Disappointed with the aquarium service. I stopped by Petco today intending to buy several fish and supplies, but couldn't get any help in the aquarium section. I initially asked the Manager Adrian if I could get help and he nor anyone else came over, and I stood there for about ten minutes with no assistance. The store wasn't even busy -- no one at checkout, just employees stocking shelves. I asked him again he said someone was coming. I eventually gave up and left, taking my money elsewhere. So friendly and helpful on finding the items that I needed. They are very helpful taking out my purchases to my car for me. Being disabled it is hard to load the cat litter pails and they always help me getting them into my car. The price of the refillable cat litter is so helpful when you have alot of cats using it. Went to get cat food and just got attitude. Signage says Buy 5 3oz Weruva for $5. I got 20 cans went to register. Along with 6 cans of puppy food the total was $55. I questioned the clerk she looked up and said, yes they're $1 each. I walked to my car, looked at receipt and only 5 came out to $5. The other 15 were $1.89/each. I came back in and she wouldn't even look at me. She just called over a kid whose a "manager". He said you have to bring the cans back in so I could scan them. I asked, can you do that with the receipt? He said, No. I walked out and brought the bag in and put it on the register. He never opened the bag or scanned anything. He said, If you looked at the sign it's only for 2 flavors. I said, it says ALL WERUVA 3 OZ CAT FOOD. He walked over and looked, came back, used the receipt for the SKUs, not the cans I carried back inside as his insistence. He gave me $22 back on my card. I said im going to take a photo of the photo, he said, make sure you take a photo of both. So I did. I asked for District Manager phone number, he said No you can call the 800#. I asked for that, he said its online. As I walked out the door He yelled, have a nice day by the way my name is Ben (stupidly). I said, I know your name's on the receipt. So I called Customer Care. I only rated a star because I have to. I went in for a quick return and I can already tell the cashier did not want to work there. Hailee was the cashier that helped me. The first thing I saw was that she was on her phone texting and did not even bother to welcome me or call me up to help me. She quickly finished her text and then began to help me. She did not even bother to ask me what was wrong with the item. Not one word from her with the whole interaction besides asking if I had a phone number with Petco. Without even realizing it was a return then just proceeded to point to the card reader to put my card in. While the whole time she was on her phone texting waiting for the transaction to be complete. I have been in the customer service industry for 14 years, I understand that jobs can be boring and or slow, but if you are working in customer service, then do the job it is required of you. Hailee's whole persona was just screaming, "I really don't want to be here." I have been at other locations, and I have never been this disappointed in someone's customer service. I don't want to sound like I complaining at all, but I think the managers have to really be aware on how the team members are treating their customers. Its already been a year and my review is super late, and not sure if shes still there, but she was super helpful and empathetic for my fur baby who has now crossed the rainbow bridge with lymphoma. My baby boy just finished his canine good citizen course and I couldn't be more stoked. There are a list of 10 items on the test to be taken at the end: accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, allowing someone to check their ear and feet and brush them (like they would at the vet or groomers), walk on a loose leash, walk through a crowd of people, sit/stay and down/stay, coming when called, being polite to other dogs, good reaction to distraction (like dropping a chair), 3 minute separation from owner. I wouldn't have thought that my dog could do all of these things when I got him about 3 months ago but he passed the test just this week! I know some people pay a lot of money and send their dogs away to boot camp to get trained but going to these classes (level 1 and CGC) was so beneficial for me in learning how to teach my dog. Petco really saved me from a lot of frustration. My baby boy is so much more understandable and lovable now. And I'm going to continue teaching him more on my own now that I know the steps. I know petco training won't work for everyone as they only do positive training so if a dog has aggression issues they may need help elsewhere. Again, so grateful that this petco had more hours available for training. Really saved us! Thank you!!!! read more

The worst customer service , I will never come back again, be aware . The lady cashier is super slow anda lazy.

