My dog, Prince -- a vibrant senior who has always been calm and well-behaved -- was unfairly labeled "overly sensitive," denied services, blacklisted, and blocked from booking grooming appointments online. This never happened under Renique's gentle, professional care. These actions raise serious concerns about how animals are treated at this location. We've been to this conveniently located in-town Petco several times and had pretty good experiences. We got our pet's vaccines here recently when we missed our normal low cost pet vaccine monthly clinic and it wasn't that much more. The staff were sweet with our dog and the paperwork wasn't too bad, although the heart worm medicine they tried to sell us wasn't the cheapest. On our last visit we paid about $40 for a basic bath for our dog which seemed kind of pricey (I don't understand why the "materials" are a separate and extra cost, why not just include that in the price, I don't want to feel like I'm purchasing tickets on Ticketmaster). We booked our appointment and they told us at our on time drop off to come back in 2 hours. When we expressed surprised they told us this was better than some of the normal wait times. So I'm getting that this is the standard car dealer oil change, you have an appointment but it doesn't actually mean much? I'd rather choose a place the appointment team is meaningful in the future. Other than that, they have a good variety of supplies, toys, pet accessories, and food options of course here and the staff seem knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Everyone who works here is friendly, but the service is consistently extremely slow. It doesn't matter why you're there, grooming, vet, or cashier, you will be waiting. Every. Single. Time. This location moves at a pace I've never experienced at any other Petco, and it makes routine visits way more time-consuming than they should be. It was holiday time so I asked to reschedule immediately and was told there were no appointments, I went to the car and was able to schedule an appointment (go figure). I brought my dog back and Kenzie did a horrible cut, my 2 yr old granddaughter could have done a better job. I took him back up there and got a refund. I tried to schedule a bath a month later asking that Kenzie not work on him and was told that because I was not satisfied that previous time, they no longer would allow me to get any services. Competent veterinary care is expensive enough without taking advantage of your patients. This place will unapologetically sneak in hidden fees simply because they know they can get away with it. Principally, if you make an appointment for vaccines and the vaccine clinic staff don't feel like showing up to work for your appointment, the Vetco staff will charge you a TON of money for a full veterinarian visit that you don't need. Apparently, this happens a LOT because the surly staff was all ready with a stock speech about how they have no control over the clinic and it's "corporate policy" to charge you this huge fee. What are you supposed to do when you've made an appointment weeks ago that they don't keep but your dog needs a vaccine booster days before Thanksgiving and you don't have time to reschedule in the hope that your next appointment will be kept? Pay the extortion. They don't care about their customers. They do not care about your dog's health and they are more than willing to compromise it to coerce you into paying them more money. After being berated by 3 employees, I just had to give in to their threats and pay. This place is horrible. On top of a truly crooked staff, the place stinks. The hygiene is atrocious. The place is so dark, dank, and disgusting it's no wonder their employees are so nasty. I'm honestly surprised the city hasn't shut it down yet. I just spent a bunch of money in this Petco store. When I got to check out, the young lady asked me if I wanted to purchase a plastic bag for $.10, to carry my stuff out of the store. Or, I could stuff it in my Target bag. It's not that I don't have $.10 but considering the amount if money I just spent in there, I was not impressed. I said no to the plastic bag. She said, "Well, you know it's good for the environment." Can anyone define "judgemental"? So if Petco is concerned about the environment, stop selling plastic bags for $.10 or using plastic bags at all. Or you could have paper bags for free or for $.10. You're adding to the problem using plastic bags but you don't have a problem charging $.10 for them. Also, what are you doing with that $.10 you get per bag? Hopefully, donating it to a pet organization. Just rubbed me the wrong way. So I will not be shopping at Petco again. There's lots of other places to buy pet supplies. This Petco is the WORST. I usually don't leave reviews but in this instance I couldn't allow this to be overlooked. We bought a puppy and wanted it to be checked out at the clinic in Which we did. The doctor determined our puppy had worms so they gave him a dewormer and his first round of shots. They scheduled another appt to give him another deworming and his second round of shots. Before the second appt they told us to bring a fresh stool to see if the 1st deworming helped.my partner showed up for the appt ON TIME and was told the