Came in just before closing and got some de wormer for this homeless skinny black cat that seems to like me. Was able to pop in and out just before closing and get exactly what I needed in no time. Lots of efficient help here. I think good prices too - and faster than waiting for shipping in an urgent case. Lots of parking and in a shopping center that is convenient if you do shopping elsewhere. There is this homeless skinny black cat and I had the suspicious feeling he has worms - he is so friendly I was able to put Advantage on him and so I thought after that was taken care of a dewormer would be worthwhile. I like to call him 'The Husband' - he takes care of his wife - a callie cat - and guards the stairs from intruders as she eats. He really isn't interested in eating - I think he might do that elsewhere - but he likes to hang around and sit next to me after his wife eats and runs. He is so skinny and the two of them look sort of pathetic. Globs in their fur, probably diseases and fleas - but I like them. Due to their upper respiratory disease I have to be carful with them and not introduce their problems to my cat - but I still help them out best I can. I give them wet food and dry and Lysine from here to help with allergies or the URI. Probably in the future i will TNR them as Mrs Meow looks worn out from having children with this guy. Wow, this Petfood express is amazing and one of the best ones in the Bay! And I've gone to my fair share of PFE. What I like most about this place is their self wash station. A total of 5 tubs. 1 of which was like a shower so it was open which I think is great for a disabled person or disabled dog that may not be able to climb up into the tub. Yay for inclusivity! I also really like that they had a timer on the wall. Other places just have a clock. You get 25 minutes and once you reach the minute mark the timer makes an alarm sound to let you know you've got 60 seconds left. They also have bottles of shampoo out which was nice because I felt like I wasn't getting any through the hose. I came 30 minutes before closing and was surprised their pet wash was still open. I'm thankful they didn't turn me away because my pet wash would have been done just around the time they were about about to close. Their bakery items was fully stocked. Huge space and lots of great options! I don't live too far from here and I wouldn't mind driving all the way to this location just to use their pet wash again. Also buy 3 baths get 1 free so 4 baths for the price of $45. ($15 each). They've had this deal for the longest and it's worth it! read more

Let me start off by writing that I Love Pet Food Express! I usually go to the one on Mountain Blvd. and the staff there are helpful, provide great customer service, and are knowledgeable! As there was a power outage at my usual location, I called the store on Broadway and asked if they had crickets. The woman said they had crickets so my daughter and I drove over to pick up a few boxes. When we went to the section where they carry crickets, the shelves were empty. We asked one of the store team members about crickets and she said they were out. When we told her we called she went to the front desk to see if any were held for us. She asked the staff at the front desk if anyone called about crickets and a woman said that someone did call and that the store only had about 5 boxes left and just sold out. Wouldn't it have been nice for the store member to tell me that when I called? Or better yet to hold a few boxes for me? It would have been nice to receive an apology and maybe even a credit for a box of crickets for a future purchase for the trouble? Instead, I was advised to try the East Bay Vivarium. My cat loves their toys, and they have a good selection of high end food for her. It's my go to store. Very clean. They obviously know what they're doing. I found it hard to get a kitten here, but that's a good thing. I think if you want a kitten, they want you to take two. That's good for the older cats who need a home. I ended up getting the cutest, sweetest, most energetic kitten in the world at the Pleasanton SPCA. We got a new puppy and brought her to the VIP PetCare Wellness Center that's inside the store, while we were waiting to be seen by the Vet, we of course had to look around the store. There was a very nice women who works there (Her name is Heather) and she helped us pick out tons of awesome treats for our new puppy. She was so kind to us and our puppy, we decided to come back to this location for our puppies second round of shots. The Second time we came to get our puppies shots at the wellness center, she remembered us! She even gave our puppy some pets and treat samples and stopped by the wellness center to see how big our puppy has gotten. She remembered our names and helped us out again with shopping for awesome treats to give her. We've never had such a kind hearted employee treat us with so much love and respect. The location on Telegraph was at full capacity at the Pet Wash area so they called this location and let us know they'd be able to accommodate us. I'm so glad they did because this location has a handicapped stand up wash area along with the regular stations.. This is a game changer to not have to lift a dog that doesn't like baths. He's a big dog and he pancakes when a bath is in his near future so walking up steps to the pet wash was never going to happen. Maybe all Pet Food Express' have a handicapped pet wash area.. I haven't gone to many to notice. There's definitely one here. For Covid precautions, they did away with the aprons and replaced them with plastic disposable ones. They space out washers, closing every other pet wash to keep people at a safe distance. Lastly, blow dryers have been disabled and they offer extra towels to dry your pet instead. read more

