My wife and I can't thank LIz and her staff enough for the care, love and attention they gave to our dog, Rex. Liz is so accommodating by accepting Rex even he has not completely recovered from his illness coming from the pet ER the same day we were going to Hawaii. The following day, Rex completely recovered due to Liz' broad knowledge about how to treat and care about Rex' medical situation. I started boarding our 2 male guinea pigs here back in March and have done so 3 more times this year due to travel obligations. They have a nice clean spacious facility for exotics and the staff is great! We can tell that the boys are always well-taken care of. My dog Toby has stayed here several times and he loves it, and all of the staff. Everyone is very friendly and clearly loves animals. My dog is VERY high energy and they work so well with him every time. They really get to know the specifics of each pet and their personalities. When I send him with toys they are returned to me freshly washed. When I picked him up from his latest stay they gave me a to-go bag of treats for Christmas. Very thoughtful all the way around. Over the years my dogs Molly, Gracie, and Auggie have all boarded with Gillshire. Even Sizzler the cat has stayed with them! I leave my fur-kids knowing that they are 100% safe. The Gillshire facility is really geared to care for any pet, young, old, easy-going, or anxious. They really do know dogs and cats and pay attention to their needs. You never have to be afraid that your dog is getting thrown into a crate for a week. Gillshire makes sure the dogs thrive. Last time Auggie stayed, one of the owners Dalmatians was there when we checked him in. Auggie was like hey, I like your spots and sauntered off after her not even letting me say goodbye to him! The first time I ever boarded they took the phone out to my dog Molly so that I could talk to her! She didn't talk back of course, but what an awesome place to do that for an anxious dog mom! Auggie and our new dog will be staying with Gillshire again soon and I have no qualms about leaving them as I know they will be well looked after. recently had our dog boarded for an extended stay. Had done a tour of facility prior and was impressed with how clean it is and how it is set up. When we picked him up they gave us details of how his stay was and one of the girls seemed genuinely sad that he was leaving, and he really didnt want to go home either. I have taken my dogs multiple times to Gillshire. One suffers from anxiety, the other was a rescue so takes awhile for him to adjust. We worked with Liz over a few weeks to get them adjusted (they had never had to be kenneled before) and now they are always excited to see us packing as they know they are getting their own vacation! Kennels do not get any better than this one. I've been using them for years and again just recently. We had a death in the family (this was the second one on a Labor Day weekend!). Liz was able to take both my cat and dog. They came home happy and well adjusted even after 5 days! I can tell that they really play with the animals. My dog came home very playful and exuberant. They keep the kennel super clean! Never had I had my pets come home smelling like a kennel! They wash everything before sending it back home with you. This was our first use of boarding our two rescued mini schnauzers. We read the reviews and decided to try it. We are so glad we did. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the breed and needs as first time boarders. We brought comfort items for our dogs from home, which were used and then cleaned at pick up. Our dogs were well cared for and an account of their stay was given when picked up. Our dogs were happy to see us but also very calm when we picked them up showing they were comfortable with their home away from home. We will definitely return. read more

If you're looking for an ethically ran business I would highly recommend steering clear of this establishment all together. As a local in this community I pride myself on using locally ran businesses which this is. I couldn't be more dissatisfied with how my situation was handled. Management is supposed to listen and work to resolve issues not be offensive and think that it's ok. I guess ignorance really is bliss. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to express my concerns and hope that others will not fall into a simular situation. read more

We took our 10 yr old blind, diabetic lab and our energetic 5 yr old husky to Gilshire Kennels for 7 days. I was nervous leaving them in a new (to us) kennel but felt reassured after reading previous reviews. Those reviews were spot on! They were very well taken care of and aside from being a little mad at us for leaving, they seemed happy and content when we picked them up. Liz even washed their blankets!! My pooches Greg & Daisy are both rescued shelter dogs. I was concerned about taking them somewhere they will spend time in cages because they have spent enough time "behind bars". Well, I found the perfect place. The first time I dropped them off they gave me a tour of the place and it is top notch. In fact, when I pull into the parking lot now, they start doing their dog happy dance and pull me with all their weight into the lobby. When they get led back to their "rooms", there's no looking back at me. They're just excited about the fun ahead. These people truly love dogs.
