Hello, I stopped by to purchase a couple of items: 20 gallon filter kit and filters. Your employee dumped the filter kit on the counter as I was paying for them. She said when dumping the contents " we like to see how the product works!" I was insulted by her antics - thinking she possibly caught a criminal stealing something else with the purchase. I held my composure and decided share my visit with the yelp readers about the inappropriacy of the clerk. The only thing I can gleam - I opened the container to see if the filters matched and whether the kit I purchased was identical to my existing filter system. As far as I know, most people do the same thing when the box content is accessible to the public! I used to come here more but my Dog has outgrown the grooming (Groomers) they offer. Better chain than Petsmart. I used to bring my dog Luna here every 4 weeks for grooming and for a puppy the $20 puppywork's is a great deal! But as my puppy (up to 1 year for the deal) approached 100 lbs the 90 lb ish groomers were getting overwhelmed and I felt bad as she actually dragged one of them 1/2 across the store. Fun to watch but.... Good selection of foods, toys, bedding n stuff for your mutt. Also good selection of non K9 stuff too, nothing too exotic (although they did have the cutest mini-rabbits other day) but they carry most things you'll need to keep your pet healthy and happy. Very nice staff who clearly love pets. Good special price PALS deals and occasional open bag / box deals on food too. I have to buy a lot of food so I shop for deals. Petco is Petco. It's your run-of-the-mill chain pet store that sells a varied assortment of goodies for all sorts of pets. They have a good selection of just about everything, from doggie beds to cat crates, birdhouses to reptile feed, mice (to feed your snakes with.. ewww) to pet treats, toys to bones, wee pads to leashes, and a grooming area, too. I currently don't have a pet, but as I am a huge PROTESTER of PetSmart, this is the place I'd recommend to friends when they need to pick up generic and regular brand name items for their pets. Don't go to PetSmart! At least until they change their policies! Anyways, it's truly a one-stop shop for your pets, so if you need anything, give Petco a try. read more

Came in on June 5th for their vetco services as I had recently got a new puppy on that same day. I remember being shocked as they didn't weigh him but instead guessed his weight and put that random number on paper. I have gone to a different location for my pup's second set of shots and that location did have a digital scale in which they measured his weight beforehand. Came here on 7/20/19 to look around with some friends, because one of my friends was thinking of buying a betta fish for her son. All was going well until we got to the fish section, when we discovered that three of the individual baby betta fish (two boys and one girl) were floating upside down in their containers, dead. We told a male employee about it, and he acted like he was interested in knowing which ones were deceased, but then he quickly switched gears to "Oh, were you thinking about buying a fish today"? His nonchalant attitude towards the fish put us off and we decided that we didn't want to buy anything, so we left. The only positive thing about the experience was that a female cashier told us that all of the kittens in the cages up front had been adopted out. I suppose the store is okay for buying pet supplies, but considering the uncaring nature of the employees towards the animals, I doubt I'd recommend buying anything living (or dead). EDIT: One of my friends did tell me that the male employee did in fact, take the dead fish off the shelf before we left, but I still feel like he wasn't that concerned about the care of the fish or the fact that they had died and was more interested in making a possible sale. read more

I've been bringing my Maltese terrier here for 2 months now and I will not go back to Petsmart after coming here. Carly (I hope I'm spelling her name right) is amazing with my fur-baby, super attentive, sweet, kind and gave my nervous baby extra cuddles after her grooming appt. The prices are affordable, you definitely get what you pay for here and Carly gives great advise and is not pushy at all with her opinions. Quick review: This Petco is relatively small compared to other Petco's despite it being inside Anaheim Plaza. Customer service was very welcoming and willing to help, the front desk lady had helped my girlfriend sort out a return, and a young guy named Cesar had helped my girl and I pick out a good brand of cat litter for our cat. This evening my family along with my pet decided to go to Petco and I have to say that I will never be returning, We are trying to socialize our pet and he was barking alot but I was calming him down when the barking would happen. I checked out and stopped to look at the kittys at the front of the store. My dog started barking again and the cashier told me that I needed to leave because my pet was being rude. I thought Petco was a pet friendly store but I guess not. So sad that Petco lost a customer over this. read more

I have never been so outraged by a petco in my life. I came here to buy 3 fish for my tank and a worker came to assist me and I told her what fish I wanted based on fish I've had growing up. After telling her I wanted two tiny fish, she began screening me asking how big my tank is and if I had a filter for it. I Gave her all that information, and she said OK well that fish isn't good for that tank so you need to get other types of fish like this and that so I eventually told her a couple other different types of fish that I wanted and she began to tell me no we can't do that either because your tank is too small for that so you can't get that fish. Then I realize OK I'm gonna have to upgrade my tank to a larger one that's fine if that's what I need to do. Then I told her of a different species of fish that I wanted, and she said OK let me just make sure with the manager that that's OK. Then the manager came over to start screening me again about the type of tank I have an a kind of fish that I want to get and even after I told her as well that I was going to be upgrading my tank she began asking me what date I was going to have the new tank set up and a bunch of other questions that I just answered. I've never had to deal with any type of BS like this when buying fish. I have raised fish in a fish tank for most of my life and understand what it takes and this is just absolutely absurd to have to get screened by two different workers, including management just to buy fuckin fish. I COULDNT EVEN BUY ONE FISH. They acted as though I was adopting a dog and treated me like I was too stupid and not reliable to care for fish. I'm never coming back to this Petco because of this incident. I hope management reconsiders how they treat their customers while informing them. read more