vet would be with him shortly. It took 30-40 mins (whole time he's still holding the stool sample) to be seen. He was finally seen we paid for our services and left. We never heard back from the doctor pertaining to our stool sample so we assumed "no news is good news". We called to get the total for his upcoming bill and they informed us the total would be $265 and that he still needs to be dewormed. We let them know he was dewormed last time we came in and we never heard back. They then stated he wasn't dewormed the last time eve. Though we paid for the service. We told them that and the guy was extremely rude, argumentative and a liar. They passed the buck as if it's our fault why all this was going on meanwhile we have receipts showing what services we paid for. They later came back with a dewormer stating they will give us a "discount" for the inconvenience as if they're doing us a favor. We were informed by others the history of this location. I really hate bouncing to another Vet, but this location is so piss poor i don't trust bringing my dog here for anything. read more

Never returning to get my dog groomed at this Petco. Celeste was my groomer and I gave her a photo of what I wanted. She communicated that my pups ears were a bit longer so he wouldn't look exactly like the photo, and I said no prob. Just trim. I gave her a print out of what i wanted (see attached) and she completely took off most of the hair around my dog's nose . LIKE SHE HAD A PRINT OUT!! If this is something she also couldn't do, I wish she said something before the cut. Her response when I asked about it "I did the best I could, maybe book with a different groomer next time." "I didn't charge you for an extra haircut" - no idea what she's taking about, I paid $72. I have no issue paying the fair price as long as I get what I asked for. "Your dog was a wiggler and moved every time" - implying my dog was difficult which I understand since it was his first puppy cut. I'm annoyed. I took my dog in to be groomed. She was the last appointment on a Sunday. Picked her up too her home. The next day I notice lots of problems with her haircut. Several gashes on her belly with redness, gashes around her neck, uneven cut on her ears and a very jagged cut on the top of her head. Called to speak with grooming mgr and left a voice mail. Pretty standard pet grooming. Most of the front desk and grooming staff are pretty nice. They try to work with you and fit you in although they are often fully booked. $32 late fee for being 10 minutes late to an appointment even though the appointments after mine were open

"For returns made after 60 days, or if you do not have a receipt, you will be issued an in-store only merchandise credit for the listed store price or allowed to exchange the product for something else. If exchanging for a different item, you will receive credit for the amount paid as listed on your Store Return Receipt." This is what is stated as the return policy for items returned after their 60 day return policy. However, we were only given a store credit of $9 for an item we returned today as this was the current price of the item when originally, it was around $40. I told the woman, who I assume to be an assistant manager or a team lead, that their return policy stated this on their website and they asked for me to show them that as if THEY didn't know THEIR own return policy. As a retail employee myself, I normally do not get upset during situations like this, but the lack of knowledge on the part of who, again, seemed to be higher up in rank than the cashier doing the return, and her rude attitude towards us during this was absolutely uncalled for. When I pointed out the part about doing an exchange, she said the return had already been done and nothing could happen. She never even gave us the option of doing an exchange in store, which is what we were intending on doing in the first place. When we asked for the manager, the assumed assistant manager would go talk to them and never allow us to talk to them. Now, we are left with a $9 gift card which won't buy anything in this store. I normally have a lot of respect for fellow retail employees, but I would never treat one of my customers the way she treated me and my girlfriend. The only reason I don't give this a one star rating is because the trainer my girlfriend is taking her dog to is always super nice and helpful and so are most other employees. But the management here seems to be lacking in customer service skills and knowledge of their own policies. -UPDATE- 2 stars raised to 3 stars After calling the store the next day and speaking to the store manager, Kim, we were given the option to come in and have the rest of the $30.99 taken off of a purchase in the store and use the $9 gift card towards the purchase as well. Went into petco to get a lot of things needed. First I was told there were no buggies. Ok I managed to drag two baskets around the store. When I was ready and finished paying over $200 for my items I was told I could not get an extra bag....I asked twice thinking the cashier did not hear me. Kristofer said No again. I brought my two dogs here for bath and haircut appointments and I am extremely disappointed - I have given them 4 times to win me over and unfortunately, I will not be returning. I am upset about both dogs however, one is not as bad as the other. One of my dogs (goldendoodle) was there for 10 HOURS (appointment was at 12:15) for a bath and haircut (she's only 40 pounds). On top of the ridiculous wait, she looks terrible. We showed them a picture of the cut that we desired and ended up with a shaved dog. The groomer also cut both of her ears and was bleeding from them. They ended up giving us 50% off but I would have not paid for the service at all if it was up to me. Terrible service and quality. Also, heads up, if you book with a SPECIFIC stylist 2 weeks in advance, your dog may be done by a different groomer and they won't even inform you. read more