I stopped in today after a day at the dog park to: 1) wash my Pomsky puppy 2) grab some Nulo puppy food 3) purchase a shed eliminating brush (lol) 4) replenish puppy treats 5) get a new "power chewer" chew toy Four different PFE staff professionals helped me in all areas of my visit. When I needed food and treats a young lady assisted me. When I needed a comb a gentleman helped me. When I needed a chew toy a younger guy helped me. Everyone was so sweet--maybe it was Zoe's charm??? I talked about Zoe's chewing issues (all Husky no Pomeranian--Pomsky problems at best). The guy told me he had a friend with a Rottweiler that took a month to chew through a certain toy so I was like: "YES!" "I want that toy!" 2 hours later: -chewed up -missing pieces/legs -puppy swallowed -puppy mom freaks out ;( I called the store and the manager listened to me re-tell my story, and I figured he'd remember us since we were just there. I didn't want anyone to think it took her overnight or even two days to chew through the new toy--I just can't drive back over tonight. The gentleman was kind, courteous and helpful. He told me just come in when I can and they'd refund me. #wow I'm actually not looking for a refund per se, just a tough toy for this crazy puppy to enjoy. Taken a few of my dogs to this place. And bought food there many of times. Clean,small,floor planing is good too. They even have a little area in the back to wash your dog. Comes with leashes to hold them in. My Molly will definitely need those when we decide to bring her in for a bath. Animals are required to have their shots up to date which I like. They have beds/name brand food/treats/toys. I completely forgot to Yelp about my amazing experience on 10/12 (I had to look up my bank transactions). I go to this store when my Bully needs her shots, as it's never the closest PFE to me, but it has the wonderful, permanent VIP clinic setup. No exam fee + affordable prices = thank you. My Bully girl was brave for her annual shots on our visit close to Closing Time. The techs loved her (because she's awesome). I then purchased her kibble as the staff loved on her, and headed to my car. It was another happy PFE experience under the belt. Until I got home and realized that, whilst I had taken time to secure my Bully into the car, the kibble hadn't been as lucky... I called the store and told the person who answered what happened. Of course they offered to go see if it was still in the parking lot (because it's PFE). Luckily, I had parked somewhat close and was able to easily describe its location, if it was still there. IT WAS! I returned the following evening for my kibble, which was being held at the registers, and bought some bully sticks while I was there. I usually go to another Pet Food Express that's closer to my house (which is also fantastic), but I took my dog Peanut here for vaccines because they have a convenient express clinic. The staff was so friendly and warm to my dog (I've taken her to a few different vets/clinics, trying to find the right ones and here they seem genuinely happy to meet each pup that comes their way) so that was great right off the bat. Most importantly, they did a much better job (as compared to the full-service vet) of giving me advice and guidance and explaining possible diagnosis/treatment options for the on and off sneezing my dog has had. Even though we were just there for vaccines and testing, they managed to do a significantly better job of examining my dog and giving advice compared to the full service vet with the fancy office. read more

They are both extremely knowledgeable and about as helpful as they come. This place is golden! The quality of the products easily beats other pet food stores. The products are not insanely priced (which you would think they would be), they are actually fairly affordable. Most anyone can afford to feed their animals something healthy, and that's a huge improvement from years ago. They seem a lot further in their industry experience than most other pet food stores, and offer a substantial variety, but not so many that I'm walking around for an hour feeling confused. This is our go to Pet store for all of our doggies needs. We have a doggie family that MAN our house 24/7. Even when we near our front door, you can literally hear all of them, howling and barking so loud, that it reverberates throughout our neighborhood. It's actually a bit too much, and I'm sure our next door neighbors can hear them inside their peaceful homes, and they must be thinking: 'Crap! The Yoo's need to shut those doggies up. And it seems they're home.' Pet Food Express however, loves all our doggies, and even if we brought them all howling in unison, they'd laugh and just smile. :P Whatever we need, and no matter how many questions we ask, all the time, they are very gracious to explain, and provide exactly what we came looking for. In addition, they may add a suggestion or two, and give out samples for us to try, that may make us purchase the sample the next time around. In a sense, they're like spiritual and mindful doctors for us disheveled, stressed out customers! They give off such warm and pleasing vibes of peacefulness, and a true sincere hand to help you out. Tip: From my experience, PFExpress may be pricier than Petvet Petfood just 2 min down the street on Broadway. However, if you bring a receipt from Petvet or a photo of the price tag, PFExpress will match (or beat in some cases?) the competitor price. I love this place! The employees are so friendly and helpful. As a new puppy owner, I needed a lot of help dealing with puppy problems, such as teething, chewing, and destructive behavior. These guys were amazing and had great suggestions/advice whenever I had a question or problem. They don't sell just pet food. They also have kennels, toys, medications, bitter sprays, bowls, toys, treats... pretty much all of the essentials that you'd need for a dog or cat. Also, their return policy is great! Within 30 days, you can return an item even if it's been destroyed or chewed up or half empty. The reason could be "My dog destroyed this too quickly" or "My pet has no interest in this" or "I tried using half the bottle, but it doesn't work." With a receipt, you can get a refund; without a receipt you get store credit. They also have "buy 3 get 1 free" specials all the time on certain categories, such as toys or treats. You can't mix & match between categories (like toys and treats) though. PS - They sell odor-free bully sticks here! The brand is True Chews - they are amazing because they have hardly any odor at all, especially compared to your run-of-the-mill bully stick that smells absolutely appalling. True Chews are my favorite bully stick brand - the dog loves it, and the owner loves that it doesn't smell like rotten poopy trash. read more

Crossed the Bay to meet a potential kitten for adoption. The opening staff members on July 3rd were exceptional. They did such a great job of helping me navigate an emotional decision. Kristen was especially warm, nurturing and relaxing devoted in her time with me as well as helping preoccupy my Golden Retriever while I spent time with the litter if kittens. Ultimately, I decided to come back the next day (July 4th) with my husband to help choose the perfect addition to our family and the staff was just as exceptional (Kristen was there as well). I took my pet in for a check because he was just adopted and he LOVED Dr. Emily Wilson. When we went back again because he had a hot spot and hoped we would get Dr. Wilson because she was sweet and was patient. But we saw Dr. Carly Smith and she was very rude and short. She prescribed Apoquel for his hot spot and he it helped the hot spot but as soon as he was finished with the Apoquel he started pooping blood and threw up. Unsteady I went to the emergency room and they said that Apoquel is a bit of an abrasive approach for a hot spot. Just like the way her demeanor was, was the Rx she gave my dog which hurt him in the long run. Overall for the store in general. I LOVE IT. It is clean and big and every associate makes sure to check in on you. The tubs are clean as well as the back with the doggy play is amazing! The training on Sundays are MAGNIFICENT! Worth the $25 each class and they are amazing. Only down side was Dr. Carly Smith. A definite turn away. read more
