We looked for a service that would come to our home and anesthetize Sophie while we held her. We found Nicole Vega of Hummingbird Veterinary who came promptly. She answered all our questions and offered all of the other end-of-life services that might be required. After anesthetizing Sophie, she lined up a cremation service, source for an urn with inscription, and took Sophie with her to follow through on all those services. Dr. Vega was thorough and compassionate at every step of the process. She was thoughtful enough to create a clay medallion with Sophie's foot prints impressed in it (see pic). It turns out that Dr. Vega is well known and highly regarded in this area. She substitutes for other veterinarians when asked. We've decided to take advantage of the preventative care service she offers. Her philosophy of "an oz. of prevention is worth a lb. of cure" makes excellent sense in a time when other veterinarians are scheduling their services one to two months out. Her services to us were 5-Stars!

The drop-off was quick and straightforward, and they contacted me within a week or so to let me know everything was ready. When I went in to pick up, the package provided several meaningful keepsakes, including a nose print, paw print stamp, some of her fur, a clay paw imprint, and her urn (I chose the biodegradable option). The pricing was very reasonable, and now I have beautiful mementos to remember Pepper by. Finally, on my departure today, they hand me a tube of medicine that is $30 for a simple lesion. It's really irritating to know that I could've spent so much less on this every month had someone simply had the courtesy to inform me that I could get it for cheaper online. But no. Let's follow the Almighty dollar instead. Everything is always so surprisingly - and offensively - expensive through SBVH.
