I have used pet paradise in the past and had good experiences. however, this past weekend, I had two of my pets scheduled to board overnight. I received a text and email that they needed updated vaccination records. I got the information from the vet and emailed them. I told them if they needed anything further to let me know. I called the same afternoon to make sure the booking was confirmed and I received confirmation. I received multiple emails and texts reminding of my booking. when I arrived to drop my pets off, I was told a vaccination was out of date and they couldn't stay. why wasn't this communicated to me before when I had time to correct it? they put me in a very bad situation as I had nowhere to take my pets. this process needs to be changed and I would not recommend their service until it is read more

Warningg Our FULLY VACCINATED pup spend 3 days at Pet "Paradise" Charlotte location and after everything I feel Like I just sent her to jail rather than "paradise." I When we picked her up we were told she had an amazing time, that she made friends with other dogs and got all her extra play times by a male and women staff member. We noticed she was a little greasy and very smelly, she was supposed to have a bath but we picked her up a hr early so they told us they hadn't gotten to it yet. When we dropped her off and picked her up we were told she had a indoor/outdoor "suit" with turf. A day after picking her up, she showed signs of kennel cough. We took her to the vet and she not only had a fever but kennel cough, the vet also noticed that it looked like she had been sitting in her own pee due to her skin on back legs. I reached out to corporate and asked to be called by a manager about her stay. When they called I found out she had gotten NO playtime except for 20 min that was one on one with someone, she had never played with any dogs. Her "suit" was not turf, CONCRETE ON BOTH SIDES. How is a dog supposed to go to the bathroom on concrete then not be in their own filth!?!??!? Idc if an animal has a scheduled bath or not you can at least rinse them down if they are covered in their own pee or poop.....its called being a good person. So instead of boarding her in "paradise" I just sent her to jail to get her sick. Don't know what has changed but this once really great facility has gone downhill! Boarded our two dogs for 4 nights , picked them up on Sunday only to find them covered in poop . They insisted they had bathed them, and one was a little damp, but they were disgusting. Got refunded on baths but felt that the good care they once received was sorely lacking. My two small dogs stayed at Pet Paradise last weekend 2/17/23-2/19/23. While staying there, one of my dogs got an infected eye. The white part of his eyeball was bloodshot red, had dried green discharge on the inside corner of his face, and he struggled to keep his eye open. When they gave him back to me, he was shaking and painting as if in pain when we got to the car. I took him back into the facility as I had not left the parking lot yet. When I showed one of the managers, Holly, his eye, she said it was just a bit irritated and a little red. She took him back to rinse the green crust out his eye and brought him back to me. She kept rubbing his head as I was holding him and said perhaps it happened before my dogs had gotten there. That was not true because I had checked both of my dogs before dropping them off. She wouldn't take responsibility nor did she acknowledge that the incident happened on their watch. She asked me to show another manager, Sarah, his eye as she (Holly) continued to minimize how bad his eye was. I said to Holly, no his eye is blood shot red and he is in pain. Holly walked away and Sarah apologized for the condition of his eye. Holly's dismissive behavior made me question if my dogs had been paid attention to during their stay. Also, given that the discharge was green, dried and crusted onto his eye, indicated that my dogs were neglected while there. I'm very dissatisfied with the way I was treated when attempting to rectify the problem. I'm also extremely disappointed with the condition my dog was in when they were returned to me. Due to this unacceptable service and for my pets' safety, won't trust Pet Paradise with my pets' stay in the future. read more

We left our senior fur baby, Romeo, in the care of Pet Paradise for one week. After 5 days we received a call that he was lethargic and they wanted to take him to a local emergency vet. We approved and headed home waiting on the call from the vet. The vet said Romeo was severely dehydrated, using the words "shriveled like a raisin", to describe him. When we picked him up from the vet, he was on a stretcher and suffering from kidney and liver failure, completely unable to life his head, let alone walk. We took him to our personal vet who was in contact with the emergency vet and that day we had to make the decision to put Romeo down and say our final goodbyes. The manager at Pet Paradise told me they were looking into this and they weren't sure what happened, but promised a follow up by the house vet and District Manager. I have given them 3 weeks and not a call or email. I called and talked to the manager again last week and found out they STILL hadn't mailed our Romeo's collar and leash back (which was promised to be done the day he died). I was told they just had a meeting regarding this and I would hear something right away- still nothing. If this is the care and regard they have for taking care of your family member, please beware. It's heartbreaking enough to say goodbye. It's devastating to have to beg them to mail your animals collar and leash home and ask for answers a month later. read more

