I reached out to Yuppie Dog's behavioral specialist to get help with my two Pomeranians. They needed A LOT of work but I did let Mary know our biggest issues were excessive barking and overall obedience. They are aged 7 and 4, which I assumed was too late for help training wise, but I was reassured by Mary that their ages were not an issue. I opted for the doggie day school option which was $550 each for two dogs plus you have to pay the price of daycare for the days they attend. Doggy daycare includes 8 training sessions of an hour length, over the span of 4 weeks. I overall spent about $1800. The dog daycare itself seems good. They don't have cameras like some other facilities I'd used but my pups did not seem anxious at drop offs. Front desk staff were great. Mary and the other trainer, Adrianna, were very kind but my pups did not get much from the training overall. The main issue of barking could not really be addressed, as Mary said they did not typically bark at daycare. She gave me a couple of suggestions for home but barking is still a major issue at home. It is unfortunate to pay so much and not have my primary issue improve at all. From the 8 sessions, both dogs came out knowing the commands "look at me" and "sit". I think they also practiced a bit on walking on the leash but one of my pups has an issue with leash reactivity and that did not improve either. I'm not sure if they ever tried practicing walking them with triggers around. I'm not sure why the pups did not benefit much? If they were unable to help, I wish they had been transparent and not let me waste so much money. But after the sessions were complete I did have the concern that maybe they did not get their full time? Doggy daycare is $550 for each dog and they both should be getting a 1 hour training session per day each. They opted to train them together, since they do live together that would make sense. But I don't think they extended the sessions at all and worked with them for 1 hour each day together even tho I was paying for two separate sessions. There was also no discount for enrolling two simultaneously, which makes it unfair that their training times were basically cut in half. At the end of the sessions, Mary suggested we join group classes. But after seeing how little they benefited from doggy day school and knowing that once again there would not be a discount for me having to work with them both simultaneously, it just did not seem like a good investment. We've now switched to another training program with a different Houston company. It is costing the same price but I'm able to be present for every lesson and ensure they are getting their time. I'm also seeing progress much faster. The company also has a money back guarantee and a list of commands that most dogs have picked up by the end of the program. Yuppie dog does send a daily report card with photos, videos, and what they went over daily. But halfway through the program, they were still struggling with sit. At that point, I should have moved on but they make you pay for the entire program up front. I would just make sure expectations are made very clear from the beginning and there is a discussion on what will happen if expectations are not met. read more

When my "niece" Chi-Chi needed to be boarded while her parents were out of town, Yuppie Dog to the rescue. As I walked towards the door, all the dogs in the yard seemed so calm and quiet. There was a worker cleaning out the "pool" (which reassured me that they were a sanitary place). When I walked in, the lobby area was clean and the staff quickly acknowledged me. I told them I was there to pick up Chi-Chi and they all smiled and said they loved her and what a great girl she was! They immediately went to get her and began telling me stories about how sweet and well behaved she was :) When they brought her out, she looked so clean and happy. And they sent a cute letter with a pic (via email) which just added to the overall experience. read more

I am not normally one to write reviews, but felt this needed to be shared so others could make an informed decision on whether or not to send their dog here. When we picked up our dog from being boarded, her entire backside was covered in feces. This was shocking for a few reasons: 1. There was no attempt by the staff to clean it off of her 2. She did not have diarrhea upon returning home, which leads us to question how long she was left alone in order for this to occur. 3. She had open wounds all over her tail and backside from the irritation. I am shocked that Yuppie Dog had the audacity to return a dog to their owner covered in their own poop, and makes me not even want to imagine the neglect that goes on with nobody around. We immediately took her to the vet due to the open wounds she had. Our vet was also very concerned that Yuppie Dog would allow this kind of treatment and advised that we not take her back. read more

I've previously boarded my dog at Yuppie Dog and changed businesses after picking up my pup fully soaked from the rain. If it's pouring outside, one would assume common sense would prevail and indoor play would be offered, but common sense isn't a thing at this place. Today I picked up my friends 2 pups after an insanely negligent stay... they actually dropped 3 dogs off on Sunday and under their watch, one of the dogs died. How did this happen? It seems the staff is still conjuring up their story: the pet owner was given notice that her pup overheated and they advised indoor play, and completely downplayed the situation until Tuesday when they said she was no longer eating and needed to be picked up. Another friend picked her up, and was told they think she suffered a seizure (far more serious than getting too hot if you ask me)... she rushed her to Gulf Coast ER where she ultimately could not be saved. How this could happen when the owners signed the emergency care authorization form (allowing Yuppie to take the pet to the vet if showing sign of an illness) is beyond me. The obscene negligence is sickening and the audacity the establishment has to charge the owners for this type of "care" is beyond disgusting. If you care about the safety and well-being of your pet, do not bring them here! read more

