If you want to be That Girl with the spoiled dog that is really just an accessory, this is the spot to hit. This boutique is filled with fancy dog clothing that goes way beyond a pink dog sweater. There are dresses for dogs here. Dresses. While it's pretty ridiculous, yes, at least this store fosters the local talent, because the dresses are made by local crafty people here in town. There are super fancy dog beds, bowls, nail polish (claw polish?) baked goods and treats, leashes, toys, and dog jewelry. There are high end dog food brands and also a full service grooming salon. I have inadvertently spent an obscene amount of money here for my dog, including a leash that I should have realized was special, because it was BEHIND the counter, not out in front with all the other leashes. It turned out to be an italian leather leash that cost $60 - but it was pink and it's actually held up for many years. I may have gone overboard with a lot of things I have gotten here, but I've really loved everything I've gotten, and, more importantly, it's all been very good quality. I believe in letting people know when a business is really worth their money (or not), so here is my experience: I have a lab mix who -about twice a year- produces so much wool (read: fur) that I feel like giving up cleaning my apartment and running away to the north pole (please note, I would have enough sweaters based on how much hair is flying through the house). You pretty much -and this is no exaggeration- have to clean up the floor every single day. I figured out that life doesn't have to be that hard (especially since I have a full time job in which throwing in extra hours is required and expected). So I decided to give Petcetera a try: bath, nail trimming and shaving (I guess you can call it hair trimming, but I prefer to call it shaving or "take off him as much hair as you can"). The entire procedure costs $ 60 (+tip) and Emily does an amazing job. It can take 1-2 hours (they usually call you when you can pick up your dog). I always get half of my dog back (just kidding) and he feels good and pretty getting a lot of compliments. I wished it was a little cheaper, but I haven't found a better place yet that does the same job, so... Most important, my dog and I are happy. As long as you make sure they understand exactly what you want to have done and as long as you are ok with the price, this is a good place to go. I'm sorry to hear about your experience at Petcetera. I am a Mississippi resident and I have been using Petcetera for a little over 3 years now, I have two dogs. I drive an hour and 15 minutes there every month to have my dogs groomed, by the same groomer. you say caused harm to your dog. (Miss. Emily) I have NEVER had ONE BAD EXPERIENCE with any of their employees I'VE used Emily for 3 years and I won't take my dogs anywhere else. they take very good care of their customers dogs AND cats. mine and the other customers that I have witnessed as I was in their store, dropping off or picking up my two babies. When picking up my babies they always look amazing. Miss Emily does a wonderful job. she always puts the cutest little bows and bandanas on them. I'm sorry for what happened to your baby but there has to be something more to your story I'm a veterinarian assistant and PULMONARY EDEMA is an abnormal amount of fluid in the lung tissue, Airways, or air sac, this condition can usually be life threatening, (CAUSES) are underlying conditions such as sepsis, cancer, chronic heart disease, swallowing small object that gets stuck in Airways are lungs, can cause blood clots that will cause a dog to vomit blood,poor diet high in sodium, and obesity... I just don't believe this woman intentionally hurt your dog.......... Great shop to pick up a gift for your pet or a friends pet! They're super friendly and helpful, but above all else they support the animal organization I volunteer with, so I'm a fan. They recognize my pup every time we come in. Their store is perfectly set up for my dog to walk in and choose her own toy since everything is close to the ground. They also let her try the treats/dog foods and have us several samples to try out before switching over to a new brand. I was visiting New Orleans for the holidays and had my small dog with me. I decided to drop in on this little pet boutique on Magazine Street to inquire about getting my dog groomed. I figured it would be more affordable here, than in New York where I'm from. I was right! The grooming was VERY well priced, and Cora did a great job on my Yorkie mix. This is a very nice little boutique. They carry a lot of high-end expensive items but also a lot of reasonably-priced products. I've gotten some cute toys there as gifts. I just bought an adorable raincoat for my dog, and the lady was super nice. They didn't have any on the floor so she went in the back to get them. On September 2, at approximately 8:45am I dropped off my 4 month old puppy to Petcetera NOLA on Magazine st. To be groomed. Upon dropping her off baby Bella was her normal happy, hyper self. The groomer EMILY took a perfectly healthy puppy from my hands to be groomed. Approximately 11:15 or so I received a phone call that Bella was ready for pickup! When I arrived a hurried EMILY carried Bella and placed her in my hands (Bella walked into the groomer). Before leaving I questioned the groomer as to why Bella wasn't herself and breathing heavily!!! The entire ride home Bella sat in my lap and didn't move! When we arrived home she was barely making it. I called Petcetera several times questioning whether they had given her anything or was she acting strange!! THE GROOMER EMILY SAID BELLA WAS A SAINT AND SHE DID NOT HAVE TO COLLAR HER TO GROOM HER SHES 4 MONTHS AND NEVER BEEN GROOMED BEFORE! I don't believe that! Maybe 2 hours later Bella began vomiting blood/Pink frothy secretions!! I immediately rushed her to the vet where they diagnosed her with PULMONARY EDEMA! Which was caused by CHOKING/STRANGULATION!! BEWARE!!!! Bella spent 2 days in the hospital ($1300) The owner of the store and the GROOMER refuse to admit that something happened in their store! Bella had her first sanitary cut at this same store WITHOUT INCIDENT but with a DIFFERENT GROOMER!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BABY IN THIS STORE!!!?!?!?! My dog loves Petcetera. They are on our magazine street route for walking and even when we are walking across the street she strains at the leash to cross and visit. And the staff supports this habit. She gets a warm welcome whenever we visit. And yes, I the owner, with the wallet, also like Petcetera. This is the place to go when you feel indulgent and want to get a treat for your pet, without breaking the bank. They have a huge selection of wonderful clothes, leashes and other accessories. If I allowed myself, my dog would have a larger wardrobe than me, they have so many adorable clothes I want to buy for her. They also have an interesting assortment of treats and all natural food, all reasonably/competitively priced. This is a locally owned business that has been on Magazine street for many years. By far my favorite pet botique in New Orleans. I first came here for grooming after adopting my dog from the ASPCA. The groomers and staff are friendly and always make him look like a little prince. Aside from grooming they have a wonderful array of products to pamper almost any pet. I've also found that their high quality pet food prices are comparable to the larger chains, which is nice when you just need to grab a bag and get out quickly. I also love that the store supports local artists and craftsmen by offering pet handmade collars, leads, doggie friendly birthday cakes and pet photos. It's always well worth the trip to the other side of Canal from the Bywater to shop here. read more

