Unfortunately I had a very poor customer experience here. It began with a store employee dropping a tropical fish on the floor. The fish was out of the tank for about a minute while the employee tried to pick it up by the tail. When she finally got a hold of it, she was about to put it back in the tank, when I suggested she put it in a quarantine tank. At that moment, her Team Leader walked by and said she should put back in the same tank, and see "if it makes it." By that time I had selected three fish and wasn't going to select more after the fish on the floor incident. I also purchased a $60 bag of dog food and $25 in dog treats (spending approximately $110). Later that day, one of the fish died, while the others were fine. I called the store, and they told me to bring back the fish with my receipt and they would give me a new fish (I was not told I needed anything else). So, I brought back the "dearly departed fish" and my receipt, and one of the staff got me a replacement. But when I went up to the cash register, the person who came to help with the exchange gave me a hard time, like she was doing me a big favor. I told her about the dropped fish story, and she seemed uninterested and annoyed. She was having difficulty processing the exchange, and was clearly annoyed about that. I finally gave up, why do I need aggravation and rudeness over an $11 fish. I gave them back the replacement fish, left the store and plan to take my business elsewhere. A truly negative customer service experience. I've purchased many things at this store over the years, and even brought some friends here. I think they call that the lifetime value of a customer, something I think the store owners need to explain to the staff. read more

Clean well stocked store. The pet wash station was a mess when I used it and you can't regulate the water temperature which I don't like. I think it was on the hot side especially for a summer bath for my dog. The staff was always very friendly. read more

Don't use the dog wash. For the price of roughly $15 you will be given a filthy tub covered in dog hair that's not cleaned between washes, doesnt drain and has a broken sprayer. The water is hot, but a little too hot for comfort for a dog id say, and the temperature is pre set with no room for adjustment. Been washing my dog here and only here for years and am very sad to see the decline of quality. Better off in the tub at home. read more

I would give it 0 stars if i could. I bought bird food from this store and it was infested with bugs (over 50 at least). I look up the type of bugs it is and it said that they are very infectious and are able to destroy your food pantry in days. So i brought it to the store to let them know to get rid of the food. And they did not take it seriously at all and treated it as a minor concern. They got mad at me and told me to leave saying we can't do anything about it. read more

I have wanted to try the dog wash for some time now. With the wet ground I tried it with the kids thinking it would be fun. First I had to "go up front to pay and get two towels" I was up-sold to buy 5 washes which i didn't. got out back to wash the dog and a nice girl helped with the "soap dispenser" None came out. No Brushes or soap. I tried to wait for soap to come out of the hose. Dryer worked well. I paid $10 to since my dog and went home with a dog that smelled worse after the "wash" then I went in with. I told the staff that it was awful she thought I was kidding. Will not buy nor walk into the store again. Thanks for the wet dog smelling Dog. read more

Nicest staff and always welcoming. They price match!! Which is awesome. They're always willing to help you before you even ask. Animals are all well taken care of. Always clean. Customers always come first here and they always want you leaving happy, especially with the carry outs. This is the best pet store because the staff is actually there for you and to help you. I live closer to petco and I will NEVER go there because pet supplies plus has the best customer service. Do not buy fresh pet food at the store they sold me bird seed infested with insects. Because they were infested I had to buy bags food and the only bag they had was half a pound more than the first food that was infested with insects so they made me pay the difference after selling me that food. When I went back to get some more they told me the infestation was gone so I poured some seed in the bag and again it was literally infested with the same insects. Their employee to Shelby Fortin told me that this is regular practice that they know they are still infested yet they keep filling the fresh food for people to take home to their pets infested with bugs. She told me it is also the same way with a fresh dog food. Mine was bird seed! They are very dirty and irresponsible they just continue to sell food infested with insects it's disgusting thousands of bugs flying around in the food. read more

Unbelievably unreliable when it comes to staffing. Repeated tries over the last 3 months for nail trimming have led to multiple wasted trips to the store even after being told someone was there for grooming/trimming. Its a retail store - open til 9pm. There's no reason one should have to come between 9a and 1p on a weekday (when we work) to maybe find someone there. Totally unreliable in this regard. Forget the services and just do retail sales then if staffing can't support what services you're supposed to offer. read more

I bought a baby ferret from here they told me that all i had to do was feed her adult food smashed up with water. So i did i bought all the things they recommended for her and i had her for a little over a month when she passed away. I had a vet do a few test on her and he noticed she was underweight he said her passing was most likely due to the fact that there was not enough nutrition in the adult food that they were recommending her to only eat . Not to mention when i purchased her the girl took her out of the cage and just handed her to me and when i asked for a box to carry her outside in (because its the middle of winter) the girl was shocked and asked why i needed a box to carry her home. They care more about making money then they do about the well being of their animals. Super sad to be honest. Lost my best little buddie because they didnt know what they were talking about they just wanted me to buy the only kind of food they had to offer to make a few extra dollars off of me. Awful place for fish..... most of the people that work there can't even tell if it's between male or female fish of different breeds. I constantly see dead fish in their tanks it's just terrible quality. I go there quite a bit for dog products and I was satisfied with the quantity and quality of dog food treats and toys etc. I appreciated the need to self service dog washing station but now that I've looked at their fish section and how the fish are kept I'm very disappointed and disgusted. I love all animals! Also when walking into the store your immediately greeted by this disgusting scent the store has been there maybe a year in oxford so the cleanliness is terrible!!! The first couple times I came in on a Saturday afternoon and thought maybe there was a lot of traffic in the store with pets and that I was smelling wet dog or cat for the wash station but I smell it every time I go into the store. I breed guppies and own two dogs and a guinea pig so I shop for pets often. There supplies for dogs and guinea pigs were fine a lot of choices and healthy items plus a variety of toys and bedding and I already stated that the dog selection is good but I'm not going to be shopping there anymore the cleanliness is a problem therefore many items in the store could be contaminated with fleas or other diseases as well as animal waste. It's quite a disappointment the store was in the town I live but the is pet smart in millbury which is a great store all around and my favorite chewy.com if you order ahead there prices and selection is amazing!!! read more

I visited this store for the first time today. I always check out the well being and treatment and cleanliness of the animals when i visit a petstore. This store was terrible! Some of the fishtanks were overcrowded beyond belief. Seemed there was more fish than water in some tanks. Dead and decaying fish in the tanks. In the small animal area, every single enclosure had a water bottle that was MOLDY!!!!!! Those poor animals were drinking MOLDY water! I complained to the manager on duty, he didnt seem to care too much. read more

Although the staff seemed friendly enough they didn't seem very knowledgeable about the services this particular store had to offer. The self wash station is a joke and smells like it hasn't been bleached since the place first opened. I won't even mention the horrendous condition of the fish tanks. Also the ridiculous amount of money they charge for a nail clipping (dog) is absolutely obscene especially since none of them knew what they were doing. Both times I had to restrain my own dog and help them practically use the clippers. I mean... why bother going there if I'm just going to do all the work myself???