We got married this past weekend and dropped our baby off to stay overnight on Saturday. Everyone was really nice and they took her out immediately to the play area. She seemed sad but it's her first time away from us so we expected that. We got pictures of her playing and felt more at ease. When we came to pick her up before noon on Sunday she was covered in piss. I couldn't believe it. We had paid for the puppy care package which was three walks a day plus the two playtime times. Our puppy is only four months old. We have to leave for five days and had her booked to stay there but something was telling me not to. I called and asked the girl and she kept repeating the package to me. I said no what time are they out to bed (6 or 7 she says) and what time are they woken up (6 in the morning). Are you kidding me?! 12 hours?! We paid for her to stay overnight for her to not even get taken out once in a 12 hour period? The puppy package was an extra charge we also paid for. I'm so upset about this. How traumatizing for our girl. read more

I tried boarding with Yuppie Dog and had a great experience! I have an 11yo Toy Yorkie, pretty chill. We tried a weds - Mon boarding visit. Things I liked; - staff members were just angelic! Sweet sweet people who love dogs. You can tell. -Supervised play. When I would come to pick up my baby, her camp counselor was there watching. My dog is typically antisocial, so it was fun watching her be a "Normal" dog!! -cute facility and bedding options -my dog came home EXHAUSTED. She had fun -Daily photos!!! Love them so much -free day/ evaluation. This can be kind of annoying as far as timing but it gave me a sense of comfort that my pup won't be around crazy dogs, or somewhere where she would be stressed out. Things I didn't like; -no cameras. Y'all need to get some cameras -photos stopped after 2 days. In their defense, when I asked for more I got one more photo. But as an owner, you constantly think about your dog when you are away from them. It is a great feeling when you have a cute photo and confirmation they are safe and happy. -pricing structure needs improvement. I am sure all the dogs are treated well, but disguising a $50/night avg rate as add on activities is dumb. But that's just their cheesy business plan to upsell!!! And I respect that!! But as a customer I will never really know if you are doing what I actually paid you to do. -choke leashes. I don't like them :( my baby is tiny and they did pick her up but it made me nervous. All in all- I'd recommend to a friend. My 5 lb killer was happy here to my knowledge, and was returned pretty clean (to my surprise) & in one piece. I'll be back Yuppie Dog!!!!! Thank you. read more

First and foremost the fact that you question the validity of my statement of providing reimbursement records attacking my character is appalling. I have attached pictures below of screenshots of my email sending in the receipt for the prescription on September 14th, 2020 at 4:34pm (with redactions of the last name as I value my personal privacy which you clearly failed to provide me with the same respect). As a small business owner, I recognize the need to protect your business, but when you do so at the expense of attacking a customer's integrity on a public forum and stating that my review contains "untruths" when it in fact does not, and stating that you have deleted my client profile before checking your records only shines a negative light on your company. 10/23/2019: So far I've had a great experience with Yuppie Dog. It's my first experience boarding him here and they've been so professional and friendly thus far. Kudos to Mary for being so patient with me. I'm a new daddy who gets horrible separation anxiety so I'm hoping they take good care of him when I'm gone. I'll update my review once I get back from my trip. 10/28/2019: UPDATE! I had a good experience boarding up my dog at Yuppie Dog. I gave them a 4 stars because I called for updates and was told I'd receive photos of him, but never did. Well, only on the first day. But that's so minuscule compared to security I received knowing he was just fine. Every morning I called to check up on his and Mary already knew it was going to be me. Again, she's the best and was very gracious to give me an update on my little one. I will say, my dog came back very exhausted. I'm sure he was just doggie day care wasted and that's fine. It took him a few hours to get back to his regular personality. Will be taking him to daycare soon so I'll update my review after doing so. read more

Boarded my 7 lb Pomeranian here 3 times... after 3rd experience will not be going back. I picked up my dog after a 4 night stay. He was brought to me with his entire underside and all 4 legs completely covered with dried urine and a very, very strong urine odor. This was very concerning as my dog never had an issue with urinating in a crate or when boarded before. He can hold his urine up to 12 hours without fail - and always has even in new environments. It's also concerning that no one took notice of this - he was supposed to be walked 3 times a day (I picked him up at 4:45 p.m.). When I went to the front desk to get a reason for this, I was only offered to "spray him down". I trusted Yuppie Dog to walk him as agreed and to put him in a clean environment. I'm very concerned that he was locked up for so long without a relief walk that he was forced to relieve himself in his kennel - which my 8 years of experience with him must have been a very, very long time. I sent this complaint to Yuppie Dog through their automated rating service - and a week later, still have never heard from anyone there. Definitely taking my business and recommendations else where. read more

