I retained the text messages to prove this. I left an emergency contact who was my nephew in the event he did not do well or became ill during his stay. My emergency contact was never called. When my husband and I picked him up, he was scared, confused, very dirty and seemed very dazed. I asked if they used any sedation on him and I was told "no" by the owner who identified himself as Tom. (this conversation was done through email) He told me that my dog was not a good fit for the facility. He told me he stayed in his kennel/suite and he had to be hand fed. He told me that his staff tried to clean him after his "accidents". My dog is perfectly trained and has never had accidents. We recently moved back to Rochester, NY from another state. In our previous state he was boarded multiple times and was enrolled in daycare. He NEVER had any issues at any prior establishment and was always returned calm, clean and happy. I feel responsible in some ways because I never was shown the facility beyond the front desk. Although the website has a photo of an outside area, when we picked him up and drove to the back of the building, there was no outdoor space or fenced in play area of any sort. I do not understand why they would have allowed my dog to suffer like that for 10 days without contacting me or my emergency contact. the only reason I can think of is that they wanted their full 10 day fee of $545. I would never leave my pet with this establishment.

I work…read morelong days, and while he's generally a couch potato, he loves to get outside and really likes (most) people so I like having someone come give him some company and let him out a few days a week. RDW has two different scheduling options - you can schedule on your own as needed or you can join the Pack which includes a walk every weekday (at a discount) as well as several other benefits. My work schedule is (unfortunately for me) variable, so a pack membership just didn't make sense, though it would almost certainly be worth it for someone who needs that consistency. The "a la carte" option is very simple - just request your walks for the following week by Wednesday. I try to request several weeks at a time, but on occasion my schedule comes out late or I forget, and RDW has always been very helpful. I work some evenings, holidays, and weekends and RDW can accommodate all of those which is rare. Customer service is AMAZING. I really appreciated the time B took on our first meeting to get to know my dog and to ask such great questions to figure out what my needs were. Likely due to my ever changing schedule, there are multiple dog walkers who come to my house. I've never had an issue with any of them. Any time a new staff member needs to be introduced to my dog, one of our existing walkers comes with to facilitate that process. Communication is easy; when I have had to get in touch with them I have always had a response within a few hours. You can send an email or chat directly with walkers in the app. My dog has some personality quirks (unsure what life was like for him before being with me) that we've had to work with - RDW has been very understanding about this and willing to work with us to make sure everyone, including my dog, stays safe. In general, RDW makes me feel like I have people in my corner who care about my dog as much as I do. Seeing the update from my dog walker that day and photos is always a bright spot during a hectic shift at work. I know my guy is having the best time with his friends at RDW, and I am so happy I found this business. I cannot recommend RDW enough. Worth every penny.

I am 21 and have been looking to adopt from there for a while. I adore cats and know a lot about caring for them and am really passionate about them. It has been a really unnecessarily long process trying to adopt from there and not a pleasant one, it has grown tiring since I am ready to give a cat a loving forever home now and have been for a long time. The director there, when she actually answers her phone, doesn't take me seriously and doesn't listen to me and what I have to say and insists on speaking to my mother every time, who won't even be a part of caring for the cat and knows nothing about cats, unlike me. She needs to have my mom adopt the cat, it can't be me and she even called me "challenged" (I have never met this woman) while speaking to my mother. I will be the one caring for the cat, feeding the cat, playing with the cat, I bought everything the cat needs (food, window perch, activity tower, toys, beds, litter box, litter etc.) and will for its entire life and study cats daily and know everything about them and how to care for them and hope to work with them my whole life and open up my own cat shelter in the far future yet my extremely busy mother who never has time and basically works 24/7 and doesn't even have a car at the moment is the only person they can talk to and the only person who can adopt her just so the cat can be brought home and spend all its time with me. Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessarily strict and I was treated with 0 respect. I'll be adopting elsewhere, where I, the person who will be taking care of the cat, can adopt and be taken seriously and am sad that the cat won't be living the life of spoiled luxury with me and wish her the best and hope she finds a nice forever home. Also, with all of the open hours I feel like the cats should be getting more one on one play time to help some of the more shy/fearful/aggressive cats. Most of the time it feels like these cats are just being watched during open hours and not played with/interacted with. On the plus side, everybody else I've talked to has been great and the cats at the shelter get a decent amount of space to walk around, play and relax during open hours. They are very generous when it comes to their adoption fee of $100 which includes all shots and spaying and neutering which comes out to being much more expensive. I really respect and agree with their views on cats being indoor only and only adopting to people who plan to abide by this. Them being open to everybody during the weekend as opposed to appointment only during the week lets the cats there get lots of attention, which is really good for them. But they don't seem to want these cats adopted out and don't care how knowledgeable you are with cats and how much love and care and attention you will give to them so unless they change their ways I would go elsewhere to a place with better management.

Our dog LOVES going to Christopher Robins. She is a Great…read morePyrenees/Border collie mix and is our only dog. We got her from a rescue when she was about 7 months old and started taking her to Christopher Robins (C.R.) when she was about 10 months old as we wanted her to be comfortable socializing with other dogs and humans. We chose C.R. because of how the dogs are allowed to interact with each other. The play sessions they set up are truly customized to our dog's personality, how she likes to play, and her level of comfort with other dogs. They monitor to make sure the dogs don't get overwhelmed, and to ensure the play groups are fun for our dog and those she plays with. We get report cards showing pictures of her play sessions so we can see her progress. Dogs are social animals and need their pack. C.R. will let us know when she has a good day, when she helps comfort another dog who needs help engaging with the group, or when she has a new best friend. It's been almost two years since we started using Christopher Robins and highly recommend them. Our dog is thriving and looks forward to going to C.R. every time. Though it is 100% our responsibility to train our dog and prepare them for social situations, and C.R. has helped enhance our dog's socialization and how she plays. This is a great place where we don't worry about her and she gets to redirect her energy in a positive way.

On top of that something either on their floors or outside caused their paws to bleed. My vet didn't know if they had a reaction to something they cleaned the floors with or something outside. Basically, my poor babies were miserable. Here, I have absolutely no complaints. They were wonderful with my dogs and took great care of them. They went back in April and had a great stay. I was also told that they would be welcomed back, which apparently was a lie. Where they lost my recommendation was what happened after. I recently called to have them stay there again and I received an email declining the reservation. Their explanation was that due to my dogs anxiety they would not accept them. Yes, one of my dogs has anxiety and is on medication, however, that did not cause the bloody paws or the diarrhea. I called as soon as their office was open and received their voicemail, so I left basically the same message as I wrote above. They replied with an email saying that they would review the situation. Well, it's been over a week and I never heard back. it is bad business to welcome someone back when they are face to face with you and then go back on that in an email, reply to a phone call with an email and then drop all communication.
