Happy Tails pet sitting is wonderful! They are very conscientious - do an interview with your dog and send texts and pictures while you are gone so you know everything is fine. Vixen, our 7 year old Doberman had never stayed at home while we've been away, we've always had her stay in someone's home so we weren't sure how she would do with only visits. My security system notified me of a door opened at 4:00 a.m. in the middle of my vacation. I wish I could say I trust this service. On or about 1/16/2023 my wife and I contracted with Jesus Alvarez [HA] and Happy Tails Canine Services [HTCS] to obedience-train two Havanese puppies that we had purchased from a local breeder. The puppies were "pee-pad" trained by the breeder. Mr. Alvarez assured us that both puppies would be toilet and obedience-trained in two [2] weeks and that if the training for one or both puppies was inadequate, additional on-site training would be provided by HTCS at no additional cost. We paid JA half of the global fee of $4,180 and left both puppies with JA on 1/16/2023. We were contacted by JA on 1/29/2023 and instructed to pick up the puppies the next day. We offered to leave one or both puppies with HTCS for additional time if JA felt that it was necessary; however, JA assured us the the puppies were professionally, properly and appropriately trained and required no further obedience training, just building upon the existing foundation. Based on JA's assurances, we paid JA the $2,090 balance due. Furthermore, in light of JA's assurances, on 1/30/2023 our daughter flew from HPN to PBI to pick up one of the puppies which had been purchased as a birthday gift for our ten year old granddaughter. She returned to HPN later that same day at considerable expense [i.e., in excess of $1,000] to bring one of the puppies home to our granddaughter in Connecticut. Let it suffice to say that both puppies were inadequately trained. Hence, we have lost confidence in Mr. Alvarez and don't desire any further services from him. Inasmuch as both puppies are not professionally and appropriately obedience-trained, we have lost faith in JA and HTCS. We have discovered that Mr. Alvarez suggested and utilized what our veterinarian has characterized as unorthodox and potentially deleterious methodology, including the restriction of water intake to minimize urination. As indicated above, our daughter expended over $1,000 in flying from HPN to PBI and back to pick up our granddaughter's puppy. Furthermore, our daughter has been forced to put the puppy up for adoption in light of the puppies absence of obedience training. Moreover, we shall now be forced to engage the services of a reputable dog trainer to properly train one or both puppies Hence, we have been the victims of a material breach of our contract with HTCS by JA and HTSC as the promissor who didn't professionally or otherwise obedience-train either puppy. We, Jane and Barry Kels as promisees have suffered emotional and economic harm in the amount of $8,000 or more in money damages. In Feb I started working in Midtown and needed someone to let my dog out for a mid-day potty break. After checking out their website and reading the sitter profiles I was impressed and made a meet n' greet appointment. I was nervous, Sasha's very protective of me, my husband, and the house - if he meets a stranger at the pet store he's all waggy tail and goofy grin, but someone comes to the door and he's Cujo. Elizabeth assured me that Sasha's not the only dog like this and gave me instructions for when Sheila and Maggie arrived. So Sasha's in the office with my husband where he can see the driveway, front door, and living room through the glass French doors. They pull up to the house and the barking, howling, and growling starts. So I let them in and we stand by the door for a minute and introduce ourselves, ignore the barking, and make sure he sees me give them a few slices of cheese. We go to the living room and they sat on the couch while I stayed on the other side of the room (so they were no threat to me). Chris let Sasha out and they don't look at him, just keep talking to us while he checks them out. He knows they have cheese, so he sits, does the cute thing with his ears, and tilts his head to one side...and he's got two new best friends! Sasha had a bad fall a few years ago and had a bad leg that he sometimes drags. So since they wouldn't be walking him, just letting him out the back door to potty, I didn't expect them to stay for the whole 30 minutes, just potty and leave. But they do stay the whole time and sit in the yard with him, play with toys, give him belly rubs and treats, and leave a "Pawgress Report." Maggie and Sheila are great with him and will text or call me if something seems strange, like "He was panting and acting nervous when I got here. Was he ok this morning?" And twice Sheila has gone to the house for an emergency dinner potty break - once when Chris and I were stuck on 400 for two hours due to a multi car crash, and once when the exhaust system was stolen off my car in a parking garage and I didn't get home until midnight. Both times I sent a panicked text to everyone and Elizabeth assured me that if Maggie or Sheila couldn't get out there, somebody would. Two weeks ago Sasha hurt his bad leg and we ended up having to amputate it. So he was in the hospital for one week and Chris worked from home this past week. For the past two weeks I've been getting texts and emails from Sheila and Maggie asking how he's doing and sending good wishes, and yesterday Maggie stopped by with cookies and toys! So yeah, they are awesome and I love how they take care of my baby. If I had a tail, it'd be happy :) read more

My husband and I have been using Happy Tails for over a year for our 5 dogs, 3 cats and 2 turtles. The service they offer is second to none and they are very professional. I love that our fur babies get to stay in the comforts of their own home while we are on vacation. It allows us to relax and not have to worry about them because we know that they are in good hands. It took over an hour for these people to track down our sitter to find out she wasn't coming to our scheduled meet and greet. Its took multiple phone calls to their facility to get any clear information. I can understand a family emergency as much as the next guy, it's why we needed this service in the first place. But to not contact your job or your client....to make the client have people track you down? How can I trust a company that hires people that can't be responsible enough to inform their clients that they will not be able to make their appointments? I certainly have no faith that I'll be contacted immediately if anything were to go wrong. I've never had to hire a stranger to care for my animals and this is the worst first impression. read more

The last time we went on vacation, our dog boarding fees were more than what we spent on ourselves for housing! So we decided to give in-home dog sitting a try. Not only did we pay a third of the cost of boarding our dogs at Happy Tails but the pups got to stay in the comfort of their own beds. Our sitter Carol was absolutely amazing! She would send us updates and pictures of the dogs and when we got home, we found a daily journal of the dog's activities! She also brought in the mail and watered our plants (another bonus of in-home sitting!) We thought the dogs would have missed us terribly but when we got back, they acted as if we had just gone to the store for a little while - and that's a GOOD thing! Over the Thanksgiving Holiday I had to travel to another state in a moment's notice. One call to Happy Tails and Elizabeth took care of everything for me. Maggie came to my home early one morning to meet and greet my cat so that I could leave. While away I called to say that I would be delayed and was assured that Cookie would be taken care of . Maggie sent me pictures of Cookie which eased my mind. I spoke with Elizabeth several times throughout my trip and was always treated in a friendly and professional manner. While away I experienced the most difficult time in my life due to my Mother's passing, but knowing that Cookie and my home were taken care of by Happy Tails while away was of great comfort to me.
