She is patient and kind and very knowledgeable. She stays after hours and takes the time to know all the ins and outs and lumps and bumps of my family Michaela is the best Vet tech ever. She has the magic touch l. She is able to do blood draws on my cats that previously they would have to be sedated . Faith, Britney , Cat are all top notch at what they do. The front office staff deals with me and all my crazy pet needs on a weekly basis. These people work extremely hard in an industry that is underpaid and under appreciated. 0 out of 5 Stars - Extremely Disappointed…read more I would not recommend Spanaway Veterinary Clinic to anyone. Our puppy received her first vaccine through the breeder's veterinarian. After we purchased her, we brought her to this clinic for a full wellness exam. During that visit, we were told she would need her next vaccine in one week. We scheduled that appointment, but the veterinarian insisted on performing another "follow-up" full exam before administering the vaccine. That would have meant three full exam visits (each around $100) within one month. When we explained that we could not afford to pay for repeated full exams just to receive scheduled vaccines, they eventually waived the additional exam and administered the vaccine. Now our puppy is due for her next set of vaccines in three weeks. On 2/24/2026 at 3:40 PM, when I called to schedule the appointment, I spoke with one of the rudest receptionists I have ever encountered. She informed me that we would again be required to pay for another full "follow-up" exam in order to receive vaccines. When I explained that we only needed the scheduled vaccines and referenced the previous situation, she stated they would not waive the exam this time. I politely asked to speak directly with the veterinarian to better understand the policy. The receptionist refused and instead stated she was going to deactivate our account. The fact that a receptionist feels empowered to cancel a client's account for simply asking questions is extremely concerning. Refusing to allow communication with the veterinarian is unprofessional and unacceptable. We have decided to move our puppy's care to Canyon Road Veterinary Hospital, who is willing to review her records and administer scheduled vaccines without forcing unnecessary repeated full exams. The owner of this clinic should seriously evaluate their front desk professionalism and client communication policies. We will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and sharing our experience with other pet owners and breeders so they can make informed decisions. Very disappointed. This is in response to their response: Thank you for your response. However, much of what was stated does not accurately reflect what occurred. First, the individual I spoke with did not identify herself as the hospital manager during the call. Regardless of title, the tone of the conversation was dismissive and unprofessional. Clients should be able to ask reasonable questions about policies and costs without having their account deactivated. It is also inaccurate to state that three different staff members clearly and consistently explained a firm policy requiring two exams. What we were originally told was that our puppy needed her next scheduled vaccine in one week. When we returned, we were then told another full exam was required. Only after we explained our financial concerns was that exam waived. That does not reflect a clearly communicated or consistently enforced policy. We did not refuse medical care for our puppy. We questioned the necessity of repeated full exams within a short time frame after she had already received a breeder exam and a full wellness exam at your clinic. Wanting transparency about medical recommendations and associated costs is not refusing care, it is responsible pet ownership. At no point did we say we intended to administer vaccines ourselves. We stated that if repeated full exams were required every time, we would need to consider transferring care to another clinic. That is a reasonable and honest statement, not grounds for account deactivation. What is most disappointing is that at no point did anyone attempt to work with us to find a reasonable solution. There was no effort to discuss alternatives, payment options, or a clearer explanation of the medical necessity specific to our puppy. Instead of collaborating with us as concerned pet owners, the approach taken was defensive and dismissive. A business that consistently responds to customer concerns by implying the client is wrong rather than listening and problem-solving will eventually struggle. Long-term success comes from professionalism, transparency, and partnership with clients, not from shutting down conversations. The decision to inactivate our account rather than allow a direct conversation with the veterinarian only reinforced our concerns about communication and client care. We stand by our experience. Pet owners deserve respectful communication, clear policies, and a willingness to work together in the best interest of their animals. We have since transferred our puppy's care to another veterinary hospital and wish your clinic the best moving forward.

Shaggy Shack Pet Resort returned my severely arthritic, disabled dog to me smelling of pee, a…read moresticky underbelly from laying in her pee, raw spots on her elbows, an elbow with dried blood, inflammation and swelling of both her elbows so severe that it shook with each step my dog would take, and pee on her food container. I put my dog into boarding August 17-21, 2023 with Shaggy Shack; Thursday afternoon to Monday morning. My dog has a muscle dystrophy disorder that effects anywhere in her body that has collagen. At less than 2 years old, she has severe arthritis in her elbows. I let Shaggy Shack know of her disorder prior to leaving her with them. I even wrote a note and taped it to her food container. I spoke with 2 workers, 1 manager, and then finally the owner. None of the stories matched with the others. When I spoke with Tonya, the owner, I explained how I received my dog and that her inflammation could only be that severe if she was not given her medication. Tonya said "the girls could have missed some medications, we're not perfect." I asked for a refund, to which she said "we won't be administering a refund because that would be admitting we did something wrong." My dog was returned to me with dried blood and sticky from pee, how is that right? I have no answers I'm satisfied with, only multiple stories of what may or may not have happened to my disabled dog. At this point, I paid to have her be grossly neglected. Tonya provided a med sheet 4 days later to try to claim they gave my dog her medication, even though my hydrotherapist (who I had look over my dog for other injuries) agreed her condition could've only been that bad if she had not received her medication. Tonya shifted the blame to me, saying "You chose to bring her to a highly stimulated setting instead of staying home with your handicapped pup." I trusted Shaggy Shack to care for my dog as if she were your own, as the website claims the business would do. I will not make that error again and suggest others not to as well. Do better.