Had a terrible experience at the groomer and then I bothered to checked the reviews... The reviews all tell the same tale. The lady was straight up mean mugging me I assume because my dog was dirty. I'm fairly certain they overcharged me by a good bit. My dog isn't an extra large breed. He still had dirty spots which makes me wonder about what they actually did. Stay away from their grooming section. We had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment. Several days before, they changed the appointment time in us without our approval. When we finally brought our dog over, they stopped the grooming and told us that our dog's hair was too matted for them to move forward, and that we should take him to a vet groomer. Honestly, all that was required was taking a little more time on him. $30 later, when my husband brought our dog home, we groomed him ourselves. First time taking my dogs here for grooming. I do not get my dogs trimmed/cut. I only do bath and nails. David F who did my larger dog did a phenomenal job which is why I'm giving more than 1 star. He is someone I'd recommend. Nails are super short and my dog feels and smells great. Aaron R I would NOT recommend. I had to remind them TWICE to cut my little dog's dewclaws. And I paid extra to have both of my little dogs' nails ground down. That never happened. When I asked why their nails were so long the ladies at the front told me it was because "Aaron didn't finish since he was waiting on someone to help him with their nails." So why was I given my dogs back when they weren't actually finished? I have been a customer at this Petco for years. Today, I went to get my dogs nails trimmed and waited an hour to get up to the counter. When I arrived at the counter the groomers would not speak to me. They were acting scared of my dog, when he is just the sweetest old man. They refused to see my dog due to my shot records being "expired" once I showed them the records and that they were not expired they FINALLY said they would see my dog. When they went back into the groom room they let another dog fixate on mine and bite my dog; the groomer did NOTHING, my dog went to correct the other dog and we got asked to leave. During the entire time we waited to be seen no dogs went in the groom room. Petco groomers do not want to do their jobs. I have had other problems with them on 3 separate occasions. The service has become below standard. One groomer snipped my Maltese and he bled out so they didn't charge me for that grooming. He didn't need stitches (thank God). He's 7 years old and he's been getting groomed since he was 6 months so he's well trained and never had the issue of a groomer snipping him and therefore leaving a scar. I've been going here for years with the hope it would get better. It's near my home so I kept hoping for the best. However the employees are rude, non enthusiastic, dry and horrible attitudes. If you don't enjoy grooming pets, just find another job. If you are gonna half do the job with no regard to the owners request, find another job. Petco grooming is pretty pricy and I don't mind paying but if the service is poor alongside customer service being bad, I can not continue bringing my doggie here. Terrible. Booked a 12pm appointment for my goldendoodle and was told it would take 3 hours. Took 4 hours and they didn't do anything I asked. The haircut has several tags of hair that were missed and nothing was blended in. The haircut is not what we discussed during consultation. I paid for a halloween special where the dog is supposed to smell like pumpkin spice and didn't get that either. When I asked to speak with the grooming manager, she was defensive, told me she thought the haircut was beautiful and if I didn't like it I could just go somewhere else. When I asked to speak to the manager she offered a refund as long as I was willing to drive back and give them my card. After 4-5 hours of nonsense I'm not going back for just $100 dollars. You can go to barking hound village for grooming... it's $60 dollars, takes less than 2 hours and they actually listen to customers. read more

This is the first pet store near me that I've seen genuinely care for their bettas. When I walked in and saw them I was shocked... out of pure joy. These bettas were lively and you could just tell they were well taken care of. I almost started tearing up as I saw how good shape these guys were in. Bravo to the young lady who takes care of them and a huge thank you from all the betta owners who also spoil their little buddies.