Don't order Online with Petco. Ordered online 3 large bags of Dog Food from the Brea, CA store. Paid via PayPal online. Petco emailed notifying me 3 bags ready for pickup. Next day at pickup, they only had 2 bags. Would not refund cash, only "Store Credit" which CAN'T be used to purchase online. Had to find another store, walk in and buy using Store Credit which ultimately cost more because it was not an online/pickup in store order. Also, wanted to buy 4 bags total. No Petco stocks 4 bags, and no store can take an Order for stock not-on-hand and notify you when items are IN and ready for pickup. Tried to give local merchants an opportunity. I visited this location today, December 19, around 1:30 PM. In the fish department, I met a wonderful employee who deserves some recognition! I wish I remembered his name (I'm terrible with names!), but he is there from Wednesday- Sunday. I wanted to contact the company directly through your website, but the message didn't allow me to type all of this information within 200 characters. Unfortunately, it isn't common for employees to go above and beyond in their customer service, let alone be so knowledgeable in the area. He helped me for about an hour to pick the perfect fish and necessary aquarium for my daughter. Not only that, but he patiently answered all of my dumb questions with very insightful information. It was very clear that he knew what he was talking about and even checked the fish to make sure I was getting a healthy one. I greatly appreciate all of his time and help he offered. This location is horrible. I bought a guinea pig from here and it came to me with pneumonia. I had it for 4 days when I had to take it to the vet. They don't care for their animals at all. I will never be back here. The living conditions for the animals is horrible and uncalled for. read more

I walked around looking confused and past a few employees but they all just darted right past me. Finally found something that would work for what I was looking for & the prices were way more than I have found elsewhere so I walked right out. Word to management: If your staff is friendly and helpful people will feel more inclined to pay the higher prices. Sales associate refused to sell me fish. According to him, I didn't have a tank nice enough for his taste so he would not sell me the fish that I wanted. I understand making sure they are going to a proper home but I have raised fish my whole life and regardless of his opinions, if I want to buy certain fish, who is he to argue? I have not been to Petco in a while cause I had no pets for 2 years. Yesterday my girlfriend and I bought a kitten and went straight to Petco. We found everything we needed and we had nothing. We bought a cage, food, litter, bed, you name it. Thats not the best part though. We had help from Sabrina who literally helped us through our whole shopping. She even took the extra step and assembled the cage and we put the kitten inside together with a nice comfy cushion under. She went way out of her way to give us this amazing experience at Petco. I come here primarily for their Saturday puppy play times. Any puppy under 6 months and with roof of their first vaccinations can come to this. There's usually only about 2-3 dogs hereon any given day, but it's done wonders for my puppy who was too socially awkward to play with other dogs! Trish is a great trainer. The prices might be a little high, but the staff here is very accommodating and friendly. read more

If I could give 0 reviews I would. Today I went to petSmart but they didn't have the food I needed for my dog. So I called to this store asking if they had the Z/d hills science because I really needed it. The girl that answered my called confirmed they had this food I never been in a petco so I didn't know they didn't sell prescription food but when I got there I asked the girl with the name Lora where the food was her response was what is z/d hills small bites she didn't know what i was asking for. And she just heard that I said small bites she showed me a totally different food and I told her that I called because I really needed the food my dog is allergic and that the only food he can eat and not getting reactions is z/d. Her response was oh I'm sorry it was A miss understanding you said Small bites and here are the small bites and I specifically asked twice when I called and she confirmed. I've been coming here to buy all my pet stuff. Staff always greeted us when we would come in. Always found what I was looking for, if not, the staff would help out. Today was a different experience at the register, all I've got to say is, if you don't like your job or you're having a bad day, don't bother coming in or trying to help customers. I came in today for help finding an escape-proof hamster habitat after receiving some unsavory sevice and a defective cage at petsmart. I was helped by a very nice blonde young woman, i think her name is caitlin, she was very helpful and knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect aquarium for my escape artist little girl. The selection is a little smaller here than at petsmart but the staff seems much more knowlegable and are much more helpful, smaller pet accessories are more affordable here, i did a few price matches with petsmart. Though petco is 3 miles farther than petsmart from me i will be coming back here for my future hamster related needs, i know my questions will be answered knowledgably and professionally!