As we returned to Charlotte on Wednesday May 31 we received a text shortly before we left Charlotte Douglas airport. Apparently one of our younger dog had an allergic reaction and had literally licked the skin off of one of his paws and was working on the other 3. We find it hard to believe from the photos below that this just happened on the last day. In short, we are not upset our dog had a reaction to something, we are upset because we pay Pet Paradise to watch our dogs and they failed at it. Had they been paying attention to our little Max he would not have suffered such issues. To top it off, after paying a $500+ kennel bill, they directed us to the on sight Vet where we incurred another $400. Shameful! read more

If you love your pet, you will avoid this place at all costs. Our pet, Cody, has visited Pet Paradise several times before his last two horrific visits -- and seemed to have responded OK with his sporadic visits from 2018 until recent. But be warned, he has returned home sick TWICE from his last two consecutive stays. Once with HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis), a very serious illness caused by bad bacteria in the intestines, and he was close to death over three excruciating days! I couldn't -- with a good conscious -- assume his HGE diagnosis was from his stay at Pet Paradise so let it go after several touch-and-go days with him pooping blood and vomiting. His previous stays there were no issues. We picked Cody up from Pet Paradise after a short weekend and drove to the NC mountains. He had diarrhea in his car seat on the way up and was panting non-stop. We figured it could be stress-related from being at Pet Paradise for a long weekend away from us. But later that night everything changed. Vomiting and diarrhea continued into the next day -- and then the bloody diarrhea started. We panicked -- found a vet in Boone and went there immediately. He was severely dehydrated, had to be on several meds, a bland diet, and we were told "he will either get past the HGE, or he won't". That the next couple of days were critical. He survived and we were on the fence as to whether his sickness originated at Pet Paradise. Fast forward several months -- we aired on giving Pet Paradise the benefit of the doubt and we were so incredibly stupid to do so. We were flying out of the country for a week and a half and our normal pet sitter was out of town over the Labor Day weekend but said she could pick him up from Pet Paradise on Sunday when she returned. We dropped him off on Thursday evening so he spent a total of 3-nights there. She picked him up and it was almost an exact REPEAT OF OUR LAST EXPERIENCE. He started vomiting, panting and had diarrhea almost immediately after he was picked up. We were out of the country and she was panicked as to what to do. His regular vet was closed on Monday for Labor Day so I called Pet Paradise for two reasons -- 1) to let them know our pup was sick again with what seemed like another case of HGE, and 2) what were they going to do about since I was calling from 6 time-zones away, my pet sitter was panicked, his regular vet was closed --and-- if they could help me remedy the situation from afar that they had caused from apparent unsanitary conditions. I spoke with Sarah (one of many staff members I spoke with over several days), but I first emailed Eddie, the GM (who never responded after asking for him to call me by email and phone several times). Sarah was nice, said she wanted to help, and mentioned they had a vet onsite that Cody could see. She said she would setup the appointment with our dog sitter. I was grateful. He was seen, was told to be given a bland diet, given meds, was dehydrated, and sent home. The vet or vet tech told our dog sitter "that he got into something or ate something at Pet Paradise that he most likely wasn't supposed to" and to watch him and bring him back if he didn't get any better. Two sleepless nights and three days of up and down with diarrhea -- constant check-ins with the pet sitter from 6 time zones away, and he got better. Thank goodness. To add insult to injury, Pet Paradise not only charged me (again) ~$200.00 for a stay but ~$300.00 for a vet visit!!! When Sarah said "they wanted to help". He got sick there and they should be responsible for his treatment the SECOND TIME! I tried to call them from France, I spoke with several employees, got some broken promises of return calls and now, silence. Figures. It's a money-printing machine with unsanitary conditions. I would really like to understand the amount of animals in their care that have returned home sick, or later died, from their neglect. I plan to contact Axios and the local news bureaus to make them aware of my experiences because others may have shared with them similar experiences. I do not want another pet parent who loves their animals like their own child(ren) to risk a stay at this place. You may be sorry. I did receive a call from the onsite vet (or vet tech) to ask how Cody was recovering. I told her, like I told the others, that I was really concerned with how we were being treated by Pet Paradise offering to "help" and then charging us for a vet visit to treat an ailment that he did not arrive at Pet Paradise with. She listened to me and then shockingly said "that Cody got sick because he is an old dog and not a candidate for boarding". That's it. Completely different than what was told to my dog sitter when he was seen there a couple of days prior. Stay away, please. We got lucky twice and I'm thankful. The areas we can't see past the lobby drop off must be unclean and the animals neglected by staff. The whole situation is tragic. read more