I've been boarding my two terriers for several years only $20 for each dog. I've been gone at most 2weeks. I've had a pleasant experience. I bring their own food. I don't pay extra for day care- which is ?$20 extra a day. Their baths are a little pricey -@$35 for each dog so I usually just take them home for their post boarding bath. It's close to home and by the freeway so it's convenient and they have good hours. It's the only place I trust for my furbies!u read more

Yuppie dog is a great "go-to" for my dogs if I ever need to go out of town. My dogs come back happy as ever (unlike after being at other places) and the best part is that they send you a few picture pupdates the day of their first stay! My two were seen playing with another small dog. Ps - If y'all would do the picture update daily for people to be able to be at ease while away on vacation or business, I bet your business would sky rocket. Mylo's been coming here for over 3 years now. Since the pandemic, we've scaled back from 3x a week to 1x, but goodness does he show them how much he loves and misses them when we drop them off. Because of Harvey, we were stuck out of town, as we found out that Yuppie Dog was flooding and had to evacuate! Melanie, the owner, took 15 dogs to her house, including mine and I couldn't be more thankful! She sent me updates and pictures and when I could finally pick them up, she said "It's my job to take care of your doggies!" I just cried! I have been taking my 2 dogs here for boarding for the last two years. Yuppie Dog takes really good care of the dogs and lets them be boarded together at night so they can be comfortable and don't get lonely. I was always anxious about boarding because one of the dogs has pretty severe separation anxiety, but the yuppie dog staff takes really good care of them and will send photo updates throughout the stay to ease my nerves. This will definitely continue to be my go to spot for boarding! read more

I randomly adopted a dog last year with my girlfriend. She's the first dog I have ever owned and it was a major struggle initially. I was way in over my head. She had so much energy and some socialization issues. Yuppie Dog did a really great job taking care of her during day care and she learned to trust a lot of people that work here. Somewhere in the middle of last year, they also started occasionally sending pictures of Ginger to me during day care which always brightened my day. I boarded GInger during Xmas 2016 without any issues. I typically use Rover but every person I met on Rover ends up boarding way more dogs than what their calendar says for that specific day. Even though I'm paying more, I know that Ginger will at least get some walks and have some attention paid to her. I highly recommend Yuppie Dog and the people that work there. read more

Oh my jeez! The excuses from everyone at this facility is beyond ridiculous. I've boarded my dog many times here and have always asked for the heaven groom prior to pick up. This has only been accomplished TWICE successfully. Usually, I give detailed instructions over the phone (and in person) which doesn't matter because I still get calls saying they couldn't groom my dog because they didn't have instructions....um, what was the point of giving instructions repeatedly if no one is actually writing anything down? Talk about frustrating since this happens over and over. Not to mention, the time the groomer messed up and didn't groom him on the day she was supposed to. So, when I went to pick him up, it wasn't done. The level of excuses they rain on you when things aren't done correctly (and it's their fault) is a waste of everyone's time as is the major attitude they dish out. Grow up and own up to your slip-ups. In no way do I feel comfortable leaving my dog for days on end with ill-natured people that can't even follow simple directions. If they are that rude to me (who is paying them) I can't imagine what they do to my dog when I'm not around. They have lost my business for sure. In a town with many other boarders, groomers, and doggie day care facilities, there is no need to deal with incompetence and churlish behavior. read more

We've been using Yuppie Dog since Jan 2019 for their daycare and boarding. Sadie is always exhausted when she comes home. Mary was very accommodating to us and extended the expiration date on our daycare passes when Sadie had to recover from surgery (tumor removal) so we wouldn't lose them. The rest of the staff has always been very friendly and welcoming and I feel comfortable leaving Sadie with them. I do wish they had a live stream video camera online but I probably wouldn't get much work done if I was just watching my dog all day. read more

We love Yuppie Dog Daycare! It's been a life saver for my husband and me because our boxer has a ton of energy and day care is a great way for her to release her energy and stay socialized. Our boxer gets to go once or twice a week and she loves it. We cannot even say the words "Day Care" around her anymore because she gets too excited. The facility is clean and I know my dog will be safe and well cared for when we drop her off. The staff is friendly and you can tell that they all love dogs We have also used Yuppie Dog's overnight boarding and grooming services and both are fantastic. My only criticism is that it is pretty pricey (more costly than other daycares in the Houston Loop) but it doesn't bother me enough to deduct a star because you pay for what you get! read more

I've been taking my dog to Yuppie since 2014. Never had any problems with them and I love that everyone knows me and my dog. Unfortunately on our last visit, my dog was bitten. Yes, I know they are dogs, things happen. My issue with Yuppie is that they sent an email instead of calling me to tell me about the incident. I was traveling and hadn't checked my email. So when I picked my dog they never mentioned it. A few days later someone calls to inquire how he's doing after the incident. Again, generally my dog is fine, but for some reason he did have an incident and I wasn't happy with how I was informed of said incident. read more

