was quite delicious but the flatbread stole the first act. It was a shrimp and crab Caesar salad atop a warm pita bread. Like the three little bears the mussels too bland and the eggplant too tough but the flatbread was just right. From the pita to the dressing it was a unique but simple dish. The only recommendation would be if they maybe pre-cut the pita before sitting the salad atop it. For my main entree I had Mediterranean halibut with artichokes, olives, capers, sun dried tomatoes and seasonal vegetables all in a white wine sauce. Now this dish was simply epic. I tasted the rest of the tables food as well in true Brittany fashion. Short rib was good, sauce a little too rich. Steak special was great, slightly undercooked but they accommodated it quickly. Lobster ravioli was such a hit though. After long ponder I decided on the cheesecake for dessert. Thankfully so, it was too good, I go one to go. I would definitely return. Went there for dinner and it was the worst experience. We were seated at a table and waited for 45 minutes before a waiter even approached our table. We sat there with a rent a plate and a loaf of bread that was reluctantly placed on our table. No other plates, utensils or napkins.. as my husband said it was dipping sauce for the bread since we had no utensils. After about 55 minutes we finally got drinks and menus. 2 1/2 hours later we finally got one of our three appetizers but that's the only one we got. Never received the other two. The waiter told us that the kitchen was in shambles but yet tables of people came in hours after us and received the appetizers and dinner before we ever got ours. 3 hours later we finally received our dinner. We LOVE Pescatore! Food is divine and service is always great. We came yesterday after seeing Saturday Night Fever at the Walnut Street Theater. Had an early dinner and everything was so delicious. We had the Caesar salad flatbread topped with crabmeat (SOOOOOO good), grilled octopus, Eggplant, Mozzarella stack, and Nonna's meatballs for starters. I always tell myself don't overdo the starters and the complimentary bread and cheese they provide, but it's too tempting. Three of us had the soft-shell crab special, it was served over arugula with mashed potatoes and was divine. One other person had the steak, another had bronzino, and another had the bolognese. We also had the most delicious dessert tray which included chocolate chip cheesecake, cannoli's, tiramisu, fresh whipped cream and Panna cotta with blueberry compote on top--it was my favorite. This restaurant is racist! The food is good but it is very racist. The first time I went there was barely anyone there so we got right in and sat down and ate. The service itself was just okay but the food was awesome. The second time I went we were running a few minutes late so me and my boyfriend called and told them and they said it was okay as long as it was within the 15 minute grace period. We called when we were 2 minutes away and they said okay. When we got there ,which was within the grace period, the hostess looked us up and down and told us that we were too late and there was no more food. Everyone in the restaurant was Caucasian. Everyone turned around and looked at us. How could they run out of food that fast? I felt as though they couldn't tell if we were white or black over the phone but once we got there and they saw us they were turned off and probably worried about what their other guests would think. The first time we went it was empty and they probably just wanted our money and business. I would never go back to this restaurant or recommend it to anybody else. I guess they added more tables to pack em in a make more $$$ but I was almost touching elbows with the table next to me. A bit claustrophobic and one obese woman had to push my chair to walk by and was saying "I should have gone on a diet to get into the restaurant!" They placed our bottle of wine to chill in a plastic bag full of ice water! No room for an ice bucket and I thought my food was going to slide off the table it was so tiny.
