I like this little store at Tam Junction in Mill Valley - it's got everything you need for your canine and/or feline companions, squeezed into a relatively small space. We like coming here, because they carry our dogs' favorite kibble: Holistic Select. Truth be told, I could get it a bit cheaper from Amazon, but once you factor in shipping and the hassle of possibly picking it up from the post office, we have reverted back to buying our food from a local store. Plus, the folks here are always so nice: every time I come in here, the person at the register is engaged in a fun conversation with one of the customers. read more

Parking is definitely a challenge, especially if you're approaching from Miller Ave or from the east on Shoreline. I'm pretty sure I broke several traffic laws and maybe even a tie rod trying to get into the gravel, pothole riddled "lot". Suggestion: park in the shopping center across Shoreline and hoof it. They had the cat food I was after but all of the cans were severely dented! Like borderline leaking dented. Everything was very dusty and disorganized. They have a surprisingly large selection, but good luck finding it. Luckily the person working there was knowledgable at least about the location of items. It wasn't a very plesant shopping experience. read more

Lot's of inventory, and easy to access if you are heading to downtown mill valley from 101. It's a friendly rustic store with a really great selection of high quality pet food. Lot's of great toys for dogs and cats, and they always seem to be open when I need to make a stop there. For sure check them out for pet supplies. read more

I love this store. To start off, yes the parking is slightly challenging and it's better to be driving north on Almonte than south so you can easily pull in without a problem. If you want big strip mall parking lots, don't come here. There is a PetCo loving to steal your business up in San Rafael. You'll just have to drive farther and fight for parking spaces with the people headed for Trader Joes or the many other stores in that mall. Not my cup of tea. I prefer the smaller, local businesses. Yes, it's slightly messy but if you go a few times you learn where everything is. And the people that work there are super helpful & knowledgeable. Not sure what happened with the reviewer that received bad customer service, must have just been a first day or just a bad day for the employee. I love their variety in highly nutritional foods. My dog was pretty sick the last couple years and I could always find what I need here. And for me personally, I live close by so I can walk, which I love. read more

I realized at 6:30pm today that I was running out of dog food. I looked up the store hours, and seeing that they close at 7pm- I frantically drove there. I arrived right at closing time, expecting a closed sign. Except I was warmly greeted by the nicest employee! I didn't feel rushed at all, and she even took the time to discuss the dog food brands with me, as well as some awesome local vets in the area. I LOVE Pet Pro. I am so pleased to be able to say this about a small, local business. They have all the high-quality food and treats and toys I need. When I needed something special, they ordered it, it arrived promptly, AND they called me. My dog's fancy kibble was recalled (small company suddenly bought out by Procter & Gamble... hmmm.) They let me know before I paid for the next bag and recommended a replacement so good my finicky dog is now on his second helping. The prices are equivalent--not just to nasty, cut-rate big box stores, but even to internet orders. The owner (New Zealand, people, not Australia) is a sweetheart, and so is his employee (a lovely young woman, now; not the apparently awful man who worked there before.) The parking, if you're not an airhead, is just fine. (Seriously, dudes: this is not whine-worthy.) Too tight up front? Then just pull around to the side next to the nursery. And they have always been open when I needed them. read more

Alex and her little Chihuahua are awesome! I just stopped by to see if they had cat food with pumpkin (kitty ate some packing tape and it helps move things along) and they did. Alex even let me mix and match a dozen BFF cans and threw in a pouch of pure puréed pumpkin to have on hand. I come by about once a month to the beauty salon next door and will definitely come in for more kitty food, 5-star customer care, large selection, and low prices. I often shop here b/c I live in the neighborhood. The guy who owns the place (austrailian guy?) is helpful, but the other guy who works there is not helpful at all. Just went in tonight and as I'm making a purchase, I ask: "do you sell the raw dog food?" when he says "yes," I ask, "how much is it?" "It depends on what you want." well, I've never bought raw dog food, I have no idea what the different choices are and so I can't really tell the guy what I want. I mean, he's the one SELLING the stuff, so should HE be able to tell me about the different options? When I explain to him that I don't know anything about raw food & so I can't ask him for the price of a specific brand, he just says that they sell several different brands with different types of meat in at different prices -- and that's it -- no other information. Translation: I won't bother buying from this store; I'll go to Woodland's instead. read more

They carry suitable kibble and canned foods but the store is messy and the employees don't know their stuff. I've had to help customers when the hired help failed to. Difficult parking, crowded aisles, bad lighting, overpriced dog toys and treats--I'd overlook all of that for the sake of supporting an independently owned pet supply store. But every time I've been in there I've received either indifferent or terrible customer service. If I ask questions I get a one word response, no smile, maybe even a touch of sarcasm. I love Pet Pro! I try hard not to shop anywhere else. Their selection is amazing, especially considering the small space, and I think their prices are pretty competitive (I'm a pro comparison shopper, too!) What I value most, though, is the great customer service. Jeff and Alex have helped me to trouble shoot challenging GI issues in two of our dogs, which I greatly appreciated (as did my carpeting). They're both always super-friendly and great to chat with, too! We're lucky to have such a great resource right in our backyard. read more

Hands down the best place in Marin to buy flea and tick control products, he doesn't always have them in stock but if you shop early you won't be sorry. Last month I ran out of Frontline, PetPro and my vet were out of stock so I went to SF Petco and paid $30 more, THIRTY!! Next time I'll buy early for sure. Yes, the place could be better organized, but they have almost everything I need and will make a point of special ordering anything they don't currently have. The service is great and the staff is knowledgeable and cool. Molly B. said the cans in this store were severely dented ("borderline leaking dented.") This is simply not true. I agree with her statement about the parking being limited sometimes, but there is a huge lot about thirty paces from the store. I've also noticed that the staff will carry out bags of food for anyone who needs it. Prices on most things are great. There are two Pet Pros in Marin (the one in Tam Junction and the one in downtown San Rafael.) I work fairly close to the one in Tam Junction, so it is much easier for me to visit that store, but the location in San Rafael is also a great place. Overall, a wonderful place to shop! And I MUCH prefer supporting a small business than a big box store. read more

I love Pet Pro. Jeff -- he's a New Zealander by the way! -- and his co-worker Alex are both wonderful. I've been coming here for years shopping for my kitties, but it is really in the last year of so, since we got the puppy, that they have really gone above and beyond. Will special order anything you want if they don't have it and get it pretty darn quickly either Tuesday or Friday the same week. They have both been immensely helpful with getting our pup on the right track and I love how they know me by name and always have a warm welcome when I pop in. Yes, the parking is a challenge, but it's really no big deal when heading in to Mill Valley from 101.... Great prices too on most things and definitely the lowest in the area on my pup's frozen raw food of choice! Highly recommend. read more

Okay, parking can be a bit of a challenge, and the store is a bit crammed with stuff, but don't mind those things because the Pet Pro folks are so nice and helpful. I always shop here for the basics- dog food, bunny hay, litter, etc. They always ask me if I want help to my car (which I don't)- I don't hear anyone ask that in any other pet shops. Much prefer the experience here than the big corporate pet shops. By the way, they have a good selection of dog treats! read more