This place is awesome! My boyfriend and i dropped our pups off for boarding for the weekend and were extremely excited to use Yuppie Dog. We've used boarding services before, specifically locations that are close to major airports and claim to be paradise....ahem. The last time I boarded my bigger dog, he came home in a funk and acted funny for a few days. The place we used seemed overworked and as if they didn't pay individual attention to the dogs. All of the five star reviews pointed me in the direction of Yuppie Dog for the weekend. We have a 50 pound ridgeback/retriever mix and a 25 pound deaf Eskie. Since our Eskie has special needs, we wanted to make sure she was in good hands. We filled out the paperwork on the website and also gave more information and double checked everything once we arrived to drop them off. From start to finish, Yuppie Dog was professional and worth the five stars. They knew our Eskie would be skittish and standoffish at first, but let her take her time to sniff around to get accommodated. When I went to pick them up they were excited and seemed like they had a wonderful time. They were so tired from all of the fun that they passed out as soon as we got home. We will definitely be using Yuppie Dog in the future! :) read more

I boarded my dog here for a weekend. He did one day of daycare which is an additional cost to boarding. I was a little disappointed with the daycare area. It's small and filled with just gravel. The salt water pool is cool. When I stopped by there, none of the dogs were playing in it. They just crowded in the small space around it. My dog is high energy and would like him to have more space to play. I think this place is a fine place to leave your dog, but it's not for my dog. I will keep looking for a better place. read more

So I'm reviewing the grooming, not the day care, because when I was waiting to pick up my dog from being groomed, a dog attacked another dog (read: bit another dog) and the staff was scrambling to fix the bite. So, I would not, unfortunately, take my dogs to the day care. The grooming was great though! I've never seen my dog look so much like a schnauzer than I did today. In fact, we were actually suspicious that our dog wasn't really a schnauzer, but ever since she was groomed we have been reminded. Also, the price for her was only $55, which based on a lot of the different grooming places was really inexpensive for the breed. read more

I took my very hairy collie here earlier this week--they got him in with short notice. They did a great job and their price was much more reasonable than other groomers we've been to. It took a little longer than normal (but I dropped him off late). The groomer called to confirm the "haircut" I wanted for my dog and I was impressed with how he looked. I picked him up during the evening rush of people getting their dogs from daycare and I was really impressed with their customer interaction--the staff knew which dogs belonged to each owner and seemed to really care about the dogs. While my husband and I were out of town we boarded our dog here for 4 nights. We decided here because... 1. It is in our neighborhood and like to support local business when we can. 2. I called and was sold on how well they assured me he would be taken care off. One walk in the morning, afternoon and night. Individual play time and of course feedings. My husband went to pick him up early Monday morning and our poor dog smelled like urine. You could smell the urine a mile away. His coat was full of urine like he had been sitting in it for who knows how long. I ended up calling right away and speaking with the manager and she said yes, he had a few accidents in the kennel. Well....ok....then clean it up! Makes me sad that they would allow my dog to stay in those conditions. Never again will we support Yuppie!!!!! read more

Yuppie Dog Daycare has reasonable prices and the staff seems to genuinely care about pets that are boarded. I've boarded my shih tzu here 3-4 times without any major complaints. The reason for the 3-star review is because on one occasion, they gave my dog back to me and he had a slight infection/inflammation on his paw. They said it was because his paws weren't being dried properly but he's never had this issue before. The person who gave my dog back to me, talked to me as if it were my fault that my dog had gotten this inflammation while he was staying there... They've stopped all grooming services apparently. I left my dog there fairly recently in early October for 3-4 days and I wanted to get him groomed while he was there, but they told me they don't offer grooming services anymore. Overall, my dog seems to do just fine. I still haven't asked to go back to their facilities to look in their back room (which I should do), but I haven't had any major issues. They listen to your requirements if you have any particular need for food/treats to give. read more

I am only rating them on their policy of not allowing you to register your dog for daycare (and I'm sure any other service) without faxing in your credit card information 48 hours ahead of time and they don't just want your number, they want your expiration date and security code from the back of the card. I spent about 45 minutes printing off all the forms and faxing in only to find that without all my credit card info, my package would not be submitted. Why not just save me and anyone else who does not give this info out the time and post it on page 1 of your website. I really can't believe that people agree to this. Don't they watch the news? I have no idea how they keep their records or who might have access to the fax machine. Have they heard of credit card fraud? I can assure you that once you have it happen to you, you won't be faxing personal credit card info to anyone. What business does this? Doctor's, lawyer's, hair stylist, vet's, restraint's, other animal daycares or groomers......NO! Seems very arrogant and unnecessary to me. read more
