Do not shop here. The store smells absolutely foul, and the bacteria causing the scent is "contagious." I used reptile safe cleaner on the items I purchased, and only two days after placing them in the tank, the entire tank smelled just like the store. 2 days after that it was the first thing I smelled when I stepped into my apartment. It took more than 5 hours to disinfect every single item, I had to quarantine my pet for a week, and ventilate the hell out of my apartment to get rid of it. The clothes I wore for 30 minutes in the store still smelled when I went to do laundry the next week. Excellent customer service but a terrible environment for the pets and employees alike. Absolutely terrible. Filed out the application to adopt, I was declined. I had a cat for 20 years, and a dog for 16 years. My pet kids came from the pound, saved two lives. What a stupid, foolish decision they made. They want them adopted but make it extremely difficult. I feel bad for the animals locked up in cages there. Wow we rolled into Pet Kingdom to check out all the exotic animals, first thing we saw were two huge cats who seemed to not care that we were paying them attention while they were lying on the counter (ho hum another day of people petting us). Well then we started to look at the many Reptiles and Snakes in the cages around the shop and the fat chubby Hamsters and Gerbils that of course in Hawaii we have none of, I especially liked the Water Dragon. We were trying to see the hedgehogs but unfortunately they were all sleeping awww... We did have fun petting the pot belly piglets and the Ferret and watching the Marsomet Monkey the shop did have a good variety of animals and toys and paraphenalia for them, Parking is pretty decent, I would love to browse the shop again. read more

[Review #187] I learned about Pet Kingdom USA through my ex almost 20 years ago... I was gifted 2 ferrets as Thanksgiving & Christmas presents. I loved my little balls of furry fun; they had personalities of a dog & cat - they follow you around & can learn simple tricks like a dog or ignore you & sleep away most of the day like a cat. Sadly, their life span was short, at most 5 years due to adrenal cancer, =*( which is common with ferrets on the west coast according to their vet. Over the years, whenever I'm in Las Vegas, I would visit PK to see what unusual animals are in-store, & I would notice the slow decline of space & care for their animals... overcrowding & dirty wood shavings (or whatever else is used for their "litter box") in the ferret tank, limited water for the beta fish (yes, they don't require much but it's hot & water evaporates; 1/2 cup of water isn't asking much), water bowls are dirty with food & litter shavings, etc. On my second to last visit, they had a gorgeous lynx. My boyfriend (now husband) said she was trying to get my attention; she stuck her paw through the cage & was reaching out for me. When I focused in on her, she pranced back & forth, & rubbed herself along the cage. I tried to pet her by rubbing her ears & scratching her neck; she had the loudest purr & most melodic meow. I fell in love with her but couldn't afford her (though I wished I had gotten her anyway & figured out how to pay off the cc debt). That was one of my biggest regret... it's been several years, but I still think of her & wonder if she is in good hands & if she's happy. We went to PK one more time after that, but it didn't feel right. There's a "no touch/hands off" policy, which I understand may be stressful to the animals if they're constantly manhandled when they need to eat, sleep, or rest; however, if the customer is interested in an animal, how will they know if they're a good fit if they don't feel them? There's a fine balance between an interested, potential pet owner vs. people just wanting to play with an animal. I've adopted several pets through the years, & I don't always decide right at that moment. The staff's rudeness & the continued downhill care of the Pet Kingdom USA animals is a such a turn-off that I'm not sure if I want to be a part of this realm. read more

I was looking forward to coming here thinking it would be a bit more well-kept than other pet stores. As soon as you walk in, it the strong odor of feces and poor ventilation is obvious. The reptiles cages were spacious and looked clean, but what was the most upsetting was the overpopulated and unkept ferret enclosures. The two enclosures we saw had 10+ ferrets housed in it with piles of feces in each corner. Again, barely any ventilation in there. The front cage had the whole top opened and still had such a powerful feces/urine coming from it. I can't imagine how terrible the back, fully enclosed cage must smell with the tiny slits of vents. There were times that the workers were just standing around or playing with the 1 puppy in the store, when maybe they could've spent that time airing out and cleaning the ferret enclosure? The exotic animals kept also looked to be stressed and constantly pacing (just like animals in zoos and circus animals). Also, how about waiting to sell and get homes for all the existing ferrets in your store before getting new shipments of baby ferrets every couple of weeks? I was hoping to purchase a ferret from here but I worry that I would be getting one with some kind of upper respiratory issue due to how they are taken care of. I'm hoping that maybe we came in on an "off day" of their housekeeping or pet care, but it was quite saddening seeing this today. read more

