We have 3 dogs that get groomed here. I went in to take my dog for what should have been the free groom. They didn't include the last two dogs grooming appointment so it didn't populate as free. When I mentioned this to the groomer they said to speak to the check out person. I saw Gerry and told him the situation and he attempted to call their customer service line. Apparently they were closed for a holiday. So to not hold up the line I just paid and called customer service myself. I spoke to their customer service rep and they stated they were going to send a message to their back office team to get me a refund. I call 3 business days later to follow up. The person in customer service said the message had been closed out because the general manager of the store was to call or email me. I didn't not receive a call or an email. He said all he could do is send a message again. After being frustrated I called the store myself and spoke to Jessica in grooming. She said she would get back to me by Friday. It's now been over 2 weeks and I have yet to hear from anyone. Their customer service sucks. And when trying to rectify the situation with the store directly I still received no help. Rancid frozen fish food! I was hopeful that this could be a good place to get frozen fish food, as they're closer to where I live than my usual place. After dodging the super sketchy homeless bicycle dudes on my way across the parking lot, I should have turned right back around after walking in the door. This place is rickety as all get out. Everything is falling apart, boxes are everywhere. But they had my fish food, so I grabbed it and headed to the checkout. Though the staff are friendly enough (hence 2 stars), I was surprised to see that the fish food rang up at nearly double what I'm used to paying. I went ahead and paid, as I was already there. Got the fish food home, popped a frozen block out and was completely knocked down by the smell. It was totally rancid. So, in the trash it goes. With how sketchy the parking lot of the place is, I'll take the $ loss, and never return. Sad, really. read more

I have been bringing my two dogs here for grooming for about a year. Today I had an appointment for Norman who has a cyst on his back that has been there for years. They have bathed him with it at least 5 times. Today I show up for my appointment and they say "The new district manager is really strict" and they wouldn't see him w/o a vet letter. I was not super happy with this place to begin with. But it's just a bath and nail trim, they never seem to brush even though it supposed to be included. I assumed it's because both my dogs have short hair but they always have hair flying off them afterwards. I always tip $10. Today I was going to give my groomer $20 for Christmas. But this new district manager lost my business for good. I'm absolutely livid. They could have bathed him and I would've brought them a vet note next time, But now I will find a better groomer and I'll have a note in hand ahead of time. read more

I was devastated when I saw the condition of the baby bearded dragon at Petco. He had very labored breathing, skinny, and hardly opened his eyes; he was clearly dying. Additionally, I found a betta fish on the shelf inside the bag they use to transport the fish, meaning he had minimal oxygen and hadn't been given any food since he arrived. We purchased the betta just to save him from that plastic bag. When we went to the register to pay, a young Hispanic girl appeared shocked and hurt, quickly turning to her coworker to bring it to her attention. However, the blonde coworker rolled her eyes and ignored her. I was very upset, noticing her lack of empathy and urgency towards the animal. But seriously, what is going on here? It's clear that these poor animals are not being cared for properly; it seems they only care about getting rid of them. We are new pet owners and I am so grateful for the helpful staff at my local Petco. Every time we have been in we are greeted by the friendly staff and they are very helpful. They signed us up for a loyalty program to receive coupons and discounts as we continue to shop. Even before our recent pet adoption I would take my kids in here to look at the fish, turtles and hamsters. They have a variety of pet toys, food, gear, and so much more. We have fun shopping here. Brand new bag of $95 dog food and had MOLD all over the food. I didn't want to make a big deal of it and asked for a replacement bag and container since mine was covered in mold. 4 weeks later I get mailed a coupon for a new bag of food and told there not responsible for the container. So I guess the $50 sealed food container just got mold on it by itself. Well my apologies for asking to make things right. I should have never contacted them and went straight to a lawyer to help. This Petco is horribly run, the fish are in really bad shape the store is a mess and the Manager looks miserable and acts miserable, you ask her a question and she right away becomes combative with her answers. I was soo mad. I called corporate and they told me the same basic thing, I could make another appointment, before i got really mad and they said they would escalate my situation up. Worst customer service, problem resolving skills, and overall customer service, both at the Elverta store and as of right now, Corporate. My best advice, go somewhere else. Find yourself a professional that takes appointments by phone, actually handles customer issues, and calls when appointments get cancelled to reschedule or even confirm cancelations when done on the same day they are made, if working with online scheduling. Worst customer service!!!!!!!!! Let's see if they handle my issue, find out why/how my appointment was canceled, and make it right to MY (the cutomers) standards. I came in for a grooming session with my pup. The girl off bat didn't have a good attitude and as I'm trying to explain how I have my dogs vaccination card she's not listening to me & I keep telling her hey they sent me this tag for 2024 with all his information for his rabies vaccine not an actual paper. She doesn't even pay attention to me or what I'm saying. She's starts getting red in the face irritated when I'm making sure my dog is good & in safe hands. Riley made it completely unbearable and uncomfortable for me. If she would have listened she would have found everything she was asking for on his rabies vaccine tag. You're here for a service & to ensure customers feel safe leaving their animals not to create stress. I wouldn't recommend this place because of her. If she can't control her own emotions who knows what she'll do to your pet because she's upset. read more