This place is awesome! My dogs have been in daycares since they were puppies so I have high expectations for daycares. We just recently moved to Charlotte and found this daycare on yelp. The facility looks like a hotel, feels like one, and smells clean. Many other dog daycares we have tried in Charlotte give our dogs back smelling like urine which I can't stand. This place has so many workers they are excited and willing to help you get setup. I also loved that they give you a tour. They have 3 different play areas for dogs of all sizes. Out of 5 different daycares I have sent my dogs to over the years this is by far our favorite! On Wednesday's they will even bathe the dogs and give you all day play for 25.00! Love this read more

I would not recommend boarding your dog here. I was extremely hesitant to board our puppy here to begin with after reading some negative reviews and now wish I had listened to my gut. Our 4 month old puppy was only boarded here 3 days, and caught kennel cough despite being fully vaccinated for Bordetella. When we came to pick her up, they literally brought her out coughing & wheezing. The staff seems spread thin and disorganized. At check in, the front desk could not give us a firm time as to when our puppy would be taken out throughout the day, including the extra play time that we paid for. This is a red flag when you're boarding a young pup for their first time. We will definitely not be boarding our puppy here again. read more

My dogs are the ones that are absolutely crazy for the Pet Paradise in Charlotte Airport. One of my dogs has just turned 5 months old and if I would let her she would go to Doggie Day Care everyday; even if she had to walk the 15 miles to get there. I love it too. My dogs are well cared for and happy when I pick them up. In fact, at times I think they would just be happy to stay at the Pet Paradise. Pet Paradise cares for a lot of people animals and I read the reviews that people have written on here and other places. At times something happens. Example: my 5 month puppy still will peep in her sleep so she has a wet bottom and it may happen after her bath. Even being fully vaccinated, my puppy or my older dog can still get sick. This is totally the only place I feel safe leaving my two service dogs. And yes, service dogs deserve a day off too. read more

I think this place is great. We have two fur babies and one is considered a bully breed but she is a sweet sassy little thing who loves to give kisses. I love the fact that they have cameras but I wish they would cover a little more outside. I love the way the hotel rooms are set up because they allow my babies to get outside rather than being cramped in a room. They even have a pool!! Yes I would recommend this place because I can see the care they provide and how they give updates when you call. We went out of town and when I called to check in I was told they wouldn't eat so the team gave the pumpkin and chicken on their food which helped them to eat. I've boarded my dog here often due to traveling for the military and I thought everything had been okay during that time. Apparently not. I moved to a different state and when I went to board her at the new place, I was told it would be an extra $600 because she had to be kept separate. This took me completely by surprise. She's a sweet playful pup who loves to play with other dogs. I was never told that she had any issues. The few report cards that I did get stated that she was playful and had fun. Flashback to the first time I boarded her here, I was checking out and just happened to look over at her papers over the counter and it had "ALONE" written at the top. I asked the staff what that meant and if there had been any problems. They told me that they didn't know why that was written there but she did great. I called back days later to confirm and they still stated that there were no issues. Well now I can see that this random charge is being added now because they had coded her as "incompatible" from that first visit. I was never notified, I was never charged for this before, they never mentioned that she was separated from group play, or that she had any problems. I thought she was having fun and making friends (as the staff stated). The staff at the new place mentioned that those "friends" could be employees. I looked back at the report cards I had and sure enough they only listed chaperones and mentioned "one on one time". I thought that meant that the staff had played with her during group or in her suite (in addition to group play). Nope. Now I'm devastated putting it all together to find out that this whole time she was kept in her cage for most of her time there. Not to mention that she's had cuts, eye infections, and other illnesses after staying at this location. All of which I blamed myself bc I thought it was due to the frequency that I had to board her. At the very least, she's always been stinky and lethargic when I pick her up and I always chalked it up to her being worn out from playing more and getting sweaty etc. All that to say: don't take your animals here but if you do, follow up on everything and don't assume or give the benefit of the doubt for anything. read more