I would highly recommend though. I like our home spot, but his one has something very special about it. Bernard loves playing with dogs, but when its raining at our normal spot he ends up sitting inside with some outside time and not a lot of dog socialization... or at least that is my guess. When he comes home on rainy days he is not all that tired. In fact he seems like he just hung around all day instead of playing. The first time we took him to Shaggy Shack it was raining and I thought he was going to come home not tired at all. Oh man was I wrong. He was knocked out and it was in a way that leads me to believe not only does he get to play with dogs, but he has moments of thinky time or play time with humans. I cant say for sure, but I love how he comes back those days. Clearly wore out from a day of fun. I really like this place but unfortunately its a bit of a drive to do daycare daily especially when we have an on base option right next to my wife's work. I will say though they are definitely going to be our go to for boarding. The one major downside to our normal spot is there are no options for drop off pick up on Sundays. A lot of our trip or time where we need to board is Just saturday evening. This gives us the opportunity to board and pick up when we return and not have to board an extra night. In addition we had a last minute boarding need when I was too lazy to get boarding scheduled at our normal spot and it worked out perfectly. I highly recommend this place. Its not on base so anyone can use. The place is huge. Staff knowledgable and friendly and overall I have nothing but positives about here. I wish their location was closer, but thats not a negative, just a desire to make my life easier.

Terri at Wagging Tails Doggy Boarding is the best! We have…read morebeen taking Bonkers our miniature Schnauzer there for over 2 years. She is now his godmother if anything was to happen to us. We take him there 2-3 times a week for daycare. He gets to run around and socialize with other dogs and gets the exercise we can't give him. When we can't take him along on adventures he stays there for boarding and is well taken care of I also appreciate how she is selective on which dogs stay. If they don't fit in they can not come back. Bonkers loves Terri and is so excited when we go there you can hear him from blocks away. I kind of hoped he would get over that but hey he is happy. Lol

Picked up my 6mo old pup today had shock collar on. Owner passed me on to another man who said the…read moredo not use shock collars only a beeper, my pup was jumping on other dogs so they put this on her. This small goldendoodle has a small fragile neck with the collar tight enough to push on her vocal cords. I looked it up and the collar has 2 large prongs on it and is listed as shock buzz or sound. Unknown what they did but this rangbuncious pup has been lying down for two hours.

Update to my review: Maizy went into her first heat in…read moreFebruary so she couldn't come that month and her package days would roll over. I didn't realize it was only for the one month and I had kept asking over and over how many days she had and never got an answer. Several times I got texts saying my dog was checked out and picked up when they had actually meant to check out a different dog and they wouldn't call me I had to text and call and leave voicemails before someone finally would tell me what happened. I used to work for a daycare and boarding facility I know dogs get dirty at daycare but there was one day in particular I asked if she could stay inside because it was raining and we had literally moved into a new apartment the night before, staff said sure no problem keeping her inside and when I picked her up she was covered in mud head to tail. Then the next time after that my aunt picked her up for me and tells me she was wet. When I noticed a $10 charge for a "rinse off" and asked what that was for I was informed it was for when they hosed down Maizy and sent her home went and smelly saying they were under the impression I didn't want her to get dirty..... mind you that was one day I asked for that. I had planned to board her here after I had my baby but when I was given a tour of the facility I couldn't be more disgusted. The putrid smell of filth when you walk in the front door slaps you, the kennel area is dark, they use black wire crates from petsmart to board your dogs in. Nothing lodge feeling about it. I did not end up boarding there. One day I went to pick her up and I could hear one of the staff members SCREAMING at a dog from my car and he was inside the building. I asked one of the other staff members who nova was when she informed me it was his dog. If he talks to his dog that way, how is he treating mine? They want you to think it's a nice clean happy facility here but it's not. It stinks, the staff doesn't listen or care one of the two, and the owner just likes to collect whatever fees she can think of that day. General disorganization. I am a groomer I didn't need to be charged $10 for a hose down and regardless before charging clients for things you should probably speak to them regarding that first. Completely disappointed with the staff here.
