Chose to support my local Tam business as a first time customer. Ordered 1.5 yards of 3/8 phoenix pebble which is supposed to be cream and grey. Product delivered was predominately gold dirt with pebble, which is now a mountain of gold mud. I'd give them a zero. :( :( :( One star for on time/efficient delivery. Why would they deliver this and expect their customer to just deal with bad product? Future $ will be not be spent at Martin Brothers. Should have driven to Shamrock...so sad. read more

I really enjoyed going to this landscape store I wanted to remodel my back yard space. I needed help with what material would work good to grow beautiful plants in the back but I also needed material for my sons play area. The women in the front I believe her name was Elena was VERY knowledgeable on all the material they sell and she recommended various options. I highly recommend you speak with her if you have any questions. My son enjoyed watching the tractors and we where even helped by this really nice very helpful man named mike he loaded my car up with the supplies I bought and I could not have asked for better service!!! most of the time you can't find who can help you load gravel or soil. Prices compared with other construction suppliers are mostly the same or more expensive, and they won't help you load material if is by the bag . I've been there few times because is the closest to where I work sometimes but as I said if I want bags of gravel I have to fill them up myself . Now I only go if I need concrete mix , not the best soil or mulches. Not the best customer service either, Good for only emergencies! read more

Great place for Marin gardeners! First of all - yes, everyone in masks - next - if you love roses, this is THE BEST PLACE to get a large bag of alfalfa pellets (used for animal feed) at lowest price to mulch your roses in the springtime. They are also great source for various size bulk lava rocks - I use large chunks for drainage base in potted plants and small gravel to mulch lavender plants so base does not rot. Waiting to see if they will carry large bags of cottonseed meal which is used to mulch acid loving camellias twice a year, April and August, I learned that from famous Filoli Gardens in Woodside, who has legendary camellia gardens. Large supply of other rock and stepping stone needs, and fast friendly service. I like to support local independents! read more

I just read the Yelp reviews for this place and saw two: one saying it's a great place to weigh your vehicle, and the other tearing a hole in the business, for not having some sort of credit memo on file. OK - I've got to weigh in. This place is great! I've purchased dirt, fire wood, bark chips and pallets of rocks from Martin Brothers. Last month I spent $1700 here, and I've probably had twenty or more transactions here over the past eight years, so I think I'm qualified to comment. I shop here not just to support a locally-owned business, but because, if you're looking for dirt, gravel and rocks, Martin Brothers' pricing - and selection - is great. And the folks behind the counter - and in the yard - have always provided me with great customer service. PS - You know, I bet they DID misplace that credit memo the other reviewer mentioned (though sounds like he misplaced his own copy too!) I came here to have SUV weighted since in order to get a commercial plate I need to have the car weighted. So DMV gave me this business and I came here waited about 5 min and that was it. To those of you who need to have their car weighted for DMV issues there is no need to go into SF or Oakland port to do that! Martin Bros Supply can do that just fine. Martin Brothers Supply is AWESOME!!! A hidden gem, although they've been there since the 50's! Not only are they a landscape yard, they also do DMV vehicle weighing and have a full Pet Supply store in front. I like their products but their customer service leaves something to be desired. I had a store credit and they "can't find my receipt" because it is buried somewhere in their records. They said if I didn't have the paper receipt showing the credit then they couldn't honor the credit. However...they never gave me a receipt with the credit amount. I asked them if they would at least let me have a 1/4 yard of gravel and they said no. I said even if I write a poor (true) review on Yelp that will far surpass the dollar amounts they will lose from negative press and they still refused. Kind of a bummer. So here it is. I'm a local who supports local business. I won't support theirs from now on. read more