Ill start this review by saying this is only the 2nd time I've had to board my now 14 yr old pug. Prior to December of this year, my friends or family watched him but over the summer he developed epilepsy so now I don't leave that on anyone and refer to experts for care. The first time I had to board him did not go well but it was not at Pet Paradise. A friend referred me to Pet Paradise by the airport and I'm glad I brought him here. My dog needs multiple medicines two times a day; 730 am and pm. Well this location does close at 7 so I emailed the manager while out of town and asked when he would get his medicine at night and she emailed right back and said they would give at 7 if that was ok, and it was. Also, that first day he needed medicine at night there was a question on the directions I provided so they called me to confirm which I also appreciate. I knew they were on it with all that communication. It helped me enjoy my weekend more! I sprung for the jr suite so he had tv, extra play and puppy ice cream. He really enjoyed it. I got to check Facebook for pictures of him making friends which was a cute touch. I also labeled his food he got three times a day and as far as I know, all went off without a hitch! I got a sleepy, worn out pug back and he was sleeping off all the fun all sunday afternoon and night. I had nothing but good things to say about this place and their staff! Please be advised when boarding your dog. My husband and I contacted this location to inquire about boarding our dog during an upcoming trip. We were excited to see that they offer a discount for flight crew members but were told that our baby would ONLY get two 30 mins "breaks" during the day. We would have to pay extra money on top of the daily boarding rate if we wanted him to have more time outside. This would be torture! We usually board our dogs with our family veterinary practice. Last week, we decided to give Pet Paradise a try. We toured the facility beforehand and asked a lot of questions to make sure the environment was well suited for our babies. We had them with Pet Paradise for five nights before receiving that dreaded phone call that there had been an accident. Somehow (big question mark) an unaltered male dog was able to bite one of my dogs ears off. Yes. You read that correctly. My dog is now missing a chunk of his ear. The odd part is that it wasn't during play time. All of the dogs were seemingly safe in their own confined areas. How did this happen? We were told it was a freak accident. That doesn't make us feel better. They did the right thing by getting him emergency veterinary care and even footed the bill. The manager had no problem charging us for the entire stay and didn't even offer us a discount even though we left the facility with one dog missing a chunk of his ear with several bite wounds on his head and other ear. Needless to say, even though accidents happen, this one shouldn't have. We will continue to use our local family veterinary facility for boarding in the future. Tried to call 5 times at various hours and no one ever picked up so I had to cancel since I'm not driving all the way there for a maybe. Pet Paradise is new on the dog boarding scene and honestly I can't remember where I heard of it first. But it is so convenient I just had to give it a try (twice now). They are a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the airport, so it wins major points for that. Nothing worse than driving an hour to drop your pooch off before leaving for the airport. They also have a partnership with a Park 'n Fly - new customers get free parking with boarding. Granted this only saves you a few bucks a day, but it's still a nice amenity. Now enough about my selfish self, what about the dogs? Well, they let you put 2 to a run, which is nice (the second pet is about half the price). Your furry buddies can sleep in the same room! They also include outside play time with other dogs in the price - not this a la carte business so many places do! You can bring their own food, or not, and I can tell you they give the dogs lots 'o treats while they are there (based on the empty bags that have come home). As far as "doggie jail" as I lovingly call it goes, I think dogs approve. Other things I like...they have late night potty breaks, you can add a bath on the last day, they are SUPER friendly when you go or call (plus they seem genuinely happy), and they have a manager who lives on site. That means there's always someone there in case of an emergency, and by appointment, you can pick up your dog whenever! You do have to pay for the day if you pick up after noon, but I still appreciate the fact that I can pick up on my schedule. Some places are so strict about that! My dog Chloe stayed at Pet Paradise in Charlotte from June 6, 2014 through June 14, 2014. I was impressed when I initially dropped off my dog. However, do not be deceived by the pristine outward appearance. It's behind the scenes that should scare you. When I picked up my dog, she was not herself. During her 8 day stay at Pet Paradise, Chloe lost 5 lbs. She came home and would not eat her food. Chloe had very bad diarreha. Additionally, Chloe came home limping. When I emailed Pet Paradise, I received a response that suggested I feed Chloe rice to help with her upset stomach. The email response was not even addressed properly to me. Which further indicates their lack of attention to detail. My pets will not be staying again at Pet Paradise. read more