Located across the street of their old location which seems a bit smaller. This was the first pet store that I actually seen a marmoset monkey and hedgehogs. If you're interested in reptiles and birds then this is the place for you. As for me I'm into the aquatic creatures which they lack of. Only saw couple fighting fish but they do have a few supplies as well. Parking is right out the doors and usually they are not busy. They got two cats that roam the store which entertains the guest if not for the monkeys. Customer service was ok, and the only reason why I say that is because we asked to see the hedgehog which a female employee allowed us to hold it, but I guess the hedgehog got spooked and decided to attempt to jump out our hands. The lady thought we was playing around since we were startled as well. She took the hedgehog back saying it's not a toy like we did it on purpose. Tiny little super cramped store located in the .99 Store strip mall offering more wild animals that I could have imagined. Lots of snakes and lizards, monkey, and tiny turtles, mice, rabbits, hedgehogs, giant black scorpions, a kitty-cat for FREE to a good home and a couple of doggies. No little pigs on this visit. Was hoping to see a siamese kitten but no luck. This place is FAAAAR from my hood, and a bit sketchy but despite the distance from Summerlin if you're coming from that direction, it may be worth a peek if you're in the market for something other than a parakeet. We saw a tourist-alert card for this exotic pet store that has MONKEYS, and we had some time to kill, so bf and I paid them a visit. Unfortunately, they didn't have any monkeys today (more to come in November-ish), but we did see: Hedgehogs Sugar gliders Ferrets Chinchillas A pink pig Bunnies Rats (with and without hair) Puppies Snakes Chameleons Turtles Kittens (boring, compared to the other stuff) The card we had offered us a 10% discount on any pet purchase, but unfortunately I couldn't convince bf to let me take the pig home. Spent over an hour browsing the store today, and chatted with the owner for the majority of the time. While we talked, she continued working hard and cleaning all the cages. She puts a lot of effort into caring for the animals, and loves them very much. We talked at length about her rescues in the store and at home. Those cats you see loose in the store? They're all rescues. The marmosets? Rescues. The owner has a huge heart. You won't find extreme exotics, like marmosets or kinkajous, for sell here because the owner knows people buy them as cute little babies, but before long they're difficult to care for and require care greater than most of us would provide. So yes, she chooses animal welfare over profits. Incredible. We were visiting by plane today, but will definitely drive out and visit again - so we can take something home! read more

One of the few pet places that deserves a good rating. The people here know about the animals and want them to go home with people who are prepared to take them when they buy them. They usually mix it up and have various exotic animals. They had a cute coatimundi once. I wanted to buy their marmoset, but that's a huge commitment and the price tag is insane. They have a nice selection of snakes and reptiles. Hedgehogs, sugargliders, etc. 1) Screw Paris Hilton. 2) Ferrets can be descented and as long as you clean them and their habitat, they don't really smell. I rescued ferrets and worked at a pet store for a while. My brother had 3 ferrets. Pet Kingdom USA actually does a great job at keeping the store/cages/tanks clean, which is more difficult than it looks. read more

First the incident with my rat dying and poor customer service and lack of knowledge.. Now this. THIS IS A PLACE YOU GONTO BROWSE AND THAT IS IT! That will be the only reason I return, because my kids enjoy looking at the animals. I go in to buy crickets and I ask what sizes and she tells me I can look so I do and the "small" are like little specs.. The "large" are a mix of regular size and GIANT AS FUUUUUUUUU!! So I ask if she can give me 2 dozen but I cannot have any giant ones because my leopard geckos won't eat them. She says okay. Hands them to me in a brown paper bag. I get home and I am trying to dump them in the tank and it took 10 minutes because they were all clung to the paper bag! I look in and there are at least 6 GIANT ones, a few teeny tiny ones, oh and a random worm caterpillar looking thing (gross). I've bought crickets many times many places and these thing are disgusting, so gross. They all shed their skin and rolled it into a huge cricket skin ball, what the actual fu?! Not only are they gross but they literally fight my geckos.. I know they aren't willingly going to get eaten but my girl is having a hard time eating at all. I have never experienced anything like this. This is a damn petting zoo not a pet store. Don't waste your money. read more

I got to pet a pot belly pig!!!! (on this visit) I always stop here to look around, due to our pet stores lacking anything really "exotic." The staff is always super friendly I ask 20 million questions while I'm ogling over all the neat animals. They are jam packed with a large selection of different gadgets for pets, along with the necessities, and animals of course (which all look very well kept and healthy). I went to this pet shop a month ago despite other negative reviews because it seemed to be the only exotic pet shop that had pet rats in my area however the owner is a disgrace the shop was cluttered and not many customers. I bought two 5 week old female rats. I already had 2 for a few months. She keeps the rats all in one tank. Both rats were pregnant I didn't know this buying them. One gave birth then died a week later then slowly despite my best efforts the babies died then the other had a miscarriage perhaps because she was so young leaving me with blood everywhere and then died the next day. I've read other reviews saying she's the new owner but she apparently doesn't know or care what she's going she deserves to be shut down. So much death she brought into my life. Don't buy rats from her. Idk probably goes for the other animals as well. read more

BEWARE: My daughter and I came just before Christmas last year 2017. I bought 2 love birds and my daughter bought two rats. 2 1/2 weeks after settling in, one rat died. It was a horrible death, poor thing gasped for breath until it died. The second rat got a runny nose two weeks later and I took it to the vet. Went through 10 days antibiotics, three days later she started tilting her head, next ear infection and another round of antibiotics. Now she has discharge from her eye and it is stuck shut several times a day. Good God! Tragically today I came home to find one of my love birds dead at the bottom of the cage and they other frantically chirping. Something is seriously wrong here! 2 out of 4 dead and one constantly sick. Please consider carefully before purchasing pets at this store. I am just heartbroken and will be updating this review should any more tragedy come the remaining two animals UPDATE: Maria the owner had the audacity to accuse me of ill treatment of the animals that died Honestly, find yourself an animal breeder for whatever your choice of pet! You will spend a bit more, but save in the long run either on medicine (not having to administer it) or heartbreak for you and especially your children! I guess I can understand the 10 day death policy, this store would go bankrupt with a longer time frame and my guess is they KNOW that! read more