The only reason I did not give this Petco one star is because the additional star is for the staff alone. They have always been really helpful but my gripe is it seems like this store is shortstaffed. They never have any carts so you have to carry all your food and items out yourself or wait for the one employee that is working to help. The store is a mess and a complete hazard. Saturday I went to Petco at the corner of Walegra and Elverta in Antelope. We got 2 parakeets to be companions for a parakeet we already had. While I was there I got a "bird waterer". I put the new parakeets into the cage with the water container. I went to work and when I got home the water container had fallen andshattered because it was glass. The water feeder was securely attached, in fact the attachment is still on the side of the cage. I cleaned the cage several times to be very sure to clean up all the shattered glass. The base of the container has very sharp points. The birds did not show any cuts that night(yellow and blue). When I was able to check them the next day one new bird(yellow) was dead and the other was in very bad shape. I took them back to Petco with their defective water container and asked for a refund. Birds should live more that one day. They refused! Their receipt states "If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund with proof of purchase." I had my receipt. The second bird(blue) has now also passed. Clearly I strongly encourage all to avoid this disreputable store! I feel horrible at the loss of our new pets and am disgusted at the way I was treated. The person who I spoke to on Sunday was not only rude to me but was treating many other customers in a rude, cold and callused manner. If you love your pets and want them to live, DON'T BUY FROM PETCO! The photos show the water feeder attachment on still on the side of the cage and a large broken chunk of glass on the bottom of the cage below. Birds looked fine Saturday night but died Sunday. Photos are from Saturday night when I found the problem. You know the surprising thing is that the person in charge was talking in an angry voice to customers saying "We are not selling any fish today!" And "We are not selling ANY pets today!" When the customers asked questions she talked back to them in a very snarky tone. Surely there was a big problem at this location and knowing this they still refuse a refund for parakeets that did not last a day. read more

My father takes his dog for grooming every other month and the grooming staff are always so nice and remembers his name. Whenever we are there we are always asked if we need help. It is a smaller store but it feels like a neighborhood store. There is a decent selection of dog food and toys. We are usually there when training classes are starting and we meet so many cute dogs. I would only say that it seems to take longer for our appointment for a bath even with an appointment but that said the dog always looks and smells good. read more

If you are expecting someone to pick up the phone...don't...if you expect someone to call you back after you leave 3-4 messages...don't. Also, they have now cancelled several appts with no explanation as to why. I have two dogs and its important that their appts are on the same day or within a day of each other. Having to space them at different times makes my life and schedule extremely hard. I do not recommend Petco grooming for your dogs. I have always had my dogs nails painted here and I went in today with my dog and they did a half ass job. The groomer discriminated against me and simply stated "Idon't have time to paint your dogs back nails" My dog and I were their at 9am first customers. DO NOT RECCOMEND! Went in to price match a harness I had purchased the day before and the manager, Dylan made me purchase the same exact harness brand new to get the price match and then go home to get the harness return the old used one? (Same exact product) This policy makes no sense and I'm not sure why they couldn't have just "sold" the new one and then return it on the old receipt as it's the same exact product. Or better yet just price match the product on the receipt like every other retailer. Ended up "buying "the new one and going to the car then putting it in the old box then returning that way. Waste of time and waste of a product that now they need to send back because it's "open" Ridiculous policy that is just meant to deter people from actually price matching. Just added a new dog to the family and definitely will not be returning to this location or Petco at all. Our mamma bunny gave birth to 6 bunnies and after about 2 weeks she had 7 more baby bunnies, so we got a total of 13 baby bunnies now! So this is the long story short. Mamma bunny dug 2 separate holes in the ground and we didn't know about the second hole till yesterday and that's where the other 7 bunnies were hiding =) That's a lot more than we can handle and we will start giving away most of them pretty soon, but we plan to keep only 2 =( So my son and daughter will get to keep one each. Here we went back to Petco to purchase another playpen for the 7 remaining bunnies. This Petco in Antelope is loaded with goodies for your pets and when I take my kids shopping here they usually like to wander around for a good 45min to 1hr. Service is always great and prices are affordable. They will price match any competitor's prices with no questions asked. I showed them the cheaper price on their website and they price matched that also "awesome". We just got Our first puppy and to be honest with you I had no idea that I will be making so many trips to Petco. Beside dog food, I had to buy chewing toys, treats, fleas and ticks control, leash, cage, dog bed and we just had puppy for 2 weeks. Staff is friendly, make sure you talk to staff who have pets and they will share their experience. So if you need advice just ask staff who is really knowledgeable among staff. The store itself is great. They have everything I need. However the grooming shop is the worse I have ever been to. I went there to just get my dogs nails trimmed and the manager is on a power trip. Very poor customer service. I have a 14 year old, 4.5lb Maltese that has 3 damaged disks and I wanted to hold her while they trimmed her nails. She said they don't allow people in the back. I suggested we do it right there in the entryway. She said no, its policy. I told her it was bad policy because i wanted what was best for my dog. She said I own this place, I'm telling you to leave. She was rude and has the customer service skills of a turnip. I would never take any animal to that grooming shop. read more