Great selection of collars that you wouldn't find elsewhere. They have harnesses, clothing, carriers, gourmet dog snacks and unique feeders. I love peeking my head in here to see what I can get for my girls next! Of course it is on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for a boutique. I can't wait to pick out a collar for my new puppy. The last purchase we made were a leash and collar we got from Petcetera which were made out of a thick leather with brass fleur de lis riveted on them. They are super sturdy and will last forever. If I could go lower I would! My puppy Shih tzu was left practically dead after a grooming session from this place. My 4 month old puppy left my house early in the morning full of energy running playing. We get in the car and bring her to Petcetera for a grooming. She runs in the store greets everyone as a normal puppy (tail waving, licking, rolling on her back, etc) They take her to the back for grooming and we return in an hour. She is carried out to us basically limp as if she is sleep. They tell us she may be a little sleepy. We get her home and she can barely walk stand or anything. We call them back to see if they gave her something so they could groom her, and they say no we didn't she was good. 1st red flag of negligence a 6 month old puppy was GOOD during a grooming session? This was her 1st full cut mind you. She doesn't want water all she wants to do is lay down and be left alone (THIS DOG NEVER LAYS DOWN AND NEVER WANTS TO BE LEFT ALONE). After 30-40 minutes she is coughing up blood and froth. Rush her to hospital and she has fluid in her lungs from being what we believe strangled/choked (Non Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema)! She needed to be put on oxygen for 2 days and now they refuse to even reimburse us for this, which adds insult to injury. This is the place to go to get high class pet clothing, bedding, and accessories. The owner is really nice. They do carry quality items. I was a frequent shopper there and still love the dog bed we got there. They give very personal service. They even offer in home sitters and dog walking services. When my friend and I walked in we were not greeted but the woman who walked in a minute before us was. As we were browsing the store looking for things for our cat another patron walked in and was immediately greeted. The only difference between us and the other customers was the color of our skin. If this is not the message they want to send out then they need to ensure that they greet every customer equally and the same. I will never go back here. read more

This would be a four-star review, given the large selection of cute doggie things, albeit more for smaller pups than big boys like my 65-pound Otis. But what brings it to a three-star review is the attitude of the sales person who, while ringing up my purchase, expressed frustration with me for squeaking a dog toy that I was buying to the point of saying things like, "I was hoping you'd buy that toy after squeaking it," and "If you care about your life in this store, you won't squeak it again." Um, hello, you work in a dog boutique so noisy dog toys kind of come with the territory. Also, for the record, I wasn't squeaking it to be obnoxious - I was squeaking it to see if it even made a noise since it wasn't immediately obvious that it did, which was important as our dog only likes noisy toys (lucky us!) So the store's worth a visit more so if you have a smaller pup...but just be sure to not squeak the toys! read more

Although this is an adorable store, DO NOT USE THEM FOR PETSITTING! We have used them a handful of times and have not been pleased. It was evident they did not consistently take our dogs out as there was actually dried poop on our floor AND our couch that had obviously been there for DAYS. Our smallest dog was sick with colitis when we arrived home days later from stress and anxiety of not being taken outside consistently. She hates to mess in the house, but had no choice. Not to mention they are the highest priced sitter in town! We have switched our care to Sarah The Petsitter and she is WONDERFUL....and costs less!! She takes her job seriously and you will be very pleased and have the peace of mind your pets are being well taken care of! read more

While the staff was quite friendly, the actual service was awful. The groomer was unhelpful when it came to suggestions on how to get my little dog groomed AND completely ignored the details to which I asked her to pay specific attention. When I got home I had to trim her face myself! In addition, I asked over the phone and then again when I dropped the dogs off to have their teeth cleaned. This detail was also forgotten. One more small negative that would have been overlooked if everything else had been great; the shampoo and/or cologne they use has god awful scent. This place has the worst, most unapproachable staff I've encountered at a pet store. What an overpriced joke this joint is; I tried to give my dog a bath here, called ahead to ensure I could come in the evening, was told "Sure, be here by 530 and you'll be fine." I walked in at 522 and the stink-faced woman behind the counter said it would take too long to clean the tub and she had to leave at 615. What happened to "the customer is always right"? This place sucks and I'll never enter its doors again. Don't waste your time or money here. I was going to give them ten bucks so I COULD WASH MY DOG there and they treated me like trash.