We had our two dogs stay here for 4 days while we were out of town for the weekend. Over the course of the weekend, we called a total of 50 times and never managed to speak to a single person. We called every number available, even other locations and asked to be transferred and every time we went to voicemail. When we told this to the receptionist, she told us we should have emailed. Im sorry, how does your staff have time to answer emails but not the phone? Why did you give us a phone number when we dropped them off then? Not only was it stressful to not be able to check on our dogs but it also caused a problem when we got there to pick them up. We told the receptionist we would be there to pick them up by 4pm so they needed their baths before then. We got there at 4pm and neither dog had gotten a bath yet. If we had been able to get through to someone and remind them what time we were coming that wouldn't have happened. So, after spending all day in the car, we had to wait there for 30 minutes while they gave our dogs their baths. Our poor pups were still soaking wet when they brought them out to us. It seemed like they just hosed them off so they could rush us out of there so we would stop complaining in front of their other customers. Needless to say we will not be bringing our dogs here again. read more

We have used Pet Paradise for our 3 dogs on a number of occasions. They spent several nights in the "presidential suite" which I call the "doggy Hilton" all 3 get to stay in the same indoor room with a TV and we get to bring their own beds. They get ice cream once a day special play time and a bath before we pick them up...talk about pampered. They have a number of webcams so you can look in on your dogs while you are away which gives great peace of mind. All 3 of ours go to the groomer at Pet Paradise every 7 weeks. Elizabeth does a great job. They love going, and she is very good with the dogs. They always look spectacular when we pick them up and to top it all off they are less expensive than Pet Smart or Petco. The staff is friendly and there seems to be lots of them around all the time. You just have to spend a few minutes watching the dogs frolic and play in their special play yard with the bone shaped swimming pool to know that these people know what they are doing. Keep up the good work. Try to make reservations for boarding early since they are often pretty crowded, especially around holidays. read more

Not only did they separate my dog from playing with other dogs without telling me in advance, they mix up his bowls with other dogs and returned the wrong bowls and did not return his labeled food or treats left for him. Had to pick him up in a rush as I refused to leave him another nite in such an unorganized place like that! NOT SAFE!!! Extremely disappointed with this facility. I boarded my German Shepherd here for 3 nights and paid for extra play for him. Upon picking him up and bringing him home, I noticed a spot on his neck that was extremely matted and full of green gunk. His skin was oozing puss and bleeding. I then reached out to the after hours chat online to advise them of what was going on and they assured me that a Manager would call me back first thing in the morning. I arranged a vet visit to have him looked at that following morning. They clipped and cleaned the area and advised me he had a really nasty bacterial infection/hotspot which would have been caused by the facility not drying him after the pool before putting him back in the kennel. His visit cost approximately $300 with meds and treatment. I never received a call from the facility at all that day. They did call the following day and the lady I spoke to on the phone advised that this issue is common at their facility with Golden Retrievers and they do not have enough dryers in their facility to be able to dry all of the long hair dogs before putting them back in their kennels. She then followed by saying that they can offer me 1 free nights stay for the inconvenience. So now I am stuck with a big vet bill to fix the wound on my German Shepherds neck while he is in a lot of pain and agony over the next couple weeks while it heals because they are NEGLECTFUL and board more dogs than they can properly care for being that their excuse is they "Do not have enough dryers" to dry all the dogs in the facility. I will be updating this post with pictures so you can see how bad his wound is. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY!!! They did not offer to pay for the vet bill which they should be fully responsible for since it was caused by pure NEGLECT of the facility! read more

Pet Paradise was amazing. I have had some horrible boarding experiences. Because of that a family member usually watches my dog. (85lb pit bulldog mix). PP came highly recommended to me, so when I had no one to watch him I called them last minute. They had availability for a 5 night stay. I purchased the extra $5/day furever connected (Facebook) option. It was worth every penny. They will post (or email) pictures of your pet to you every day. When he got back home he was exhausted from all the fun, but no negative side effects we have had before. I will be using them again! read more

My two-year-old mixed breed rescue dog must have had a traumatic experience before we adopted her one year ago. She is extremely timid and nervous around adults especially men and is uncomfortable in settings with lots of dogs. The staff at Pet Paradise were aware of this when they evaluated her ability to be a regular border at their facility when we go on vacation and made every effort to accommodate her. We suggested that she be kept in an area of older and less energetic dogs and it worked extremely well. We found that the number of staff at Pet Paradise appears to be higher than other places where we have boarded or checked out. The staff was very welcoming and caring and we look forward to using their facilities again in the future. read more

We got a Groupon and decided to send Pockets here because of all of the good Yelp reviews. The staff was very welcoming and nice, and the environment appeared very clean, with ample space for the dogs. Being that I did not spend the night, the best I can say is that I felt comfortable sending my dog here and I will do it again the next time I am out of town. read more