I stopped by today to pick up some cat shampoo and while there an elderly lady came in thinking she had left her phone on the counter during checkout. The young lady at checkout looked around and in the drawers but didn't see it. She went to check with the other young lady working who had helped the lady check out. When they came back the second employee told the elderly lady that she had put her phone into the Petco bag with her purchases and even went outside with the lady to check for the phone. Sure enough the phone was in the bag. It gave me so much joy to see these young employees treat this elderly customer with such kindness and respect. By the way, I was helped in the same manner to find my shampoo. Way to go Petco! read more

This Petco is hit or miss, some of the employees actually care and know about the animals. Most do not. I'm not sure whats changed recently but for some reason they've started putting betas in the community tanks. One time I went in and it was a tank of all male betas and they were killing each other. Called before coming and spoke with a gentleman named Richard. He was professional, knowledgeable and personable. Went to store to purchase based in the information he provided and all was exactly as he said. Wonderful experience for the customer (me) getting accurate info on the phone. Richard provided excellent customer service in a very efficient way. Said enough to be personable without the excessive cliches I hear so often obviously studies off a script in a owner trying to teach employees good service. I know most people won't rate a Petco or Petsmart but meeee .... I love it here! I have a shihpoo dog and she is a smaller breed and I've transitioned to getting her better quality food. I use to simply feed her dry food but now I feed her wet mixed with dry and she loves it a lot! This Petco to me has the most generous and helpful employees ! I am able to ask them questions and they lead me to the right section literally every time! Returns are super easy. I got my dog the merrick food pictured below and my dog didn't like it... the lady was able to show me a smaller breeds version of the same brand of food and now my dog is able to eat it which made me really excited. Now I know that I should be looking at brands and looking specifically for small breeds. If it wasn't for the lady in the front I don't think I would continue to buy from here but I'll be back! Went in yesterday and they were arguing with me about price matching, claiming they no longer do price matching with Amazon. They made an "exception" for my item and I moved on with my day. I decided to go on Petco's website and see for myself if the policy changed, and it hasn't. WHAT A SURPRISE. I confirmed by calling customer service as well. I go here for basic aquarium fish needs. Compared to other Petcos, this one does a good job taking care of it's fish. The fish are usually well-colored and healthy. The bettas don't look miserable. The variety of fish isn't that large but they got all the basic ones. Don't bother buying shrimps from this place though. As with most big box stores, the shrimps here are overpriced and under-colored. There's a good variety of items like food, tank supplies, medicine, etc. I don't ask the employees questions often, but anytime I do, they give me an answer I'm usually satisfied with. I don't know if they're experts, but they seem to at least have basic knowledge on fish, which is more than most people. I remember eavesdropping on an employee that tried to convince a reluctant shopper who wanted a betta to buy a 5 gallon tank and a filter instead of those dinky 1-3 gallon bowls. That's an employee who cares! I never quite trust reviewers that give employees shit for not selling fish. She said when dumping the contents " we like to see how the product works!" I was insulted by her antics - thinking she possibly caught a criminal stealing something else with the purchase. I held my composure and decided share my visit with the yelp readers about the inappropriacy of the clerk. The only thing I can gleam - I opened the container to see if the filters matched and whether the kit I purchased was identical to my existing filter system. I used to come here more but my Dog has outgrown the grooming (Groomers) they offer. Better chain than Petsmart. I used to bring my dog Luna here every 4 weeks for grooming and for a puppy the $20 puppywork's is a great deal! But as my puppy (up to 1 year for the deal) approached 100 lbs the 90 lb ish groomers were getting overwhelmed and I felt bad as she actually dragged one of them 1/2 across the store. Fun to watch but.... Good selection of foods, toys, bedding n stuff for your mutt. Also good selection of non K9 stuff too, nothing too exotic (although they did have the cutest mini-rabbits other day) but they carry most things you'll need to keep your pet healthy and happy. Very nice staff who clearly love pets. Good special price PALS deals and occasional open bag / box deals on food too. I have to buy a lot of food so I shop for deals. They have a good selection of just about everything, from doggie beds to cat crates, birdhouses to reptile feed, mice (to feed your snakes with.. ewww) to pet treats, toys to bones, wee pads to leashes, and a grooming area, too. I currently don't have a pet, but as I am a huge PROTESTER of PetSmart, this is the place I'd recommend to friends when they need to pick up generic and regular brand name items for their pets.
