If you look back at my previous review photos, you'll see the PERFECT schnauzer cut they used to do. Consistent. Professional. Distinguished little gentleman energy. Recently though, scheduling became nearly impossible. Every conversation sounded like: "Let me confirm if our groomer is actually working that day..." After weeks of trying to coordinate schedules, my schnauzer's hair got longer than ever. He loves wearing shirts, so yes, he had some matting. I paid extra for de-matting and gave very clear instructions: shave the skirt, but keep a full beard along with his chest and paws fluffy. Y'all... when I picked him up, I genuinely did not recognize my own dog. He walked in looking like a miniature schnauzer and walked out looking like a scrappy chihuahua named Peanut. They shaved EVERYTHING. His entire body, his face, even his whiskers. HIS WHISKERS. WTF. I know hair grows back and thankfully it's summer, but I honestly felt bad for him. As someone with longer hair myself, if somebody sat me down and buzzed me to the skin without warning, I'd probably need emotional support and a hoodie for a month. My dog still seems happy and unbothered, but I'm traumatized enough for both of us. After years of loyalty, this was incredibly disappointing and totally unacceptable. We will never come back..

She was able to handle our often unfriendly chihuahua without problem and we could tell she really cared for our animals. As a veterinarian, I have pretty high standards for animal care. Our pets are family and we are always nervous trusting a new person to take care of them when we can't be there. Jessica isn't the type of person to send a text or email each time she visits, but was happy to give updates when asked and responded promptly to messages. When we got back home, I found a stack of progress notes with sweet tidbits about the pets for each visit. We are so happy we found her and would recommend her 100%!

Thanks to social media, I was already familiar with Jessica, the owner of Wags and Whiskers, due to me following her company on twitter quite some time ago. I have read her tweets, and read her great blog, and even purchased a toy she recommended for Angel that ended up being one of Angel's favorites! So, I decided to contact her and see if she was up for the task. I emailed her what I needed done, and she replied almost immediately with the answers to my questions! This was a great sign! Jessica requested that she come over and meet Angel to be sure Angel was comfortable with her, so we set a date a time. Jessica arrived promptly with a staff member and I could tell immediately she was passionate about her job. Angel and her got along great! We chatted about the details of when to feed etc, and I just knew Angel would be in good hands. When we returned from our trip, we were greeted by a happy dog! No nervousness or sickness like when she was at the kennels! On the counter we found notes that shared the things Jessica and Angel did during her visits...this was great!!! It was nice to know that Angel had a buddy while we were gone! If you are looking for someone who will come to your home while you are gone, and take care of your pets, I wholeheartedly recommend Wags and Whiskers for the job!!

We rescued this big baby, Juice, about a year ago and while he has some excellent attributes we…read morecouldn't seem to really get him to listen or obey certain commands. We needed help! After several training inquiries with multiple companies, I immediately heard back from Karma, and a call with the owner was set up. He asked me all about Juice and explained the options he thought would be best. After deciding on "board and train" he said he thought he had the perfect person in mind and they would reach out soon. A couple days later I received correspondence from Sammye Darling, a trainer for Karma, who wanted to set up a call to talk about Juice. During our call she was very confident that she would be able to help with teaching him basic obedience and jumping. We settled on a 10 day timeframe with the expectation that it would be imperative to continue the training ourselves afterwards. (She would've preferred 14 days because that last few days is really when the training sinks in but I assured her we would stay on it) Scheduling was easy and convenient while we went out of town on vacation. Sammye was warm, gentle, and friendly upon dropping Juice off with her and I trusted her immediately. She stayed in constant communication with us, sending pictures, and updates on his progress. He took some time, he's stubborn, but eventually she saw the switch and said he was doing great! I missed him so much but knew he was in good hands with Sammye. Fast forward 10 days later and the day came to pick him up and I couldn't wait to see him. I'll spare you all the details of baby talk, kisses, hugs, etc. but it was a joyous reunion that had us in awe of the things he had learned. We spent about an hour there learning the commands, how to reward them, and practicing before heading home. She worked wonders and we were so excited to go home and continue the work. Before leaving we scheduled our follow up in person training session for a couple weeks out so Sammye could come see him in his own environment and see if we actually kept up with the training which we did! He is doing great! No, he's not perfect and we're still working on certain things but he's a different dog in many aspects. He has a "place" for when we're eating and now does it without asking and gets "off" the bed when it's time (he's too big to sleep with us) so he has his own. Those are two giant wins for us and we can't thank Sammye enough! He learned so much more and we continue to work with him everyday. Karma was professional and quick to respond which is always something I appreciate. Sammye, our trainer, was a delight who was professional, caring, thoughtful, hard-working, and made Juice feel right at home (in her own home) while teaching him some manners. I can't recommend her enough! Juice definitely missed her and was so excited to see her when she came over which further solidified how amazing she was. Call Karma and ask for Sammye as your trainer. You won't regret it!
